I was not very impressed by the food here, for me the prices felt a bit overpriced for what you get, I tried the oxtail & jerk chicken plate, and both dishes left me feeling a bit disappointed. The oxtail was tender and the sauce had a good flavor to it, the chicken was slightly dry for me but I did like the spicy sauce, I was not very impressed by the sides. Overall I dont see myself returning or recommending the place.

We got the jerk chicken and the oxtails and it was DELICIOUS. They both come with a side of veggies and rice that was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The jerk chicken was smoked and fell off the bone. The spice was spicy but flavorful, I m Mexican so I like spicy stuff

My wife and I just tried this place for the first time, and we are so glad we did. We ordered the jerk chicken plate and the food was amazing! The location is a little small, but we enjoyed the intimate atmosphere. Well definitely be coming back to try the other items on the menu. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone/everyone who is a fan of delicious flavor and wants to try something different than youd normally find around the Valley.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I come from Harlingen every weekend to have the Brown stew chicken with the bomb rice and peas. The wings, chicken curry and ox tail is also amazing. The Jerk chicken is finger licking too. I mean it s all great. Thank yall for bringing a piece of the Caribbean to the RGV. We need these mom and pops places to stay alive. My son and I decided to try this place out. He s been interested in the Jamaican culture. I was hesitant on coming because i like to stick to what I m use to and I m so glad I gave this place a try! I got the jerk chicken which has a spice to it and it s similar to bbq chicken. It was so good! My son got the curry chicken which has a delicious sauce! Both plates came with rice and vegetables. Sooo good! The ladies were very nice and helpful. They helped us decide and answered any questions we had since it was our first time here n trying this delicious Jamaican food! I came here for Valentines Day because I wanted to show the love to small-owned businesses. This was my first time ever having jerk chicken and it won t be my last! The chicken was so tender falling off the bone paired well with their homemade sauce. The rice was so seasoned. I also had their freshest plantains and it was the real deal! I could not ask for a better experience! The person attending us was so warm and welcoming since this was our first time trying authentic Jamaican. Everyone has had chicken and rice, but jerk chicken and rice takes things up several notches. Just a perfect blend of spice and heat. I also had three beef patties. We tried ordering for a group at work on their website as the door dash had a lot of extra charges. We got a call from them saying they didnt get out order over 40 min after placing the order but they had my phone number from the person who would deliver it. I was then asked to call their third person service they use for online orders for them to sort it out. I was then hung up on. I then received a call from another number about the order, after the customer service we recieved we decided to just cancel the order. We were charged for the order they apparently never got as well and are hopeful for a refund. Our staff really wanted to try the food so we then ordered verbally over the phone and sent someone ourselves to pick it up. When they went we were then short changed as they didnt have enough money. Food was fine, but a lot of the menu items were not available. Based on the service we wont order from them again

It was my first time here today, and I think I shouldve come sooner. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere definitely had good vibes to it. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Plate and took it home for lunch. The first thing that got my attention was the amount of rice there was. Usually rice is a side that comes in a smaller quantity, but I absolutely loved the taste of it! Its a 10/10 on its own and I loved it even more with the sauce that comes with the plate. The sauce has a spicy bbq taste to it, and it doesnt have a thick viscosity either; which is to my liking. I also used it with the chicken and the taste was really good too. I really liked the seasoning and texture that the chicken had. The chicken itself was so soft that it came right off the bone without effort. The amount of chicken thats in the plate might not be satisfying for others, but for me I think it was enough. The rice and vegetables both had a really good taste to them, so Id be disappointed if they put less of that to make room for more chicken. I payed about $18 for the plate and a can of Sprite, and honestly I think its worth it. Im very satisfied to know that I got my moneys worth because overall the quality was really great.

