We had an awesome time. This is an outdoor establishment so be aware of the heat. Realized our fan was not at the highest setting so fixed that and it was more comfortable. The biggest issue which tends to happen in outdoor eateries is the flies which happens to be a trigger for our oldest. The quality of the food and service more than compensated for this inconvenience in my opinion. Like that they had cornhole which I would check out when waiting for the next round of AYCE snow crab! We had a good time and look forward to the next visit.

1st visit: The server had minimal information about food preparation or spices used. The ettoufee was bland, and the experience left us underwhelmed. We will go back, probably on a weekend night during autumn when its cooler. Where we can listen to live music, share a crab or crawfish bowl, and enjoy the Cajun vibe.

must say even for this time of year the crawfish were not that hard! they were so good! the blue point crab was spot on with flavor and cooked just right! The Frog legs are the best I have ever had besides my grandmas in Louisiana! The butter is just the right touch! 5 stars all the way! Also the service from the waitress, cooks and the owner were perfect!

This place could have become our go-to for crawfish but well never visit here again. I read several recommendations that they have the best crawfish, but that wasnt our experience. Food wise, the seasoning was on point but the craws were very overcooked and dry. We couldnt get any veins to pull out with the tails and the heads had zero juice in them. The shrimp was also overcooked and very salty. The atmosphere is kind of run-down, its an all outdoor patio seating with some canopy cover shade. There were flies everywhere, constantly trying to land on our food. I definitely wouldnt recommend going on a very hot day. Especially since they only sell bottled water and no free tap. My second biggest disappointment was with the bill. We ordered 10lbs of crawfish and 1lb of shrimp. Our server asked us if we wanted sides and we said yes to all - corn, potatoes, and sausage. The shrimp was supposed to come with sides, but not only did we not get those, we were charged extra for those we didnt. When you get the bill, the handheld machine only shows the total and not the breakdowns. I even clicked on the screen to try to see the itemized bill and couldnt. We assumed the beers were more expensive than we thought, but turns out it was the higher prices on those sides that added up more than we expected. Side prices arent on the menu, so Ive attached a pic of the receipt so yall can reference if you do visit. I ended up spending $170+ when we thought we were getting a great deal on crawfish special at $5/lb. Also FYI - the suggested tips on screen are based off of subtotal AND tax, didnt know that either at the time. Now the biggest disappointment and the main reason why we would never go back: I belong to a FB crawfish group where this restaurant advertises. I shared my experience hoping that the business would improve these flaws or even offer an olive branch for their mistakes. Nope! He responded with a negative response and blamed me for not asking for clarification at the time of payment. How could I have known we were getting overcharged when they didnt provide any itemization? Which you only get via email after you leave the establishment. I guess its now the customers responsibility to oversee restaurants billing operations.

Owner and waitress were very nice and view and atmosphere is great! Just was wishing for more authentic Cajun food. They dont serve seafood gumbo which is my favorite.. Only chicken sausage which isnt gumbo to me.. Wish they used less salty boil and added garlic lemon, onion for that real Cajun flavor Im looking for. Crawfish were pretty muddy for me ,but my daughter liked them. Gotta find crawfish pies and seafood with oysters somewhere else.. Oh and perfect place if you wet sweaty with pets after a hot summer days. No judgement here!! It being all outside.

Heard about this place from some friends saying it had the best crawfish this side of the Sabine river. I can honestly say that the crawfish were Amazon. Josh and his crew really know how the cook them. Along with the crawfish my family got alligator bites, crawfish ragoon, lobster rolls, alligator po boy, and the frog legs. Dont miss out on those frog legs. The wait staff was great and while they had a live band it wasnt overly loud. I will be going back and recommending it to other people.

The family loved the laid back, music filled vibes that were going on here. Yes, there is sun, and its outside, but it made up for it with shade canopies and a good breeze We really enjoyed the live music and cant wait to visit here again. Kid-friendliness: Its picnic tables, so expect that the littles are going to want to stand on the seat, or need a boost. Its messy, bring lots of wipes. My youngest and teenager really enjoyed it all around. But, definitely expect them to want to cruise around to look at everything.

When you first drive up and park, you think, what a dive. Been to many really good dives so wasnt put off at all. Had a bock and Twisted Tamales, soooo good! Everyone around us was eating the crawfish as they were running an all-you-can-eat special that particular day. Apparently, the special was posted on their facebook page so be sure to check that out before you go. It was an unexpectedly cool, drizzly day so I wasnt dressed warm enough. Seating is 100% open air with the smaller area under a covered patio and that was full. We had to sit under the canvas tarps. Check the weather and dress appropriately!

