This year for Homecoming it was important to my daughter and her friends to include everyone. This would include those who may need a group to go with as Homecoming day came near. With that came the challenge of finding a restaurant who would be both understanding to a large group of highschoolers and the need to add to the table count. Petra, the owner and staff rose to the occasion. They did not hesitate to say yes. They were wonderful to our kids and delivered excellent customer service. They even volunteered to take their pictures under the gazebo after dinner. -To say thank you is simply not enough. You were wonderful to them and were a very big part in making this day and memory special for them. THANK YOU!

We had been wanting to eat here for several months. I think the pictures of the food look better than what we actually experienced. Overall, I would rate this restaurant a 7 out of 10 - good but not great. The atmosphere wasnt anything special. I was expecting much more based upon the outside appearance. It was nice and clean, just not fantastic. A table cloth could have helped hide the scratched and chipped wood table. The service started great, but went downhill over the next hour. The place was busy, but felt the service was just a bit above average. The food has the potential to be very, very good. Its kind of a scratch kitchen with locally sourced ingredients. Everything was very fresh. My main complaint is that everything was over spiced, and not just by a little bit. The true taste of the food was hidden by excessive seasonings. I gave the food 4 stars because it is fresh and plated well. But an hour after we left the restaurant we were still tasting spices. Our memory of the meal should have been the flavors of the food. The dessert was great, and I recommend the dark chocolate cheesecake. Bottom line - I may come back here, but there are several other restaurants that are in this $20ish per plate price range where I would rather go.

Service was friendly and attentive, appears to be family run and the folks were kind. The food was bland and expensive. $17 for chicken tacos. The food tasted like Mexican food you may encounter in the Northeast or upper Midwest. All could be forgiven with a great margarita but it too was weak, not sure it had any tequila in it (think Sonic limeade slush).

Went here for the first time and it may just be a new favorite for me. The chips were fresh and salsa was good. I had the signature sour cream chicken enchiladas and those were so good. They fill it with a lot of chicken and their sauce was good and flavorful. I like that they put a lot of sauce over the enchiladas. The lime rice and beans it came with were also good. My son had the chicken quesadilla and he really enjoyed that. Ill be returning to try more items.

This is our go to spot when we don t want to cook at home. Besides being super convenient to where we live, the food is always great (I always get the Baja Fish Tacos), comes out pretty quickly, and our picky kids will actual eat from here. Plus, being a small family owned-and ran restaurant, you will often see multiple family members walking around and helping out the rest of the staff. Vegetarian options: Plenty of wonderful veggie options

Service was ok. I went with my 5 year old son, they did not offer a kids menu until I asked. I ordered tacos al pastor. The chuck of meat were to big that I have to take some of the meat out of the tacos ( you couldnt even take a bite.) I asked for a lime to a waitress. 10-15 mins passed by, no response until I asked someone else. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant.

A lively dining atmosphere thats well suited for friends and family to gather and enjoy good food and drink. The dining area is a modern, cozy design with tables, booths and nooks. The menu is simple and does not overwhelm. The food was hot and well seasoned. The salsas were exceptionally good for dipping chips. The portions are well sized. You can add an extra taco or enchilada for an additional few bucks. I was happy not to see my enchiladas swimming in refried beans and rice.

They got us in, we waited for 15 minutes before the waitress came and we ordered drinks, she brought them and took another 20 min to come back and take our order. She was not attentive at all. Steak tacos are not good at all, tortilla was all gummy and meat was not tender at all. The house enchiladas were ok however the rice had no flavor, the salsa was good however not enough to go back

We ve had Petra several times for take-out, and we always enjoyed the sour cream enchiladas. We did notice that the three times we ordered them they were slightly different every time, which was odd. Sometimes with jalapeños, sometimes without, sometimes salty, sometimes not wouldn t be worth mentioning if it wasn t every time. Food was still good enough to get us in to the restaurant. We took our family of 7 in. The queso blanco was great, some of the best we ve had in the metroplex. We each ordered something different, everything was just ok. We were surprised because we really enjoy the sour cream enchiladas. Service wasn t great for as slow as it was. We will try again in a few months, hopefully a bit better.

