My favorite restaurant in the rgv, I have been to almost every vegan restaurant in the valley, and this is the best, no contest. The food comes out fast, its delicious AND beautiful. Ive been vegan for around 8 years and this impresses me big time I hope you guys stay in business for a long time, you guys are amazing! Vegetarian options: Fully vegan/plant based menu! Dietary restrictions: no dairy/egg!

First time dining was a good experience. One less star, due to the coffee/expresso shot tasting like water. The coffee is from HEB (cheap quality) as I am a fine coffee sipper! Other than that, service is smooth, taste of food is good, we are back today for another experience. Update: Falafel Bowl & Mushroom Taco were delicious!!! Yum and yum! Thank you all for your kind and prompt service.

I came here for dinner. I was literally the only one here. Service was ok not very friendly but did their job. Front girls is always in the back like shutting your kitchen door really muffles anything. I came here because of the variety of a menu they offered for vegans. I am from out of town here for business and like to support vegan restaurants because I m vegan and need options when traveling. I get seated and told this is all we have a 5 item menu that says Thursday menu uh where is the menu on your website you re promoting all these options and can t provide them? Be more accurate. I looked at door dash while sitting there and I could order anything but wasn t able to order everything at the restaurant? Wtf is that? If you change your menu daily you need to change your website daily. Probably won t be back because I don t know what I m going to get for food and options really weren t great. I could have bought that from Walmart and made it in my hotel room in the microwave. For $14 you could given people at least some more fries an entire bag of fries is like $3. I wanted a vegan bowl full of variety and nutrients or something since I hadn t eaten all day plus the night before and there is a promise that can t be supported. I don t care if your menu changes daily but tell people your menu changes daily and what you are serving because I would have gone somewhere else. I was very excited to eat here since I have never been to this city but you killed it.

My friends and I went for brunch. It was my first time and I was absolutely in love! I have been wanting to go and it was so worth it. The food options were great and they have a little bit everything. I had the butterfly latte and the rice bowl with their version of chicken. The food portions are amazing. Definitely able to have leftovers or share. The staff was so kind and the atmosphere is very cozy. I will definitely be driving back to my hometown to go again. If you are not in McAllen it s so worth the drive.

Just wow. Was leaving downtown and searched vegan and thank GOD this popped up. Diverse, full menu (with breakfast offered all day), helpful waitress who recommended the Plato Surtido, and it was excellent! Very filling, perfect portion size. Very reasonably priced. When in MCallen, you must stop at María Cruz! What a great place, for breakfast, brunch or lunch. They also have great coffee and natural energy drinks options. The food tastes great, very fresh, good portions, and the presentation is well done. Service is great and the atmosphere is chilled. Amazing food. Always looking for vegan spots in the valley when we are visiting family (from Houston where vegan restaurants are plentiful) Though few, Maria Cruze Cuisine really packs a punch in representing the plant based community in the valley. Highly recommend stopping by as I know I definitely will in the future Dietary restrictions: 100% plant-based (vegan) menu, with optional whole food only menu for those following a whole food/unprocessed diet.

When out of town, I try to find a vegan spot for dinner. This place I was willing to try, although it took about an hour to get there from where I was staying, it was definitely worth it. The food was delicious! I ordered three dinners because I was going to be in the area three days. Yes, they held up great in the fridge in my room. The staff member was kind, helpful, and gave me water with cucumber while I waited. I was starving because vegan spots arent everywhere in that area. Besides, the food wasnt greasy, and it was healthy with nice sized portions. I will definitely return.