Update: As stated before there was a long wait not to mention we were at the bar area and still couldnt get service, when we finally did and we found a seat we waited another 45 mins just to be told sorry we sold your crawfish when we could of been told upfront and No the wait wasnt due to us...we patiently waited and didnt complain till we were told hey we sold your order but you can buy crab and shrimp when we came for crawfish then to watch two groups of people that were behind us get served crawfish in an insult and terrible customer service guess theyre preorder didnt get sold huh please explain

This is one of the best Cajun seafood you can get in Central Texas. The crawfish are small at times during off-season, but you can get em here. They are just as good every time. The boudin dip and the Cajun street corn appetizer are a hit. If you are not full when you leave here, you werent eating. Great food and excellent service. Lazy Js is in my Top 5 restaurants anywhere around. Parking: They get busy in the evenings but I have never had trouble finding a spot to park. Worst case scenario on a busy evening, you might walk 100 yards....worth it.

Worst crawfish Ive ever had...and Ive had A LOT of crawfish over the years. They were over cooked so very hard to get out of the shell and wasted a lot because the meat stuck to the shell. Took an hour to get our food. The seasoning was VERY salty. I was so disappointed threw most of the crawfish away and ordered shrimp because I was so hungry and was told the shrimp would take only 6 minutes. 40 minutes later the shrimp are served and are over cooked also. 1 pound of shrimp came with only 1 small potatoe and pc of corn when the menu stated otherwise. I was told 2 times the shrimp were cooking when I could see they were not. I was told 3 times my beer was coming....I finally got my own at the bar. This place was a total letdown because it had high reviews. I will definitely never go there again. Ive never left a Google review but felt I should do so from this experience.

Dont get the crab. We paid for 2 snow crab clusters each, and these were about 2-3 times smaller than youd get at the grocery store. We were told this was why they were marked down (to $20/pp...), but that wasnt mentioned on the post or when ordering. So we were a bit shocked (and embarrassed) when the food was delivered because its the whole reason we came with our friends. In any case, the service was great, and rest of the food was good (shrimp, and appetizers). But the crab was really disappointing. Simply communicating the size prior to ordering would have set better expectations and improved our experience.

I would like start by saying we actually did truly love this place and their food. We have been MANY times, however, we will not be returning!! We very clearly saw 3 gentleman smoking weed in the corner * with kids running around, one of the owners children included* my husband is a police officer and spoke to one of the owners (we assume he asked them to put it out but he didn t seem to care), so when they walked by us we decided we would get up and leave as that s not okay with us since it is illegal! However when we went to pay my husband was speaking to the server about it & one of the 3 guys overheard while paying and decided to walk by and cuss at my husband, they then started issues and my husband proceeded to call law enforcement. One of the owners standing by watching the entire time. The guys then spoke to the owner and ran to their vehicles and peeled off (it appears they knew the owner there personally). This is not an environment we will take our kids to any longer and will not support an owner that allows people to talk derogatory towards law enforcement (guys were calling him trigger happy, bi** a** white cop, etc) after seeming to be very supportive of law enforcement and friendly for the past year we ve been coming with our children and family!!!

My friends and I were looking for a good crawfish/ Crab leg place to go and eat in New Braunfels Texas, and needless to say we were not at all pleased by Lazy J. First off customer service was great but when we got to the food portion that s where it went south. We got an order of boudin and it was bland, it had no flavor and my friend said it tasted gritty and like it came from Walmart . Secondly we got elote and that was probably the best part of our meal, it was creamy and very flavorful. We ordered all you can eat crab legs and the first batch was very yummy and pleasing but then the second batch was uncooked and ice cold to the touch . Our 4 pounds of crawfish that we ordered came out and they were very dirty not washed at all. We didn t let that discourage us but when it came to trying the crawfish is again had absolutely no flavor and tasted uncooked, the tails were black after peeling away the shell, and it was an immediate no for us all. We also ordered the Cajun chicken sandwiches and my friends didn t even finish them, the meat was still pink and AGAIN they said it had no flavor and the flavor it did has was gritty and was not enjoyable. We will not be going back to lazy j for seafood anymore, again the customer service was great but the food overall was very displeasing and had us wanting to leave after the first two bites.

When I got there the place was empty and only the employees were there. And should have left when I saw my order come out of cooler from Target. But the people were so nice and I couldn t do that. Just not their fault, but maybe the website is. I don t think I m going back there again.

Then the owner approaches us and blames the staff from the previous night for not sorting the crawfish and asked us to wait for the next batch. Which original I said yes and my son was like we aren t waiting another hour for disappointment. The waitress came over we asked for our ticket and she explained that the owner was BSing us about the food. Our ticket was supposedly competed but we still paid $50+ for waisted time.