We also order out (pick up / delivery) for the family packs for taco night (enchiladas too!). Love the simple dishes, tacos, enchiladas, taquitos etc. all are great to get so mix it up. Also like you can add a taco, or other item to any plate or just do ala carte. Staff is always friendly, sometimes it can get crowded and service might be a bit slow, but that is understandable for a small place. It can also get loud in the seating area as it is open and hard space with no sound damping. Highly recommend you give a try, youll come back.

Ordered the Carne Asada. The skirt steak they used was in my opinion, poor quality and likely a cost saving measure. To top it off, it smelled and tasted like a giant scallop disguised as skirt steak. How could this be? AHH! Look there, scallops on the menu. The Petra line cooks must not bother cleaning their griddles between seafood and beef. I don t have a Mollusk or shellfish allergy, but be cautious coming here if you do. The rice was semi hard and again in my opinion, not made fresh but most likely came from a box pre-seasoned, with the line cook failing to follow heating directions (I have never seen fresh lime rice a bright yellow color before). Now, my fellow guests said there dishes were fine, nothing special but enjoyable. We were all in agreement on the status of the rice. Come on, rice is one other cheapest and easiest prep line asset to pillar your dish lines, please Petra, consider making the change. I will give praise where it is due. The salsas given with the chips were wonderful, especially the verde one. In conclusion I give 3 stars as my meal s main protein was the only one out of five guests with the distinct and unenjoyable taste of the the Mid Atlantic Ocean.

Ordered the Beef Mexicano and the Salmon Ensalada. My Beef Mexicano was cold and very oily and the lime rice that came with it left a coating in my mouth. Not sure what its seasoned with. Not a big fan of the Salmon Ensalada either. Our chips looked used as they had dried guacamole on them and we didnt have guacamole and was the bottom of the barrel as they were just mostly broken pieces. The only thing that was good was the salsa as they had two kinds, both were good. Service was too occupied with talking to other servers and hiding. When I really needed a drink refill and other things. Not sure I will go back.

I really, really wanted to like this restaurant as I heard good things about it. But sad to say, it did not meet my standards. I will start with the queso Blanco with chorizo Enrique style(guacamole). Good flavor for the queso and guacamole would leave the chorizo off as it overpowered the queso. I had the tortilla cream soup. I know the menu said it had chili in it, but it was a ton of chili flakes, and I couldnt eat very much of it. The actual tortilla chips seemed like they had been in the soup all day long, so they lost their crunch. Husband had beef Enchiladas that started off with good flavor, he said. But the longer he ate them, the more the beef had a slight burnt taste. Beans and Rice he liked and the chips and salsa we liked. The waiter was very nice, just offered nothing extra. Meaning, how about this, or would you like to try this, or can I get you another margarita. Just here, anything else, ready for check? The atmosphere was non-existent, especially sad due to it being a Saturday night. Most tables and bar empty, very rudimentary design. Pretty lackluster.

I used to come here when I first moved into the area. Whenever I would dine in, I would quickly be greeted and sat by a lovely lady, and then have some of the best service ever, though the food was meh. The creamy tortilla soup is the only saving grace for the food rating, 3/5. Besides the soup, the salsa verde tasted watered down and almost bland. The exact same goes for the salsa rojo which is a disappointment. I would also like to mention that when I would get lunch, the building would be almost empty, besides a couple guests at the bar, which isnt exactly a great sign of an amazing restaurant. Recently, Ive tried takeout, but the fajita beef tacos didnt have any toppings at all (tomato, cilantro, lime, cheese), and the beef was very dry. Its more worth it to just order from the cheaper option, fuzzys, just a minute down the road.

My wife and I tried this place for lunch while we were in that area. Their food was flavorful and the service was great. We ordered their queso which was really delicious, chicken tacos(we felt the chicken was little over cooked but still had the flavor), chicken tortilla soup was fresh and flavorful and their Salsa was nice and spicy. I would recommend this place.

We had a group of 11 and the server was a very nice young man. He communicated well with the group, but considering it wasnt busy, things were delivered slow from the bar and the back of the house which wasnt his fault. My Cadillac margarita was good, but small for the $13 price. All sodas were replaced as soon as they were half full which was good. We asked for the children to be fed first and he made it happen. I ordered the chili Relleno. It was very good. The pepper was not mush and the breading was crisp with chili con Carne red sauce on top(kinda like chili, but more of a mexican flare. Its served with lime or Spanish rice and refried black beans. The rice was bland.. no lime taste. Black beans were ok...spicy end to them, but just a bowl of thick paste. From the flautas, quesidilla, enchiladas, etc at our table... the only thing that stood out was my rellano and their chips and green salsa. On the way out, I told our server that the female waitresses should not be playing with their hair...gross.

