if i could give this 0 stars i would. no one answers the phone, tried multiple depts and no answer. trying to call and get ahold and a manager because i caught a man taking pictures of license plates including mine. could be a trafficking scam who knows. tried to call and warn but no answer. oh well.

Well I always shopped here! Not after today. Waited 45 minutes for someone to help at the treadmills and no one ever showed up. Asked for help twice and was told there was no one in that department at the moment! Well couldn t they at least send a manager to help! All I needed to know if a product was in stock to purchase it. And how in the world can no one go for aid! Horrible customer service horrible people that I asked for help! My money is as good as anyone else s money in this store it s just horrible!!! Will never return!

Some employees on the floor but very few on the front registers. It seems like at this Academy off highway 2 and Ware rd in McAllen has this problem. The gun sales department with no customers, only allow gun sales and will not open to all merchandise sales. No RV products sold here. Pack a lunch to come here.

Horrible service, a cashier named Valeri Today I went to the store to return some tennis shoes, when I left the checkout I heard him ablava me and me ablava I was on my back I wanted you to be wearing a Yeti you were wearing a yeti, to which I turned and said very ugly tone of you Youre going to take it, I dont even know what ablava is, I reply Quee, in the cart there was a Yeti drink wrapper (without a glass) I hadnt even entered the store, I just went to return. I felt so bad that he did that in front of people and even more because of his tone when he spoke so ugly to me. Such a ruder cashier would have been different if she had asked in a good manner what was in the cart. But she believes that the store is hers when she is replaceable for the store she is just another employee. I wouldnt buy hai again with that kind of deal

The hard line Mgr on on duty was very rude and condescending, should really step back to evaluate his leadership, doesnt know how to listen and overstep boundaries. Sure this will fall though the cracks like most reviews do however the lead at the front was very helpful, good thing this type of leadership does not rub off on good employees. It s unbelievable the check out lines are horrible & these youngsters (cashiers) all playing around chit chatting among them selves. Not helping they tend to avoid customers. Only one lady cashier a bit elderly that was moving the lines all the rest were in Lala land. Bad management trickles down . No manager to be found in the front end of the store where there very much needed.

I called to ask a question before I headed to the store to see if they had what i was looking for available. I called 3 times and no one ever answered, after 5 minutes of ringing, the line hangs up. I attributed this to poor management and horrible customer service. For such a large company it leaves a lot to be desired on how the management handles customers. For a business that deals with customer service, it falls beyond short!

The academy store 3901 W Expy 83, McAllen, TX 78503 This incident happened on June 24 ,2024, around 11 AM Firearm section I went to my local academy to see the firearm section . I went , was window shopping, and I saw a particular firearm I wanted to look at , I asked for help from the employee behind the counter , but he completely ignored me , I asked again, Can you help me? In a little bit louder tone, The employee looked me in a disgusting way and told me to wait In a horrible tone. Then, a couple of minutes of him doing nothing , he attended me . I gave him my ID card to see a firearm in the display, and he gave me the firearm . I told him this is a famous pistol known for being horrible, funny looking ,for the memes, and I would love to purchase this firearm But the employee said, and I quote, I AM NOT GOING TO SELL YOU FIREARM BECAUSE OF MEMES. I said why exactly because thats not a valid reason to decline me. The employee said and quote I will not be going to sell you this firearm because it will be under my name for 20 years. I said, Okay , give me my ID back. When he gave me my ID card, the employee scratched it on the display glass . Theres couple of scratches on my ID card now. I walked away. Then I saw that same employee in the front of the store . I asked him If he can give me his name and the employee said what for? I asked again. can I have your name? But the employee said and quote No, Im not giving you my name. I asked to speak to speak to a supervisor , But the employee looked at me and completely ignored me and walked away.

Terrible customer service! Terrible store! Lots of merchandise strewn about on the floor. Two of the Staff in pick up orders deptartment playing around acting like they are in 2nd grade and not acommodating customers at all! Unbelieveable! If they have time to fool around, they have time to pick up stuff off the floor, at least! Only 1 cashier and incredibly long line of customers ready to check out. So much more to the story about todays trip to Academy on west expressway 83 McAllen Tx. But whats the use? Never again! I guess I am just accustomed to clean stores with good customer service like Target and even Walmart. And Target and Walmart do offer everything Academy does including shipping and delivery! Horrible customer service. Walk in and all employees intentionally avoid you. They don t want to be bothered or do their job. Stood at the front of the store for 10 minutes waiting to exchange an item as they usually have to mark the tag of the item you are returning/ exchanging. Finally went up to a lady standing there with a phone to her ear not even talking and hadn t been for the previous 5 mins. Simply asked her if I could get the tag marked. Made an ugly face at me and reluctantly nodded her head yes. I just turned around and walked out. I d much rather drive another 15 mins to another location, which I will be doing from now on. Absolutely 0 customer service. You guys have lost the plot!!!

I had bought a $800 NordicTrack treadmill through Amazon, but when the delivery truck came I saw that the box was heavily beaten up and torn, parts of the treadmill were exposed, poking out of the box. Its as if Amazon had threw the dang thing off a building. It was ridiculous. I rejected the delivery and Amazon refunded me. Then I thought it might be worth it to try ordering the treadmill through Academy and picking it up in person, hoping for better results. When the Academy employees carted out the treadmill box to load in my truck, the box was in perfect condition, it was immaculate. Lesson is: dont waste your time with Amazon for big items like treadmills. Amazon doesnt give a #@$#!
