I ve been to a few improv comedy nights here. The shows have been hit or miss which is fine - I m not paying a fortune to see Eddie Murphy - I like the local vibe with less well established comedians. The setting is intimate upstairs, the service is good. The food is adequate - I generally go for a flatbread. It s a nice space and I m glad it exists.

Would leave 0 stars if I could. They released our friends tickets to other people when we told them they were for sure coming. We had told them while we were on the phone with our friends that they were 10-15mins away and the guys refused to hold the pre paid tickets. Super unprofessional.

The improv Pavlov Dogs.. were terrific? I laughed harder here than at Comedy Cellar in NYC. Their timing And transitions were fabulous. Already looking forward to next time. Head up! Eat before you arrive as the food is marginal at best.

Loveeee the Comedy Arena classes. I enrolled in Improv level 1 to try something totally new. It was so much fun (thanks to my classmates and teacher Ali) that I enrolled in Level 2 with Jared. He was also such an awesome instructor! The thing that was really neat to see in classes is people take Improv for all kinds of reasons.... to overcome anxiety, to try something new, to keep the brain active, to get back onstage... lots of reasons, and whatever the reason, youll have fun!!

After sitting through a mediocre comedy show (at best) for about an hour and a half, I asked my server for another drink, with the hope of making the show a bit more than just tolerable. After waiting patiently while my server disappeared for a while then came back to let everyone around me know it was last call and disappear again, I finally got up and found her to check on my drink. To which she responded, Im sorry, I heard you dropped a drink and you have had 3 so you are cut off. *Insert jaw drop* I dropped my first drink that I took ONE sip of when I tripped. I immediately notified staff, and we had an entire conversation about how sad it is when you spill a drink, much less your first one. I then had 2 drinks and more than half a flatbread, in an hour and a half. I should mention, the waitress that decided to cut me off was not the person that served me said dropped drink, nor had I seen her at all earlier in the night. Im not sure when exactly the switch happened but it was definitely after the show started. I am absolutely baffled from this experience in its entirety. It truly saddens me that a place that could be so cool is so lame and treats its patrons in this way. Note to incompetent waitress, that probably showed up late to work in the first place, do not make someone come find you to tell them you have cut them off be an adult and have a conversation.

This is a stand out comedy theater. Not only do they have there own brilliant improv comedy shows they pull in great acts from stand-up to sketch! Youre getting a wonderful variety of acts throughout the year. The owners of this fine venue runs a tight ship. Its a well-oiled machine. The theatre is very clean. Super friendly staff. Food and drinks are available! Love this place. Highly recommended for a great all around experience.

The Comedy Arena is an absolute gem and should be a destination everyone considers for a weekend outing. Ive now been 4 times and no disappointments. The place is small (aka intimate), but thats more a challenge for the excellent staff to serve us (they do it quite well). The recent visit was to see Carmen Morales. Two words: Funny and Loud. Carmen had us all laughing (and I mean unabashed laughing out loud) for more than an hour. We are making plans for our next visit and have already purchased tickets to see John Hastings in January.

Big fan of this place. Aspiring comedians and seasoned pros can attend an open mic on Mondays (I ve done it, and it s a very fun and supportive environment). If interested, you can also take a variety of classes. Been to multiple shows here intimate space makes for a great atmosphere. They get big name acts and also offer shows that highlight up and coming comedians see them before they re famous kind of vibe. Fun to see new faces, but also great exposure for aspiring comics to get noticed. Like every comedy club I ve ever been to, you will need to order 2 items during a show, but prices are fair and staff is polite and helpful. Love its location too, right in historic downtown McKinney. Definitely recommend this gem.

Went on cinco de Mayo night. Super cute place and cool experience. 3 out of the 5 comedians were funny. I know they re just starting and it takes a lot to get up there so not knocking the ones that weren t as funny. Ordered cookie ice cream thing which was great. The place is a good venue, but there are 3 things I dont like about the place. 1. I didnt like having to put my credit card on file prior to being seated. 2. I dont like the fact that there is a two item minimum required menu purchase. I go to see a comedian, not to order food and drinks. 3. Lastly if Im going to pay nearly 5 bucks for a soda, at least have free refills and serve it in a glass over ice. Can drinks is low class and they werent even cold. Two stars it is, just because of that, otherwise I would have given 5.

Great participatory improv. Fun for the whole family. In fact, dont limit yourself to the shows (which are great, btw). Go out and take a class! The class is a great opportunity to stretch yourself, meet and get to know new people, and really grow while having a TON of fun! Von is also a great teacher who really loves what he does. I finished Level 1 class, and immediately wanted to begin L2. There are multiple levels of improv classes, stand up comedy classes, sketch classes, and more.

