Great place to see nature, and be outside. Id strongly recommend getting there in the morning if its summer time. The heat and the mosquitoes can be brutal. But I love going there with the kids and the family. Toilets: Clean enough. And usable. Dog-friendliness: Leashed dogs are allowed. Picnic area: Picnic areas and benches to sit at.

The park is nice for a day picnic. Its peaceful. I recommend to visit during spring or fall. Summers heat is no joke, even with plenty of water. Im not sure what time the alligators come out, if thats what you go there for. We may visit another time with plenty of time to explore.

The park is well-maintained and offers designated BBQ areas, making it a great spot for family gatherings. We hiked the Elm Trail, which took about two hours round trip, and even encountered a few alligators along the way. Just a short walk further, theres a facility where you can explore local history and see snakes, baby gators, and more! Beautiful, well-maintained state park with great fauna and flora. In addition, toilets and showers in the campground are above average, compared to many other state parks in Texas. The negative thing is that alligators are caught in a very small aquarium - this should be stopped urgently and should be banned. Toilets: Clean Picnic area: Neat and generous

Discover a tranquil oasis just a 50-minute drive from Houston. This lush, green park offers serene beauty and a peaceful escape. Thanks to the vigilant park rangers, you can enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience. While the campground may be a bit dated, it remains functional. Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife, including hungry alligators. For a truly unforgettable night, bring your telescope and marvel at the starry sky.

First time hiker, long time.... desire-er? Anywho, I went when the weather in Texas had changed from normal humidity to windy, cool, and dry. Best decision I had ever made. The park staff and Rangers had the vest customer service.... ever. It wasnt insincere either. I feel like they genuinely are that way and actually wanted me there. They went above and beyond with safety (telling me there was a youngling gator on the trail), humoring me (Im a nerd for wood species and wanted a walking stick and they actually engaged in a full on dialogue about different woods found here), as well as grabbing items my friend inquired about at the gift shop that was IN THEIR STORAGE! Overall, genuine and knowledgeable....100%! The park was extremely clean. Like clean, clean. No trash, public areas were mowed, restrooms were stunning and smelled great for not being air conditioned. The camping spots: did both dispersed camping and 30amp hookup. I wish more of the dispersed sites had been open, but unfortunately, I camped close to the parking lot. In either case, both areas were super clean, had picnic tables, fire rings, and freshly repaved asphalt. This park is extremely dog friendly. Taking my two corgis camping and hiking was such a joy because there were multiple puppers there. We did not feel like the nosy kids at the park! Lastly, there was more natural wildlife to see and interact with than I have experienced in a long time. I saw a massive wild boar when I entered the park, heard coyotes at night, saw two owls that were loud and proud, pet a baby alligator, saw a baby alligator in one of the lakes, saw six doe my first night, egrets, armadillos, butterflies, dragonflies, hawks, brazen raccoons.... the list could go on. Make sure your bring a good bug repellent. It is mostly water and swampland! Overall, this is one of the best Texas Public Parks I have been to near Houston. I will be going back to pet more baby gators, camp in more spots, and hike all the trails (some hiking will be done off the trails). Seriously a good time.

The hurricane definitely messed up some trails with trees down. The grass is over grown on the trails. The benches are not really useful as they are weathered and grass is just way to high to get to the benches. But other than that it s a great place to get out and get fresh air. You can see all sorts of animals. We seen spiders, alligators, snakes, butterflies and a variety of birds. Some cool flowers also. Great place to get away and take a break.

This was my first time visiting the park and I was not disappointed. Ive always been fascinated with large reptiles, so the thought of seeing alligators up close in their natural habitat was very intriguing to me. Its an intense feeling knowing theres nothing in between you and them. It was also cool seeing some of the different species of birds that inhabit the park as well. Overall it was a great experience, and I look forward to going back and exploring more of it.

Not the extremely fine normally used in the state parks. The only problem was the placement of the building. It was a really long walk from out site 120. I love spending time with nature. Seeing them in their natural habitat is always a treat. I find Brazos Bend State Park worth a visit, especially during Springtime season wherein I can find a lot of birds like Night Heron, Blue Heron, White Ibis, Whistling ducks, and American Cootjust being busy scouting for their foods. The main highlight and what Brazos Bend is famous for are the alligators. While walking at the trail areas, I can easily spot them at the side of the roads basking under the sun. Respect and great caution are my precautionary measures whenever Im at this park. Other than that, spending outdoors and nature appreciation is the best here.

While visiting my son in Houston, we took a trip to Brazos Bend State Park, which is about 35 minutes from the city. We hiked the Pliant Slough trail to the Elm Lake Loop. I really enjoy this park because of its natural, wild feel. During our few hours there, we spotted numerous alligators, several shore birds, black-bellied whistling ducks, turtles, and some songbirds (we heard more than we saw). Additionally, we came across a variety of wildflowers, including Mexican Hat coneflowers, Pink Primrose, Prairie Nymph, Spiderwort, Violet wood sorrel, purple thistle, and others. They also have picnic tables and a nature center (it was closed the day we were there. Also, the park staff was very friendly. I regretted that we didn t have more time to spend there as there are so many more trails to explore, but my husband and I plan to bring the RV and camp there the next time we go to Houston. I highly recommend visiting this park if you are in the area and enjoy being in nature. Toilets: Restrooms are available in several areas of the parks. Dog-friendliness: Dogs on a leash are welcome on the trails, but you must use extreme caution around the alligators. Picnic area: There are many picnic tables throughout the park.

