Great place, to take the kids. Not as packed as some other places. Only downfall of our visit was it was crazy hot. We even went inside gift shop to get a little relief and unless you were standing near a couple of their fans it still was warm. Outside temp was out of their control obviously. I definitely will make sure next time is earlier in day or go when its cooler.

Looks pretty basic from the parking lot but is very nice inside! The enclosures for the reptiles are well maintained and suited for their animals. The outdoor/mammal exhibits are either already well suited or are being updated for more space for their animals as explained by some of the keepers. You can really tell the animals are well looked after by their healthy coats and feathers fro the birds. The chickens walking around will come right up to you to get some of the feed you can buy, and the petting zoo area is really fun. Be careful with smaller children though, the goats might surround them against the fence trying to get the feed and it might scare some of the more nervous kids. The employees are very knowledgeable, andgthe shows they do are short but very fun! Definitely going to go visit again next time I come to Texas.

This place has pros and cons but definitely my main issue was with the quality of the petting zoo. These animals are cramped together and being constantly overfed. the deers show signs of distress and the whole enclosure is disgusting and an insult to these beautiful creatures. Another issue is the gray wolf enclosure idk if there was another wolf or not but I only spotted one. It was heartbreaking especially since these animals rely on companions. I love animals and I only want the best for them this is why I am leaving this comment.

The Snake Farm is a great place to stop in and take a few minutes. They have feeding times daily. There are some amazing animals you cant always see, even at a large zoo. You can set up interactions with certain animals. They have a petting zoo. And of course, lots of snakes! Definitely stop by when you are in the area!

I loved the animal encounter with Honey the Capybara. It was very organized and informative. As adults with no kids with us we had a good time even in the petting zoo. We fed the cutest mini cows, pygmy goats and lama. The handlers held very informative & entertaining talks. I would without a doubt return.

We purchased the Capybara experience for us and our toddler and it was really disappointing- there was one little capybara, who seemed really sad and scared, barely moved much and the worker with us didnt talk..like at all. We ended up leaving before the 15 minutes because, while the capybara was adorable, there was nothing interesting really happening. The petting zoo was nice, but the little cows didnt seem like they were in the best shape. It was nice to see all the different animals, but the enclosures are so small- I felt so bad for the hyena, wolf. And bug cats..they all looked so sad and barely moved. I dont think wed return

This place was a really cool stop and I would recommend to any fans of wildlife. Every employee really cares for the animals, which I definitely appreciate. Theres a great variety in species, so if you arent a fan of snakes, there are still plenty of exhibits to enjoy. There are personalized experiences you can pay for and do animal encounters, but there are also free shows that highlight animals in the zoo. We spent maybe an hour and a half here, but you can definitely spend more time if you do the encounters. The animals seem to like it there, which is important to me, and the zoo also donates to wildlife conservation. Definitely worth your time and money to check this place out!

The goats and deer didnt have any water and it was extremely hot. They should stick to snakes and reptiles instead of packing big cats into a tiny space. We will not be coming back.

Honestly....we paid to do the Capybara 15/20-minute experience. On top of paying $60 for this, I had to then pay the $21 zoo entrance fee (which BTW, is not at all clear online, but after you pay the NON-REFUNDABLE private encounter fee, when you get there, you have no choice but to pay the zoo entrance fee, otherwise you lose $60. My daughter said the zoo person that took her there was basically silent and that the whole things was awkward. She said she could have told me some facts and history of the animal to which I totally agree. I would never go back, it was not worth the cost at all.

Overall we had a good experience. The only negative I would mention would be in regard to the animal encounter. We paid about $150 for a family of 4 to have an encounter with the red lemur. We were told to wait by the front for 5-10mins before our apt and did so. They did not start walking us to the encounter area until almost 5 mins into our 15 min visit time. This time came out of our encounter time with the lemur. Additionally, they had it in a place near a ton of other park guests who circled around our meet while kids were going under the rope, asking questions, asking to touch the animal, distracting the animal, etc. We would assume if paying for a private encounter we would have had a private encounter. We paid a $150 to have about 8 minutes with a lemur while it was greatly distracted by the 10-20 other people circling around the encounter. Unless they choose to change how they do encounters, I would not recommend doing them, not for a $150 when falsely advertised as private. It also would have been nice to have a piece of fruit or something for my daughter to feed the animal (if possible).

There is a lot to see. They have the reptiles inside and the animals outside. So if it gets too hot, you can take a break inside to cool off. There is also a snack stand outside. It serves a lot of various snacks (lunchables, Italian ice, ice cream, drinks, margaritas etc.) A little on the expensive side, but they have a captive audience usually. It is still good. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. There are animal talks about every 30 minutes about the various animals they have, each time is a different one. The mining gems/fossils are neat for kids (paning?). There is a feeding/petting zoo with a lot of goats, a couple of deer, and some small cows (calf). Super fun. You can also feed camels for $15 per person at the time of posting. Plenty of parking. They have plans to expand in the future. Also the show Dirty Jobs filmed here.

This place is incredible!!!! Walked in on Sunday morning around 11 and it was a ten minute wait to get tickets. If you can buy online I would recommend. We have visited new braunfels so many times and have never taken a moment to step inside the Animal World Snake Farm Zoo. If you are a local, or just visiting, I recommend you check this spot out! They have so many animals for you to see and feed. Adult admission is $19.99 and childrens admission is $15.99. Meal worms to feed the birds is $3 and feed for the petting zoo is $5. We spent around $50 for one adult and a child to visit this place. They also have other solo encounters you can have one on one with the animals, but we skipped that this time. This is 100% kid friendly and if I lived here I would visit more often! Check out the pics for some of the cool animals they have to see.