Attended the March 12th Family friendly show with our 6 yr old granddaughter. Had a great time. I would have liked to see less card tricks. They were great, just would have liked to see more of a variety of magic tricks. I will also suggest that due to the time constraint, perhaps serve much quicker dishes to cook. We went on a Friday night for the improv battle. The show and the performers were great and they deserve 5 stars. However the food quality, quantity, and pricing left much to be desired. In order to attend the show, you buy a table which for two of us was $40. Then you also had to eat buy two food or drink items. I knew that going into it although I thought it was a bit steep to have that kind of a minimum on top of paying that much for the table for a one hour show. But we were willing to do it because we wanted to see the show. I got a soda for $3 (not bad) and 6 wings for about $10. When the wings arrived, four of them were the normal size but two of them were the worlds smallest wings about pinky sized. The sauce flavor was good but the amount of blue cheese dressing they gave me on the side was good for about one wing. I asked them for another one as well and he brought it out. Once again, it was probably about the equivalent of one tablespoon or maybe two if I was lucky. Little did I know, that I would be charged $1.50 for this tablespoon of blue cheese when the bill came. My wife got a hamburger which was super dry and did not come with any condiments on the side or on it. It was difficult to get the attention of our server because the show is going on so she just suffered through the dry burger. She also got some sort of spinach artichoke dip which was about as flavorless as Ive had. So a great show but the food service was just terrible. Unfortunately, this hit the trifecta of overpriced, bad quality, and bad quantity. Turn the quality of the food around and fix the pricing a bit and we would love to come back. The show would be worth it.

The entertainment is very funny, the staff are warm and accommodating, and their new menu offerings are going to be great. Reasonably priced and a good value. The Comedy Arena is an overall fantastic evening out.

Fun night during COVID for the Rooftop Comedy event! It was great to get out and have a few laughs and taking the show to the rooftop of the building was genius! Bonus of getting free admission the the Arcade after the show!

I booked a group virtual improv workshop for my Toastmasters club and a virtual Game Night for my office. Ive also watched one of their virtual Improv comedy nights. You will have so much fun!!! The Comedy Arena hosted a Family Game Night (via Zoom) for our geographically diverse group of friends and family tonight and it was fantastic! Great way to celebrate my wifes birthday. Highly recommended. Also, Im looking forward to seeing them live at their McKinney, TX location once shows can start back up again. I did attend a show there in 2019 that was hilarious and cant wait to go back.

I went there on Saturday, 1/18/2020, for the Comedy Sportz show. My girlfriend (it was her birthday) and I had a blast. The troupe was great, clever and hilarious. I highly recommend an evening here. Well be going back soon.

Love this comedy club! The early show is clean comedy and family friendly. They also offer comedy classes if you want to learn how to do comedy. And there s a free class on the third Thursday evening of every month if you want to just dip your feet into it before signing up for a class. Great staff!!

Just finished the Level 1 class and did the showcase. This was a lot of fun. Learned a lot and met some great people. As adults, we forget how important it is to be playful. Come see a show, theyre fantastic. Or better yet, take a class and tap into your playful self again. Laughter truly is the best medicine!

Im writing in the perspective of a student because thats what I was looking for when I researched The Comedy Arena and found only ratings of the comedy shows. Future students, youre in for a quality class. Von Daniel, the instructor, has been at it for longer than many of you have been alive and he knows what hes doing. Its a safe, fun, and supportive learning atmosphere for any of you who are on the fence because of nerves. I came here not knowing what to expect and Im very much out of my comfort zone. (But thats what I wanted!) I found myself looking forward to class and Ive signed up for the next level with plans to enroll in everything he offers.

I went to the Comdemy sports Arena for the first time about 3 weeks ago ! I was able to purchase my ticket online for the 8 pm showing that night ! I wasnt sure what to expect and the minute I walked in the front door I was greeted by a very friendly polite staff! The performance started right on schdule at 8 pm...This was my very first time going to a improv comedy show ! I will tell you this I didnt stop laughing pretty much the whole entire duration of the show ! The cool thing was the first show is very family oriented and the second show is geared more towards adults! Not only was the performance excellent but it was ran very professionally ! I actually had a chance to speak to the owner Von Daniel and he was a very poised,friendly individual..I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING THIS PLACE OUT !

Probably the hardest I ve ever laughed! Seriously. The Improv was spot-on and original (and, dare I say, better than SNL at many points during the show?) Best of all, the show was interactive and engaging a great date night or guys night out or girls night out ...pretty much for everyone desiring a fantastic night out! I had so much MORE FUN than ANY movie I ve seen recently. Do yourself a favor and give this comedy gem in McKinney a try!
