I would recommend visiting the museum. It is very affordable and has nice exhibits. I visited during the Ella exhibition by Nour Kuri and Microscape tapestry exhibits and found so wonderful. I also really enjoyed looking at the animals in the Biolife room. It seemed like a great place for kids but a little less so for adults. Still very enjoyable. I loved the music tile wall they had and had a blast playing and figuring out all the sounds. I will say, however, that it felt very cavernous and empty in some spaces and feel like there could be a better use of space , dividers, and interactive experiences to give it a different feel. Regardless, I was very entertained and left feeling happy and satisfied. I look forward to future exhibitions.

the music tiles were a lot of fun! children are sure to have a great time tapping on each tile and listening to the different sounds. the room with the animals like lizards, fish, and frogs was a challenge for me but interesting nonetheless. this room is sure to spark curiosity! on this day there was an exhibit called Ella that was so beautiful. i loved looking at all the art pieces. i would definitely recommend this museum to parents because it s interactive.

Its a shame that the city of McAllen has big funds and cant even invest in some kind of upgrade for this museum. Its boring with the same displays for the past 10 years or More and still has the audacity to charge?? Literally in 10 minutes your done watching the whole building unless you got children then you spend more time.

I am giving this place 2 star because of the price. The price is great. But for there to be no children s museum in this area, this place could be great, it s just not. There is a big open space with a water cycle with plastic balls that kids can play with, but thats it. The planet room display is just that. A big screen talking about planets. Nothing interactive. There is so much opportunity for this to be a place where kids can come play and learn while having fun.

Great museum for McAllen. I recommend buying the family membership, which will get you into the museum for free for the duration of your membership (its an annual membership), discounts at the gift shop, for certain events that the museum hosts, and for summer classes for your kids (and maybe for adults too since they have adult classes). I wish they had a bit more funding as they used to have an outdoor playground for kids that was removed. Other than that, great place!

This place used to be a GREAT place to spend quality time with your kiddos. It sucks how all the physical fun has been replaced. I get it this is a museum and not a playground, but watching the changes over the years is depressing. From being here 4 hours having fun to it being cut to less than two hours cause there isn t much to do.

I see how this museum is more geared for kids, not adults. Its cheap. Could be a good cheap stop to escape the heat. I heard about this place when it was mentioned about in a YouTube. With a title like that I was very excited to go. There was a neat display of artists (wasnt clear if it was a particular exhibit), but it was there. Then we rounded the corner into the science portion. It was a huge, empty room. no explanations with any of the interactive displays. It was primarily set up for a kids play place.

Frankly they should drop any mention of science from the name of this museum. Thescience half of the museum is mostly empty. A few mineral rocks is all I saw and that wasnt even to teach about evolution as they were fossil free. This is a pointless place to bring children for education.

IMAS has continued to be such a wonderful respite from the heat for our family. The museum offers collections of art to appreciate with the whole family as well as interactive play areas for the kids. My children love creating art in their arts and crafts corner. The mini market store play area is popular as well. One of the littles can t get enough of the children s wall climbing feature. I appreciate all of the little features IMAS has to offer for our entire local community. We will continue to visit and explore this little gem.

I highly recommend it if you are looking for something to get out of the routine and distract the children in an educational way.

doesnt seem like this place is even operable. not even about the price since its very affordable, but it is just a waste of time. I was truly shocked to see almost nothing there when I remeber it being such a nice museum with lots to do. the art area was about the 1 place I could entertain my child. however, their project of the month was not age appropriate so I asked if he could paint considering the loads of paintbrushes, paint and paper available. the employee said no because it wasnt the project of the month. a recycled windchime or a cd with string and beads taped to it. seems like a project that doesnt produce a lot of time or effort for the employees. considering we were the only ones in the whole museum on a weekday afternoon I dont see why we couldnt paint. Im sure the employees love being able to sit all day with barely anything to do tho. she stayed at her desk working on the wind chime on her own. is she a glorified babysitter because I dont understand the point. the grocery section was sticky all over and needs a good scrubbing with a magic eraser. the big room where there was a lot of activities had nothing and they put away the tables and toys they had out when the other kids left leaving nothing for my son. this place should not be opened in the state its in. I asked if there was going to be anything added in the future and the employee told me they were going to renovate the room. so you really cant have anything out in the meantime? and the minute a child leaves you put away the tables (plastic tables) mind you, and the plastic tins of magnets and blocks? I know my son is young but he could have had fun playing with that. not at all engaging, I should have took him somewhere else. its such a shame because we severely lack educational spaces for children in the valley and this one has gone down hill. I really hope the employees and whoever is running the place now gets a spark of interest soon because the kids of the RGV deserve it.
