Placed an order on-line for pick up, ordering was easy. Ordered 7 burgers , 1 hot dog, sweet potato fries, french fries, and garlic tots. Order was ready when we arrived as promised. Matt s daughter was very helpful with helping us with drinks. Will definitely be in our meal rotation! We forgot to snap pics before devouring our food! So good!! Dietary restrictions: They offered salmon burger, veggie burger and if you are low carb you can get lettuce wrap!

Itd be nice if the kitchen stayed open till closing time. Tried to get a to-go order with 15min left on the clock and was informed that the kitchen had already closed. Usually pretty good burgers and great onion rings, but overpriced for what it is.

Burgers were nothing special. My burger wasnt even (temperature) hot. Fries were fine. The only good thing was that kids eat free. However, the waiter forgot to apply the discount. Once we reminded him, he comped the price of the kids meal. Music was too loud for my comfort. We werent immediately acknowledged when we walked into the restaurant. However, after that the service was good.

Sub-par customer service during our visit. The restaurant was pretty busy when we walked in and we knew wed have to wait for a table. No issue there. However, when we finally got to an open table it took the staff almost 15 minutes to get it cleaned off from the previous guests. We then waited another 10 minutes at the table and were never greeted by a waiter. We left 40 minutes after walking in the door without having ordered or talked to a waiter. Would not recommend when busy.

I d give 0 stars if I could. My buddy and I went to try and get a burger. It was busy, so there was a wait. We were behind 2 families when we first got there. While we were waiting 3 more families joined the line. After a 30 min wait or so, we finally get a table. All the other families got a a table as well. Why was it everyone else got greeted and drinks ordered, but we were never spoken to. The man I assumed to be the owner walked by us 3 times. Didn t say a word. We waited like 25 min or so and just got up and left. Never had a dining experience quite like this one. We were invisible.

This was our 2nd time there in McKinney. Our first time was amazing 4 months ago. So of course we wanted to go back. This time my order was completely wrong and when he took it back it took long time and everyone else had finished their food at my table. When he brought it out he forgot the fries and said he will have to get them to make them. I said forget it since I didn t want everyone else to wait at the table. Everyone else s fries anyways was soggy and bad. My hamburger was very dry. This time there was not worth it. So I guess whatever they did right the first time they need to go back to it. This time the food was bad and the service.

Visited well after the lunch rush was gone, so that makes any issues more significant to me. Drink order got messed up, then took a really long time to get our food order in. Burgers were undercooked and bland; shouldn t be that hard to miss well done + as requested. I could have done more to dress up a plain, frozen onion ring on my own, very disappointed. Sweet potato fries - if they were ever hot- were cool and mush by time i ate them. Decor is nice, lot of potential for place but trying to hard to find a unique burger and/or relying too much on wagyu to save them.

We really wanted this place to live up to our expectations because we love supporting local restaurants. The pretzel bites were good but the cheese sauce was grainy with a weird texture. Onion rings were spot on. Burgers are very good. Here is where things went sideways in a hurry. I ordered the Lonestar salad with grilled chicken. It looked fresh and I was ready to dive in. One bite and my mouth was on fire. I tried again and couldn t do it. Nothing on the menu made me think this would cause fire breathing dragon heat. So I asked the server and she explained it has GHOST PEPPER cheese. Was this my punishment for ordering a salad at a burger place? They really need to add a disclaimer to the menu. I felt really badly about wasting the food but it wasn t edible. The wait staff was polite and apologetic and gave us a coupon for a future free burger and removes the charge from our ticket. But my dinner was ruined. Not sure about giving them another try.

This place was recommended and was supposed to have good food. Service was lacking. Got there and the place was not busy but to get service was difficult. We had to get another person that worked there to get the waitress to come take our order. At no point did the waitress asked how we wanted our burgers. So well done it was. Not a hard order but apparently it was. After some time the food came. My burger was fine and correct. My friends burger was sooooo off. It looked like a Mcdonalds burger. To add to more injury they forgot to put two slices of cheese on. When told of the mistake instead of taking it back to the kitchen they brought out on a tray two rubbery looking slices of cheese and my friend had to put the cheese on themselves. Overall experience was less than impressive. I dont think we will be going back.