A friend and I had lunch a Petra today and it was great! We were greeted and sat at a table immediately. Our drinks with chips and salsa were on the table in no time. Our server knew the menu and menu options well as we asked for substitutes. Our order was taken and our food was on the table in less than 10 minutes. Everything was fresh and just as we had ordered! Everything was extremely clean and the ambiance was perfect. Lots of windows with great music playing throughout the restaurant! Whatever you do.....Dont forget to order the queso!

I dont know what to say about this place. The chips and salsa was the only reason for two stars. Chips and salsa was good, but thats a cover for the terrible food. We ordered marinated carne asada skirt steak and it was so tough we couldnt eat it. It was NOT marinated in anything but butter. It was not skirt steak at all. It was so rare. I ordered ground beef tacos on corn and it came out on flour and there was NO flavor. I mean no flavor like straight ground beef. It was awful. Husband ordered beer, guess what, it was flat. It just was not meant to be for us. We will not be going back.

Place was dirty when we walked in. Bartender greeted us however needed to find the host in order for us to be seated. It appeared as if they had a rush leave as we were walking in. No pre-bus or anything. Our server greated us with chips and salsa. The lighter color salsa had the most flavor the red was extremely watery with absolutely no taste. I order the Baha fish tacos, husband order the quesadillas. My fish tacos were fried extremely hard, smelled really fishy and had absolutely no flavor to them at all, hell the Tortilla they were laid on didnt even come up to make a full taco (as if they werent made to.proper size). Waited for our server to come but instead had to seek her out.. the manager (I believe she was) came up and asked what was wrong, explained the situation and she took my plate to the back and ate or tried the taco I hadnt bit off of, came back and said that the taco was perfect due to her eating them all the time then said Id need to order something else due to their tacos not being for meand left. I didnt order anything else and husband decided to take his food Togo. No apology or how can I make this better for you ever came out of anyones mouth. This was our first and final time here. Rice and refried black beans also no flavor, there isnt any salt or pepper on table either. Had great hopes for this place but...

I m really surprised at the large amount of positive reviews. We had the guacamole for an appetizer. It tasted like stuff out of a box. Both my teenage boys, who eat anything and everything you put in front of them, had tacos. They didn t finish them. Said they were really tuff. My daughter had the carne asada. She asked me if she was doing something wrong because she couldn t even cut it. It took the steak knife and fork and could cut it either. I told her to take the steak out of her mount because it was so tuff she was going to choke on it. The only saving grace was our waitress, Emma. She was kind and attentive. Not to mention the seats were on hard boards like bleachers. Do yourself a favor an go somewhere else. This place is awful.

The service is good. They use a lot of young people. They are trained well enough to be present but dont hover. Management should keep an eye on this. Fill the water, bye. The food is absolutely scrumptious. Enchiladas to the carne asada. This is something special. When you need something really tasty and different, this is the place. Proportions are large. A value. You get your moneys worth. The drinks are good. On a recent visit our margaritas were excellent, fresh with plenty of tequila. The sun burned some people off the patio. Perhaps a mesh tarp or something could be deployed to block that blazing afternoon Texas sun on the southwest side. . All together I give them a 5. Too bad there is not a 6. Keep up the good work Petra, stay authentic and friendly.

Like most reviews we have drove past this place for roughly a year and decided to get it out of our system. The salsas and charro beans had great flavor. The main course (proteins) chicken and steak had zero seasonings on them no salt or pepper on the tables to help either. Chicken looked boiled and the steak came out all cut into pieces instead of one piece as shown in other photos. This place is full of teenagers and it seems that the cook was one as well, not 100 percent just guessing with the lack of or no seasonings in the dish. Bacon was missing from both main courses and the plates were cold - atleast the beer was cold* Did not take pictures - will for the next negative review as to back my statements.

We ordered Petra from Door Dash for the first time and was disappointed when several items were missing from our order. I called Petra to let them know and one of the managers said they would give us a refund. I called Petra a few days later when the refund did not show up on our credit card. A different manager said they would issue the refund immediately. A few weeks have passed and I never received the refund for the missing items.
