One of the best BBQ joints in town, despite it being a chain.... Not as expensive as that nasty place up the street (opposite of white) but a lil spendy... Blackberry cobbler hits the spot for dessert if you have room... Other flavors too, but thats my favorite... Get the ice cream w it too, (OG trick, leave ice cream up in freezer till youre ready to start on your alamode desert)

The sausage isnt very tasty, its rough and not our style. If you love luling market sausage, you will NOT like this. Totally opposite. The BBQ sauce is very watery and sour. I couldnt enjoy that. The beans were really sloppy and thick. The green beans looked good but tasted horrible, like generic no flavor, the Mac and cheese was ok. 93.00$ down the drain. Its not our style of BBQ. 1 thin slice of brisket was $14 !!! Like what? Come on.

The staff is friendly and the place is clean, but the food was just disappointing. Blacks bbq does a better job with that. Had the sausage and beef ribs. The sausage had a watery flavor and was cold. The ribs were so dry. Honestly, husband was most shocked at the bbq sauce, that ain t sauce, probably ketchup and water.

Well what can I say we have been trying BBQ joints out from the beginning of the pandemic. Driving for good BBQ isnt just about the drive but the destination. My niece recommend we try this place. First let me say my 3 star has nothing to say about the service and atmosphere. Staff is super friendly. If you love beans they are free and not bad at all. We ordered a half pound of brisket. Some pork ribs and Sausage. The brisket was a little salty for my taste and the ribs are more competition style not exactly fall off the bone but overall good. The fatty side of the Brisket was great but the lean side was very dry. Maybe just a bad day on the pit. Sausage was okay but not something Id have to drive to get. Please also understand that everyone has a different taste for BBQ. Wife loved the Green beans. Im a potato salad guy and was a little disappointed. It had a great flavor but was almost like a cold mashed potato. I could see myself going back to try again if I happened to be in the area but not as the sole destination. I like my BBQ a little more on the Juicy side.

I have been a bbq lover for over 60 years and have eaten smoked brisket at so many restaurants in Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma that I camt count them all. Today I stopped at Coopers in New Braunfels, TX with high expectations, but was VERY disappointed in the chopped brisket sandwich. On a scale of 1 -10 it rates only 4, but its value (it was $11.89 tax included) rates only a 2 -- just not worth the money.

I m somewhat of a barbecue connoisseur. Visited the major spots from franklins, terry black, to 2m barbecue. So when I tell you this was the most disgusting brisket I ve ever had in my entire life, believe me. I don t know if this was just a bad day (unacceptable excuse still imo) but we should ve took the hint when the parking lot was empty that this spot was not it. So after an exhausting 3 hour river ride I would highly recommend to go somewhere else.

Ive dined at Coopers a few times ...and let me just say: their food is phenomenal! You absolutely cant go wrong with what you choose to order! Typically they serve mouth watering smoked meats by the pound, but I have seen lunch specials which may include a sandwich deal. Ive personally tried their brisket, chicken, and sausage. All meat is fall apart tender and have that smokey flavor that I love about Texas barbecue. They do charge by the pound (barring any lunch specials) and you purchase your side and drink separately...so beware that the cost can add up quickly. I know from experience that both their potato salad and green beans are excellent, while my daughter enjoys their home style mac and cheese. They do offer complimentary pinto beans that can be a tasty yet economical side choice. Just a rocks throw from San Antonio, this joint is located in New Braunfels. It is worth a trip to come here for great Texas barbecue.

The food was really good -- especially the big pork chop. It looked like it was going to be dry, but it was moist and flavorful all the way through. Special shout out to the pinto beans, which are complimentary and amazing.

The beef ribs were tender and moist with great flavor throughout, a nice crust too. Always the best beef ribs in Texas! The sausage was good as well. The potato salad always one of my favorites. And the crock of endless beans, always a treat. The chicken is also done perfectly with a great flavor and texture throughout. Brisket and turkey, not my thing so cant comment on those but I bet they are also just as amazing as everything else here. This place is flat out, excellent Texas Barbeque. Eeyore says 5 tail spins and must return as long as they dont start serving barbecued donkey....

