My family and I just attended one of the best weddings Ive been to here at The Retreat at Balcones. We spent 2 nights ( I wish it was more) enjoying the 250 acres of beauty and fun. The grounds are amazing with dozens of things to do. From pickleball courts, tennis courts, zip lines, pool, lakes, and so much more to do. The activities for the wedding were spread out over 2 days. The staff is EXCEPTIONAL, the food and service were Exceptional as well. I look forward to returning for a family vacation in the future. Thank for a wonderful time!

My husband and I were guests at a destination wedding for one of our family members and it was very fun! At first, we had some issues with the AC unit, but the staff and owner were quick to help fix the issue. I so enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and variety of outdoor activities! We really enjoyed The Beach . My daughter got sick while we were there (throwing up) so I called the front office to see if we could get more towels. They were quick to respond and even brought trash bags, gloves, and Lysol cleaner just in case. Overall a good experience. My only drawback was that there wasn t a ton of indoor activities (as it was hot), but then again maybe I should ve looked more into it! Thank you Balcones for a lovely weekend!

I dont think theres a better place to get married. The Retreat made our entire weekend incredible. Starting on Friday we hosted a Welcome Dinner & Smores After Party. The food at the Welcome Dinner was delicious and the venue set everything up seamlessly. The Smores After Party was a really fun way to spend time with our loved ones and enjoy those summer camp vibes. On Saturday we had a little bit of weather and the venue quickly adjusted and made our ceremony inside beautiful. Lexie our coordinator went above and beyond on everything and we had no clue when there were mishaps. The crab cakes were incredible - hats to the Chef. Most importantly, the venue is super dog friendly so our guys were able to be apart of our big day. If you are thinking about getting married here, dont think any further. Just do it. You wont be disappointed.

The staff, the food, the activities, the accommodations, the service, etc were all truly amazing. We had our guests tell us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. We attended a work offsite at Balcones Spring the second week of December 2023. There were over 40+ of us and we stayed for 3 nights. The accommodations were awesome - cozy, clean, and cabin-themed. The grounds are impeccable and we all felt like we were at summer camp and kids again. There are so many fun things to do and the place was humming with holiday lights and cheer. The staff and the food were incredible. Many of my colleagues expressed wanting to return ourselves with our kids for more fun. I bet the summer is amazing there, and if my kids were younger, I would trust to send them there under the care of Christine, the owner, and her trusted and kind staff. Thank you for a great visit. The grounds are well taken care of and the staff was always welcoming and helpful. I had plenty of lovely nooks and crannies to make gorgeous photographs and despite the Texas heat and humidity, the Retreat made sure everyone was comfortable and most of all, made us feel special. Highly recommend this place for a wedding.

My husband and I hosted our daughters wedding at The Retreat. We wanted to have an environment where the families and friends could spend time together and make deeper connections than a typical wedding weekend allows. Most of our guests stayed in the charming and well-equipped cabins. We gathered each morning for coffee and hearty breakfasts. We played pickleball--grandmothers v. grandmothers was a highlight. We played kickball--bride v. groom where guests ranging from age 3 to age 83 could participate. Guests hiked, played ping pong, basketball, and volleyball. There was an impromptu canoe race where all participants ended up swimming ashore! When a mild cold front blew through the staff worked its magic (without a word from me or my husband)... building a fire in the grand dining hall fireplace, serving hot apple cider and hot chocolate (the kids had whipped cream and sprinklers added to their hot chocolate mugs!), baskets of shawls and throws appeared for the guests, and gas heaters were rolled out. Each guest was made to feel at home. There are a lot of beautiful venues in the world, but The Retreat is magical! The staff is wonderful! And, the food is delicious! We dont have another daughter, but if we did wed be back at The Retreat for the wedding. Wed like to thank the entire staff at The Retreat. We loved working with all of you. Wed also like recognize Jennifer Baldwin, the wedding coordinator at The Retreat, for helping us smoothly navigate the planning process and for keeping us sane during the actual wedding weekend. There were no glitches! Not even small ones! Finally, wed also especially like thank Christine Baskin, the owner of The Retreat, for, well, everything. Her hand can be felt in every detail from the wild flower bouquets in the cabins, to the Texas butter bars served at lunch, to the calabacitas appetizers served at the rehearsal dinner, to the Mission Impossible glow sticks tossed to the guests on the dance floor. Christine is a gifted hostess who cares about her guests. We will remember the feeling of the weekend forever.

The place is beautiful and surrounded by nature. But one thing that made me really upset is that they have this macaw (a huge parrot) imprisoned by itself in a tiny cage that is not even big enough to open its wings. The bird has bouts of anger (can you blame it? It has been in a very small space for 6 years by itself) and looks very unhappy. For a place that cares so much about being in close contact with nature, keeping a majestic animal like a Scarlet Macaw in such condition is disappointing to say the least.

I spent 2 nights at The Retreat for a corporate event. It was downright delightful! Coming from Cedar Park, I couldnt believe how close it was. I was so excited to have my own cabin (and my own bathroom!) for 2 nights. I felt like anything we could have wanted, they were able to provide. The staff was so nice and so friendly. We managed to pick a day for outdoor activities where the temperature never got above freezing - they provided outdoor heaters, cider and blankets. We didnt let 31 degree weather stop us from ziplining and axe throwing, ha! We even had fires in the fireplaces in our meeting and dining rooms. I think I pretty much ate and drank coffee all day long.

