Well I give the place 4 stars but honestly it should be lower. We waited for nearly 10 minutes before they figured out who was going to be our server and in that time they took our drink order 3 times but never brought it until they decided who our server was going to be. Then we ordered queso and didnt get that for nearly 10 minutes as well. At this point I was almost ready to leave. Then our food came out. My wife got the Carne Guisada and she really enjoyed it. I, however, got the Chicken Fried Chicken with jalapeño gravy, which is supposed to be one of their signature dishes. Well I wasnt impressed as it came out burnt and very chewy so I sent it back and got their Queso Flameado. And this was the only saving grace of the day for me because it was great and the only reason that theyre not getting a 2 star rating from me.

When you spend the amount you spend you expect to be waited in and the past two times I had to hunt down my waitress Went back today and what I love about the restaurant is the food. Met Miguel and his mother who own the restaurant. I appreciate a small business owner who pays attention to his business and making it right. I had excellent service today. Their food is amazing! 9/13/24 Today wasn t a good day first time I had to go to the register to pay my bill. Ran out of sauce

Great Restaurant I have dined in twice now. The first time, I got enchiladas, which were amazing and tasted like someones mom cooked it at home. The second time, I got the taco plate, and it was also great. Crunchy tacos, and I like how they had the tacos up right in a stand. The presentation was spot on. Service was also great and very attentive. I will definitely be eating here again and highly recommend it.

Recently I hosted a group of about 25 people at Dona Chela in Pasadena and I couldn t have been happier with my choice. We had good food choices, the food was delicious, the service was great, we had plenty of room for our group without being crowded and everyone was happy with their food & service. I will continue to patronize Dona Chela and choose them again if I m hosting a group. Thank you Miguel and staff for making our meal a pleasant one. - M. I feel very welcome at Dona Chela. The service is the best, and you can tell they really appreciate your business. The food is excellent as well. Unlike the big chain restaurants, this is a family owned business that strives to let you know they appreciate you being there. As one that has a shellfish allergy, I am VERY cautious about the venues that I go to. I have to call ahead to confirm food handling procedures as well as their protocols for dealing with someone that has an allergy. With this restaurant, I was able to get complete reassurance that even though there were areas they were not able to keep cross contamination from happening, they were able to relay to me what to stay away from AND prepare my food so that no cross contamination would happen. I was impressed by the level of care and concern they took to guarantee that I could safely eat there. I was part of a large group (larger than was expected) and the service, quality, quantity, speed of delivery, and atmosphere was beyond expectation. The food was fantastic and the owner as well as his staff were exceptionally pleasant. I will be coming back when I am in the area!

This is a great breakfast, lunch, or dinner restaurant. Menudo is good, fajita steak and eggs, great. Nachos, tacos all good. Not a big fan of their enchiladas but thats ok plenty of other things to eat here. The servers are very sweet and attentive and you can watch the astros game

Doña chelas was an amazing overall experience. From the moment my husband & i walked in we were greeted and assisted! We had a large party with us and the servers and cooks still were able to serve us quickly. This restaurant was incredible! The food was amazing; I got the fajita enchiladas, and they were so flavorful and authentic. We came with a verg large group, and they had such incredible service. If you re in the Pasadena/Deer Park/La Porte area and craving Mexican food, you definitely need to check out Doña Chela. Excellent service and excellent food. This is our go to. Not many weeks that we haven t eaten here at least once. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food is very well made. Between our family we have tried quite a few of the items. All were great. Doña Chela s is a great place to get excellent food and the best margaritas around! Well priced, presents and always with excellent service. Rudolfo and Alan are the servers we ask for when we come. They are both excellent servers and very attentive. The nachos compuesto, chile rojo, fajita enchiladas, the fajitas and the gorditas are recommended. The house margarita is well balanced and not watered down. As for flavors try the watermelon margarita - the right balance of sweet and lemony. The owner and her son are always around the mark of a good restaurant. Dona Chela s is the place for your margarita and Mexican food fix!

The server was nice but inattentive. Queso was cold and watery. Actually, everything i had tasted bland and watery. Had a woman come up to our table to try and sell jewelry. I dont think anyone at our table will be back. Wasnt busy. Only 4 tables in restaurant between multiple servers. My food also came out incorrect. So... yeah. My coworker threw a party for his mom here and it was my first time going. And it was a great experience. Good food clean restrooms but what got me was the service. Went there on the way out of town. The server was very nice , but..... My brother in law ordered a latte , 3 people tried for over 5 minutes to figure it out , and our server finally said they did not have it. He ordered sweet tea and got unsweetened. I ordered Machado with no onions and no tomatoes. The server gave everyone else plates , took mine back to the kitchen , and then when it came back , the refried beans and the potatoes were ice cold !! Back it went. Even hot , the beans were runny. The Machado was delicious. My flour tortillas were very good , especially with butter. The chips were good , but I only liked the green salsa it was cold and had just the right heat. The red salsa was hot , and I dont like hot salsa.

There are maybe 5 better Mexican restaurants within 2 miles of this, but its not terrible. If you want something low key, maybe this is your place. Seemed to have a senior citizen crowd during a Friday evening. Kids enjoyed their Taco and Enchilada kids plates. The enchiladas Doña Chela were pretty good to me, but my wife said they didnt have much flavor. Frozen margarita wasnt great, seemed premix machine made. The red salsa was good and warm. Honestly not a terrible experience but wont be going back for a long while.

Service is bad, server didnt acknowledge of extra charges for substitutions. Was charged extra 3.00 for a sampler plate and was not told extra charge to change to all beef. Menu stated beef and chicken so was just changing half not full. Manager would not acknowledge that customer should of been told about extra charge before bill given. Nothing on menu stating extra charges for changes to plate. Was very displeased with son as manager which he admitted had problem begore well apparently still has not been resolved. Do not eat there they will charge you all kind stuff without telling you first.

We WERE REGULAR costumers..but on Saturday our service was HORRIBLE...I always leave a 25% tip..but we ordered our drinks and 25 min later NOONE came to our table..they even took our menus AWAY..there was a large party in their banquet room..that seemed their only concern..someone finally asked us if we had ordered drinks..25 min after we ordered them..unacceptable..list a good customer..telling ALL our friends to stay away..spread the word. TERROR SERVICE..manager should be fired..never going again!!!..

Went for a late breakfast on Sunday, the food was good and came out quick. The service was great. Overall it felt refreshing atmosphere with the music that was playing. Noticed since I was last there, they now have more desserts available and a specialty coffee bar menu. from the coffee menu, I tried the carajillo and they nailed it, it was really good. My wife tried a latte and liked it as well... were looking to returning sooner mainly because of the Coffee bar addition to the original menu.

Not a single restaurant around here holds a candle to Doña Chela #3!! Our server Rodolfo was Phenomenal even though we were his only table outside, he never missed a beat! Not only did his service warrent a 10 review, the food was beyond excellence in taste as well as presentation!! Top it all off with the owner Miguel coming out to personally introduce himself and have a very pleasant conversation made our first time here one to definitely remember!! This place is amazing! Great food for a really great price. 2023 brought a spike in restaurant prices but this place stayed true and consistent with satisfying the customer. Absolutely friendly and welcoming staff to both us and our pup. Owner even came out to tell us our baby is more than welcome. I highly recommend this family owned spot!
