Wow! Best kept secret ever! Not only was it delicious, you definitely get your moneys worth! Was there for breakfast and the portions were enough for 2 people, but if youre like me, I dont like to share. Especially when its that good! The biscuits (they give you 2, not just 1) on the Texas 2-Step are HUGE! Like 2 in 1 huge! And it comes with gravy. Yummy crispy bacon! Got 4 slices since I dont like sausage. On top off 2 eggs and hash browns! Im telling you, its enough for 2 peeps! I ended up taking 1 biscuit and some gravy home and had it this morning, and oh, so good still! Cant wait to go back and try the Hawaiian Pancake Combo! Gonna get some biscuits to go! And then theres the lunch/dinner menu and then, of course, the desserts. Next time, Ill take pics. My mouth is salivating, thinking about all the different foods they offer! Hmm, I still need dinner tonight. Wonder how late they are open on Sundays? Yall gotta go try it! You wont regret it!

Got one of the worst meals ever from here (take-out) 9/9/24. We have ordered chopped steak several times and was pretty good. Nelva was the best! I can go on and on about the portion size and how delicious the food was, but Nelva outshined both those. The food is seriously amazing! Heard some rave reviews on a social media platform and was excited to try it. Our server never checked on us after we got our meals and slipped us our bill when we got up from the table. This was my second time going here. We live close by so we were looking forward to trying this place. Everyone we encountered from the hostess to our waitress and the person that checked us out were very unpleasant. Made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. We didn t feel welcome from the moment we walked in. It was uncomfortable and we left wishing we had gone somewhere else. I understand people have off days and the food wasn t bad so a few weeks later we decided to try it again. Second time, as soon as we walked in the person that sat us down was rude. Never greeted us just asked if we wanted a booth or table then sat us in the back. The waitress this time was nice. She gave good service but our food was cold. I already was regretting coming back after the hostess had a bad attitude so I didn t complain. We took most of our food home so we could heat it up there. The person that was checking us out had a scowl on her face and was incredibly unfriendly. Made it seem like they didn t want our business, so that will be last time we go there. I regret giving them another try. There are other diners that we will continue to go to where the service and atmosphere is more welcoming.

I ordered coffee, manager brought me a dirty cup and walked away. #2 I ordered breakfast and asked for home potatoes instead of hash browns waitress said ok. When we got the bill the was an extra charge around $4 when we questioned it the manager said yeah there s a up charge for the potatoes. I said at no point did the waitress tell me this. I was highly recommended to Blue Mound Cafe for their home type cooking, I ll be doing the same. Love the feel of this place, casual and friendly. The servers were efficient, kind and knew the menu well. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I had their meatloaf with two different vegetable sides. I m definitely prioritizing this place as one of my top choice s for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The deserts are showcased with many choices from cake to pie. Enjoy!

