Cracker Barrel in Mesquite Tx. Jessica was my server and she is the best. She is very friendly, courteous and attentive checking back often to see if I needed anything else etc. I got there a little early for lunch so I tried their new scrambled eggs hash browns casserole breakfast have an appetite for this because its a lot of food I also got their Thursday special turkey and dressing dinner again alot of food with this dinner both very good I recommend either. I wish I had room for the shepherd pie but that will be on my next visit. Six stars for Jessica

Food was DELICIOUS!!! Not sure whos the new cook is or if the Chicken Fried Chicken has new seasoning added to it but it was cooked to perfection!!!! The entire entree was just right... it was not overly cooked or soggy, but dont change a thing with how your cooking your meals at this point. I do think that service with the wait staff could be better with double checking orders to make sure everything is correct on receipt, greeting customers or workers just standing around when theres a line out the door but only 1 person the register. Its okay to learn all roles just in case you maybe called to assist.

I asked for country fried steak with brown gravy, extra gravy on the side, mashed potatoes macaroni and cheese green beans and two cornbread. I got chicken fried chicken that I didnt want I usually check my food every where else but here. I was craving I went to work to eat and very disappointed I called them the next day they didnt answer.

This was my first time eating at Cracker Barrel, and I absolutely loved it. The minute you walk in, you are greeted by an immense variety of merchandise, Christmas, and Halloween decorations everywhere. The food was good, and definitely try their mimosa pitchers!

I like to come visit the restaurant every so often, but lately we get either seated or served by this older lady with short hair ( sorry I dont know her name because she never takes the time to introduce her self) but she is so rude, she would slam the menus to the table or if she is our server she would slam the plates or cups, I dont get it if it is because we are Hispanic or what but she gets this rude attitude.

I went to the Cracker Barrel in Mesquite, TX on 9/19/24 at about 8:15p.m. We had a party of 4. It was going to be me, my parents (who are senior citizens) and my uncle (also a senior citizen). When we got there, I dropped my parents off at the front door because my mother has a hard time walking and went straight to park. When I came in, which was only about 2 mins after them, my mother said that the hostess is refusing to sit them until the entire party arrives. There were literally three maybe four occupied tables in the entire restaurant, no one waiting on a guest list or standing around to be seated. My uncle was just a few minutes behind us. I understand that rule applying if there was a wait, but there was no one waiting at all. When the hostess arrived, I explained to her that 3 of the 4 guests are here and that my uncle is close behind. I asked her if we could go ahead and sit because of my mom hard time standing. She said no, that everyone has to be there. Now I understand the flow of a restaurant, peak hour and rushes but there was no one there so my dad asked can we please just sit down?. The hostess let out this long sigh of annoyance and turned her head away from my dad like she didnt hear him. No one else had her attention. No one else was there and it was quiet and she heard him. She just flat out ignored him like he wasnt even there. I then said well can you sit a party of 3, since there is four chairs at each table anyway, and when my uncle gets here he can just join us. She said no. Not until everyone is here. Even a party of 3 must be sat at a 4 top because the entire restaurant has 4 top tables. I understand if we had a large party that required 2 tables but we were a party of 4 and 3 were present. It made no sense. So I asked for a manager thinking he would make some sense out of it or be able to manage and when he came out he said this... When I told him what was going on, he told us that he has to treat each customer the same whether it is busy or not. If he sat us now with 3 people here and not 4 that he would be descriminating. He said because the black people come in here and complain because in the past he has sat them without their entire party and then the next time they come, when it is busy and he cant sit them them without their entire party, they get upset so now everyone has to wait for their entire party whether it is busy or not. What did he just say to me? Did he seriously think that this was an appropriate excuse for anyone? I am not black but my family is hispanic and white. Why race even came up is beyond me but I had enough of that so I did interrupt him because I was blown away by that comment and had enough but before I could continue he cut me off and shushed me and told me no let him finish. He then proceeded to tell the very rude and eye rolling hostess to just sit us but I was disgusted by his reasoning as a restaurant manager and told him we were leaving. I told him I was contacting corporate because the way he is running this restaurant is absurd. I know I am not entitled to just walk in and sit down at a restaurant if there is a wait or they are busy. I am very understanding but they had 3 tables. I am a manager at a restaurant myself and would never treat a customer this way. We love our business and would never leave customers waiting unless we absolutely have to. I hope audio and video is reviewed to hear the ordeal because it was outrageous and I cant believe either of them are trusted to deal with customer service.