Update - been back 2 times since first visit, and I will say the bar, service and staff are great. The food, specifically burgers, are not much better thanks some good fast food places. Still over done and my regular burger was pretty much a Whataburger. My wife s Rueben was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done, burgers had to be put back together as the fixings/topping were a bit off and I had to put the burger together. The sides are excellent as are some of the appetizers. The burgers are decent but not 12-16 dollars decent. Original Review I going 5 stars for now as this was our first visit. Really good burgers though a bit overdone, full bar, and good tap/ale selections. Not very crowded so we go to enjoy sitting at the bar having dinner and a drink or two. I am sure it is much busier during the weekends (we are residents of downtown) as well as when the Union Bear opens across the street (part of the 33 group that Cadillac and The Yard are part of). As it is self service, you have to order at the bar area so I see that getting a bit much if crowded...

The burgers come with an excellent assortment of options which make for a great burger, however in order to justify the price, the wagyu cant be cooked well done. All four burgers were the same. Update: We shared our experience and were given a free burger coupon. Well give them a second chance.. The music choices were too slow for the atmosphere. We were excited to try the burgers. I ordered the Mckinney Melt with a 3rd patty, mushrooms, and jalapeños. Didnt realize it already came with two patties based on the kiosk. The wife had the Cowboy, didnt realize that the tomato jam is actually tomato & ONION jam. She has an allergy to onions, and it was a hidden ingredient. It should be listed appropriately. I boxed up this burger and took it home for me. We ordered another Cowboy, w/o the jam and the kitchen forgot the bacon. The fried pickles were delicious and crispy, just too greasy. The loaded fries use a cheese sauce, which would have been great with shredded cheese. Overall, not the best of foods for downtown Mckinney.

The ingredients seemed fresh and high quality, the atmosphere is nice, but whatever chef designed the menu screwed them. EVERYTHING that should be savory, tangy, spicy, is just.. sweet. My 14 yr old daughter lifts weights every morning, does boxing every day after school, and then rollerblades most days for relaxation. She eats like a horse (8 TACOS for dinner last night). SHE left half her bacon cheese burger.. My other one took 2 bites of her chicken sandwich, made faces and left it. I ordered the spicy one with grilled jalapeños and it too was sweet. I tried everything on the table and it was all overpoweringly sweet. I like smokey grilled flavor meat, tangy mustard, and crisp dill pickles, the recipes here are the opposite of that. If thats your thing, go for it, but this isnt for me. Id only go back if they scraped the menu and let an adult put those ingredients to good use

The experience I had eating here was great! The service was top notch and the food was very delicious. !!!(Must try the fried pickles)!!! The only recommendation I have is. (Please use coleslaw instead of the shreded lettuce on the Firebird.) The bread was good. The chicken was good. The nashville hot sauce was good. I feel the pickles could have been thiner, but thats just a personal thing (still tasted good). But when you get a nashville hot chicken sandwich, it should come with coleslaw, not lettuce. With all that said. I will still 100% be coming back for more burgers and chicken sandwiches. I love all the other local yocal establishments. Kid-friendliness: They do have a small kids food menu.

The food looks great coming out. However it falls flat quickly. The burgers were clearly reheated. They dont offer you the option to specify how you want your burger cooked so you assume there is a chef cooking to perfection. It has zero flavor, cold and tough. The fries were soggy, onion rings were also good. Tater tots were nice. The salad had no flavor, just a ton of dressing. This wants a tip but as soon as they bring out your food, good luck seeing a waiter coming back to your table.

Great new burger place for downtown! Modern, scratch kitchen, and excellent Wagyu. I used the kiosk, which was pretty simple, and grabbed a number and seated myself. Self service was appreciated as I was on a work lunch break. The local Wagyu beef LOYO burger and onion rings were tasty! Price was affordable. The sauce and house-made pickles were good. Def a messy burger so grab extra napkins! Will be back to try other options soon. Update: went back for the Cowboy burger with the fried egg on it. Tasty! Pro tip: sub the regular bun for the Marble rye, it doesn t get as soggy. ;)

Great quality burgers in a counter service setting. Prices on par with Hat Creek and other counter service burger joints, but with Wagyu quality and downtown McKinney proximity. Also, good Gluten Free bun option. Haters need to go back to McDonalds and stick to your happy meals.

