My food was dry I guess because it was in the evening hopefully they will not cook the meat until its dry and yes please ask people if they want the fat from the brisket because I like the fat it helps flavors the brisket youll have good food just keep the moisture in the meat.

I often judge a Bbq restaurant based on their brisket. The Brisket here is down right awful. Absolutely zero flavor and it just tastes gooey. Ribs were good, the Mac n Cheese was good, restaurant was VERY clean and the staff was friendly. I will come back and give it another shot, but this brisket needs some help.

The food was delicious. The line was long and moved slowly for this visit (roughly 30 minutes to order). It was very, very hot inside. I dont know if they were being stingy with the thermostat or if there was something wrong with the system. I probably wont return to this location unless its cool outside Dietary restrictions: Keto friendly.

We were a bit disappointed overall. The meats were mostly just OK (the sausage was the standout) and the sides were poor. Otherwise, the place is a Texas BBQ standard, cafeteria style. Everyone was nice and friendly. But we came for the BBQ and left unsatisfied.

Very good BBQ, tasty sides and also some great staff here that makes this a comforting place to pick up some BBQ. The biggest complaint here is that some times they run out of sides and if you dont wish to change what you want, you are waiting a bit for some fresh sides. Parking: There are a few parking spots near the building but they fill up quickly, especially on Fridays and there arent much in the way of secondary options.

Soulmans has the best flavor for me. I ve loved it and its been my go to bbq since moving back 7 years ago. I always get sliced brisket bc I love the consistency. Their bbq sauce hits the spot. However if youre going to spend the money on bbq I recommend GOING IN as opposed to delivery. I clearly put that i just wanted cheese and butter on the potato and to my very unsatisfied experience, they added sour cream to it, which completely ruined it for me. Luckily someone in the family ate it so it didnt go to waste. I will never get soulmans delivered again but may give going in another try. Thanks for the tasty brisket. Forever on a search for a great baked potato again (lol)

We got our meals to go and took them back to our hotel after the eclipse in Dallas. This is a chain, but I dont know if it extends beyond the Dallas area. There were about 15 around the city. Ribs: Spot on for me. Still some bite to them, not just falling off the bone. Perfect. Very meaty. Great smoke. Pulled pork: Really good. Cant top the ribs, but top notch flavor. Chopped Brisket: Got it chopped because my wife and I were going back to the hotel and didnt want to have to cut anything up. It was a mistake. If you get this leave it sliced. Great flavor, but it was chopped too much and that kind of ruined the texture. Probably would have been way better more chunky. Sides Slaw: perfect for me. Just the right amount of mayo, etc. and sweetness. If you know Bob Evans, its a lot like theres. BBQ beans: Really good. House beans: Okay, but Id get BBQ next time. Creamed corn: Good

Great barbecue. I dont think you can go wrong with anything on the menu I really enjoy the smoked chicken pulled pork sandwich. The brisket is always juicy and Delicious although I still dont get it because I just like the pulled pork or chicken more. But thats just me. My family prefers this location the one in Mesquite although all of them are great. Wheelchair accessibility: Two handicap parking spots in the front large bathroom stall with raised toilet. The doors do not automatically open. The serving line could be challenging for a large wheelchair. Staff is very attentive and Im sure could overcome any obstacles. Or be willing to help with any accommodations. But thats just my opinion.

The food is decent however some of the server will wipe the sides from there fingers into your dish which is gross and unsanitary. To be fair they do wear gloves but they also touch other things with the gloves besides food which is very unsanitary. When I talked to the manager she acted dumbfounded and when I left a message to corporate about my experience I never heard back. Poor customer service and mediocre food.

So, were visiting from Atlanta and found this location in Mesquite. Thinking since were in Dallas BBQ it is. So sad! The baked beans were not baked! OMG! The potato salad was mashed . We also got a Kiddie chicken fingers and when I tell you the chicken fingers were fried, refried and overfried and fried again and they had the audacity not to replace them. We went to the car, was about to pass the fingers to our granddaughter and realized she would have lost ALL of her teeth biting into those hard fingers! We only wanted them replaced. BTW, this place is named Soulmans but the man inside was Hispanic. Whats really going on with this picture...the not so soulful food says it all!!!!! Stop perpetrating a fraud! Stop it!

Double Barrel Baked Potatoe IS DELICIOUS. Thats the only thing I get. Chopped turkey meat and the NOT SPICY sauce. Its like $10 though, but its so good. Their okra is good as well. If youre going in, wear and old shirt cause youre going to smell like BBQ when you walk out.

I have been trying different Barbeque places and I came across this restaurant. It was a take out, but they have a well variety of meet, as you will see on the pictures. The gentleman serving the meet, Martin, was very friendly. Their meet was hot, the brisket was so soft and I love the way they prepared their sausage because it was very juice. Their sides have a very homemade taste. I sure will visit them again. Recommend 100%!

Just visited this location and it will be my last. I ordered the double barrel baked potato and not sure why it s named that due to it definitely does not live up to its name. I decided to add bacon and was told there would be a dollar charge which is fine but the container was almost empty with crumbs that should have been refilled instead the server scrape the bottom added the crumbs and proceeded to closed my container. I had to ask if she could add more since it was hardly any and I was paying extra for it. The potato was tasteless! The beef was as if it was baked no hint of smoked flavor at all. I tried to drown it in BBQ sauce and it was still disgusting. I took it back to work to let coworkers try it and got the same reaction it was tasteless but I m sure the trash enjoyed it since that s exactly what it was.

I stopped in today July 19th 2023 for the first time. Got the two meat platter, ribs and brisket. I loved that he didnt peel the membrane off the back of the ribs as they were moist and juicy. The brisket was excellent as well and neither meat needed any sauce on it. I got the fries and beans as my sides and they were very good as well. The sweet tea definitely is a crowd pleaser. They also have an ice cream machine that you can help yourself to when youre finished with some great BBQ. The atmosphere is a laid back with the great smell of great BBQ and the employees were so nice, accommodating and friendly. Great job Soulmans! Parking: Lots of parking .

I usually get the out-of-sight special (brisket sandwich) with a potato and its pretty good however my partner and I recently had lunch here and we both suffered extreme upset stomachs from the meat. I ve been visiting this particular restaurant for about two to three years now out of the five I ve been living in Mesquite. The thing I ve noticed more than anything is that this place is very hit and miss. My first visit was by far the best. I got the 3 meat plate, the quality was good and they weren t stingy. But all subsequent visits have been disappointing. The main issue is that I ve frequently observed that you can literally order the same thing as a Hispanic person in front of you and get less meat than them. I ve witnessed this on several occasions where I ve gotten my brisket (no smoke ring) and sausage sliced paper thin and the person in front of me had a very nice slice of the same thing. I m not even gonna mention the ribs on the 3 meat plate because that in itself is just insulting. Especially if that lady is cutting up the meat then you really notice it. Normally when I see her cutting up the meat I just go somewhere else. The lack of consistency will make me eventually stop coming here and that would be unfortunate. Because I think they do have good bbq but I need consistency. In my opinion the Van, TX location is the standard.
