The food was not great. We had a large party at lunch and though the service was good the food was lacking. The majority of our party was disappointed. It was definitely not worth the money they are charging. I highly suggest you find a different steakhouse.

First time I went to Ransoms, it was great! Second time, it was $400 for four of us which was crazy. The holiday drinks were way overpriced. This last and third time, it wasnt so expensive but my steak was chewy and hard to cut with a knife. Although they cooked it correctly, it didnt taste dry aged nor was it tender so it was very disappointing. We never got any rolls but I keep hearing in reviews that everyone got rolls Mine and my Dads baked potato was barely cooked, not soft, and the loaded items could not be mixed in. It was borderline underdone. No one at the table finished their potato or took it home. We ordered the Ocean Sampler which was a bunch of Fried Shrimp that were stuffed apparently three different ways but we couldnt tell what it was and they were fried so much they were brown...like chocolate brown. The Spicy Jalapeno Margarita was delicious but my Michelada wasnt dressed as I had asked for and the waitress knew this but still handed it to me with apologies . The Michelada was so bland that it tasted like a tomato beer. I was very disappointed altogether.

Great food, fun and relaxing atmosphere, and superb service; My friends you ve found home! We had pork chops and salmon and it was to die fore and when you that thought you couldn t eat a bite more! You re tempted with a warm blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and a piping hot cut of coffee, oh my goodness it was beyond delicious! From appetizers to desert 5 gold stars on a scale of 1to 5. Greeted with a smile. Seated promptly. Clean restaurant. The server was friendly. However, when my wifes margarita was brought to the table, the server suggested trying a different one next time since you would get more bang for your buck. Would have been nice to know beforehand. Food came out without much wait. The food was good, not great. Chicken fried steak was chewy, and batter wasnt crispy. Gravy was good. The rolls were hot and very good. Side dishes were very small. Fried shrimp was good. Atmosphere was what one would expect from a country steakhouse. Rustic. Live singer started at 6 pm on a Saturday night. Has outside seating and a full bar. Didnt try the steaks. Would be worth a revisit to try.

Ransom s Has Gone Downhill!! I had an absolutely terrible experience at Ransom s last Friday. I attempted to call in a to-go order before leaving my house, which is 15 minutes away. The first time I called, they answered, put me on hold, then hung up. The second time, they supposedly transferred me to the bar and put me on hold again. I stayed on hold for the entire drive from my house to the restaurant, and just as I pulled into the parking lot, the phone came off hold, I could hear background noise, and then surprise they hung up. Frustrated, I decided to go inside to place my order. I asked to speak with the manager, and Kennedy came out. Her response was apathetic at best, showing zero concern for the poor service. The whole place felt like amateur hour. The bartender, Nicole, was busy goofing off on her phone, which probably explains why no one could bother to answer the phone. When I finally placed my order, I was told that the rolls that come free with dine-in meals would cost extra for to-go orders. Ridiculous. To top it all off, I got home, opened my chicken fried steak, and discovered that they had forgotten to include the gravy. I called back, and Kennedy, who claimed to be the manager, said she couldnt talk because it was the dinner rush. She took my name and number and said the general manager would call me back. Unsurprisingly, I never got a call. Its really sad to see what was once a charming small-town restaurant Ive frequented for years turn into this mess. Greed, missing food, and a staff that clearly couldnt care less. I will never return to Ransom s, and they won t see another penny from me.

First impression was not positive. Yes, I will eventually give it one more shot. My 12oz MR sirloin steak was very tough. I left half of it on the plate. The menu said it was aged 2-3 weeks? My wife said her hamburger steak was good. Sides were good.

This was my first time to dine here. I will never return. Started with the chicken diablo appetizer terrible! It tasted like it was something frozen from a bag. My entree was the 6 oz filet mignon .terrible. The menu said it was wagyu, I beg to differ ! The entree came with 2 side orders. I had the steamed vegetables and green beans. Again ; it tasted like something from a frozen bag. They were definitely not fresh vegetables. The steak came with 2 very small and smelly shrimp. This told me the shrimp were not fresh and probably spoiled and out of date. I do not like paying such high prices for food that I absolutely abhorred. On a positive note my waitress Olga was very sweet. I will never return to this establishment and if I am ever asked for recommendations to restaurants in the Montgomery area it will not be this one. Overall very overpriced and disgusting.

We went Tuesday July 09 2024 Stated with , no ice, then they were out of all kinds of stuff. Order cheeses burger, came with no cheeses. Y The offered two buns, jalapeño and brioche, they brought it out with a small sesame seed bun. My guess for kids burger. Which I dont care for. And it was a medium rare, I didnt not like warm tea and not cooked enough at least medium. It was 17.99 and I couldnt eat it. Hopefully they get it together. I went here for the first time yesterday with my husband and it was incredible! Clean establishment, fun decor, great service and yummy food! Price point was good, servings were large and the taste was incredible! The owner of the restaurant also raises his own cows and uses the meat for his restaurant dishes as well as sells local meat in a cooler at the front of the restaurant. We will definitely be coming back again soon! Great restaurant!