We have pancakes for dinner and I wish the evening cooks clean the grill good before making the pancakes because they taste like onions and others food the cook before, our waiter started her greeting with I m new in training and please be really patient , but is really hard I know what I want, I usually go to this location every other week in the morning for breakfast or lunch , and she still arguing with me about the food order, very unpleasant, that is the reason I avoid the restaurant in the evening

Once our party of 5 arrived, we had a 35 minute wait time. We sat outside in the provided rockers and enjoyed the breeze. Hostess showed us to a table that had not been cleaned yet. She then went to get a towel and cleaned table for us which we were Grateful for. Our waiter was EXCELLENT as well which is why customer service gets 5 stars! As usual, the food was Amazing. We had the meatloaf, ribs, catfish and fried chicken along with some of their famous sides. Food came out hot and no complaints from any of us.

My mother and I went for breakfast this morning. Our waitress name was Anne and she was spectacular! The food was very good, as usual, but Anne made it a very enjoyable experience. She was energetic and very attentive. She made sure we got our food just the way we ordered it. She had a great sense of humor and a very helpful personality. What keeps me coming back to Cracker Barrel is consistent food quality. They really let me down on this trip. Fresh, hot pancakes right of the griddle is what Im used to. I dont expect that from IHOP or Dennys anymore. Too often Ive gotten stiff, warm pancakes that have been sitting under a heat lamp. I thought that I could always get hot, straight from the griddle pancakes at CB. I hope that this trip was an anomaly.

Update on July 26, 2024: My wife and I came here to eat and give them another chance. We got there on a Friday afternoon and got seated right away. The waiter was very nice. The food was very well and good. We will start coming back again. It was very busy but it was lunch time on a Sunday. The server kept forgetting stuff. He forgot my biscuit and gravy. The food at this location is the worst of all the others weve been to. Also, I had $10 off for merchandise, and they wouldnt take it. For the Sunday lunch rush, there was only one checker. Bad management.

Went to this Cracker Barrel for dinner at 7:00 pm. Got seated quickly and sat there and waited on a server. And sat and sat and sat, still no server. The place wasnt crowded, only 3 other couples that we could see. Never came to our table to give us water or take our orders. After 20 minutes of waiting, we left. Wont go there again.

We received exceptional service from the Mesquite, TX location. Remy was absolutely amazing and attentive. I ordered coffee, he took the time to inquire if I wanted regular or decaf. Typically, the server checks in once; Remy stopped by multiple times to ensure we were happy with our breakfast. I ll definitely ask for Remy on our next visit to the Mesquite location!

Todays food and service were excellent as always. Wonderful home cooking style meals(my favorite is the country fried steak with fried okra, pinto beans and turnip greens, with peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for desert.) I hate to leave negative reviews but my first thing is with Cracker Barrel as a whole... they have changed their menu which made me sad and then for some weird reason changed recipes on stuff like their biscuits, and the gravy. Why mess with something only to make it worse. Now I see their serving alcohol... I drink I dont see issue with it but I dont understand why its needed at Cracker Barrel Cracker Barrel has been my all-time favorite restaurant for years and Ive literally been so turned off by these things I havent been in for some time. So today I was really craving Chicken Fried steak and mashed potatoes... unfortunately I had to send it back because the meat literally tasted old. The server was super gracious and brought me out a new meal but my stomach had already turned. Then I take my daughter to the restroom and as soon as I walked in my feet stuck to the floor. The floors were so filthy you could see residue. I walked out and my shoes were still sticky. Management really needs to do more quality control when it comes to food freshness and cleanliness. I feel like I should say that Ive worked in restaurants 20+ years so I do have a small bit of experience. I have also worked for Cracker Barrel and loved my time there.

