This my second time at J & M, first time I came and had the jalapeño sausage sandwich plate. it cams with two sides, I chose fries and beans. This time I got the German sausage sandwich plate with the same sides. Food was cooked consistently flawless and easy on the eyes. The atmosphere is that of a movie scene or a music video. Imma keep coming bk and turning my friends and family on to this little spot hidden between Indiana and Quaker on 34th street. Staff is friendly, affordable menu, no complaints. We were given the wrong address to pick up food for a wedding. This is the location it took us to. Even though we were in the wrong location they were willing to take our order and get us food made before the wedding and deliver. We ended. That is Amazing customer service! It also smelled Amazing! In town for business, stopped by to get some BBQ on my way to the hotel. Todd; who seemed like he might be the owner; was very friendly. Good food, had the brisket, German sausage and a few ribs. Fall off the bone ribs, and very tender brisket. I will definitely be making this a standard place for me when Im in town. I recommend.

Ordered some baby back ribs, sliced brisket and sides. Coming thru the doors you can smell the smokey smell of bbq. Meats were very tender. Good tasted. Tried regular and spicy bbq sauce. They were both good but I preferred the taste. There was no wait for being after church on sunday. Refills kept coming. Staff was very very welcoming and nice. Kid-friendliness: Have high chairs, colors for kids, food like fries and grilled cheese that kids love.

My wife and I want to J&M last evening after about 2 years to try again. I ordered the sliced brisket dinner which was very good. HOW EVER .. the menu had to add ribs for $2.00, so I took it. When we got the bill, NONE of the prices on the bill matched that which was posted on the menu. In fact, I was charged $7.50 for the $2.00 ribs. When the waitress was notified, her excuse was the the prices listed on the menu were not updated to the current pricing in the cash register program. If this is not illegal, it should be. I paid the incorrect bill, and will NEVER return to this restaurant again. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Yall tried to rip me off. I ordered $40 and tipped a to go order. For one I had to ask the cashier how she was doing today. Very unexceptable considering she has a customer service job. I ordered and she says thats it right. As if your business is broke. You cant even afford to provide food for what I purchased. When I went to pick up my order more then half of my order was not inside my bag. And this male made a comment did she pay already while eating on the job. Yuck. So unsanitary. Good tasty food. Its a bit on the pricey side for the food, but BBQ is always on the more expensive side. I asked if their regular sausage was spicy. I was told no. It was. That was a shame because spicy food is not my favorite, and I would have chosen something else. Pretty decent meal overall. Dont order either type of sausage if you dont like spicy food. Skip the cobbler as well. It wasnt good at all. My total bill was $28 (rounded up).

I d like to start by saying I m not from Lubbock so trying to find a bbq place on a Monday was almost impossible for some reason lol. But thankfully we were able to find this place! Their food is super yummy and pretty reasonable as well. I personally loved the pork ribs and the brisket the most. Staff is super sweet and are always there to serve. The environment is super friendly as well and the food came very fast which was nice as there wasn t a long wait at all. Overall great place!

My combo was missing french fries She forgot to add my fries to combo and blatantly accused me of lying that I did not order French fries with my side. When after I repeated my order twice. She must have ear wax of decades. Because i gave my order repeated i wanted fries... twice]!! Because she huhhhh. Someone please let owner know that the fat rude blonde is very unprofessional and this is so weird that she would argue with me instead of saying sorry maam I did not hear. But I have to charge... Or could have even apologized period. But instead accuses me of trying to get something free. So I just went acvery very ross the street and bought a 5.00 large fries from kcf. Been trying lubbock bbq spots outside of Rudys. Decided on J&M today Mil suggested. We both got the frito pie topped with brisket. Anytime I order a stuffed potato or frito pie from a bbq joint I worry about stale chips or cold potatoes. Im not sure anyone likes stale fritos I especially do not. Nevertheless I gave it a go and the chips were stale not surprised really. Seems like bbq places would figure this out. Stale fritos will destroy what could be a bomb bbq frito pie.The brisket and bean topping was good just had to get passed the stale chips. Portion vs 10.00 price was pretty good. Also got a side of okra for 2.50 very small portion for the price that small should probable be 1.50. The spicy bbq sauce lacked spice. Service was good our waitress had to make a food delivery while taking care of us but the coke machine is located where you could get your own refill so that worked out. The other waitress there was sick and coughing all over the place that grossed us out a little. Probably end up sick as she was the one that brought our food. That sucked. Other than that not grossly disappointed but probably wont be rushing back anytime soon.