My wife and I hosted our wedding weekend at The Retreat at Balcones Springs this past May 2018. Let me save you some time -- we visited a dozen venues in the Hill Country on our quest to find the perfect place. We did, but we never expected The Retreat to have such a tremendous impact on our families and friends. Everyone loved it and cant wait to go back. My 8-year old nephew even included Balcones Springs on some art work he did at school (six months later!) highlighting a place that he visited. While the grounds themselves are truly remarkable, its the team Christine has assembled there that really brings the experience to life. Caitlyn and Jennifer made our wedding planning experience seamless and as simple as possible. They bring years of event planning experience to the table and calmly/confidently guided us through each step of the process. (Hint: No wedding planner required!) All requests were accommodated; in fact, they pushed us to brainstorm ideas for ways to customize our weekend and make it unique for us and special for our guests. They even added their own touches/surprises -- champagne and a fridge full of topo chico (my wifes favorite beverage) in our honeymoon cabin (overlooking the lake), romantic sweetheart table dining during our private moment after our ceremony, etc. The rest of the staff was professional and effective in executing every detail of our wedding weekend too. In fact, one of our goals was to feel like a guest at our own wedding. Mission accomplished! The best part was the reactions of our guests. We downplayed The Retreat in order to properly set their expectations for a camp wedding. The strategy worked! No one could believe that it was a youth summer camp -- both because of the caliber of the cabins and the quality of the food. During wedding season the place is transformed. And when you host an event there, the place becomes your playground/blank canvas -- we hosted a bonfire-side talent show (with smores of course), goat yoga, field day games, frisbee golf, beer burro, slip n slide kickball, a coffee truck, ziplining, skeet shooting, lakeside costume dj dance party, etc. There was never a dull moment and you can host your various meals and events in different locations around the grounds. We knew the venue was important for our wedding weekend, but we never expected The Retreat would leave such a lasting impression for us (or especially our guests)!

We dont have the words to explain how absolutely perfect our wedding weekend at the Retreat was. We wanted a camp weekend feel and the Retreat gave us a wedding beyond our wildest dreams. Guests even commended that they wish they had had their wedding there! There was something for everyone to do, either relaxing at the beach or skeet shooting or playing tennis. There are so many hidden spots to sit in an Adirondack chair and enjoy the scenery. The cabins were so comfortable and luxurious that people said they got the best sleep theyve had in years. But the real reason the weekend was so perfect was because of the absolutely incredibly hardworking staff. Our coordinators, Caitlyn and Jennifer, went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure that the whole weekend was seamless. From making creative chalkboard signs for guests to grab their gifts to bringing us hors doeuvres while we took photos during cocktail hour knowing that we would miss it but not wanting to tell us since we wanted to make it, they took SUCH great care of us and every single guest. They organized vans after the buses left knowing that some people would inevitably stay late and need rides back to the hotels. I dont think they sleep because they were always the first awake and last to go to sleep! They answered every single nitty gritty question in the months leading up to the weekend and we had weekly check-in calls. Im a fairly type A person but I had total and complete faith in them to execute everything beautifully and perfectly and they did just that. By the end of the weekend, we felt we had made true friends and were so sad to leave. You can truly feel how much each staff person personally cares about every guests experience and are always looking out on how they can help someone. Whether it was bringing special granola out to guests who came way after breakfast ended to bringing gluten-free options during the wedding reception to people who needed it, they accommodating every single request. Also, the food was absolutely amazing!!! The chef was SO accommodating and not only made every recipe we proposed but added extra details to make the food exceptional. They have so many options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and made sure that there was something for every palate. I could go on and on but you will not regret having your wedding at the Retreat. Christine and her entire operation have it down to a science and we wouldnt have changed a thing and know we will be back there for one of their own events because it is SUCH a special place!!!

In October I had my wedding at The Retreat at Balcones Springs. It was the most unbelievable and perfectly executed weekend. The director (Christine Baskin) and the wedding coordinator (Caitlyn Ryan) were amazing and helped with every need we had. From the bartenders, to the wedding day bride attendant (Maggie) they all made our family feel like royalty. Each room was very clean and immaculately designed. When one of the guests had difficulty with their heat the camp had someone in the room to fix it within the hour. The camp answered every question and even helped us with rentals (to match their chairs), we had a food tasting session to taste the food (which is also out of this world), and then we had several walk throughs. I could not imagine a more magical place to have a wedding and such a wonderful staff to execute it so flawlessly. I wish we could do it all again at the Retreat at Balcones!

Attended a wedding here in April 2017. Stayed Thurs eve to Sun am. It was an amazing venue. Accommodation arranged around common areas with seating and firepits, so after dining in the evening we could gather and chat with others. Meals were hosted at a number of venues across the resort, food was excellent and plentiful. The staff were so helpful with regard to any of my requests and finally there was so much to do, archery, swimming, tennis, horse riding, games in the games room or just chilling. The owner Christine has created a truly special venue.

Beautiful wedding venue! If you are having your reception in the pavilion, I would designate one trusted person to be the decision maker regarding the sides being put up or down due to inclement weather (wind, rain, cold temperatures). Otherwise, the event coordinator may not know who to take direction from which leaves room for miscommunication/ uncomfortable guests. Otherwise, the wedding I was apart of was Beautiful and the staff was very sweet and wonderful. I was particularly touched when I was outside taking photos with the wedding party and I saw the owner outside helping arrange centerpieces and putting flowers in all the right spots for the reception (that seemed cool and unique to me). After the ceremony and cocktail hour, I walked into the reception and found it to be the most beautiful reception Id ever seen.