I ve had inconsistent experiences with this restaurant. Dining in early offers good food, but carry-out orders are a different story Portions are often reduced, and items like beans, salsas, and utensils are often missing. The avocados are usually brown, and the dinner menu is unpredictable. Yes, I understand it can be busy, but its no excuse for compromising on portion sizes. If items are sold out, it would be better to communicate that to customers instead of making a sale. Substitutions without warning is unacceptable. Dinner has been disappointing to say the least. Many changes to the dishes, sides, and presentation every single time I ve dined in or ordered carry out. Edit: Ive noticed that another review identical to mine has been posted. I want to clarify that MY review is based solely on MY personal experience and feedback. Im unsure why a duplicate review has been added... strange. Be original. For starters, This place has amazing food but the high school girls that wait on customers is not attentive and gathers behind the bar to laugh and talk instead of really servicing customers. I waited nearly an hour for 4 tacos. Keep in mind, you have to pay for parking on the meter. I have exceeded that! When these kids aren t here serving the service is good. Order your food for TAKE AWAY! Lesson Learned! UPDATE: This place was a great place to visit. I won t be going back at all! Here s the run down: I left a not so positive review (above) for this place because I waited over an hour plus for my food. You have to pay for parking and I went over the time. As a paying customer and because it is my right to give my feedback, especially if I am paying my hard earned money. Anywho, I visited them again because the food is really good. I am vegan and this small town doesn t have many options. So this is pretty much your options. Any rate, I sit down and the waitress was giving me an unprofessional attitude while serving me. I knew something up. They had saw, My Review. I m checking out and the waitress that served me with the attitude started going off on me for giving my honest feedback for google.. I mean she went off! She was being very unprofessional and telling me don t ever comeback! I didn t deserve any of that! TIMES ARE TOUGH! I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to Maria Cruz. It was evident to me that the place was special. The food was excellent, service was prompt and the ambiance transported me to Austin or San Antonio. I will go back again and I will recommend it to others. The food is great. The coffee is amazing as well. The only reason it s a low review is because I feel like the young girls in the front at times are lazy. The food comes out late and on Sundays this restaurant closes at 4pm and I walked in at 3:40pm And The girls in the front said they were closed yet the door was open. The open sign was on and the decals and the door said it closes until 4 PM., I personally think they were just being lazy and didn t want to take another client at 3:40 PM But other than that the food is great So long as you re ready to put up with immature little girls in the front and possibly for the food to come out late.

One of the best vegan places Ive ever been to with great portion sizes! Just had a surgery which requires a diet change I had the taco trio which has picadillo, bistec and al pastor. The flavors really tasted like I was eating the real thing. Picadillo was my favorite one! My husband had the burrito and also said it was delicious. He eats a lot and was pleasantly full (: We are so excited to come back and try more food! I called my order in at 1:35p and was told that my order would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived to pick up my order at 3:00p and from the looks of it looked like my order hadnt even been started. I asked the host how long I would need to wait for my order, and she said 10 minutes. Being on a time crunch, I agreed. It was now 3:25p and my order wasnt ready. I was very disappointed I had to ask for a refund and left without any food. 50 minutes, and my order was not even close to being ready. I should have read the reviews before placing an order. We are just visiting this area. We did a search for vegan food and lucked out to find this place!! We went for dinner It was so good we came back the very next morning for breakfast! Ive been here twice. Id go more often if I lived in McAllen. I love how delicious the food is and the service is solid. I believe I had the chilaquiles both times. My husband got the aqua fresca melon during our most recent visit and he was impressed that it had real melon in it. Hes from Mexico City and can be kind of particular about these things. We need to schedule more McAllen visits during their business hours (we tend to come out late, which is when theyre closed).

Of all the vegan places I ve gone to, this may actually be my favorite. I came with a bunch of non-believing meat eaters and not one person had food left on their plate by the end. They even ordered food to take home! Delicious Mexican food combined with beautiful presentation and it being in TEXAS of all places makes this place a real hidden gem. Please come here! Here s what we recommend: The chilaquiles are unreal. So are the sopas. So f n delicious I can t stand it. The flavor is so complex and traditional but also has a nice spin on it. A vegan spin! So highly recommend! On the sweet side, the French toast and waffles were so delicious. I m not much of a sweet breakfast lover but this could convert me! Smothered in gorgeous syrup with fruits - to die for. I myself got the breakfast torta. It wasn t what I was expecting and I wouldn t get it again as I didn t love the bread. But that s just me! The tarter tots are bang on! I would recommend ALL of their drinks: the macha is delicious, the agua frescas are gorgeous and I wanted to drink everyone s myself LOL. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The music is nice and not overwhelming. The food, outside of being super healthy, is really good. The pricing is very reasonable too. Their juice bar is now folded into one menu, now. It will easily become your favorite place for lunch, or even healthy food in general. I ve been seated waiting for my order to be ready. Two tables were served and completed. Worst experience ever !!!! It was mother day and the restaurant wasn t full at all! Actually it was half empty may that s why ? The staff also was totally careless and disrespectful. Really bad experience. I came from California excited because I got great comments about this place. No coming back !