After seeing a post on Facebook regardingBlue Mound Cafe, I quickly looked them up and was so surprised to see such great food. So my husband and I decided to go try them out. So we drove from Carrollton to this location and we were not disappointed. Crystal our waitress even though she was new as well she did an amazing job. The Chicken and dressing was tasty. Rolls, and cornbread complemented the meal very well. My husbands pancakes and omelets were to his perfection and he is hard one to please . We will be back! The inside of this establishment is inviting and comfortable. The service here is fantastic and the servers are kind as well! But by far the most redeeming quality is the fact that the food is absolutely fantastic! We had the chicken fired steak along with the smothered chopped steak and both dishes were amazing! The fried zucchini is the perfect appetizer. The desserts they have are delicious as well. Not to mention the food was piping hot! Not doubt everything is going to be nice and hot when you eat here! Honestly Im definitely gonna come back here. Tell all my famliy as well. Oh and they serve breakfast all day so Imma have to come back for breakfast next time. This restaurant is one of a few. Definitely lucky to have it close to home! Lots of parking available. Outside is always clean, just want to let you know, that some people like to smoke close to the door. Place is always clean. Hardly ever a wait, if maybe 30 seconds. Breakfast all day. Which is usually great! Watch out for the coffee, been three times the coffee was burnt or just was not right. Service and food all made there. NOT frozen! Last thing - dessert... Amazing! I had chicken fried chicken with pinto beans and mashed potatoes. My husband had the same but had green beans and mashed potatoes. My daughter had a pancake. Everything was delicious. My 2nd try at this place. Went mid morning for breakfast. I was greeted only with a how many after I said good morning twice. Not crowded and service was just ok. I even told the server I hadnt had breakfast here before asking for a recommendation and the reply was its all good It seems the regulars are much more warmly greeted and given attention. Just an observation. I didnt know the process to pay at the counter so my credit card and the check sat visible on the table for 10 mins without anyone telling me to pay at the counter. Then that was awkward because my server handled the check and asked aloud if I wanted to leave a tip. Seems thats a personal decision and should be written on the ticket. My main complaint is the charge for using a debit card, which I didnt see any signs of but its 2024 why the heck are you charging a fee to use a card? Get a different payment processor instead of taking it out of the customer. I wasnt told thered be a charge and I guess I wasnt perceptive enough to see any signs at the payment counter, front door, etc. I asked the person taking payment to round it up for a tip, instead of rounding the person just made the tip 5 dollars leaving it with an awkward total. Totally not what I asked or consented to. Lets talk about the food. Its snack sized. The chicken fried steak was paper thin and stringy. The sides were in tiny little bowls with barely anything in them, and they were overly greasy. You could SEE brown grease in the watery leftovers of the veggies. The rolls were awful and there wasnt any refills at all. Service was okay, but I didnt get any drink refills and it took a while to get the check. Customer base looked like a bunch of old people who probably dont care about being screwed out of a few bucks and dont have a young bucks appetite for actual real food portions but the cost alone is too high for what you get. I can understand a paper thin chicken fry if its like 6 bucks or something and not 13.

If you like service equal to dog feces, then this place is your dream come true. This place was at about 1/4 capacity when I arrived, yet I sat there for 10 minutes for a drink order and another 10 for a food order. The walk-ins that came in after me, ordered the same as I did but got there food far faster than me, unless you count the 2 times they tried to serve me someone elses meal. I guess in an effort to be consistent, they made me wait another 10 minutes just to get the check. You know youre in a quality establishment when you see peoples leftovers left on the hostess stand as you walk in the door. Had to place a to go order and had never tried your establishment. Which can be intimidating or terrifying at times. Laura took our order, and my husband picked it up He delivered it to me because I being handicapped can not stand long enough to prepare microwave food, and therefore, it is imperative that we find good wholesome food already prepared at this time. Really glad they opened on Rufe Snow, food is really good and service is pretty standard. The only negative- beware they charge you a fee if you pay with a card. They try to trick you by calling it a cash discount but come on, we all know what this is and used to be illegal for a reason. This place great food from scratch! Initially had the packsacks but they are gross! Big but was raw and uncooked inside. Had them recooked but still raw.. Waitress said they are always like that and does not recommend them when asked. Ended up with French toast, home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon and a strawberry pie, delicious!

Unfortunately, stay away from the packsacks, they are gross! Have had them in thee separate visit and each time they are huge but 80 % is raw and uncooked inside. 1st & 2nd visits, had them recooked, still raw. 3rd time, got the silver dollar pancakes, still raw. Lastly, not a fan of the Monty Christo, way too greasy.

My sister and I decided to give this place a try because a friend suggested it. Parking lot was full so we figured it was a good sign. We were seated pretty quick However, our waitress was not very friendly nor attentive. She took our order...we both had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, for the second side item, she had corn I had the fried zucchini. Food arrived lukewarm, steak was tough to cut, even with a steak knife. Waitresse did not come by to check if we needed our drinks refilled or if we wanted to order anything else. She stopped by several times at the table next to us yet she never looked our way. We wanted to place an order to go...we had to get the attention of the hostess. It was after our waitress saw her that she came to take our to go order. When my sister asked if the hamburger comes with mustard? The waitress said in a very snarky way It does today! My sister looked at me and the waitress then said Im your waitress! She said it in a very rude way. Not sure we will be going back.