This was such a cool state park! I could not believe how beautiful it was, or the alligators that were visible at this time of year! I can t wait to bring my entire family back. The Nature Center was well run, clean, and had lots of employees to answer questions, and provide education.if you go, please read the safety tips about being in close proximity to alligators. We saw lots of people getting way too close, and I would hate for things to change there because people don t know how to follow the rules.

The park was itself was fine, but the reason I am giving this place one star is because we took our 3 kids (4 year old, 2 year old and 1 year old) in the nature center so they could see some baby alligators. When we walked in a nice lady asked if the kids wanted to pet the baby. But of course our kids wanted to look at the snakes first, when they got done they went to pet the baby alligator. However the man hold the alligator was talking to two other women. My kids stood there patiently waiting for minutes just to pet the baby but he wouldn t even look at my kids or let them touch it. Since the kids were standing there so nice they decided to go look at the displays. The Nature Center had these little flaps with facts about things, and of course my kids are still pretty little for their age so our 2 year wasnt closing the flaps quietly he would slam them, but we would try to teach him how to shut them properly. After 15-20 minutes of that we decided to finally leave since there was much to do, so again we went to try to pet the baby alligator our 4 year old daughter went first and again the guy ignored her and so she walked away, and then the guy who was still holding him said, my two year old son could not pet him with how hard he was slamming the flaps. That made my husband and I lose it, because our kids waited patiently when we first got there, the guy ignored my kids, and then to say that they couldnt pet the baby alligator because how our son was closing a door. If you are going to have something like a petting a baby alligator, you should make it inviting to all. That was the only thing our kids were looking forward to doing was seeing alligators and that guy ruined the whole experience.

Starting off our year trying to visit as many state parks as we can with our pass. This was the 3rd and by far had the best playground, as well as a great gift shop for those who collect patches/pins, etc. they have it ALL here. My 3 kids made it difficult to do a ton of hiking so I can only assess the 40 mile trail and the short one to the observatory across from the nature center but my family had a great time, esp with the baby alligator they let my sons pet. I will prob come back another time with my oldest son to do more hiking i included pictures of the souvenir section at the gift shop for those who collect patches/stickers/etc. since I never see reviews with those and they really do have a great selection

A large and well maintained Texas State park with a little something for everyone. There are over 30 miles of well maintained trails, plenty of day use space and excellent camping options for tent campers and RVers. There is also an observatory with star parties on Saturday evenings. The alligators are the stars of the park, but we also saw squirrel, road runner, geese, armadillo, feral hogs, deer, bared owls and a wide variety of other birds. Toilets: Clean and remodeled restrooms and bath houses.

I recently visited Brazos Bend State Park, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled approximately 28 miles southwest of Houston, this park covers a sprawling 5,000 acres of pristine wilderness.

Here you can see the Crocodile Museum, there is a brief introduction to the rustic history of the crocodile. You can also find the plants you have never seen here, feel the gift of nature. I like to camping barbecue friends, you can invite friends at the holidays to celebrate the time. Of course, for those who have fun, you can take your own lover and children to enjoy a ride car in the woods, because there is a tall tree, and hot summer students become cool. In addition, friends who like to ride, you can ride quickly here. There are birds such as lakes, egrets, have a vast swamp zone, and there is a crocodile appearance, maybe it has been crawled on your way forward. Please protect your family, friends, dont be close to the crocodile, find them, please keep calming, face them, slowly retreat, dont be afraid, dont turn around, you will be scared, keep calm!

scenery, quiet, big enough, fit for families! Great for Easter weekend There are places for barbecue and kids playground at the entrance to 40 acres lake. George observatory is about 5-6 minutes drive(slowly) from park entrance. In spring, early summer, autumn whenever the Sun is not too hot, good for a visit,. A lot of walking trails.

Trails are well marked, easy to walk and navigate. Long and short trails. Several groups were there with young children and strollers. Good parking and park personnel are super nice as well as helpful. Toilets: Even a mile out, there was a natural restroom (no water or plumbing, but does the job). Dog-friendliness: I went with my 2 German Shepherds. It is required to keep them on leashes to protect them and the wildlife. Quite a few other people also had their dogs walking.

For state park within reach of Houston proper is pretty good. No more than an hour from inside the loop of H-town. Southwest of the city past Sugar Land and Richmond but still within grasp of the city and the burbs. I found the park to be well managed and maintained. Did not camp over night, but the facilities and amenities to camp seemed very good. There is a fee to enter and depending on the purpose it has variation of cost. Definitely recommend for near city escape to nature. I visited in March 2024. Beware, there are alligators in the water and swamps so little dogs might be prey targets.
