Food was great and our server was very kind at Local Yocal. However, the atmosphere at the Augustus was unpleasant and unwelcoming. Would recommend the staff behind the bar be friendlier and work on being more inviting to new guests.

I was so excited to come here but the food was super salty when I got it. I was just going to get some extra sauce, but the manager came over and sincerely apologized and then offered to make two new fresh entrees right away and he was so nice and genuine. It was so much better the second time around and I cant wait to go back. This is our second time eating here. We had the smoked onion dip with chips, the hydromaine Caesar, the smoked chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, The Hamilton sandwich, kids mac and cheese, and a kids burger. The service was quick and the food was really good! We loved the smoked taste with the onion dip and chicken fried steak, and the wagyu beef on the Hamilton was awesome.

Great restaurants that are consistently great every time you go and with various menu choices AND staff are not easy to find. We have been consistently impressed with Local Yocal, every single time. From the friendly greeting at the front door, wait staff, management, and bus staff; watching the staff interact with each other you can tell they enjoy working there. The food is PHENOMENAL!! As good as any food I ve had at any top rated restaurant in DFW. Appetizers, steaks, brisket is to die for, salads, sides, desserts, it s all fantastic! Hands down my fave in north DFW for a nice dining experience & food that will keep you coming back for more!

2nd visit here, and its even better than the first. Perfect spot for a spontaneous date with the wife. We dont eat much, so we almost always share anything we order. The portions were just right for us. The waitress was really awesome. She came across genuinely friendly and seemed enthusiastic about the menu items we had asked about. At some point during our meal, the owner came over for a quick chat, which is always a huge plus.

So this is a restaurant that has a sister Farm to Market Butcher Shop in Downtown Mckinney. You have a very premium health conscious and way of raising their cattle that I particularly appreciate and their butcher cut class - Meat 101 - thats held in their Event Center adjacent to the restaurant plus the restaurant or both delightful. Vegetarian options: Local Yocal is a ranch that is vertically integrated with their restaurant and butcher shop. Their focus is on healthy grass-fed and finished premium beef not vegetarian options. Parking: So there is mildly limited parking thats free for the restaurant and then there are multiple paid Lots adjacent to that location as well Kid-friendliness: If your kids will eat hamburgers then they will eat these. Wheelchair accessibility: I believe that theres ramp access to the main entrance.

We attended with a small group of people, for our first time. Some had brunch, and others had lunch, but all seemed very happy. The service was fantastic, and I loved the food. The atmosphere was great and the staff were really friendly. I am limited by dairy and soy so my food options were limited to mostly BBQ. BBQ was okay, but not worth the price. Especially when Hutchins is in close vicinity. Baked beans were very watery but the flavor was good. My husband loved the brisket Mac and cheese though! I would try again when my dietary restrictions aren t so challenging. But overall was just an okay dining experience.

My husband and I dined in for our anniversary and were very please with the quality and portion size of the food and the friendliness of the staff was beyond compare. The atmosphere was a casual with a modern industrial look. The bar had many options to choose from and the hostess gave us a hand written anniversary card that she made as we were wrapping up the meal as a bonus! From the moment we walked in there was nobody at the front door. We arrived 30 minutes to close, stood around, waiting for someone to assist us, ended up having to walk into the dining room to get somebody s attention. Then the manager finally came out and stated she needed to ask the kitchen if they were still open. There was at least 5 to 6 guests at the bar and at least two tables seated with 2 to 3 people each. We were turned away, saying the kitchen was closed. Customer service starts the moment the guest steps into the front door.

Went with family for my 70th, we had a party of 11. Everything was excellent, they even had a birthday card on the table for me. I had the strip, cooked Pittsburgh rare and it came out perfect. Son had the smoked chicken fried steak and I might have to get that next time. The drinks were great, the sides were great, same for the appetizers. Service was on-point, not pushy, just effective. Our first time there, definitely not our last. Dietary restrictions: The wife is gluten free and had no issues finding something great to eat. She brought home a big box of leftovers. I love going to the music venue for the Tuesday night Song Dog concerts . The music is top notch and the venue is great. My issue is that iif you want to sit on the 1st 3 rows you have to buy a dinner ticket and you are not given any food options. I m not a fan of what they normally offer but because I want good seat I have no choice but to buy the food option. Up until last month they let me get a hamburger but now they ended that option. GIVE US FOOD OPTIONS!

Service was adequate, food started great but just rolled down the hill from there. Just take yourself to an actual steak house, probably spend the exact same about or slightly more but will be worth it. For the price there is much better options in a 15 mil radius. Appetizers were good, drinks on point. However the most important meal being the entrées, this is here improvement is greatly needed. For the price you can get much better steak, and there are even some better options for less.