Absolutely delicious food, and Im not even remotely close to being vegan! I love how everything here is scratch made and plant based, and every single thing on the menu is delicious. In fact, the chilaquiles on the brunch menu is better than any other chilaquiles Ive ever had. There tends to be a wait time for brunch during the weekends, so come early - especially on Sundays !

Terrible customer service. The server looked like he was annoyed every time he had to come talk to us. It was very stuffy in the restaurant as well. The food was very tasty but expensive. If you order the taco plates, thats exactly what you get - 3 tacos. No beans or rice. We dont plan to go back again.

100% recommended, it is my new favorite place, the atmosphere, the music, the light, the design, the food, the friendly staff, the super delicious food, I really needed a place different from the rest. I tried a little of everything, the waffles, chilaquiles, a burrito, my Americano coffee, a little of everything and I give everything a 10. very different from the restaurants in the Valley, give yourself the opportunity to get to know it. There are few places that I give 5 stars to everything but this one deserves it.

Best vegan restaurant in the Valley that Ive been to in my time here in the past 4 years. Prices are actually reasonable given the work that they put into the food. I believe they make their meat and tortillas in-house. Delicious dishes to choose from on both the brunch and dinner menus. Atmosphere is modern and cozy with nice plants. Finally a place that recreates the vibes of Mexico Citys vegan scene. Highly recommend and will come back.

Great deco. Very friendly service. Matcha latte delicious. Had the taco trio, burrito, and hummus/guac platter. Some constructive criticism-Hummus guac presentation was beautiful except for the corn chips. It looks so beautiful and these corn chips steal the show as they look like store-bought nacho chips. Maybe dehydrated corn chips does the trick. Hummus was delicious! Salsa was great. The burrito was very good, it is ENORMOUS, so you can probably feed 2 for sure. The taco trio is very well decorated, meaning options are extensive-cilantro,fresh onion, grilled onion, salsa, etc. service was a tad slow, but it was addressed and recognized by the waiter that explained chef had a small emergency. It happens. Cannot wait to try new dishes!

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant and we both agreed its the perfect place to spend a chill Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed a delicious juice, though we had a hard time choosing from the wide variety of yummy drinks. The service was amazing, our waitress, Audrey, was very friendly and made sure we had a great experience from checking up on us frequently to offering great suggestions on what to order. The restaurant itself has such a relaxing environment thats hard to find anywhere in the craziness of the valley. Overall, the experience was awesome, I would definitely recommend!!

Its not the place you see in the photos Its dirty The girl who served me had no idea that she was carrying the juice and she grabbed her cell phone to see the ingredients and touched the vegetables without wearing gloves or even washing her hands, and the vegetables already looked bad. The juice machine was super dirty. I asked if I could wash it but I didnt speak Spanish and a young man came and kindly helped me, I used gloves, I washed the vegetables, rinsed the minimum extractor with water and prepared my juices. But honestly, personally, I do not recommend this place ..

Liked the food . Yes it s pricey . I believe the owner / manager is very nice , very friendly . Jessica the waitress was extremely disappointing . Seemed very bothered by my frds . Told them off several times , I need one person to speak at a time you all need to wait , we are very busy we don t have dessert ( they had a Oreo cake ) These were some of the comments . No smile intact irritated face and expressions . We were a group of 10 I can understand that it can get overwhelming but I am not paying close to $200 to hear this . Very disappointed! I took my vegan frds there as I liked the food but none of them want to go back as they felt insulted .
