Food was definitely different from the usual. They use smashed plantains for breads for the sandwiches. The rice and black beans we delicious. Plantains with cream were very good. The only downside was that the prices were very expensive for the portions. Almost 100.00 for three people. For that very fact, we will NOT be going back.

The service is terrible, first time in my fifty years that they have served me a Venezuelan breakfast plate with an arepa cut in half! Half an arepa, better make it smaller and serve it complete, American coffee with a separate plastic container and a finger of milk, the parakeet will be painted because neither the tomato nor the onion can be seen, nothing... that is, it is just scrambled egg , but in reality the worst of all is the attention of the person who serves, very bad attitude, apparently everything bothers him, what a shame to arrive at a place to be poorly served, I do not recommend it, I am sorry for its owners but they should evaluate the kind of staff they leave their business on.

Im American but my wife is Venezuelan. She and her family have introduced me to a variety of Venezuelan food that Ive come to love. The establishment did not have tequeños or empanadas due to being the holidays ( it was two days after Christmas). We ordered the Patacon, unfortunately the portion was small and not worth the $15 dollar price. Very little mozzarella cheese and little sweet plantain. Wish there was the option to choose between green platain or maduro plantain for the patacon. If you open up a restaurant, I understand if you run out of one or two things. However, tequeños and empanadas are a staple. Its like saying that a Mexican restaurant doesnt have tortillas. A young mother came with her children asking for tequeños as well and after being told there were no tequeños, she left immediately. Overall, the place was not a good representation of what Venezuelan food is.

I ordered food from the restaurant over and went to eat outside with my friends. I assumed the common area was for both areas so we sat closer to the cafe. Near the end of eating a worker or manager opened the cafe door and yelled at us How dare you eat here, don t throw away your trash in my trash cans . Due to this experience I will not ever consider eating at this cafe.

Im going to side with the others and advise that the lady at the front is very unpleasant. We arrived and stood waiting to order for quite some time, 2 other patrons showed up behind us before anyone was acknowledged. She finally comes to take our order and theyre out of the first 3 things I tried to order on the menu. She informed me rather rudely each time I went to order. I inquired about a 4th item and was very unpolitely informed I didnt want that becauase its going to take a really long time for them. Used to love this place, but as long as theyre out of everything with rude staff...no thank you. Wheelchair accessibility: Have a ramp and the entrance is set up well for accessibility but not much moving room in restaurant without having to rearrange all furniture. My husband was not able to even make it to the counter.

Terrible services from Mrs. Lioo. Very rude!!! The food is very good. My daughter ((13 Years)) asked him what the Arepa was wearing. In the end she ordered a perico plate, and an order of ripe ones, the lady got confused. She gave her the ripe ones, and an Arepa. My 13 year old daughter He kindly told him that he was wrong. He ordered a Perico plate. Mrs. Lioo made a very unpleasant gesture she took the arepa, and went to the kitchen to prepare the perico plate. When she gave him the correct plate, she returned to the table with a very unpleasant gesture. and with very bad desire she threw the plate of the wrong Arepa. He told him((Its free for you.)) it made me very angry. I left the place. You are paying for a good service, it is not fair that they behave this rudely, if they have cameras the owner should watch the video and see what I am talking about.

I was super confused because the door said they closed at 8pm and it was 6:40pm. I told her such and she said something along the lines of yeah well when people dont come we close early. I turned and walked out and went to Kung Fu next door and had a delicious dinner. I understand closing early due to lack of patronage on a specific night... but maybe be a little more courteous when a customer is ready to spend their money at your establishment.

Let s start with the basics, been there twice and both times no tequeños, I m sorry but you can t yourself Venezuelan restaurant without tequeños. The first time no empanadas, no patacón, so I ended ordering a burger the Venezuelan burger which is supposed to come with queso de mano it did not! Shredded beef was super seasoned (not bad) but too much seasoning. Overall the burger wasn t bad but of course without the queso de mano you are missing a lot. So I decided to give it another try. My second visit I ordered a patacon and it wasn t bad. But again the shredded beef was a little over seasoned (less than last week at least). I also ordered a cachapa to go, this one said on the menu that comes with queso de mano, so of course I will give it a try. At this point the lady in the register didn t say anything about not having queso de mano, and again NO queso de mano in the cachapa, only mozzarella shredded cheese (no flavor at all) of course I wasn t expecting any nata or butter with the cachapa but if you are not serving it with the queso de mano at least give it some flavor or moist to the cachapa. Overall the food isn t bad but they can definitely do better. For a Venezuelan place here in midland they have room for improvement and have a chance to actually show their customer the authentic flavors of the Venezuelan cuisine. Sadly won t be coming back. But thanks for trying.

