K, I ve had one too many visits to the Gremlin, never, not even once have I had a bad one. Some nights were better than others, but the Gremlin adds such a unique charm to the valley that contrasts the boisterous, spotlight driven ambience that is most of DT. No shade, just a different scene is all. The Gremlin is a scene of its own, wish i had photos of their fried pickles or fried oreos, or even just their drafts. Check this place out (Weds karaoke!!)

I love this venue, especially the first friday of every month, there are open decks where you can sign up to practice your dj skills. The venue have a lot of different events for all type of crowds, the beer is nice and cold and the bartenders are cute and helpful.

Went for a concert and the sound was absolute garbage. Speakers are all blown and the band was clearly pissed. Sound crew either didnt understand or didnt care. Venues like this should stick to little acoustic gigs, its not worth the ticket prices. The food, especially for a true dive bar, was pretty great! Definitely not your usual bar food. Drink selection is typical for this area and Ive just gotten used to the hipster needs. While the staff were pleasant once you got to them, they are massively understaffed. The show was clearly sold out and they were not at all prepared.

We took the kids to see a band, let me tell you. This is definitely not our scene but the food was amazing and the waitresses behind the bar made us feel like part of the family! Definitely recommend, thank you guys! Everyone was so nice and welcoming.

Went here and got the burrito, chicken and waffle, truffle fries, and the mimosa set up. TRUFFLE FRIES ARE A MUST! They were crunchy, not oily, and had the perfect amount of parmesan. The thing that made the burrito stand out was the fries inside. As for the chicken and waffle, the chicken was extra crispy and waffle was a plain waffle. This all gave me the brunch that I was looking for. The only downside was that we couldn t eat inside due to the strong smell of cigar.

I love the pork belly tacos from here especially on Tuesdays when theyre only $2. I use to come here a lot in the evenings to enjoy open mic nights but now I cant stay awake that late anymore . I highly recommend coming here on Tuesdays because they have $2 beer and tacos and they have entertainment starting from 8pm-2am. The staff are very friendly, the food is great and they have a great selection, and the vibes are always very chill and calm.

The Gremlin is a space far removed cheap pumps and dresses found in the clearance section at Ross. A block away from debauchery, it remains a safe haven for those who dont belong or connect with stobe lights and the two dollar beer scene. If youve ever walked into bar and immediately felt you didnt fit in, The Gremlin is the place for you. Every time I visit, I feel like Im visiting a friends house. If your into LGBTQ causes / themed events, live music, craft beer, chill atmosphere, welcoming staff and GREAT FOOD!, visit The Gremlin down town on 16th. You wont regret it.

Tues 2/21/23 7pm- We normally dont visit downtown McAllen but decided to give this location a try. Its small inside but there is plenty of outdoor space outside. The location does give a bar type vibe; the inside is very charming. They had an event around 9-10 but unfortunately we couldnt stay. There is a small stage in the front and a bigger stage out back. Its a nice hangout spot.

When I ask what comes on the tacos, I ask because of allergies. My friend got tacos with sesame seeds on it, and they didnt say it came on them. A stray seed caused me to have a major allergic reaction. Please learn your menu and know how to answer customers questions regarding ingredients. It could have been more serious than it was, if I didnt take a benadryl on time. Tacos dont usually come with sesame seeds on them, so I didnt think to ask if that could happen, otherwise, I would have been specific on my food allergy.

Love the live music and beer selection! Bartender was a bit rude when I was just trying to let her know some girl is stuck in the toilet without paper. Kinda sad to leave this place two stars but I feel I got played with the taco tuesday deals they had going on for beer. I m NOT complaining about the tacos. They were amazing, and well worth it. My complain is with the beer deal. Their insta made a post where beer was on sale for $2 on tuesdays, but that only applied for ONE beer (out of many available options). Their insta post read $2 beers , word for word. Maybe it was my fault for not asking beforehand, but I think if you have beer on sale you should specify whether it s all available beers or just one beer in special. Other than that it s an amazing place thats s worth checking out. It would have just been nice to have some more transparency.

This place has a great vibe. Funky. Dive-ish. A little bit of everything, from the decor to the food. Menu offerings are limited but interesting and tasty. Large selection of beers. There is live music at times and also a midsize outdoor venue with a stage. Indoor and outdoor seating, including graffiti covered picnic tables. The recorded music was too loud to carry on a conversation unless you sat around the corner. The food portions are small. Order food and drinks at the bar.

The ambiance is amazing, the customer service is incredible, and there is always a variety of things to do here. My only thing is that the food is pretty pricy for the amount you get, although the quality is absolutely incredible. I got pork belly tacos, fries, pretzel, and Korean wings. The tacos are a nice Mexican/Asian fusion, they are incredibly well done and delicious. The fries are well seasoned and their sauce was pretty good as well just wish they also offered ranch. The Korean wings were super crispy and crunchy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside, although I would have preferred a bit more sauce on them but besides that the seasoning was perfect. Their pretzel was nice and soft doughy, they give you 3 sauces one is a cream cheese ranch blend which was just perfect and the other two are spicy mustard and regular mustard. Overall the food is great just a bit pricy for the amount, but its a bar so I know most people dont really come here for the food. Sorry I didnt get a pic of the wings and pretzel.

Friendly staff. Sat outdoors for a while and was never approached although there was at least one employee tending to other tables outside. Went inside and was told they dont have table service and must order inside. Ordered chicken sandwich, shrimp skewers, brussel sprouts. Sandwich was good. Brussel sprouts were too greasy but good flavor. Shrimp were bland and pretty small portion. Overall, not too impressed by food. Good beer selection. But may not return because of the two cats jumping on tables outside. I dont like cats. I also prefer to eat outdoors.

The open door concept is great when the weather is good but considering I went during a windy night, the rating is going to reflect how well the staff compensated for the weather conditions. On that cold night everyone had to huddle in groups with strangers to stay warm and we waited forever for the event to start. It wasnt until the end of the night that heaters were brought out but by then everyone was already leaving. Hopefully 3rd times the charm and next time I go, I will have a better experience.

It was a really good place if you like alternative music with craft beers. The food was good and filled us up. Manager was very cool and available if you needed anything. The wait staff was extremely helpful in deciding which craft beer will meet your taste. Try one of their shots! They have a huge outside area with a covered section for dancing. I went with a large group of friends to the gremlin a few weeks ago and had a truly memorable experience. The drinks there are fairly priced and very good, though they only serve beer and wine, no spirits. That wasnt an issue though because of the wide array they offered. The chef there is clearly doing what she loves, as each dish had a very distinct taste and feel. The pork belly tacos and pulled pork sandwiches were truly delicious. The chicken wings and poke bowl I wasnt a huge fan of, but thats just my personal taste. What separates this place, however, is the atmosphere. Lo fi music and stringed lights make up this down to earth, close nit feel. Then again, maybe it was the fact that I had 10 drinks for 40 bucks. 10/10 would go again

Ive not felt like I have found a place that makes me feel at home and welcome when I walk in. The staff is not only friendly, they are very well educated on the beers that they serve. I was so pleased by the brunch menu they offered. I enjoyed the back patio that had my favorite cornhole game. Antonio was very friendly and so welcoming.
