I have been to many on the border locations across the DFW area. This one is probably the worst, worse than the ones in Colorado. Second worst location is the Lake Worth location. No salt on my first margarita brought me steak instead of chicken. This location is a disappointment to the on the border brand

We went 8/23/24 with a group of 16! I called before to make sure they could accommodate all of us together and was told yes. When we got there tables were not ready and they tried to separate us into 2 tables. We were there for my grandfathers wedding anniversary. Its his first without his wife whom we lost in April 2024. The manager was extremely rude and insisted she didnt speak to me so she couldnt help me. The waiter couldnt handle everything himself so we rarely got drinks and 2 of my kids had gotten fajitas and they didnt even get them til everyone was already almost done eating and then they only brought 1 plate. So they ended up having to share a meal because it would have taken another 30 minutes for another plate. Then to have to pay $30 for a required tip is outrageous to me when he wasnt even around most of the time. We were going to the kitchen having to ask for items we needed. Needless to say we wont be back and we dont suggest this place for others at all!

This place has really gone downhill. It took about 8 mins before I could get someones attention to seat us and the line that had formed at entrance. The waiter didnt ask if we wanted appetizers but took out order. So I said we wanted queso, n he sd oh ok well Ill get that out before ur food...genius. FF 10 mins, food comes out. Then I had to remind him of queso. Which was the ONLY good thing on the table. IMO. I thought Id play it safe and ordered beef enchiladas with red sauce. My phone was dead so I couldnt take pic. But enchiladas were covered in ground beef and an almost black sauce. It seriously tasted like wolf brand chili. 2 people ordered them and the waiter didnt even acknowledge that there were only a couple bites taken off each plate when we asked for our ticket. Dont care to return.

We had to notify the management regarcing a Door Dash order 2 dead baby cockroaches where found in queso dip that came with empanadas. Great way to ruin an appetite. DoorDash is esculating this incident. We filed complaint with Lubbock enviromential Health. The Person at Restaurant,Roddie, laughed and said the just had exterminator at property as he laughed and didnt take complaint serious. Lets see how funny it is when 15 thousand contacts via Linkedin are made aware not to eat at this restuarant in Lubbock. Will be vmcontact kcbd Dirty Diner about this issue as well

What great service - chips were fresh and we ordered hand mixed guacamole. Yummy good. We split the sampler platter. The plate came out hot and they gave us an extra plate that was hot as well, this way when we put food on that plate it stayed warm as well. We will be back. Thank you for the great service.

In this restaurant, the fellow leo alleged magnager scams the workers and mistreats them and does not pay his employees for the hours worked. A few days ago he had Delvis castellano and Juan Carlos mainegra working who had to leave that restaurant due to the impudence of the I read that and finally, when they told him that they would no longer work, he robbed them of a week of work. Here I leave their real names so that they can see that it is not a lie. Besides, if someone from the city tells you this, please give them a warning. hygiene due to the amount of dirt that a place that produces food has on the thing