What a fun place! We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. The rolls and cinnamon butter were fantastic! I had the bbq brisket sandwich and my wife had the street tacos. We shared them and we both loved them. We don t normally order dessert but we got the Bourbon bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A great way to finish a really tasteful dinner. Locally sourced beef perfectly prepared: medium-rare beef tenderloin (6 oz.). Piper s recommendations were spot on, including the wine and the rolls with cinnamon butter. This is not a white table cloth place but if you are looking for Texas beef cooked like it should be, this place is worth a try. I will be back and bringing my friends!

We went here on our way to the putt-putt place and it was a delicious stop. I got the chicken fried steak, Mac n cheese & fries and my wife got the chicken Sammie & sweet potato fries. The Mac n cheese is better than it has any right to be, the chicken fried steak is MASSIVE and delicious and the chicken Sammie is unbelievably tender, juicy & flavorful throughout. She gave me a piece of just the chicken, with no breading or toppings, and I was blown away at how flavorful the chicken was. Highly recommend Parking: Ample Parking available

Fantastic food and a great atmosphere. We had a wedding rehearsal dinner on the patio. Started with an assortment of the appetizers. All were delicious with the boneless wings really standing out. Its better than the wing places. I enjoyed the ribeye. It was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Lastly, Taylor handled our large party like a pro. Nice steakhouse on the outskirts of the busy 105 corridor. We sat on the patio because we had a service dog which they welcomed. Food was hit and miss. Chicken fried entrees were good, BBQ sandwich was good, but sirloin steak was not as it was a tough piece of meat. Sides were good, especially the sweet potato fries, but they could have given us a few more. Service was ok, but it wasnt the servers fault as he had the entire patio to cover and there were lots of us out there.

It was my first time here and what an awful experience. My family and I went after church everyone got their food but me and my aunt. We waited 20 minutes after everyone else got their food. Once we got our food everyone at our table was almost done. We took our food to go because everyone was done. We could not even enjoy an Easter lunch because the food took forever to come out. The only thang we got told was it s Easter and we are busy that s definitely not what should have been said. Great restaurant! I didnt even know Ransoms was back there for the longest time! The rolls are amazing, the dessert was amazing, the food is super tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful. Usually at a restaurant I find one or two things I like and eat those exclusively, but they have a good menu and I like to try different things there. I have yet to be disappointed. Ransoms is one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

We stopped to go in a couple of years ago when the food quality and the service was through the floor but having gone there today we found out that things had greatly improved. We arrived at about 6pm and waited at the bar until a table was ready for the seven of us. We all ordered at the same time. Five of the orders ( including two full entries) came at once. Two appetizer orders did not. After inquiring twice about the order and waiting over 30 minutes we cancelled the order and left. Note: Several tables near us (who came in after us) were served before our orders never arrived. Needless to say we were not impressed with you store. There is apparently a problem between order entry, prep. time and order delivery. We did notice that the store was very busy but we called ahead and the personnel said there was no waiting and we would be seated immediately. This is another problem that should be addressed. We have lived in Montgomery for a year now and today was the first day we ve tried Ransoms. The atmosphere, food, and service were all fabulous. We really enjoyed the touch of live music which we got front row seats to enjoy. We visited on a rather chilly night so did not get to experience the full outside patio and lights. However, it is something we look forward to coming back and doing as the weather temperatures rise. Kid-friendliness: My kids were able to find something to eat other than chicken on the menu. I would recommend they add pizza though !

Great food albeit a little pricey! Had to send the steak back because it was rare and ordered medium. Ordered the patron margarita for $14.99 which supposedly came with an extra shot of patron. I thought it would be in a shooter based on other places where I ve ordered that. It came already in the drink which made me suspicious of the extra shot and I could barely taste the tequila at all! I felt ripped off! I d love to suggest that they add some chairs to the bar, dim the lights, and place some pendant lights over the bar for a better atmosphere! We d come a lot more often for the live music if the atmosphere was better!

My entree was ground steak smothered with a brown mushroom gravy. Excellent. Appetizer was shrimp and it was excellent. The sides were average. Mac and cheese with queso cheese? Our first visit to this restaurant did not disappoint. We were a group of friends that had not made prior reservations, but the restaurant quickly pulled tables together and seated us quickly. The atmosphere was perfect, not too cold nor too hot. The wait staff were friendly, smiling and accommodated our requests. The majority of their dishes were surprisingly tasty and was very good. With that said, they can improve on their side dishes (green beans were bland, Mac & cheese was runny) and the liver & onions dish was over cooked and dry. Overall, this is a great place to grab a meal. We highly recommend it and well be dining here again in the near future.