Bought the family size plate which included ribs , brisket and two sides and we paid the up charge to add turkey to the platter- the plate was soooo small 4 ribs with barley any meat on them and a small portion of brisket and like 4 slices of turkey , I paid 40$+ for this stupid plate and I left still hungry - & don t even get me started on that microscopic pina colada drink that was just a giant ice cube and barley any alcohol atmosphere was pretty though but really over priced for what you re paying for and the amount of food u receive

My family took me to your restaurant tonight to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful experience for everyone. We have (or I should say had) eaten here on many occasions. The last time my wife and I went in we were up charged $1 for an ice cube...Yes, an ice cube. I ordered a whiskey drink with the block cube ice and was not told they charge a $1 for the ice. Note: I eat out frequently and this has NEVER happened at any other restaurant in the DFW metro or nationally. Clearly this has nothing to do with the amount, it more has to do with the fact that a restaurant being locally owned would put something like this on their customers and would warn them prior to doing it. If you need to increase the prices that much just add it to your drinks like all other reputable businesses do. Needles to say we are no longer customers of this restaurant. There are way too many places in McKinney and the area to dine to get hidden fees put on by one of them!

Great food and service just off Downtown McKinney. We especially enjoy their holiday brunches with fresh made pancakes, lox and cream cheese, fruit, a margarita bar and their justly famous smoked brisket and turkey. The server are always helpful. It s also a great place for an excellent cocktail, lunch or dinner. Parking: City of McKinney new lot has eased the parking problems. When the road construction is done it will be even easier.

We LOVE Local Yocal. We have been there several times and always have great food and a great experience. However, our last visit was extra special. We went to enjoy a nice dinner after the Byron Nelson golf tournament and were hot, tired, and hungry. My husband ordered the grilled pork chop with fried rice. It was outstanding! The rice was so delicious that I kept eating it off of his plate. The manager came over to chat with us for a bit and then brought us a to-go order of the rice! The staff is always helpful and the food is always delicious.

Stand alone restaurant with limited parking in front but they have another lot across the street to the north. Staff was very nice and helpful. They specialize in naturally grown grass fed wagyu beef. The wagyu beef bacon macaroni and cheese was very good as was the smoked red pepper pimento cheese. The brisket was a little dry. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was very good. Recommend. Parking: Limited in front but there is a big parking lot across the street to the north.

We were looking forward to eating here. However although the food may (Ill never know) be delicious, customer service is also very important. We parked in a nearby lot and went in, so far so good, but we needed to pay for our parking space and needed our license plate no. So my husband went out back to the parking lot to get it. Instead he moved our pickup and trailer to the restaurants parking lot. When he explained this, back inside, the man at the register counter looked out and said we couldnt park our trailer there and we would have to move again. His reason is because we couldnt block all those parking places. At this point we decided not to even eat there. Let me just add, I counted empty parking spots as we were leaving and, seriously, I stopped counting at 30.

Sorry to say this, my family was not pleased with the mothers day brunch. There was minimal selection of food. Plus what was offered was cafeteria + offering. Not saying food was bad, just not presented well with what was beenserved. Roast beef was to raw and turkey was so dry you needed to order more water before eating it. The sides where good. It just was displayed like my own game day snack tray for me and my friends. Nothing special just food placed on a tray. Sorry again to say this has been twice for me and not sure i will be back. Seen Matt on Sunday morning news competing for best burger in Texas. His demeanour had me check out his joint. I was told he was cut from the ranch hand mold like us. I didn t get to meet him, but his crew showed their admiration for him telling me stories. Maybe next time we can meet. Definitely a genuine and authentic feel here. Came here for date night with my wife. When we got there it was a little busy, but they sat us with no wait. Blair was our server and she did a fantastic job taking care of us (even while juggling a couple larger tables at the same time). We started with the smoked onion dip, then I got the Hamilton burger and my wife got the chicken fried steak. We split an order of the brisket mac and cheese. All three were delicious, and we had a good amount to bring home too. For the two of us, it was about $100 plus tip. We had a great time and will definitely come back and ask for Blair.

Oh my! This is a YES all the way! The food was phenomenal! Not a bad bite to be found. The BBQ sampler and fried green tomatoes were a fantastic start to our meal. The sampler has a bit of everything. They make their own pickles, and they are dynamite. Slightly spicy as they are served with jalapeños and onions, but very very good. They do not disappoint. We had he smoked chicken fried steak, gulf shrimp and grits, and Hamilton burger as our entrees. The chicken fried steak is served with green beans and mashed potatoes and is the size of your head. It was huge! The most tender chicken fried steak Ive ever tasted. Im not sure I loved that it was smoked, but it was certainly unique. It wouldnt stop me from having it again. The shrimp and grits were heavenly. The presentation was beautiful, but slightly difficult to eat. The tails were left on the shrimp and covered in sauce. This made it messy to eat them, but eat them we did. They were delicious, as were the grits. Very flavorful, creamy and soft, but not lacking in texture. They were perfect. The Hamilton burger was special! Beef, bacon, and brisket came piled on a beautiful bun. Served with fries which were golden and crisp. They were absolutely perfect! Others at our table ordered mac n cheese. Some with brisket and some without. Everyone said it was good. The salmon dish got rave reviews as well. The atmosphere is laid back, the menu is a step above. There was no kids menu. This would be fantastic for a first date, birthday, anniversary, or special celebration. They have a full menu of local beers and amazing cocktails as well. We will definitely visit again! Superb! Vegetarian options: This is a BBQ establishment. Vegetarian is not their focus. That said, fried green tomatoes are an appetizer option. Sides include mashed potatoes, green beans, French fries....Mac n cheese is an entrée and salads are available.