I have never been to a restaurant like this. You walk in the door and are greeted with the butcher, hes got an assortment of meats laid out, you tell him how much you want, he slaps it on a tray and hands it off to the next guy. That guy proceeds to slice up what you got and put it in butcher paper on a tray. Head down the line and pick out cole slaw, potato salad, garden salad (cold selections), next another guy dishes out your choice of warm selections, macaroni and cheese, cobblers. Beans are around the corner and are complimentary as are pickles, jalapenos, onions and sliced bread. We got 4 pork ribs, 2 thick slices of Turkey and brisket, potato salad, cole slaw, peach cobbler, 2 small drinks and small vanilla ice cream. $80! It was delicious and brought home enough for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow! No plates, you get a piece of paper to put stuff on, sit at long community picnic tables. Try it, youll like it!

As Coopers deserves, they were sold out of the pork chop when I called for a pick up order. I am going through a lot on a personal level, but when I showed up.. before I could even walk through the door...I was welcomed outside their door with the most amazing bbq EVER....all wrapped up and ready to go. DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I wont even go into detail of what they did for my family, because it was a very special moment between my family and this establishment. The food is exactly what their reputation has lived up to and WAY MORE. THE STAFF....MIC DROP. Its a beautiful thing to see real, true to their heart people that appreciate others... vice versa. Visited New Braunfels Texas to visit friends who used to live in San Diego with us. They highly recommended for all time pit and barbecue. We didnt know what to expect but the place is amazing. When you first walk in you give them the order how many pounds of meat that you want. They have turkey beef and pork as well as ribs this follows a long salad bar where you can pick out whatever you want at the very end is the dessert bar and probably everybodys favorite. Our hosts picked a number of different items and they were served family style on large tables. The food was typical barbecue but I really like the idea especially if you come with a big group to select what everybody wants and self-serving it at your own table. This was really a first for us and I would gladly go back again. We were traveling in a motorhome and really wanted to go back and get some barbecue for the return trip but things didnt work out. If you havent tried this place you happen to find yourself around the brunt felt Texas I would highly recommend you Google and try this place out. While there is no table service and it is more like café the keep things like bread and beans full on separate serving tables and you can get whatever drinks you desire including soft drinks and coffee. Beer is available at extra cost. Appears to be to be a little expensive when you consider your ordering by the pound or partial pound in the long run I think you come out ahead especially if you bring your family or group of friends Parking: This is a good-sized parking lot and Im sure you will not have any problem finding a space. The restaurant does get a little busy so you may need to walk but its only about 100 feet

I asked for half a pound of brisket to go; it was .80 pounds, which I didn t realize until after I d paid. The pitmaster didn t ask if I wanted that or my rib dipped in sauce, the beef rib was very oversalted and the two baked potatos hadn t been prepared correctly. I don t know if they were even washed, because they were gritty and tasted like dirt. Like I said, ordinarily a huge fan but it was bad.

Outrageously overpriced! Meats are very seasoned with way too much salt and pepper. Baked potato was over cooked, cold and the skin was covered in a ton of pepper. Don t use real plates or Togo boxes gives you some type of wax paper to eat off of. Only good part was the sweet tea! Will NEVER recommend or return They also don t explain the portion size or pricing.

Been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Never. The brisket, pork ribs, pork chops, smoked sirloin, the whole menu . all of it is dope. The vinegar based sauce is great and the free beans are the best ever. Sides are dope. Baked potato is so good. You definitely should eat here.

The brisket was AMAZING! We spent a lot of money but it was worth it! Seating wasn t very comfortable but it was clean. The only thing I did not like about the place is that there was a lady there that gave my husband grief about throwing his trash into the trash can in the party room that was empty and the door was open, vs him putting his trash into a different trash can. He wasn t making a mess, he was using the trash can. She was very rude and told him that that was the party room followed by her slamming the door shut.

If you want brisket, go to Blacks. The brisket here sucks. They dont trim the fat, they give you 60% fat and 40% meat. The pork saves this place, otherwise I would never come here.

