Sad people feed them chips and bread. I even had to tell a lady and her family she isnt supposed to feed them goldfish, and she yelled at my family and I with attitude and said, Okay, thank you. And continued to feed them goldfish. They did enjoy carrots and broccoli. They can have them in small amounts. #DontFeedGoldfish #BeKindToAnimals

This place is pretty cool. There are prairie dogs all over. Sometimes they are in the spots. Theyre not supposed to be, but thats okay. And the golf course has balls that you can In the outfield, bring your old scraps of food to feed the little guys. They like to bark at you while youre approaching their area and warn the others. Theres parks here and its a good place for gathering. This area is good for picnic. Scattering with family having birthday parties or holidays as long as the weather is permitting. Theres actually a couple of parks here I think. I go to this park sometimes if I have time to kill between shifts. Its a very peaceful place to think if you need to always very quiet and not really crowded most of the time. I even come in the rain and the prairie. Dogs do some cool stuff when its been raining because the water gets in their holes and they have to dig it out. We also unfortunately found a little skull of a prairie dog who didnt make it. I guess. That was kind of sad but no worries. Because there are plenty plenty, plenty plenty. Plenty more prairie, dog fun in the area.

Stopped by while on a road trip. Nice thing to see! There is a short brick wall that divides the sidewalk area from the grassy area where the prairie dogs are. There are prairie dog holes in the ground even past the wall, on the left side of the park. Youre able to get close enough to them. There were carrots, lettuce, and peanuts on the ground so it looks like people do feed them. There are no signs saying not too. Just a sign saying to not go past the brick wall and get too close to them. They are wild animals after all. Nice activity to do if youre passing through the area!

If you are in the city, or driving through as I was, it is a cool free place to stop by. Other than the area listed as the Prairie Dog Town, they are all over the park area. This allows you to see them easily and watch them. They are smaller than the ones I saw in South Dakota, In South Dakota they were a highlight of that road trip with food you can buy for them and hang out in the area.

It is really a great experience to have a grass dog park like this in the center of the city. There are really a lot of prairie dogs here. They are so cute. Some are responsible for guarding in the distance, some are lazily basking in the sun, and some are looking for food. They are really amazing in number and can be seen everywhere. On weekends Its really a good choice to come here with your family and children, but the staff here are terrible. They poured the Coke in the trash can on the ground regardless of whether there was anyone around. The splashed Coke even splashed on my shoes. Yes, its really frustrating.

What an amazing sanctuary for these little fellas. I loved watching them run around squeaking and squawking. Its quite amazing how wild they remain with having frequent human contact (as this is a tourist destination). Dont expect these guys to approach for food ... They are still wild and weary of human interaction.

I know of no other place one can see a protected space for prairie dogs. Grew up in Lubbock and would periodically pay homage to the dogs (and the man who founded it). There is a baseball field around it, and it can be tricky to find when relying upon GPS for some reason. Not too much else to see.

First time seeing Prairie Dogs. They are absolutely adorable. This free park lets you really see them up close. It looks like they are regularly fed as lettuce and carrots were scattered around. Someone honked their horn, and the dogs scattered. They dont like loud noise or dogs. Dont bring your dogs to see these dogs. Someone was feeding them potato chips, and there is no sign saying you couldnt feed them. We tossed them some pistachios, shelled, and they really liked them.

There are prairie dogs all over this end of Lubbock but if you have children, you can probably get closer to them here. There are some information panels about how prairie dog Burrows are constructed. This is part of a larger Recreation Area with ball fields but there are no restaurants or Services nearby so it will likely be a quick stop.

So glad these little guys are valued. Terribly cute. We take cut-up carrots to toss to them. Best part is when they all start calling. Go late in the afternoon as they seem more active before sundown. If you want to see cute little animals, this is for you. Nothing spectacular here, but they re fascinating and downright adorable little rodents. Good things about Lubbock: prairie dogs, Rosa s, Market Street. Bad things about Lubbock: every-effing-thing else. Actually, they did finally start selling alcohol during our time living there. So kudos for that.

Adorable black-tipped prairie dogs live inside (and outside) a low concrete walled enclosure in a city park. There is an informative sign and the prairie dogs are fairly brave with people watching. Its a fun thing to do with your kids of all ages and doesnt cost a thing unless you want to bring some food items for them like carrots or any leafy green veggies. Beware of this place. Kids can get bitten by the wild animals. No protection for the people or kids visiting the park. No first aid, wash stations etc.

Neat little park right off the highway. Just follow the signs around the baseball fields and you ll see them everywhere. Lots of people recommend carrots and kale we went with Cheetos, that way it was easy to tell who we had already fed by the stained paws and face.

Prairie dogs so animated. Posted history of park but no indication whether ok to feed or what to feed.