I was surprised to find Venezuelan cuisine in Midland so I decided to give it a try. First, cashier won t speak Spanish, no big deal, but odd. Second the menu is a bit overpriced . Not even in Miami arepas are 10-12$ each. Third, I asked my arepa on the grill and they told me to wait 30mins, and try to convince me to order a fried one (which is faster); I said I would wait. 30mins later, I was served a fried arepa anyway. Display says tostones as a side, it s actually 1 tostón not in plural. And coleslaw is actually 1tablespoon of slaw inside a sauce cup. Arepa was good in flavor, but attention was poor, presentation was poor and price was overpriced.

Seriously? How they pretend to have more client and to even make our gastronomy known around the world with these prices ?!!! Competing with tacos in $1 , burritos at $2 ?!!!! Really disappointed , I would never come back to that place !! So sad how they are destroying our Venezuelan gastronomy , if I could give less than a start I would !! DON T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

The food here is really good, but ive given up in coming in to eat in here because of the waitress they have..... the first time i arrived in this restaurant she wasnt very welcoming, but i assumed maybe she has had a bad day or she just might be busy, but whenever she came back to take my order my friend was ready and i still wasnt sure what to order yet i just told my friend to go ahead and order. The waitress rolled her eyes and to not do that because she was going go have to make another ticket. Food was good so i dint l dint let that stop me from coming back. The second time she was just a bit rude in the morning stressing that the food wasnt ready, and i told her i understand to not worry about it. The service that time was okay, so i decided to bring my friend to eat like i said the was good so i had nothing to lose. This 3rd time was horrible. The food took a while to get out, but i had no rush that day so i decided to be patient food came in late and different times from each other which that was fine, but whenever we both finally had food the waitress kept wanting to take the sauces away when we clearly still were eating we had to ask her multiple times to leave the sauces because we were still using them a while after that she just brought the ticket and kept rushing us and telling us you ready to pay? We were going to get dessert, but kept on rushing us (it was around 12 you guys close at 3 idk why was she being pushy) i found it really disrespectful from her part rushing us to pay because whenever we were waiting for food we dint rush her or anything or asked about our food we were being PATIENT and i cant believe we got rushed to leave. I was expecting the same respect. But oh well. I would recommend people to take it to go eat in service is terrible, but personally im not going back.

The food was mediocre at best.. they were out of juices and were out of empanadas! The arepa was cold and it was obvious it was reheated it. The tequeños were decent but they were a little cold. The worst part was the service, the lady attending the counter was really rude, didn t check on me once and was more focused on her phone than providing a good service! I don t recommend this place and I won t be back

The cachapa doesnt taste like anything, the cheese is a joke, the shredded meat tasted very good, thats what Im going to say, the service is TERRIBLE but the icing on the cake is having to see a photo of a CHAVISTA march on the wall while you eat. ..

Food is good but don t go in the morning , the staff is incredibly rude. Walked in at 10 am when they were supposed to be open and a lady yelled that there was no food ready so we just left and last time they didn t want to give us extra sauce even if we paid for it!

Tonight I went to the restaurant really wanting to eat Venezuelan food and the door was closed with customers still inside, when we managed to get someone to see us, they completely ignored us!! I arrived at 7 and the schedule says until 8, I can say that the food is not bad, I once ordered takeout and I liked it! So today they come out with this bad attention!

Very bad service, tonight I went to eat at 7 and the door was closed, when the schedule says it closes at 8 there were customers still inside and the waitresses couldnt be seen having to wait about 15 minutes for them to come out and told us that it was closed without barely being able to open the door. It is a pity

Cafe Unique was an experience all around for me. My 3 stars do not reflect the restaurant. I thought it sounded interesting so I went a few years ago (late to review - sorry) on a groundbreaking, for me, solo trip. I dont normally eat that style of food, but I wanted to step outside my comfort zone. Maybe if I knew more about what I actually chose to get, I wouldve enjoyed it more but as it was the dish I did eat, wasnt as good as they made it sound on the menu! I had some of the churros (?) as well. Its not a bad little spot. It was pretty empty when I went, and very quiet. Id try it again.

