Went to visit at 2pm on Thursday, but all gates were closed. Online business hours said they were open until 5 pm, so I called, yet no one answered. I continued to call until finally stopping a city worker in a truck. She was very polite and said they may have closed due to a storm that was moving in. The storm didnt start until 5pm or after, and there were no signs or anything to let the public know they had closed early.

One of my best friends raved about the kid friendly activities/camps however that is not what we experienced on our first and LAST visit. Susan Rowe treated my son and my friend s son poorly from the moment we walked in. There were 5 different incidents where she was very nasty and mean to our children. I m unsure of why she targeted our two kids, but it was very evident & embarrassing for my children & for myself. We will never go back.

Interesting small place, if you dont enjoy the desert or history, there is not much to see here. The interpretive center has the right information, small, simple and to the point about the history of the place. Its free and they have different dry, flat trails with different distances you can do and enjoy the outdoors, the trails also have connecting paths if you wish to make the walk shorter. I went on February so there were no flowers. I like walking so I enjoyed just being outside. Bring water, a hat, maybe snacks if you plan to do the long trails, barely any shades. You must check in at the interpretive center before going on to the trails.

Very interesting! The interpretive center gives plenty of information about the prehistory of the area as well as the more recent (150 years) history of the area. Many trails with interpretive signs. We enjoyed the 1-mile loop around the actual lake.

I wish every child in Texas could take a field trip to this historic site. Many students have a difficult time understanding the existence of the earliest people of Texas and how the evidence was collected and processed that proves there were indeed people living here eleven thousand years ago. The indoor museum provides an interactive and colorful timeline of the various groups who have lived in this region of Texas. There are two hiking trails that provides the opportunity to see the excavation sites and to imagine how different life was in the past ... and perhaps appreciate what we have today. There is no fee required for admission.

The archaeology trail was informative, interesting, and beautiful. I saw some turtles and ducks down in the marshy/pond areas, kids would probably love it! The interpretive center museum was extremely helpful in placing the site within context and describing the natural and cultural history and the geology of the area. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly!

This is one of the few pockets of nature in Lubbock in which you can feel a sense of the landscapes history and beauty. Their trails are just serene and lovely and undisturbed which is rare in a region where agriculture & ranching dominate. We have seen many snakes, tarantulas, hawks & owls. The facilities and exhibits are equally enjoyable. Their staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the people, landscape and animals that once was and shares their knowledge respectfully and kindly.

Very rude, (Susan) is there no ethics in the way people speak to one another. Because if so, leave now, to a wonderful family smiling and enjoying the day. Was no where near ethics on how to approach anyone. What happened to treat others the way you would like to be treated? Would I recommend anyone to visit or even explore this so called establishment? No if the way people there continues to treat, and talk to visitors so rude... I suggest all members, volunteers, and staff go through some sort of ethic training on how to approach and how to speak to tourist and those visiting their establishment. This Family deserves an apology for sure for the way they were treated.

Lucchese and Jordan did a fantastic job leading our school group throughout the trail and museum. We had a large group of 29 children and they handled the group with ease. The museum portion of the facility provided detailed information about the history of the Clovis paleoindians, prehistoric animals, and the excavation process of the landmark. The recreations of moments in time featuring The Clovis people, the Apache, and the Comanche Indians and the 3D printed megafauna bone manipulatives were favorites among our K through 5th grade summer camp group. We were even lucky enough to witness some archaeologists in action during our nature hike! Thank you, Lubbock Lake Landmark staff, for making our field trip fun and educational!