My favorite meal is a baked potato with sliced brisket. I take half home. My husband always gets a beef rib and jalapeño and bacon mac and cheese. Only real complaint is, man, oh, man is it salty. Husband gets his rib sauced. Im a purist. Food

In a land of Bar-B-Que, Coopers stands apart. Each item is perfect. Combine them and find joy. I typically get the porkchop, as they are cooked to perfection. I was there a few days ago and they recommended the beef rib. I took both, and it was the best beef rib Ive ever had (and Ive had a lot). I then wrapped up my porkchop and ate it later :-) If you have never been and you like BBQ then you really dont have a choice, do you. :-)

Baked potatoes are good.... hope they keep it up Previous experiences were not good with fatty expensive meat on multiple visits. Positive... the beans are always good

You airways have to stop in when visiting New Braunfels. I had a work appointment and was not missing out on BBQ from Coopers. 4 desserts: pecan, then peach, apple or blackberry cobbler. Pinto beans always on point at the self serve. The meat always has great flavor and the special of the day, Chopped BBQ sandwich combo, was delish!! Stop in and make new friends!

Tried this place twice, but both times the food was less than nominal. The meat is way too salty and beans tasted like water. The BBQ sauce was the only good food item. Fortunately for them, 70 y/os without tastebuds flood this place so business will be fine. Wish it was good.

This was the worst bbq Ive ever eaten! It had absolutely no flavor and appeared to be cooked in an oven and not a bbq pit. For just two of us to eat lunch it cost over $109.00. Unbelievable!!! Theres NO WAY their reviews are legitimate at a 4.4 rating. The Brisket was mainly fat and had zero smoke flavor. Whats even more disturbing is how we left a tip when paying for this disastrous meal. I sincerely hope they close soon and stop ripping off the public for the worst bbq in Texas!

The BBQ was not what I expected from what appeared to be a top bbqer in Texas. It had no smoke flavor and the meat used was from the bottom of the barrel products. The ribs were hog spare ribs and were tough and full of fat. You would think at a minimum they would have used St Louis style ribs where the brisket part would have already been cut off. The brisket was 60% fat 40% meat and also had no flavor and was tough. The chicken was just stupid. It was rubbery no flavor and seemed to be cooked in the oven. The sausage was good would have been great but the casings were very tough. The BBQ sauce tasted like vinegar with red food coloring added to it. The people on the line were nice and friendly however when we was getting ready to leave a lady on the floor brought it to our attention we needed to clean our table before we leave. We paid for two people to dine over $109.00 and I wouldnt have enjoyed eating even if it was free!

December 2023 update; they offer great barbecue consistently. We were able to get a half pound of brisket, a cut of pork loin and a side of mac and cheese for $25. My wife wasnt impressed with the mac and cheese. Didnt finish it but to each their own. Im not a mac and cheese fan at all. We should have stuck to our usual baked potato. Sometime in the past; I really love their Q but the prices seem to be going through the roof. 2 beef ribs and a cut of pork, $44

Brisket was really good today! Pork chop too hard for my liking. Sirloin had a weird taste and over cooked. Mac and cheese also a little too watery. Cole slaw nah also not so good. Beef ribs were really good but $40 for two.. so make sure to check the price because $40 was way too much for me. Rather get a brisket and potato at Rudy s for $10 and spend more money at the smokeshack in San Antonio if you want good BBQ. we spent $95 for two people today and to be honest, was NOT worth it. also sodas / tea had a weird tap water taste (chlorine). Won t be going back anytime soon.

As a North Carolina girl eating real Texas BBQ for the first time it was really good! Only thing I have to say was its very salty but this is coming from a person who doesnt eat much salt. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were friendly, the sweet tea was perfect, and it was very clean. Parking: Lots of spots available in the front lot. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly atmosphere. They had either country or gospel music playing. Plenty of grip mats inside for them not to fall. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps in or out of building. Level walk ways throughout whole building.

Been a few years since coming here. Used to be decent, not anymore. Sausage is under smoked and tough, brisket and sauce are bland. Beans lack flavor and depth. Ribs were ok. Do yourself a favor and go down the road to Blacks or Rudys and spend 30-40% less for much better bbq. I dont know how this place still exists.