My wife Tara and I had the pleasure of meeting Josh, the owner of Lazy J Cajun. In a world where people don t often take time to get to know their neighbor, Josh is the exception. His crawfish are exceptional, however, what s more remarkable is his dedication to his customers and ensuring they have a great experience. Southern hospitality and great food at its finest. Highly recommend many times over

Menu very limited, sell tea in a bottle, so charged for refills. Dead mudbugs on the floor by the table wait staff wouldnt pick up, so I did. 2 huge dogs roaming around trying to get in your plate & drooling on you, & flys everywhere. Overall very very disappointed & would not recommend coming here.

Best crawfish in NB hands down. I haven t had better in Austin or San Antonio so maybe the best in the hill country. Be prepared to stuff yourself because you just won t stop. After you have devoured a shameful amount of seafood get the banana pudding and count your blessings. This place is phenomenal

He told us to try his wifes recipe of the banana pudding (paiges pudding) and it was so good, we ordered 4 to-go! Lol. I would HIGHLY recommend this place! I ordered the boudin dip to go as well. The absolute best hole-in-the-wall (and I mean this in a good way) out in the middle of nowhere!! We give this place a 10+ and can t wait to go back on a weekend evening to enjoy some live music. Plenty of picnic tables outside to sit on, and super cool, ambience. The guys that run this place are amazing! I have always been the odd man out, not being able to handle Cajun food. These guys made my food so that my lips would not be on fire. The flavor was still amazing! The pink sauce was the bomb! Do yourself a favor and take the trip. You won t be disappointed.

I will say they should offer buckets of beer, but that may just be a personal preference of mine. Plus for me was the cute pups walking around, they did mind their own business and didn t bother anyone, but I love dogs so it made the experience that much better.

My husband and I are crawfish enthusiasts. A crawfish boil gives me the same feeling as Thanksgiving. So, needless to say, were pretty critical of restaurants crawfish. The Lazy J cooks perfect crawfish! We went today to celebrate my step moms birthday and got their cooler special. We had one of our guest cancel on us but it was so good we had no problem polishing off the whole cooler! Everyone is friendly and personable and the vibe is top tier. My one and only complaint is that there wasnt enough shade but looking through the pictures it seems like we just missed them lol Ive followed them on Facebook to keep up with their events so that we dont miss out on anything! Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space to let the kids run around and play in the dirt.

What a great experience, again! Ill start with the atmosphere. It is an amazing outdoor restraunt. You get the true feeling of being in the back yard. Its even better that they are family friendly. The food was top notch and hit the spot for everyone. They have their own homemade dipping sauces that are to die for. Dont pass them up. The seasoning are on point. Not to mild yet not to spicy. The service was like youre at a 5 star restraunt. We were checked on multiple times by our waiter whom was very well mannered and polite. The owner came by to personally check on us twice! What restraunt still offers that. Our food came out quickly, hot and ready to eat. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I ve driven down Hunter Rd most of my life & took notice a few years back that this place has been done up. Finally decided to try it and I m glad I did. I m a huge fan of eating Fried, grilled or blackened catfish. I was blown away by the taste and texture of their Catfish. It was the Best yet, that I have eaten. My husband who isn t a fan of Catfish at all, was also blown away by a forced taste test. Turned out he ended up eating half of it. That should speak volumes to how good it is. It was served over white sticky rice and I had the etouffe on the side. I will say I m more of a rice pilaf gal, however the white rice actually balanced out the taste and the heat of the Cajun blackened catfish. Since it was our first time here, My husband ordered the hamburger to play it safe. He said it was good, but agreed he was impressed w/the Catfish. The overall ambiance of the location is very very casual and feels as if your in your own backyard. We went in and it was just the chef & waiter working. The waiter was a young HS student, however he was very attentive and pleasant to just have a casual conversation with as we ate. As it was w/the Chef, who went on to explain why the catfish we ate was delicious. He explained It was a Yellow catfish, which obviously makes a Huge difference in taste. For dessert we had their banana pudding and it was delicious. I took half of it home to let my picky daughter try it. She gobbled it right up and left the bowl clean. We are definitely going back. Maybe will try the King Crab legs or Aligator

Service was good...beer was cold. The food was not at all cajun. It was basically a backyard...the price doesnt match the quality or the presentation. They cooked on a grill, which of the pricing had reflected the minimalist area and menu, I could respect what we got...the potato and corn had no flavor (tasted like they were boiled in plain water), the shrimp was not spicy, the gator was over cooked and certainly not real blackened. The gumbo was not as thick as it should be, more like a chicken and sausage soup. Vastly overpriced!!!! Poor quality food. Great atmosphere for live music and a beer...thats about it.
