This is the favorite sushi place for my wife and I. They have an HUGE selection of rolls and the sushi is always fresh and well made. They do have options for the sushi-phobic so you can bring new people and everyone can find something to eat.

The best place in the area compared to 3 other nearby Japanese restaurants. Best beer selection with several Asian beers to choose from, good fish selection (though they dont carry anything exotic anymore). I only gave it three stars for service because sometimes theyre slow but sometimes theyre good. Overall my local pick for Japanese food.

The atmosphere here is cool; its a small place but I like how quaint it feels. Some things could probably be cleaned up a little better but overall, the feeling is nice. The food felt a little lacking though. Trying both appetizers and sushi, everything was good but that was it. There wasnt a single roll or appetizer that made me go yeah, thats it. They have a massive sushi menu but need to dial back the variety and focus more on quality. I would go back if I wanted sushi and was near the area, but I would look elsewhere if I am making it a point to go get sushi.

Little Tokyo is my to go restaurant when I want good sushi, my fav is the Noahs ark. I have been going here for about 8 years and never once have I been disappointed. I have also brought my family / friends and they always end up loving it. I have nothing bad to say about the food or service, sometimes you will have to wait to be seating since it does get alot of business on the weekends but the small wait is well worth it. I hope you get to try this restaurant and hope you will enjoy it as much as I have been these last 8 years. ( not a paid review ) Parking: Lots of parking, its a decent size shopping center.

Little Tokyo is truly a Pasadena gem. Eric and Irene, the owners, opened this beloved restaurant 22 years ago. Initially, it was just 10 tables and 10-12 seats at the sushi bar. Over the years, Little Tokyo has not only expanded its space but also its menu. If Eric gets to know you and likes a roll youve been ordering, it might even make it onto the menu. My connection with Little Tokyo runs deep. At 16, I began my first job there, and for the next 10 years, Eric and Irene treated me like family. When I returned a few days ago, they welcomed me with the same warmth and hospitality that made my time there so special. They even generously treated my friends. The food remains outstanding, maintaining the high standards that have always set Little Tokyo apart. And the prices? Unbeatable. Little Tokyo continues to be a force to be reckoned with!

Waited a long time to be seated even tho the place was practically empty. Girls were just standing around talking. Once we were seated, we asked for water and then never was asked if we were ready to order but they did ask the table that was seated way after us. Maybe it was the fact that we were the only Hispanics there. Horrible service.

This used to be an amazing restaurant, but it s a shadow of its former self. Friends drove in from out of town to eat here again and had a terrible experience. The owner and staff need to relearn how to run a restaurant. The kitchen was down for an hour and no one bothered to check, no soap in the bathroom which means staff aren t washing hands, got an order wrong twice and then both staff and owner argued with the table about it instead of apologizing and making it right (owner lied and said she ate something she s allergic to), The owner said she was going to make the WAITRESS pay for the single comped item. I hope your waitress walked out on you! That s not her responsibility, it s yours. And the sashimi was gross. I ate one piece and didn t touch the rest because it was discolored and nasty. It s a huge shame, and now I know why it was almost empty on a Saturday night when it used to be a line out the door.

My first time trying sushi was at Little Tokyo. The owner Erik gave me some samples to try and recommended a dish. Since 2017 Ive been visiting him and his restaurant. To this day, he still has me try different things. Hes even changed vendors when i mentioned flavor loss. Yesterday he had me try fresh wasabi as its a new item on the menu. It was great and I highly recommend ordering it. Thank you Erik and Little Tokyo team.

Excellent sashimi and sushi . We started our meal with the exquisitely prepared sashimi done by the chef and owner Eric . Beautiful presentation and delicious fish ! We each had a roll , mine was the marine roll , very nicely presented and extremely tasty . My wife s toinette roll was equally delicious ( she generously shared a piece) The meal brought smiles to both of us , inside and out ! We highly recommend! Also they have an extensive selection of rolls to choose from , looking forward to trying them all.

This was the best sushi place in Pasadena, hands down! But after Covid their new set up they have is awful. Its the only restaurant style establishment, that doesnt have waiters. You order when you walk in, fyi go ahead and ask for an extra drink (refill) because no one will check on you if you need anything. If youre missing or need anything you have to walk up to the sushi bar. Bring back the good ole LT days!

Met some family here for dinner this past week. As you walk in you are told you have to place your order before you can even be seated at a table. Their menu is pages & pages long making it difficult to make a decision on anything. Once you get your food there is no one waiting on you for additional drinks, food, or even a takeout box. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable and the food was below average. I would not return..