Weve heard great things about Ransoms over the years from friends in the area. We were across the street playing mini golf and decided to give it a try. There didnt seem to be a lot of customers at 8:00 Friday night. One other couple on patio with us, a table of maybe 12-14 inside, maybe handful of others scattered. There were intriguing items on the menu, some of which we tried. One was fried cauliflower. Since they had fried buffalo tenders, we asked them to put the cauliflower in the buffalo sauce. It was good. The crazy thing to me was we received a small basket of fried cauliflower that was 12.99. Or for the SAME price we could have gotten 6 shrimp prepared in 3 ways: Shrimp, cauliflower . Rather than write a long review on everything, heres the deal: The server was very accommodating in special requests, but we waited a long time between his visits and our food was coming out barely warm, not hot. The food was meh, not much flavor. Diablo there is a misnomer. Had the food been hot, fresh from kitchen, some of it would have had more flavor? But Im not willing to try again. Compared to other restaurants in the general area, their portions were small and prices slightly inflated, but seemingly more so with the smaller portion sizes. So now I can jokingly say weve been there twice: our first and last time. Not because they were terrible, but because there are plenty of choices that meet our basic expectations without disappointment. If you live in Montgomery and dont want to travel to a similar restaurant, I get it. Its not bad, we were disappointed. First time here. Nice service and food is great. I recommend the pork chops with mushrooms on top. You can choose two sides with every meal. I ordered the creamy Mac n cheese and the fried okra. They served steaks, chicken, shrimp fried or sautee, beisket, tacos, and more. There is a full bar open for cocktails in the evening. They also sell various cuts of beef, rib eye, sirloin, soup bones, and ground beef. The cows are raised in the area, grass fed with no hormones. I will come back.

This has got to have been the worst meal Ive ever had to pay for, my wife had a filet steak she ordered medium, it arrived straight from the crematorium, it was burnt, they replaced it, I ordered Chicken fried chicken it was not hammered out enough and was a little tough, all the food was cool to put it mildly when it arrived. Went there for our first time with some friends and family. 3 ordered steak, I ordered mahi mahi, one ordered a burger and one had the chopped steak. 2 Steaks were ordered med well... they came out charred and over cooked. A comment was made to the server and kind of brushed off. The one that was med rare was very rare in 3/4 of the steak. The mahi was over cooked and looked like a brick on a plate. The copped steak was over cooked as well and I think the only meal that was enjoyed fully was the burger. The asparagus was soft at the tops and hard at the bottom. For being a steak place, we expected more and were let down, especially with what the cost was. The kitchen should adhere to the ticket and the server should never have let that stuff out like that. Maybe it was an off night, but when 5 out of 6 meals were not right, thats unfortunate. Our server was great otherwise!

Horrible food, small portions and cold. Hamburger steak was inedible and burnt to a crisp! Its supposed to be Wagyu...why on earth would you serve it literally black burnt...not grill marks...like charcoal burnt on the outside. Completely inedible and tasted like dirt and grit. The Mac n cheese were both cold as was the baked potatoe. My sons order was wrong he ordered fish and got shrimp. This was corrected, but the server never checked on us after that food was brought...not once so there wasnt an opportunity to discuss the dissatisfaction with my meal. Never got a refill on either drink. This was the first time we had been back in a year since a very similar situation last year (food made us all sick) but with better service last time. I keep wanting this place to be good. We need a local steak place! This one it isnt even decent. Avoid it!

I had to change my review because we enjoy this place so much but Sat 9/2 we had the worst service we never sit at the bar but we love draft beer and saw you guys had several we never tried before the bartender came over my husband asked to try one of them not knowing I just ordered it she said she wasn t allowed to give any samples out which is crazy cause the beer is all local and how would we know which one we would like and right off created bad energy with us she was so busy with doing her opening stuff we were very ignored the attitude wasn t one of a normal bartender took over 27 min to get our food then she spent the rest of the time with other staff members looking at the menu to decide what they wanted to eat the only thing said to us on the hour and half we were at the bar with no one else but us was you ok 3 times. I feel they should get to work a hour before to have the opening stuff done so the customers can relax and have attention. We both looked at each other and said it will be a long time before we come back so hate to change this review but had to because so disappointed in the bar service the fish was amazing we did enjoy the food.

I expected a much nicer atmosphere for spending $170 for lunch for two people, without dessert. Yes, the food was tasty, but I did not appreciate the extra nickle and dime business strategy. Really, they started off our very first dining experience by saying the 1st two dinner rolls are free, then 0.25 each at the table, and 4 rolls for $2.00 take home. I prefer to spend that large amount at a higher-end restaurant.