When we walked in the restaurant no one greeted us finally I asked if it was open seating and the young girl behind the bar said yes. We sat down and waiting several minutes and no one came to take our order. There were at least ten workers (most chatting behind the bar) but no one acknowledged us. Then a girl came and told us we have to order at the kiosk. I was very shocked at how expensive the burgers were for the size and quality. Then I bit into my burger at it was extremely pink. I asked my 10 year old daughter to try her burger and it wasn t even pink it was still red. Blood leaked out and even turned the bread pink. Just awful. They gave us a coupon for a free burger the next time that expired last week so they had to fix that as well. The overall burger was just okay and nothing would make me want to come back. If I was going to get a burger on the Square I think I will just stick with Square Burger. Very disappointed that every restaurant that has been in this location since Butcher Board (which was easily the best place on the Square until COVID caused it to close) has been a mess. I do not think we will come back to this place, which makes me sad because we love to support local.

I tried Loyo burger (the Dan burger) with the buy a burger get fries and a drink free coupon. Still not worth it. Frankly, it, sooked donkey dock. Dry, under seasoned patty and some, butch azz fries that tasted bland and they were not even crispy. Total bummer. I would have never guessed it was part of the local yocal franchise. Local yocal carries quality meat but the beef patty tasted like cafeteria mystery meat. The soda which is, small craft tasted like regular azz soda to me. I dont even really like soda but ironically, it was the best part of the meal. Total meal review is a 3/10. My homemade burger and fries, solid 8-9/10. Granted, I can cook like a beast but still, for reference, whataburger would score about a 6/10. The bartender seemed nice, so, I guess I cant complain about service, which is a shame because I love to complain. Should be called LOCO burger because you would have to be crazy to go back. To be fair, I did order take out but I ate it at the park next to the restaurant, so in terms of freshness it was about the same as dine in. Also, the atmosphere was fine but I would rather eat something that tastes good in a back alley with vagrants passed out with needles in their arms than eat glorified garbage in a place with, nice atmosphere. I will add one final point. Most people dont know what good food is around here. If you are someone that doesnt like flavor, this may be the place for you. Personally, I know food. This was garbage. If you really want a place that is better in the area, One and only burger is quite a bit better, albeit not located in the square. I guess there is, Square Burger but if I recall correctly, they, sooked donkey dock too but to a slightly lesser degree. Thank you for your time and I hope I was able to give discerning potential customers some valuable insight.

Were huge fans of Local Yocals butcher shop and restaurant. We love the crew and all theyve done in Mckinney! However, we came away underwhelmed by Loyo Burger. I had the cowboy burger and wife had the spicy burger. The biggest takeaway was the lack of flavor, almost like the patties werent seasoned. The burgers tasted bland and mine broke apart into clumps. I also ordered a jalapeño margarita which tasted like it was sweetened with simple syrup. The onion rings were great but overall it was a miss for us. The ambiance was odd, the bar is nice but the place was very brightly lit. 2 burgers, 1 small onion ring and a margarita for $44. If youre seeking a tasty burger I think there are better options around town.

Its fine. The fries were good. Fresh cut and served fresh out of the fryer. The burger was well done dry, but the cheese was melted and the bun was grilled. (Counter point, the old lady next to me was about to speak to a manger because her meat wasnt charcoal.) I ordered the jalapeno margarita and it was spicy AF. Had 5 jalapeno slices and was about undrinkable. I like spicy, but this was much. Not sure if Ill be back tbh. There wasnt anything special about this place. 4 stars to be nice.

Had a great experience. The food was great. I ve always liked local yocals hamburgers and I love the new additions. I got the cowboy breakfast which was amazing and wife got the loyo burger which she liked too. Huge serving sizes on the fried pickles loaded tots. The kids meals are legit next level the wagyu hot dog should be an adults meal and the fried chicken tenders are so awesome I want to steal from the kids plates. Most of all the service was amazing. Special shout out to the bartender who helped me out throughout the night.

It was just terrible service sitting at the bar at lunch. It wasn t busy and we practically had to wave hands in the air to get any service. The bartender just seems to ignore most people and never offered more service, help, offers of refills, how the food was, any follow-up requests for more food or drinks, or checks. It wasn t isolated to just us but I noticed the trend to others. Again, it wasn t busy, she is just terrible at customer support or interactions. You could literally have an empty glass in front of you and eventually she would notice. However she would just take the empty glass and run away. It was historically bad.

