A very lovely and quaint theater. There really isnt a bad seat in the house. What a special venue. Great acoustics and the snacks and drinks are a very reasonable price. Clearly, management wants its patrons to enjoy themselves. We will be returning time and time again to enjoy the diverse offerings. Thank you for keeping things so pleasurable and I must say it is also a very clean establishment. A joy!

Truly awesome line up for this year. The Big Bad Voodoo Daddy swing band was an unbelievable landing for the Cactus Theater. The Eagles cover band is coming this summer. Theres a lot more - go get their schedule and get your tickets as soon as possible as they were a full house the last time I was there. Really great staff, smart management, passionate crew...well see you all soon! Thanks so much for what you guys are doing!

The Cactus Theatre is a delightful performance venue located in Lubbock s depot District. The theatre dates to 1939, when it showed movies and had 720 seats. It survived until 1958, when competition from numerous other theatres in town, not to mention drive-in theatres that leveraged the nascent car culture, proved to be too much for the Cactus. According to their website, the theatre featured a washed-air cooling system, which we would call air conditioning today. The marque had 750 feet of neon on it. After its closing, the building was stripped inside and out, leaving behind a shell of it former glory. It thus sat empty for many years, until a local businessman and investors bought it in 1993 with plans to bring it back to life. It reopened in 1995 as a concert venue, which it is to this day. The renovation included installing more modern seats (code for wider and more comfortable), reducing seating capacity to 400. I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmie Dale Gilmore (of Flatlanders fame) and West Texas Exiles there on 29th March 2024. It was a great show. The acoustics were spot-on perfect; there s not a bad seat in the house. It is a great venue for smaller crowds who seek an intimate experience in the performing arts. I ll be back.

The show was absolutely fantastic. My first visit to this theater. Was big enough for a good crowd yet small enough to see the show from anywhere you sit. Well as long as youre not short & a tall couple, one of them sporting a rather high hairstyle doesnt sit in front of you youll be able to see great. Popcorn was delicious & Im normally not a fan of the stuff. Staff friendly. The people there to see the show were a very friendly bunch. Something you dont see in larger venues these days so that made it even better. The only thing I had to say negative was it was extremely hot up in the back of the balcony. Could have used more cool air and maybe just a little more sound up there. Seemed like the sound was directed more towards the floor crowd than the top back area. Other than that it was a great experience and cant wait to go back to another show. This time I will have to try the floor seats or box area. Depending on availability and price. It was about $200. for a party of 3 including tickets @ around $50 each, 4 beers, 1 water, large tub of popcorn, 1 box of junior mints.. but the time we had was Priceless. Have to get tickets early for the better seats. Hopefully cooler than back of the balcony. Bring as little as possible with you.. smaller purses, light jacket or thin coat as seating is elbow to elbow close. You dont want to become the coat rack for your group..and please think of those sitting behind you when choosing your hairstyles or hat so everyone is able to see the show together. Be ready for a fun, friendly evening at any show you choose to attend.

I had my first visit to the Cactus theater last night to see the blues powerhouse that is Carolyn Wonderland. Great gig and great little venue. Ive only been living in Lubbock for a short time but had heard great things about the Cactus. It lived up to the hype. The things I particularly liked about the Cactus is the place has so much character, the staff are friendly, the concession shop has alcoholic drinks which include wine, margaritas and some decent beer ( thanks for carrying Deep Eddy IPA). I also liked the easy parking in the lot out back. Will definitely be back soon after discovering this little treasure.

A friend and I were driving downtown, and we stopped to read the marquee outside of CACTUS THEATRE, and there was a man who was updating the marquee that came closer to the car and we began chatting, and then he introduced himself as Darrell, the owner of the CACTUS along with his wife, Stephanie. He invited us inside of the theater and gave us the grand tour! It is beautiful, complete with custom granite counter tops at the concession area, and custom woodwork. And it wouldnt be complete if there werent some CACTUS! We toured the theater, which is all state of the art equipment, surround sound, and all of the bells and whistles that guarantee you an experience much bigger than just going to the theater! There is not a bad seat in the house! They do have box seats that include your concessions and offer ADA seating for those who need it with a back entrance, making it easy to enter without going into the lobby but who wants to miss the popcorn and eye candy!! On 9/23, a friend and I are going there to experience Moses Snow as Elvis King of Rock n Roll w/ Fabulous Blackwood.

The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room for me (Im 61). They serve adult beverages, sodas, and have some snacks (popcorn, candy..etc). The ticket prices are $25 to $35 dollars, depending on where you want to sit. Next time, we will try the $35 dollar ticket seats and see how those are. The wife and I will be going back for sure to catch some more musicians.

This place is a gem. Not a bad seat in the house. Wonderful acoustics and world class artists in an intimate setting. The Cactus Theatre is housed in a 1930 s era building nestled in a charming part of downtown Lubbock with brick streets and surrounded by nice restaurants, shops and bars. Ample parking is available.

The shows are very good and the owners continue to make updates and improvements inside. It is obvious that the Cactus Theater is a project of Passion. Well worth the time and money just to get out for the night.