Went this evening hoping to enjoy a good steak but what I got was a fatty, gristle ladened piece of meat. The parts of it that could be eaten were quite good and my sides were delicious. The service was quite good but I was not impressed how loud it was making a normal conversation just short of a yelling contest. I think I will think twice about going back.

Just another restaurant .... nothing exceptional ... a wanna be country restaurant ... may sound petty, but I had the worst liver and onions plate I ever had in my life ... I know liver and onions are not for everyone, but cut up into little pieces and fried to dry out and taste like tasteless jerky!?!? Grissel and all!?!? But the absolute worst part of this dining experience? They charge you 25 cents for each extra bread roll AND 50 cents for extra gravy ... for their dried out liver bites!!!! WILL NEVER GO BACK OR GIVE A RECOMMENDATION!!!! I dont know about the rest of their menu as a steak house, but any place that wants to charge extra for a few more rolls or extra gravy can go pound salt!

First visit to this restaurant. Riley was our server and he went out of his way to answer any questions we had. He made sure to check on us appropriately. He even asked the cook questions we had about different dishes. Thank you Riley for your service. We will send you business & plan to return ourselves. Everything was very tasty and prepared well. The portions were good. The Buffalo chicken bites were awesome. I usually don t like that spicy but the flavor was great. We also had the pork chops and they were also very tasty. The recipe will be far different than you have prob ever had before but pleasantly satisfying. The cheeseburger was very good too. I had to try a bite since everyone loves cheeseburgers and it looked well prepared. If you are in the area visiting or driving thru to lake Conroe, give this place a chance. It looks like an old barn on the inside and you definitely have that Texas feel.

I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and the meat was so dry it was like having a mouth full of chalk. No joke. I told our waiter just how bad it was, he took off the tacos and let me re-order. I got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy with steamed veggies. This was hands down the best chicken fried steak I have ever had!! Came here after playing mini golf across the road. There was live music and the environment was very inviting. I liked the food options for the burgers ( grass-fed, Montgomery - raised, buffalo) and that you can customize other things as well. The burger was good. Choose the mashed potatoes as a side and they were really good. Other sides as the asparagus and Mac and cheese were a bit scarse but tasty. Need to go back for the fried chicken steak!

Despite some negative feedback among family and friends, we decided to give this place a try. First impression was that the restaurant inside was HOT. Now I know its summer in Texas, but turn on some A/C. They brought out cold rolls while we looked over the menu. Yuck. My little one didnt feel well after we ordered, so we decided to ask for our order to-go. At first our waitress said she would have to go ask since they already put our food on a plate. She shortly came back with our check and our food packed up and ready to go. They charged us for a kids drink, which we did not order. We only ordered 3 waters, but it was only 99¢, and I didnt have time to wait for her to correct the check. We get home to realize that we didnt get some of our order. The order that she read back to us twice. The order that was already on a plate so why is it so hard to take what was on that plate and put it in a box? Very disappointed. We will not be back.

First, Hunter did a memorable job. We explained it was our first time there. He went over how the menu works and touched on a few of the more popular items. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the food. He guided us into the street tacos, chicken fried steak, and catfish. I didn t like it . I loved it. His advice was dead on. We sat on the back porch, watched the sunset and had great meal. Also, it was almost closing time when we walked in (my bad I didn t realize how late it was), but you d have never known by how how cool and comfortable he kept the service. He really made us feel welcome. Clients will remember how you made them feel long after they ve forgotten everything thing else about the transaction

We used to love Ransoms, but its def went downhill in the last 9 mths. I dont know if theyve gotten new owners or a new cook, but def not the same as what it used to be. We went here for a Mothers day lunch on Saturday. The waitress made several mistakes, but she admitted she was new, so we did not complain about any of them. She tried very hard and was very nice! Our food was just blah, though. The appetizers werent that great. Both steaks were way overcooked. The potato was very dry and the queso corn just wasnt what it used to be. I will say the brownie a la mode was fantastic, though! We normally drive about 40 minutes to come eat here, but sadly, that has come to an end after the last couple of visits.

You have to go out of your way to get to this place. Once there, 20 minute wait on Friday night @ 7:00. Additional 30 minute wait until meal arrived. The excuse was that there was a large party of kids they were busy serving. Pre-dinner rolls were scrumptious. The sirloin steak was extremely tough. Other party members seemed to enjoy their selected cuts. Do not go here to chat calmly! The live country singer added to the already noisy atmosphere made it virtually impossible for conversation. Awesome Montgomery TX staple! Locals dont have to go far to get a 5 star meal in a country setting. This restaurant has excellent service, an extremely unique outdoor concert stage and patio, and the food is awesome. This is a great place for a steak, and they have a solid menu! Do not have senior (over 65) menu or options. Would not allow a senior to get a child s plate instead. We were told by the manager, You can get an appetizer as those have a smaller proportion or you can get a regular meal and take home what you don t eat. Yes, we were told this.