Ive seen this restaurant move from different locations twice already and I never understood why until today. The idea of the Rio Grande Valley having Jamaican Jerk Chicken available in its vicinity is awesome. However the idea only works if the food is good and that is the unfortunate part of the Jamaican Jerk Stop, there food isnt really that good. I paid 45 dollars for two Jerk chicken plates and two drinks along with two chicken patties. Take away the drinks and the appetizer each Jamaican jerk chicken plate came out to the price of at least 16 dollars each. NOT TO MENTION What came in our plates; At least 2-3 servings of a bland cold mush of Rice and peas LEGIT the whole plate was basically rice and beans with no flavor. On the top right corner of my plate existed a small space to where the chef laid 3 small pieces of chicken that resembled of mostly bone and no meat. I dug in to whatever chicken I had left in those bones and felt not only unsatisfied with the try hard flavor of the Jamaican Jerk chicken but also with everything else in general. The environment, the food, the sides, the flavor and most of all the prices are all poor with this restaurant and whatever it has left of its soul. I rate the Jamaican Jerk Stop 1 STAR, in hopes it can bounce back up and rekindle whatever flame it had to enter the restaurant business to begin with.

This is the most authentic Jamaican food you can get in the RGV. Everything on the menu is a must. Cuury, jerked even the goat is two finger . Whether its patties for a light snack or a plate to hold you down for a day or two during lunch or dinner. Wow! What a burst of flavor! Everything we had was delicious. We decided to get a variety. Our favorite was the oxtail! It was so tender and flavorful. Next favorite, the beef patties! They had this flakiness to outside breading and the meat inside was flavored so deliciously. Hubs, got the crab cakes and said they were totally worth the price. First time here, the jerk chicken was delicious, it has a nice spice and smoky flavor from the wood fire, i also tried the beef patties. It was tasty it has a little heat but i love it.

Loved every thing we ordered. We ordered the curry chicken, oxtail, and fried plantains. The curry chicken reminds me of Vietnamese curry chicken, only a little more flavor and spicy. I don t like spicy but this spicy flavor is something I can handle, so it wafs definitely a good kick! The oxtail was simple and delicious! I loved the cabbage and veggies also! The plantains were good and simple. What really made this meal was how flavorful and simple it is. Definitely going to add this to our take out rotation. They were out of curry goat, so will try that next time!

This place is legit the business. We tried the goat and the chicken plates, and they were amazing. Bold, but not overpowering, and honestly, such a unique and beautiful taste. I usually hate lima beans and peas, BUT, in the salad that you have them in, they tasted awesome. Anyways, support local businesses.

Heard about it from a friend on a Sunday. By Saturday I had eaten there 3 times. The food is so good, well seasoned, and unlike anything else in the area. Staff is friendly and food comes out fresh every time.

One of the best places to eat in the RGV. Im glad that more cultures are being represented in our cuisine and Jamaican Jerk Stop is one of the best. The Jerk chicken is flavorful, tasty and spicy. Festival bread is a must with any dish. curry goat and oxtail both cost $14.99 a plate but they are very much worth it. Tender meat, flavorful. I love going to eat at Jamaican Jerk Shop. The food is 110% Authentic. As a Native New Yorker from West Indian decent..they make food of my childhood memories. You can taste the pride a family puts into their food. I plan on continuing to bring friends their so they can have a little peice of heaven. BTW....The Curry Goat and Oxtail is my ishhhhh...

The food is very delicious when I recently pulled up the parking lot I was actually going down to the fried Place decided to give a try to this Jamaican restaurant the owners are wonderful very friendly including the server which is the daughter of the owners our food was very tasteful and the curry was very rich and amazing the young lady sitting down in the corner table every weekend is very helpful as well they seem to get very busy in the weekends but she helped us by getting the menus very thoughtful of her and recommended us plates as well definitely coming back, worth driving from Harlingen

Had the oxtail, comes with rice, it was so tender and flavorfull, remind me of Caldo de Res it was fall of the bone juicy, the rice has a cajun-like seasoning so its savory and plenty. Also had the fried plantane, awesome! Tastes like funnel cake! Tired of same old burgers and tacos? Check this place out, anything you order is delicious.

Worth the drive! A different and unique flavor in the valley. The staff is friendly and helpful when indecisive what to select from the menu. Stopped by with my wife and both of us absolutely loved the jerk chicken. Also could not stop eating the rice and peas. Plus the plantains were super tasty. We live in Harlingen but will definitely return for other dishes on the menu.