I ordered takeout for lunch chicken and dumplings with 2 sides. One side okra the other side dumplings. The side of dumplings was adequate in a separate container. The side of okra has 9 pieces of okra. The chicken dumplings which I order on a regular basis when I eat there keep getting smaller and smaller portions too while price continues to increase. If you increase price leave portions the same or leave prices the same as before and cut portions but not both. See pic of side okra.

Food was great. Love the place. Havent been on quite awhile. Our server, Emily, was doing a great job. As a restaurant manager, and long time service industry worker, Im a better than average tipper. I thought she was doing really well and was going to take great care of her back, but then she just disappeared. We didnt see her on the floor for about 15-20 minutes. Had to go look for her to get my check. Still gave her 20%, but it would have been about 40%. Other than that very minor issue, all good. Go between 2 and 4. Thats when its slower.

Our waiter, Jared was absolutely fantastic. He was pleasant, clean, pressed clothing, great smile, and a fun personality. He took great care of us,& acted like he was very happy to be at work on a busy Saturday morning. He is a young man that is going to make a difference in the world. It took them a long time to bring us the food and the place wasnt busy enough to justify it taking so long. The food did not have a good flavor and the steak that my husband ordered was order middle done and they brought it well done. The waitress was friendly but we didnt like the food.

Ive been to this place several different times and each experience is different. Ive only gone on the weekends for breakfast and if you go when its busy, the service is horrible and the food is okay... but if you go really early before the rush its peaceful, good service and good food.

I was not asked the term I wanted my steak to be cooked at ,the mashed potatoes were to watery and to my great discomfort the steak was a little tough and I was in pain asking for a toothpick because the steak meat was stuck in my molars and for them to tell me oh we dont do that

This place has gone downhill, the younger male manager is more interested in the young girls working here then he is the customers or service. If they get the food wrong they are more interested in explaining why its right then fixing the problem. The manager tried telling me it wasnt a hair in my eggs and thats just how they look when fried.I have been eating fried eggs my entire life and they never looked like they had hair in them. I wont be coming back to this restaurant.

The wait staff and managers all need to be retrained. This is probably the worst ran Cracker Barrel restaurant I have ever been to and I have been to many of them! I have also been to this one on several occasions to make sure that it wasnt just a bad day before I wrote this. This place used to be packed with people all the time but that is clearly not the case anymore. Pay attention to the customer!

We went on Fathers Day Sunday and got seated quickly as it was around 3:30 and the big rush had just ended. The girl that seated us was very friendly and the waiter, Jared, was awesome! He was funny, friendly, gave us good suggestions and was very thorough. He was right on top of everything even though he just got a huge table of about 10 people. He was very attentive and just made it a wonderful visit. We will hope to get him again! :D

Always consistently good food! I ordered delivery & everything was exactly how I ordered it. Very yummy & I always recommend Cracker Barrel. Been going there since I was a little kid. Delicious comfort food! Vegetarian options: They have a vegetable plate you can get & pick your own sides. Its really good! Parking: They have a huge parking lot & plenty of parking spaces.

Good food and generous portion, good orange juice. Service is good. The price is a little bit high. The environment is good. It was very busy and loud when I was there on Sunday. Large parking space. The restaurant was full, but I was called very quick after giving my name. If prices are not your issue, I recommend it.

Paying, need a pathway to pay. One waitress nearly knocked my wife down, didn t look where she was going; I had to help her from hitting my wife who walks with a cane. Another lady (?) from running into us While taking a carry out a meal out to the cashiers. Employees SHOULD be courteous when dealing with paying customers. A excuse me or pardon me would have been nice. Vegetarian options: Like most that you offer.

Meatloaf was not good. Ordered vegetable soup and salad. Soup was 99% broth no veggies. Also had spilled onto the plate that it was being served in. So it was not a full serving. I sent it back and it returned with virtually no veggies. I will not be back.