My husband got the liver and onions with mashed potatoes and corn nuggets. Liver was overcooked and potatoes were dry. I got the meatloaf sandwich, ended up getting a 2inch thick slice of meatloaf between wonder bread(squished and soggy) with kraft sliced cheese menu says Swiss. The onion rings which I paid $2 more to add were undercooked. The service was okay. The floors had trash under the booth. We went around 2pm, there was maybe 5-6 other tables with guests and over 7 staff members so it was hardly busy. When checking out the woman who I assume was the manager asked if we enjoyed the meal and I just said it was okay, I had no intention in complaining. But she then asked if something was wrong with our meal so I did explain that the meatloaf was hardly a sandwich just a slice of meatloaf with soggy toast. And she made me feel like an inconvenience for saying something. As someone who had worked in food service industry for the last 15 years I was very disappointed with this experience. Everyone has an off day and I can understand that but at least apologize for not meeting expectations. The menu has an overwhelming amount of options.

We took visting friends here because we heard good things about the liver and onions, which he enjoys. The liver was over cooked and tough. My chicken fried steak was ok but the gravy was lukewarm and the mashed potatoes were thick, not at all creamy, and cold. Our guest ordered chocolate cream pie which came with some kind of weird whipped topping that stood up on its own after the chocolate pie was eaten from underneath it. We left disappointed and embarrassed about taking them there. I dont believe Ill be returning.

My coworkers and I go here very frequently the food is very good and in person service is good as well.However my husband and I called in a to go order on Sunday the first young lady with the crook in her neck as she stated to me was rude for no reason when I was placing my orders she made me feel rushed to do so! When ordering I asked if I could substitute hash browns for grits and OMG she acted like I had asked to rob a bank or something I was told because she had already put the order in she couldn t change it and would need help to do so I thought orders are written down. Moving forward I heard her telling someone what was going on and I was hung up on! I called back got someone else she apologized however I was still given hash browns and no grits never thought a substitution would be this difficult

We got there and were sitting for about 5 minutes and then we were asked to move spots which was fine. But then we sat for about 10 more minutes before our server came to our table. It took 41 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. My son s chicken strips were very dry and the fries were cold. Horrible experience. We went when they first opened and it was great but it looks like they re unable to handle busy times. Wouldn t recommend going unless they re not busy. I m just very disappointed in the service, if they can t handle the rush then they need to provide a wait time for tables rather than sit people immediately and then make them wait an hour. I m not sure if our server forgot to put in our ticket or what but I have never waited that long after ordering. Also there is no changing table in the restroom. That s just unacceptable and seems to point to them being unwelcoming of families.

First time dining here and was very impressed. Started with the small town type service that felt very welcoming. It felt like friends Id known for years. Then the food...Mamas Meatloaf, the size of half a loaf pan serving, was mouth watering (next day leftover was just as good!) and the sauce was just right. For the sides I had country cooked green beans seasoned perfectly and mashed potatoes with white gravy that my grandma would even be proud to have. The pricing was around $15 per person for meal and soft drink. Definitely worth the ride over to check it out!

Me and my boyfriend ate here, I ordered breakfast and he ordered lunch. I had the combo special and he ordered the tater bowl. The food was amazing, I m already wanting to go back for dinner. The place is clean and staff is attentive, very kind and fun. We will absolutely be back. J was our waitress and she couldn t have been sweeter. Food is just ok. Definitely a tad overpriced on a lot of it. Requesting a tip in front of everyone standing there is just plain rude and charging cc fees without telling folks up front when that is actually the cost of doing business, well, thats just rude too. Factor that into the prices! I saw someone mention on FB that theres a sign now, but still, its wrong. It is also not nice to see your food taken to and left at the wrong table first and after that person tells the waitress its not theirs, the waitress brings it to you. That is not ok! Ive been fair since its a new location and tried three times. I just feel now, 3 strikes youre out. We dont care to go back. Ive seen both positive and negative feedback. Hopefully the owner/s will address some of the issues or the crowd in the local area may become fewer.