Fun zoo, theyve done a lot of updating and it looks way better. We did a fox encounter and it was fun but the fox didnt like it, and the handler didnt seem thrilled to be doing it either. Overall good time.

The exhibits are great. Lots of opportunities to feed the petting zoo animals ($3 per cup), free to feed the tortoises, and many more large mammals than expected including white lions and hyenas. But... only 1 bathroom? Visited on

Staff members are very personal and make it fun for all guests to enjoy with their guest interaction. They educate you on animals while being fed. Best part was the snake interaction and feeding Zoo!

Husband and I had a fun time here. Enjoyed the animal feeding by staff and the diverse type of animals. This is not just snakes. You can actually go inside the petting zoo to feed. Not from the fence. We had a wonderful time.

This place has grown a lot. I was unaware of the additions and was not disappointed. The wolf was in distress, the lion depressed, and the little fox was clawing at the door. You can see the foxs claw marks. As an adult, it was hard to enjoy seeing all that, but the children enjoyed seeing and feeding the animals.

We paid over $200 for 2 adults and 4 kids, was there less than 30mins before 3 of the kids needed the bathroom. There was only 1 restroom that already had a lime wrapping around, we had to leave just for the kids to use the bathroom. They refused to give a refund or another pass to enjoy the farm. You cant make kids just hold it in and there should have been more accommodations for the public. Thats to much money for what we experienced.

We had such a great time!! Zoos and sanctuaries are often a must do when visiting new cities. Animal World is a wonderful part of New Braunfels! The free range birds keep things interesting along the paths, the staff is abundant and helpful, and the animals are stunning! Great mix of critters from all over the world. No way we could pick what was our favorite! The animals were active at various times during our visit, making for a new interesting experience as we made our way around the area several times. The info by each habitat was interesting and we really enjoyed feeding the capybaras and camels!

This was a surprisingly good excursion with the grandkids. Save time for the petting zoo at the end. The goats are adorable. The downside was that the extra experiences were fairly expensive, and they didnt let you get close to the animals that were premium attractions. Still, it was worth going.

Great place to come and relax, especially during feeding time. I come here at least twice a week after work just to clear my head before I go home to the wife and kids. The prawn enchiladas at the gift shop are pretty good too, albeit a little on the spicy side. Clean bathrooms as well.

This is a nice little zoo! Its expanded greatly over the last couple decades from a little roadside attraction to a full fledged and accredited zoo, which is great to see. The place is kept in great condition, and the animals all were active and in good health. The staff were all well informed and friendly, and the different live shows and experiences made for a very enjoyable experience. I personally did the fennec fox experience, and got to spend some time petting Joe, an adorable fennec fox that was super soft to the touch! They have plenty of shade in the outdoor areas with covered pathways, so youre not going to be in the sun all the time, which is nice. The place has been undergoing renovations, too, and the habitats for the animals, and pathways for the humans, look better than ever! While I very much enjoyed my time here, I do have two complaints I hope this place works on in the future. A lack of bathrooms and food/water. Theres a single bathroom, and several port-a-potties in one corner of the facility, and the only food was some bottles of soda and water with a water fountain at the front desk, and an ice cream truck in the back. A full fledged snack bar and expanded restroom facilities would help to make this place even better than it already is.

Nice little sanctuary/zoo. Dont let the name mislead you. They have a nice assortment of animals that you can get fairly close to. Its not a huge place so you can cover they whole thing in a few hours. We visit fairly frequently and our son always has a great time.

This is a great small zoo. I thought it was just snakes, but they have big cats, a wolf, gibbons, parrots, and more. My son loved the fennic foxes. I guess my only complaint is that the enclosures seem a bit small for the big cats, but it is what it is. Great reptile section. So many snakes lol.

I accidentally purchased tickets for 4/7 instead of 4/6. Showed up 4/6 completely oblivious, but the staff for general admission and the private viewing accommodated me and it was an incredible, seamless day. Thank you to all - I will definitely be donating/spreading the word that this place is fun, professional, and worth it.

We loved this snake farm zoo, it s very nice place to go if you love snakes, wild and farm animals and you can feed them as well. Very friendly, well informed people, clean and quite zoo. We didn t buy the tickets before, no line and it was Easter holiday. You can buy for additional cost some food to feed animals, 5$ cup, happy animals and happy kids! Free shows with animals every 30 min. Absolutely recommended.

What a wonderful place to visit. There are numerous snakes and lizards to view inside. And outside theres a variety of high interest animals to see. There are free 30 minute educational shows throughout the day, and theres a petting zoo for kids and adults alike. The zoo also offers up close encounters, $50 for 15 minutes. I was able to hold an adorable little Fennec Fox and to interact with a Lemur. The handlers Dina and Sam really cared about the animals and showed excitement while showing them to me. Thank you both for my great experience. And special mention to Bella who was working reception. She was so helpful in getting me where I needed to be. She really made me feel welcome. I really enjoyed day and spent about 4 hours total just taking it all in. You could rush through and see it all in an hour, but why do that? This place is a true gem. Go see for yourself!!

It was so nice and fun. My son had a blast being able to learn about reptiles and animals also paid extra beside entry fee so he could hold a huge snake (bigger than him) which was the best part for him besides feeding the camels and other animals there as well. Easy to find with google maps!