Local typical is about the only thing humble here. This place was terrific. The service was very attentive, the selection was very good and diverse and the good was terrific. The smoke chicken fry was hands down one of the best with the firm buttery mashed potatoes. The Hamilton Burger was an absolute hit! I cannot wait to come back for dessert! Bring your appetite!

We really have loved this place and as a family we were excited to dine there this last Saturday evening. My husband made a reservation and we were seated on time. My husband ordered the pork chop, I ordered the market fish with risotto and our son a burger. We said to to waitress to bring our appetizer bbq sampler before and instead we got everything at the same time, they were so busy they apologized they messed up in that but then the biggest dissatisfaction is to spend 125.00 of our hard earned money on underwhelming food, my fish dish just blah was so forgettable no flavor and my husband said his dish was nothing special. We feel waitress really was not to blame for our bad experience. The best dishes were our kids burger and the appetizer. We are so bummed! We understand it s hard to run a restaurant and as they grow this can happen but not motivated to go back for an underwhelming experience.

Visited on a Friday evening for dinner. We chose to sit on the patio, which is lovely, but the city is working on the road so the view leaves a lot to be desired. Not necessarily the restaurants fault but just a forewarning mid-2024. Food and service were fantastic. Spencer was attentive, friendly, and recommended the other Local Yocal venues in town which were likely to check out based on our experience. Definitely coming back soon to try a few other dishes on the menu that looked appetizing.

This place is the epitome of a hometown gem! We frequently visit here and its always our top pick when showing out-of-towners a taste of local flavor. I ve been here twice and neither time disappointed. Pros - The salmon dip was really good as well as the BBQ sampler platter. The Mac and cheese is nice and creamy. The chicken fried steak and steak is yummy. The first time I went, the service was impeccable. So much so I bragged about it before I took my dad the 2nd time. Cons - The baked half chicken was not good to me. Hardly any flavor. The 2nd time I went (3/16/24), the service was mediocre. I recommend this place if you are wanting to splurge and treat yourself! Kid-friendliness: It s a higher end restaurant but if you have well behaved kids it s welcoming. They had a coloring sheet for my daughter.

First time to the restaurant. Food was great. Service was awful. No one checked on us after they delivered our drinks and food. I had to get my husband a refill on his water. no one seemed to check to see why I was getting my own refills. The table next to us got refills and didn t bother to see if we needed refills or even get our waiter. Even though we are sitting there with nothing in our glasses. The right thing would be to acknowledge us. Food was good. But too pricey for the awful service we had.

We walked in on a Saturday afternoon (it was not busy btw) and we were told by the hostess I guess I can get you a table-you have about an hour to eat and leave . A huge disappointment! This is the only restaurant Ive ever come across with BBQ in the name that has exactly one appetizer on the menu with BBQ in it at dinner time. The lunch menu has BBQ. Otherwise forget it. The steaks on the dinner menu must be good to justify the prices since when we showed up without reservations on a Friday night they told us it would be a 80 to 100 minute wait (a big surprise for a BBQ restaurant). The bar seating was first come, so we went there. Only then realized BBQ at dinner time was not offered. The city streets are torn up all around it with the restaurant parking lot 100% valet. Its difficult to determine if this is the typical Collin County surge in popularity for new places or good food. Oh, and very, very loud. We had to raise our voices to talk the petson immediately at our side. Impossible to talk to someone more than two chairs away. We left to go to an actual BBQ restaurant. Who knows, this may be a viable place if you want an expensive steak? Parking: The city streets are torn up and closed all around it. You have to go past it a block away and drive behind other businesses through their muddy gravel parking lots to get to Local Yocals. This includes driving over curbs though they have added some gravel against the curbs to help you get over them. We had a SUV and a full size truck so it wasnt a big problem as long as you didnt give up.

I said I would never go back after our experience in January 2020. Service was poor and the Wagyu steak was like shoe leather and way overcooked. But decided to give them a second chance after friends kept saying how good it was. Last night we went back. The service was better this time. It was hard to hold a conversation due to a loud table seated next to us this was not the fault of the establishment. I ordered the Angus 10 oz. Sirloin, this time it was not over cooked and was quite tasty. However the steak was very tough definitely not prime beef, probably grass fed beef. Not worth the price. In all fairness my wife had the Shrimp and Grits which she said was very good, my son had the Pork Chop, and my daughter-in-law had the 8 oz. Angus Sirloin which she said was both tender and tasty. Maybe my experience with the steaks at Local Yocal is just timing but I will not recommend them or go back.