We hadnt been to On The Border in years and decided to try it again, so we did. I wish we hadnt. There was no hostess so we just stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting for someone (ANYONE) to come seat us. There was only one other customer sitting at a table all by his lonesome; we shouldve taken that as a clue. Finally, a kitchen worker came out from behind the prep room to seat us; she was nice but in an obvious hurry. We thanked her and sat down. A waitress appeared fairly quickly and we ordered our drinks. Okay. Good. She came back with them farl quickly and took our order. We gave it to her and then a loong time went by. She came back with our drinks and took our food orders well. Time to settle in for a really loooong time. My husband - who had ordered Steak Fajitas - said, Did they have to go back in there to butcher the cow or what??! This takin FOREVER!! I tried to soothe him by plying him with ywr even MORE chips & salsa....but even THAT was now subject to ridicule: Hell, we ordered some dadgum QUESO bout an hour ago!! But HERE, apparently, they have ta milk the cow, churn the cream, and make into CHEESE before they can even bring that out!!. (Please note: my great big, strong hubbie gets really snarky when hungry - which is MOST of the time...,) About the time he raised his voice, our poor waitress either got scared & spilled our drinks on the way out OR she got angry and decided to....yes... thats right: TO SPILL THEM ALL ON THE WAY OUT causing a delay worse than those (beep)-ing) Climate Change people who block the roadways. About 20 minutes later we received both our queso and our entrees together! But it didnt matter anyway because we were out of chips & patience by then. Food was mediocre and the service was just nearly non-existent. My husband summed it up in a particularly perfect way: Well, I remember why we stopped eatin out here. Shoulda known there was a reason for that!! No harm, no foul, right? The food was okay. Not great just okay. The service was practically non-existent. (I could understand that IF the place was packed & rowdy; however it was only the two of us and the sweet little old man chewing meticulously with every bite of food. (Who knows... Maybe his dentures were hurting him that day....?) Anyway, good luck if you go to eat here. And, hey, Im not being petty. I also realize we might have just caught them on a bad day when too many staff members called in sick or something. But, if so, they really need to apologize up front. Had they done so, we wouldve tried harder to be understanding & patient. Its just not too easy when your spouse is like The Hulk when hes hungry....Dont make me mad! You wont LIKE ME WHEN IM MAD!!! the server was fine but judged us based on the fact that our little sister was paying for her own food not knowing our situation at all , little do they know she has more money than the other three of us that were there. proceeded to say her food was on them and kept saying our card was declined when we paid with both cash and card . they were rude and all huddled up like teenagers gossiping and pointing at our table while saying our card declined 3-4 separate times . we did leave the tip instead of taking it back like we should have . moral of the story , rude people 10/10 would not recommend this place. food wasnt even worth it.

Atmosphere is typical for a Mexican food restaurant in this area. The food was so terrible the last two times. This time around I ordered one of their combos and the wife had street tacos. Kiddo had a corn dog. Corndog was so burnt, they must of had a new kitchen employee that night on the fryers. Grease under the rice, food was burnt, and the sauces felt they have been in a pan all day. When we arrived on a Sunday evening mind you the entire restaurant was empty minus 2 other tables.To top it off the manager never visited to check on our experience. They just walked around. We only returned due to someone proving us a gift card. Should this happen again we will donate the gift card. On the Border will never be an option going forward. Terrible food and experience all the way around.

Walking in, no hostess. Waited a short time to be seated, in an almost empty restaurant. Ordered fast, got our food fast. Food was room temperature besides the fajitas of course due to the hot plate and the water the add to make it sizzle. Chicken was super dry and flavorless. Arrived 3 pm Saturday. Upon walking in waited to be seated but no staff or greeting. Gave up and went to the bar. Sat down and no greeting. Asked for a frozen house margarita. Margarita was good, no straw or lime. Ordered Birria tacos. 10 plus staff in restaurant socializing with each other and 2 other tables. Over one hour later no tacos and asked for check. Had to tell bar tender to remove tacos we never got. Had high hopes as never been here and drove 1.5 hours to try it. Staff uninterested in job and more interested in socializing with each other. After waiting at the front to be seated for 5 minutes, acknowledged and then forced to wait 5 more minutes to be shoved into a spot at the front . Our waitress wasnt attentive and didnt ask if we needed anything additional (more tortillas for the fajitas and they have us only 3) . I use to love coming to OTB here in lubbock , but experiencing this will sadly be the last time.

Awesome place the on the border in Midland Texas used to be like on the border in Lubbock but it has changed a lot they have some of the best service and great food in the workers are very polite and down-to-earth

Ordered delivery- queso came with no chips.. quesadilla that is supposed to come with pico, sour creme, and quacamoli-I asked for no pico.. what did I get- a side of pico and no sour Cream or quacamoli. I now remember why I havent eaten at an on the border in 10 years.

