My family and I had a blast exploring the trails. We saw tiny creatures such as different types of insects to animals. Bunnies, cardinal, woodpecker, etc. They have a sensory area for the children, inclined hills, picnic tables, restrooms, and clear paths. Beautiful nature park

Nice natural nature park with winding trails and overgrown trees. They have three sets of trails that intersect and weave through thick vegetation of mesquite, cactus, and other south Texas brush. You will see and hear a good mix of birds here. I saw many types of lizards scurrying across the paths. I also saw several bunnies. Nice place to walk and relax. They have picnic tables, benches, water fountains, and restrooms.

This is a park that is in the middle of transition. The pathways are beautiful and easy to navigate. Many flowering shrubs and trees attracting a lot of butterflies. Birds were swimming in the Resaca. While walking down named trails, you are serenaded by many bird songs. They have been working hard to get the park back into the vision that is expected for McAllen. The Website states there is a Visitor Center for check-in. It is a locked up mobile home. If you want restrooms, they are clean and in working order with water and flush toilets. I will come back and see the progress and visit this treasure.

For the location and size, its cute. There was a little trash in the main area. The back is open and leads to the Westside park fence..not sure if theyre expanding or what. I saw many bunnies, birds and butterflies. It does need an update but its in the city and I hope it stays.

The place itself is ok , but the City of McAllen is doing this historic place a Great discredit not only to the center but to the city of McAllen for which its name is shares. The center looks bare, unkept, abandoned, in need of repair. The decapitated grounds are overflowing with weed the are is such a beautiful place and could be maintained much, much better. I remember going there as a child when they still had the old house and waterfall.

Of all the things than McAllen does really well... This is not one of them. Its obvious that at its inception, someone special put some thoughtful deliberation and planning into this place. The trails were very well designed and theres plenty of open spaces too, with tables and bathrooms. But overall, it seems that McAllen Parks & Recreation has forgotten about this place that could be such an enrichment for the whole community. Either that, or they just put the money that should have gone towards it into something else. Check out the photos, unkempt and overgrown.

Located in the center of the city, it can appropriately be considered the heart of the city. This is, in my opinion, the best public place to connect with nature in McAllen. The forest trails are not huge but still hold there own and sustain native thornforest, a site nowadays. This alone is more than a reason to visit. And the McAllen Nature Center offers various nature tours (bird walks, plant tours) and fitness programs (Yoga, running, Tai Chi) with friendly and helpful staff. A repeatable experience

One and a 1/2 or so miles of crushed granite gravel trails, great to get out for the family, all the local Flora and fauna youd expect, functional bathrooms, over all a pretty nice place