We are big fans of Local Yocal so my family was very excited to try LOYO Burger. When we tried to pay for our food, the pos device kept freezing up. We own a small business so I understand the struggle. The burgers were very good! Maybe the patty was a little overdone but not too bad. The loaded fries though I would give a negative score if I could. The fries were soggy and by loaded they mean a piece or two of Kraft singles cheese and some faux bacon bits. Not what you would expect at this price point. All in all a $50 meal for two adults and two kids (kids split a hot dog) wasn t too shabby.

@LOYOBURGER Food was good, for Fries and burgers - however there are no waiters or servers. You have to order your food on a tablet, which was ok. But this also caused duplicate side and drink orders +$20. Be careful on this. It is not an intuitive app. Then you pay with credit card also on the same tablet. You then get yourself a number and then you wait. We seated our selves when a table came up. Feels like covid days. ugh - We waited about +1 hour for our food it was Sunday around lunch. You also have to get and poor your own drink and condiments. Some employee standing around behind bar. The burgers were good a bit greasy. Food was warm, 2 of the fries orders were soggy. We paid $90 for 4 people! ouch. This is very expensive. The extra condiments were also expensive. I would consider this food to be worth about $40 family or $10 or less - a person. Fries, burgers and sodas. It is better than McDonalds and Chic Fil-A, but not better than a Gordon Ramsey burger, which your price is higher than his. Hoppydoddy is also better. Think just below Twisted root level here.. If youre gonna charge that much, you need servers, more options, free condiments / extras and excellent front of house, not just bussing tables. Also we were double charged for our meal to try and correct the extra side(s) errors above, which has yet to be credited from our card. I hope that happens. Good luck with your business. I hope you can listen to customers and adjust for future amazing service, and better marketable prices. If you can credit me back, we will try again, when the dust settles and I will re-write this review... Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly food servered here..

We came to Loyo on day 1. We are big fans of Local Yocal so we were very excited for this! The service was great, the sides were pretty good but all three of our burgers were really overcooked and dry. When we ordered, the girl that took our order said they had to cook them all well done, but couldn t really tell us why. The burgers were great concepts and unique but the well done meat kind of messed it up for us. Since we came on the first day and there are usually some trial and error things to iron out we will definitely come back and try it again in a couple of months.

I was so excited to try this place that I made a special trip downtown. Being from the Local Yocal Group, I expected quality all around. I fully intended to sit at the bar and hang out. I even looked at the menu ahead of time and knew exactly what I wanted to order! I was so disappointed when I walked in. The girl behind the bar just stared at me and didn t say anything. I ended up saying that I would just sit down and she all but grunted. I decided to get my food to go since it did not seem very inviting. The girls behind the bar had an awkward conversation about her medical problems right in front of me. The inside of this restaurant is really nice, so the fast-food style ordering system was super confusing. I was confused by the plastic number set in front of me. The girl taking the order didn t say much to me at all and looked very disinterested in being at work. The wait wasn t terribly long, but soon enough, a man walked up next to me and set a small white paper bag down. He didn t say anything and I was confused because it certainly did not look like a burger and fries. I opened it up to check to see what was inside. I figured out that this place styled its to-go orders like One and Only Burger with the fries throw at the bottom of the bag and the burger on top. The drink that I ordered did not come out with the food, so I waited for the bartenders to stop having their private conversation to ask where I get the lemonade. They motioned to the side of the restaurant with a self-service drink station. On my short drive home I just hoped the food was worth coming back for, since the service and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Well my burger was a smashed, soggy mess. The fries were floppy. I will say that the flavor was pretty good. All in all I was pretty bummed out that I paid $18 for this mess. I should have gone to get fast food for half the price. The place seems confused is it an upscale sit down burger joint? Where people go to hang out and grab a beer? Or is it a Panera-style grab and go? Or a One-and-Only Burger that prides itself on quick, dirty, and cheap? To the owners I d recommend training your staff to smile and greet customers as they walk in. Give them an experience. Ask if they are carrying out or dining in. If they are waiting for carry-out, ask if they want a beer. The namesake and reputation of Local Yocal is excellence, so maybe go with a brown, fold up to go box that keeps the integrity of the burger in tact. Have the staff standing around say, Have a good night, or Thanks! when customers leave instead of a blank stare. Not trying to be a Karen. Honestly rooting for you.