I have been eager to go here since I heard about it. I love having variety in Midland! The food was pretty good, but the service was very bad. It was quiet, but there only appeared to be one person doing everything. It took 10 minutes for a drink order, 20 minutes to be able to order food, and 50 minutes before food arrived. The other persons meal came ten minutes later, and we got it to go because we needed to leave. The woman serving us did not seem apologetic about the delay, and at one point walked away from us while we were mid-sentence, about to order something. I dont think I will try it again. The food was pretty good, but not enough to make up for the service.

Place is pretty cozy, had the tequeños for a appetizer and they where delicious! Had the Arepa de carne desmechada with cheddar cheese, let me start by saying that the food took quite some time to come out secondly the food was brought to us cold not warm but cold to the bite! The drinks where okay a touch to sweet for my taste. Probably wont be returning.

I ve come here a few times and I really love the food. We ve brought friends in before as well. First of all, all the dishes are good. I never had Arepas before and they were delicious. The cooking times and amount of time for food to be served is good as well. I brought in a group of friends one time, one with a pepper allergy (a few months ago). The server was actually very accommodating and communicated what the chefs in the back said on their recipes. In the end, the server made sure my friend had a dish that was safe to eat (to be honest, I know a friend with a pepper allergy isn t the best mix for a Hispanic restaurant, but our Venezuelan friend who was with us assured us there shouldn t be peppers, lol). That was very kind and thoughtful and she even brought an additional dish since my friend couldn t have the full Arepa experience. Then as we mingled near the front of the restaurant for a few minutes to decide where to go next, the same server booted us out you re in the way, get out. Rather snappy, my friends thought she was mad at them (I don t think she was, I think she s to the point ) I mean, honestly I m not bothered by it because I can tell it s just due to being concise with wording (if that makes sense). The server is well meaning and nice, but to some people I m sure she seems too quick and to the point if that makes sense. I wouldn t have brought it up, but I note other reviewers have been super offended by the snappy behavior. So I would only advise some work on that end - I adore this restaurant otherwise and I personally like the server as well. I ll be back soon, and I ll update this review!

I love this food and want it every time I come in town. However, today I came in 45 minutes after they opened at 10 and was told it would be 30 minutes before food would be ready. I am on a limited lunch so waiting 30 minutes wouldn t work. It s disappointing that I couldn t come in during open hours and order something without waiting for them to get ready. It would be 5 stars but this made me hold back from that.

The food is pretty amazing, but the service was absolutely terrible. I dont know if she owns it or just runs it but the lady working is very rude. Not only was she rude but when I paid she gave herself a tip from my change. My bill was only 36 dollars and I paid with a 100. She made a rude face when I handed it to her and when she came back the change was 5 dollars short.

It really stresses me out that this restaurant isn t more popular. Perhaps it s the location (tucked back in an L-shaped strip mall, the strange name, or the lunch-only hours, but it never seems as busy as it deserves to be. Cafe Unique is easily one of my favorites in Midland. Try one of the arepas with an egg in it, your tastebuds will love you! Ive lived in Venezuela and while the manager isnt Venezuelan, the food is almost perfect. They could do better on the guasacaca sauce but everything else is great. The prices are a little steep for the empanadas but one arepa will totally fill you up. The wait is a little long for your food, but thats because they make it fresh. If you are interested in trying latin food that isnt Mexican, this is definitely a great stop.

The truth is that the experience was not very pleasant, as a Venezuelan I am very sad to say that the food, especially the Pabellon, which is one of our typical dishes, is very far from reality (the meat was extremely salty and the rice did not have a good consistency), the Terrible service, they did not have cachapas (another typical dish), nor did they have churros (another typical dish) in conclusion I do not recommend the place. Im sorry

Been here several times. Plan on coming only when you have time to spare, or get there early or late; every time I ve been I ve had to wait. This time it was 26 minutes before we (party of 3) got our drinks. There was only one poor lady servicing the whole restaurant. Also, every time they seem to be out of one thing or another, this time it was soft drinks. That being said, the food is really good!! Everything I ve had there has been amazing! I would recommend, but only if you have time to spare.