Just barely got seated after we stood just in side the door waiting to be seated to then be looked at by almost everyone of whom worked there other than the cooks, and then the manager came out went to talk to him and then a waitress came over and starts trying to set stuff on the table and did not wait for the manager to leave or say anything.

Decided to get something to eat for dinner at On The Border slide and loop. We did a order pickup. Well, if you love tv dinners and like that you spent 40.00 dollars for them. Bless you Im not a hater. Ill say that you can get two tv dinners for like 6.50 each plus tax. And they are decent. As for us going back for two 2 dinners that ran us 40.00 . No way!! Ill go to market street get it. There on frozen foods and take about the same time as they did to unpack and schoot on their lol. Guys, dont have a cow if you go there and order curbside get home and (well) the rest will be exactly what I said. Just checking out this place and its like we were scammed but ,instead prayers over it and asked God to forgive those for their evil and bless this food for ,Gods blessings come back youre way and eat what you have for the day. I have 4 kids work/ wife works. We do shift change because we cant afford day care and arent on assistance from government. So on days that we can afford a little something we buy out too eat. Gods good and just letting people who have kids and want a good dinner not to feel like us. Go somewhere else just heads up on it. Bless you. Guys I decided to edit this before I go. I looked at the reviews and the first 4 you can see are good. Trying to figure out how to put it with out being finger pointing. ( Cant) so Im guessing they are fake. This place has gone downhill. I really dont know what else to say. Chicken fajita salads were lackluster and not good at all. Dry chicken. Weird lettuce. No vinegrette available. Good customer service, but the food is lousy now. We wont be back.

Bar tender didnt ask if I wanted top shelf for my drink and gave me Mccormick liquor, also sit at the bar. Myself and the lady sitting next to me order the exact same thing. Only her chickens were twice as big as mine. Other than this, it was ok.

Stood at counter about 5 minutes before anyone came Told her that there would be 8 people. Waitress told us to wait a minute, dont know what for, but we saw her go to kitchen, so another waiter asked how many, we told him we already spoke to someone but they hadnt come back. We waited another 10 minutes and no one came back up to the counter to seat us. There was only about 3 or 5 people in the restaurant eating at the time. So either waitress could not handle party of 8 or the restaurant couldnt Needless to say i wont go there again

I recently used an OTB gift card. It was one of the poorest dining experiences I have had in a long time. I ordered the Monday special Endless Enchiladas which I suppose means all that you can eat but was more like all that you can stomach. The worst I have had in forever. Beans were soggy and the rice was dry. I can only assume that the good reviews were posted by employees. I wont return.

The service was terrible and the food was bland and cold. When we arrived, we waited 10 minutes to be spoken to and once we got seated, another 15 minutes went by before we were acknowledged. We waited 45 minutes for our food and once we got it, it was bland and cold. When I talked to the manager about it she was extremely rude and dismissive. She told us they re short staffed which is understandable but they could have provided better customer service and they should have let us know they were short staffed. Very disappointed!

Our party of seven ate there last night, and now three of us are sick. My husband & I ordered chicken enchiladas, and both of us had very large pieces of tough, dry chicken in them, (unable to chew it was so tough.). We didn t realize both of ours was bad until I mentioned it later at home. My son-in-law was sick with cramping diarrhea by the time he got home. He didn t mention it at the time, but he was unable to eat his food, because after a couple of bites, he realized his chicken was not fully cooked. My daughter & I have been having stomach cramps since we ate there. Kind of sad we paid $136+ to get sick. Don t think any of us will be going there again; it used to be one of our favorite places.

Not going to be coming to the Lubbock on the border anymore. Ordered online and came to pick up, was ignored for 10 mins then told my food was almost done, but turns out it was with the host the whole time. I did not take it because it was cold and then then make me a new order wrong. Spent about 30 minutes just waiting, should have just went in and ordered.