Especially when theres a line of people behind you, most of whom have been waiting a while. The laughable part is being asked to tip at the front desk before any service has even been rendered. Hahaha Next time I come, if things are still that way, I will turn around, walk out, and go to your competitor. Likely there Ill be greeted, seated, and treated better. This is one of my favorite restaurants but the service is pretty frustrating. The same person who is the cashier is also the waiter. So the line gets super backed up because they now make you order at the cashier (instead of at the table). Then the cashier goes to seat those people, get their drinks, etc. while the rest of us are waiting in line. Surely there could be a better method. If their food weren t so good I would ve stopped going there for that reason alone.

We were taken aback at the ordering process here. You order before being seated. The restaurant is kind of small, so there could be a wait to be seated. This was our first time here and were unsure at the size of the portions served. And, it showed. Most things come with a soup and salad. We didnt pay close enough attention to that fact and ordered a salad that was big, and we still got the side salads too. Not a complaint, just in FYI. We ordered a combination sushi plate (C3 maybe...the biggest one) and the Japanese Omelet. Everything was good, but the omelet was awesome.

We ve been customers of this business for a long time. We originally would go to the Pearland location due to being closer to our house. They closed that location and we would then take a long drive to their Pasadena location to continue supporting them. This past Saturday 01-21-23 at 6pm we invited my brother in law and his family to eat. When we arrived, I was stunned by how the employee approached us. He was extremely rude and told us he could not seat us because they had a large party in the back which 2 waitresses were handing that. He said he was taking the main dining area, which everyone can see was empty and he couldn t provide service to us. We were a party of 9. In all fairness, he had one table occupied with 2 guests. That was it. He refused to seat us and told us to leave. If this is happening to more customers, eventually this business will have no more customers. We will not be returning again.

i got a list of reasons for why I m giving 1 star tonight. our server didn t check on us, didn t take our first dirty plates and wasn t even the one to bring us our food. Let s start with when we walked in we had no idea what was going on. It wasn t until a girl came over and told us in sorta a annoyed tone we had to order at the DESK. Not only is that inconvenient, you have no time to decide. My wife didn t even know what to get. We sat down finally after ordering, got our appetizer that came with our bento boxes. My mushroom soup 3/10. It had flavor but not to die for. My wife said her salad was 4/10. It lacked flavor and she was honestly disappointed by the time we got the bento boxes. Barely any meat for $19.00+ each box. Chicken Katsu lacked flavor, fried rice was bland and the tempura was one the worse I ve ever had. In my opinion I will not be returning, it s overpriced. My wife even said let s go get Burger King as she was eating her bento box. Out of all the places I ve been in the area for Japanese, this is the most flavorless, uninviting atmosphere place. Just not worth it at all.

Food: Decent Service: Unconventional/inconvenient I wish them the best but I wont return. Your order is taken at the door, rather than being seated and browsing a menu. This creates a long line during lunch time. You are expected to already know what you want to eat. The hostess is also the waitress and busser for the entire restaurant. This also adds to your wait time at the door. The food was not memorable. The hostess/waitress was pleasant. Price was affordable.

This ordering at the door nonsense needs to go. Covid is a small issue now, get some help! There s not even a help wanted sign on the door. If you re an experienced waiter/waitress in the area come here and get this establishment back to its former glory. If they refuse the help, we know it s the establishment. Fun fact - I ve never posted a review in my life.

And sure they have the menu online, but what s the purpose of having a dining room, might as well just do Togo orders only.

Very nice little sushi spot. Be aware you order at the door but once you get past that its a nice spot. Everyone is very nice and the sushi is great. Gets pretty busy in the evening.

Absolutely Terrible! From start to finish. My hibachi chicken was no Hibachi. It was maybe 1/2 chicken breast that definitely was not hibachi grilled! Oh and dont get me started on the vegetables... they werent even cooked! Everything taste like fish - Dont waste your time or money here.

Used to love this place so much. Took my wife on our very first date here almost 8 years ago and the experience was great, but the changes after COVID have driven us away from dining here anymore. The food is still very good, but doesnt seem to be the same quality it was before. Our biggest complaint is the new ordering style. Part of the magic of our date was discussing all the options in the menu since she had very little experience with sushi. Now, youre forced to order before youre even sat at a table. This is fine for MAYBE two people, but with large groups it can get very frustrating. Absolutely ruins the vibe for a date night though.. Hopefully theyll change back at some point. We miss our Little Tokyo nights.

