Went to look for a pool ladder and the service was great! The associate looked in the back and helped me search the store for a pool ladder. Unfortunately they didnt have any in the store. The guy told me to Google it and find other pool places in town.

Disappointed in manager Amanda who informed me I can t return a malfunctioning pop up tent because it has a strong odor and because of the odor she cannot resell it to another customer. I took it to the baseball field, tried to pop it up, it didn t work despite 9 adults trying to figure it out. It shouldn t be resold to another customer if it doesn t work. And if it smells, that s simply because it was outside where tents are supposed to be used. Really disappointing that Academy sells malfunctioning equipment and then doesn t stand behind the sale. Instead Amanda says I can reach out to the manufacturer. Thanks Amanda.

Very clean, organized and spacious. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are very reasonable and they have an excellent selection of shoes available. We bought soccer shoes for our daughter. Definitely check this place out, they have so much more and cover nearly every sport from clothing, shoes and equipment!

2/26/24 is my latest visit, and was greeted great. Usual visit is the deal on the 9mm, but got a box and was definitely helped by guys at the gun section due to the fact that I was looking for the right 12 gauge ammo for indoor range, awesome dudes. And Sara at the register was such a sweet young girl. I will be back, as always.

Came in to buy a bike for my 2 daughters and beach cruiser for my wife. I asked about a baby car seat to put my son in. A gentleman recommend one I asked if they could price match Amazon. I showed him the Amazon page and the gentleman asked over the walkie if they could price match and they said yes. I take my excited kids to the counter to purchase and I m told they price match Amazon only if it s not prime. Most of Amazon is prime so that makes no sense on top of that I showed the associate the page and he approved over the walkie. So I m not buying the kids the bike because why would I do buisness who does not honor the word of there association. I also looked on there website and it says doesn t not price match Amazon if sold by a 3rd party no where does it say not Amazon prime.

I had the worst experience at an academy in Houston, they offered a discount but without telling you that they wanted to give you a credit card and then the machines where I paid did not accept the cards and the bank sent me a fraud alert, very bad service, really.

The checkout person working right now: male, African- American (tag name Brandon , I hope he gets rewarded) has such a great attitude: positive, pleasant, polite and fast checkout processing. Nothing over the top but positively contagious. This is rarely found in customer service anymore. Old white man at the front stopped us. I told him we were in a rush. He looked at me, ignored me and kept talking to my husband. It wasn t even important. He stopped to tell us if you need help, no matter what section of the store you re in, if you want help, come straight back here to the front, let me know and I can call anyone with my earpiece to meet you and help you in that section. We said ok thanks and he stopped us again! To ask us if we wanted an academy card. We told him we had one already and finally, he let us go. Our time obviously isn t as valuable as his spiel.

Academy always has great finds. We stopped in looking for shorts for my guy, found the kind he likes easily and in the size he wanted. We also needed camping chairs, and found a couple that we liked. The only issue was checking out, there were lines at each register and customer service was also checking people out. A few more employees eventually jumped on other registers and got the lines moving.

Yesterday I went to the Academy in Missouri City, Texas on Highway 6 store #240, and one of the associates by the name of Jeremiah, who works in hunting/firearms department, assisted me. Mr. Jeremiah was extremely helpful, patient, and provided an enormous amount of information which helped me further understand the product that I needed assistance with. In this day and age, it s rare to find good customer service, therefore I want to strongly thank and commend Mr. Jeremiah for his excellent customer service. His supervisors and the corporate office needs to know that he is an outstanding employee and he s very knowledgeable about his job position, and he deserves either a raise or promotion. Customer service at this store is the absolute worst. I placed an online order on two different occasions and it was an issue with my order 1.sold it to me get there and they don t have the product. 2nd where I get to curb side check in to pick up a order only to be told my order was cancelled I need to come into the store. When I get inside I m told my payment method failed on an order of 32.00.. not rich however I definitely would ve have wasted time and I couldn t afford the item You stress your concern at store level only to be talked to with sarcasm as if it don t matter. Academy always my favorite store to shop well organized, neat, clean, and tidy. Staffs are very professional, helpful and friendly. I m glad Academy emerged from an army surplus stores in the 70 s to a mega all around sporting goods store today. Prices are very competitive and the clearance are awesome. I used to shop there in the 70 s for all my fishing , camping, and our door needs. I had to thanks Academy who make the prices so affordable in the 79 s for a poor guy like me to enjoy fusing and outdoors. I wonder how is the kid David appeared in the ad who raised his hand and said Academy doing this days. I wish him well and health. Thank you David.

The customer service is always good but selection and quality of products are lacking-- my experience is with bikes and baseball gear. It seems most bicycles on the shelf are already damaged in some way.... breaks, kickstand, chain, tires.... Ive had all these issues with brand new bikes. Ive been able to replace the bikes, only to find new issues within days. The baseball uniform selection is lacking as well-- had to go to multiple stores to find correct helmet/pant sizes and colors of socks/belts. Overall, I have become less impressed with Academy over the past few years.