Was driving past and decided to drop in. It was amazing! Mondays and Wednesdays $8.99 chicken fried steak with 2 sides! Chicken fried steak was tender inside with a hand battered crispy coating. Mamas meatloaf was delicious! Huge portions as the meatloaf was over an inch thick! Mac and cheese was so creamy with melted cheese. There are 3 locations so find one near you and be prepared for delicious home cooking. Customer service was fast and so very friendly!

The food is very delicious. Our server Amy was very helpful since it was our first visit. We also met Laura the GM. The portion sizes were great. We had chicken fried steak, meatloaf, smothered chopped steak and liver and onions. We tasted each other s entrees and we definitely recommend these. I failed to take any photos of our entrees since we were hungry. Our meal was also followed up by some delicious lemon cake and peach cobbler with ice cream. We look forward to visiting again.

What an amazing find today! Blue Mound Cafe is our newest favorite cafe! The Rufe Snow location is easy to find and access with plenty of parking. The decor is simple, yet perfectly Texas homey. JaDonn welcomed us and gave us very personable service, going above and beyond to ensure our visit and meal were memorable. The skilled kitchen staff made our order fresh and hot in a short time. This place hasnt been open very long. The service was great. The food was delivered very quickly. I asked for coffee and we were there in the evening and the waitress was kind enough to brew a fresh pot for me because she wasnt sure how old the coffee was and didnt want me to be disappointed. Theres actually quite a variety of different kinds of foods from burgers, wraps and salads to home-cooking like meatloaf and stuffed bell peppers etc. You need to try it. We literally just happened by it and were glad we went in to try it out.

There are several locations for this restaurant, but this is the newest. The owner is very friendly as is the staff. The first time we came in our server asked our names & has remembered us every time since. The servings are more than adequate & it is home cooking. I overheard several customers say the decor at this location is really nice. I have eaten breakfast & lunch/dinner & food, portions & staff have been excellent. The feel was that of a small town diner where everyone is known & a friend.

Well, weve been a few times and the food is absolutely delicious. However, today the total charged to my card was above what I authorized. When I called to ask about the discrepancy the woman who answered said they issue a 3% upcharge for credit card transactions, but thats not listed in the menu and Ive never had a weird charge before. If thats your policy it needs to be spelled out because wed certainly have brought cash to enjoy our meal there, but after this Im feeling pretty bamboozled.

Our first time here we were on our way to a different fast food, and I had been thinking to myself. We had to get the proprietor of place. We were going to start making Montecristo sandwiches. We had just passed blue Mountain Café, and said we had to give it a try sometime we went on to our destination just up the street and they were closed. It must be fate! So we turned around and came back! They have daily lunch specials and a very extensive menu to satisfy everyone s tastes! To the guy that said it was pretty pricey let me tell you yes it is BUT, yes always a But, the quality of the food and the amount of food you get is worth what you pay! There is NO SHRINKFLATION here! Darrell got the chicken fried steak it was huuuuge! He had mashed taters and pinto beans! I m not a chicken fried steak person because I don t like cubed steak. I don t know if this was or not and Darrell couldn t tell me either way. He said what he really like it was not all crust! He could not believe the flavor of the beans! I tasted them and they were as good if not better than my homemade beans! They were perfectly cooked! I could not believe they had a Monte Cristo Sandwich with raspberry preserves hence fate! There is a high dollar restaurant near by that has one and it is horrible! The one I had today was a burst of wonderful in my mouth cooked perfectly crispy outside and melty goodness on the inside! I m not a French fry fan but these fresh cut fries were perfect!! Everything came out hot and delicious. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile our server Rachel was terrific! So friendly and attentive ! OMG THE DESERTS LOOKED TO DIE FOR! We will be back I can promise you that! We will bring friends!