Its probably the best Japanese American restaurant place for the first time ever since I was just a kid for many years since then. Parking: Fairmont Parkway in Deer Park near Pasadena, Texas in Houston Area. Kid-friendliness: More than just a group of people as a family .

I used to love this place. There was nowhere I would rather eat sushi. But this order and pay at the door nonsense is why I havent been there in ages, and have no intention of ever returning. The service was always bad anyway and everything on the menu that isnt sushi is garbage, so theres also that.

If I could give this place a zero, I wpuld. The food was terrible and service really sucked. You can t be seated unless you order at the entrance. The host has a terrible attitude. If she would at least greet with a smile when saying what their ordering process is would be better. The waiters just stand around the sushi bar area chatting away. They have lots of employees in the sushi area for the food to be terrible. The put season all salt on their sushi rolls . Their chicken fried rice has no flavor. Their sesame chicken has a really bad after taste.

This place is a joke! You have to order before they will even seat you. You have this little seating area where you have to order from, and when I asked why I was told the owner wanted it this way. The place was empty so I won t be back! What a shame on the owners part, dumb decision!!

The food is still tasty, but for the love of god, return back to a waitstaff and allow your customers to enjoy a sit down dinner like any other normal restaurant. Standing at the front door, being rush to glance over the menu as more people pile in the door is absurd. This definitely leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

You have to order what you want at the front before you are seated, sorry this is not a food truck. I go to a sit down restaurant for a sit down restaurant experience, and I believe others will agree. If there is a reason why you guys are doing this, why aren t a majority of others doing this too? Food was alright, maybe I ll try again in a few months.

This used to be our favorite spot until it turned into a order at the door and sit establishment (crammed). When I go out to eat and spend my $ it is a treat. I would like to eat at an actual restaurant with a server. Ill be going elsewhere until this changes. Miss this place but it no longer provides the service I had loved. I talked to one of your servers about how much they made pre-covid and these kids were taking home hundreds a night in tips (i remember it kind of shocked me because at the time I was making less doing a skilled manual/heavy labor job). Find some help and revise your business model please. Just called again (2nd time) to inquire about this and there seems to be no management on site (on a Saturday night). Whoever took my call was nice but could not tell me when or if a manager would be in.

This place used to be really great. Their food was good and their service was good. Unfortunately they seem to have taken the COVID as an opportunity to reduce the cost of their wait-staff. Before the shutdown, this place had a normal staff, but now even though restrictions have been lifted for months, they still make you order at the door before you get a seat. Which means good luck if you want to order something extra, or god forbid you change your mind and want something different. If that happens, you have to get out of your seat and walk all the way across to the restaurant in order to re-order at the order check point up front. This is not a huge deal but it does infringe on the enjoyment of a meal and the only benefit I can see from their new set up is that it means they have to higher far fewer waiters/waitresses. I have waited several months, hoping that this place would change back but they dont seem to be planning on changing back. It is too bad because this was once a really good little place.

Little Tokyos new dining policy leaves a bad taste. Gone are the glory days of what was once a revered sushi restaurant, Little Tokyo has traded their hospitality for a cold and sterile reality. Do not expect to be greeted as you were once welcomed, but expect to wait and be prompted to order your food by lackluster service staff implementing a new dining policy that leaves you no choice but to comply. This new dining policy demands that you already know what you want to eat, and to order and pay before you even get a chance to sit down at a table. What was once a casual dining experience is now tainted by Covid-19 restrictions and fears, and the lack of accommodation has dwindled, mirroring the lack of trust for regulars and clientele. Prompt drink refills and attentive waiters seem to be an echo of the past. The food still retains a bit of semblance, but struggles to make the dining experience anymore enjoyable. Perhaps the sun has set on Little Tokyo, and I understand that there are folks who want to support local business and rely on its former reputation, but I would argue that this establishment has lost its identity and no longer upholds that same dining experience that kept me coming back.

Food came out at different times for each person. Didnt feel full. Had to get up and look for the server to print out receipt and she was caught eating. Tip included was more than what they deserved. This place was mine & my friend s jam for many years - we d come weekly. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, this place has gone so downhill. Having to order and pay before being seated even when the waiting room is busy. The servers only deliver the food, but no one comes by to check on you and your food, or give refills - you have to flag someone down. If the restaurant wants to be considered a quick service restaurant, like a Panera, that s fine - but the customers need to know that & have the options available to refill our own drinks, etc.