I went to order some food in person and the beautiful people working all greeted me and really took the time to converse with me while I was waiting for my order, which they always do. I told them I only slept 4 or 5 hours last night and then one of the employees named Vincent asked me what my name was. After I told him, he told me he was going to pray for me and then began quoting scripture (Isaiah 54:17 I believe). These people CARE. They love on their customers and with the biggest smiles on their faces too. I feel welcome every single time I step foot in there, and today I felt seen. It made my day! The food here is awesome, but these people are what make it amazing. Go support them, you wont be disappointed!

Food was stomped down delicious!! I ve had a peach cobbler itch for the past few months. I ordered peach cobbler at several restaurants and it only made the itch worse but this peach cobbler hit the SPOT!!! Perfect! Dont believe the hype. This place is just a sad joke compared to others in the area. Absolutely dry, crumbly garbage with zero fat content in the moist brisket. Their fix for the dryness is to use the same crumbly brisket, add some water to it and steam it in a pan. Sorry J&M but you fail miserably at BBQ. Will NOT be back. First time going to this establishment. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Ordered a one meat combo -- brisket with two sides - mac-n-cheese and fries. Numerous BBQ places have good meat and marginal sides (or vice versa). Its rare when both the BBQ and the sides are top notch. This place makes great meat and sides. Brisket was moist and lean. Flavor was spot on. Had spicy BBQ sauce. It was very good. In todays world of escalating prices, their prices were very reasonable. A good value and good product. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic! So good! Idk how I havent been in this location before, but it is amazing! I got Pork Ribs (thicc boys lol), Jalapeno Sausage, baked beans, corn & spicy sauce. That sauce!? I need more of that in my life! Service was outstanding also!! Btw the ribs are covering the Jalapeno Sausage!

Got the chopped brisket sandwich and it was delicious. Great flavor and some good chunks of beef in it to give it good bite. I got the spicy BBQ sauce with it and it was really good, a little sweet with some kick at the end. Will def go back, when Im in Lubbock again and work my way through more of the menu. Staff was very friendly. Thanks!

I have ordered carry out several times and the food was delicious. It is a local business as opposed to a chain, and I appreciate that and am happy to support this local business. I have tried the other location, but prefer the atmosphere and service at the location on 34th!! The price of their food is a bonus. It s very economical and yummy!!!!

Visiting from central TX I was looking for a good example of Lubbock que. J&M was definitely a hit for me. The brisket was cooked just right and just the right amount of fat. The sauce was good but not needed, I just wish it was a little spicier, the spicy option did not do much for my hill country pallette. Worth a trip if youre visiting!

Great prices, but you get what you pay for. I got ribs and brisket, and they were both incredibly dry and lacking in flavor. The ribs were actually tough. Im willing to consider that I went at dinnertime, and maybe by the end of the day, the meats have been kept warm too long, but it was a pretty big disappointment. Service was good and friendly, and dessert was good - get the cobbler, and ask for half cherry, half peach! The other thing that stood out was that they dont have music. It felt like we were there after hours or something, and it was hard to not hear every conversation going on around us. Probably wont be back.

I stopped here as I was passing through. Super friendly staff! The mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as the Mac and cheese were both homemade and delicious. The brisket was perfect, and their sauce is great. Well worth the stop if youre in the area.

Ordered through Grubhub, but the restaurant delivers the food instead of grubhub. The delivery driver never dropped off the food, called the restaurant and the person who I talked with over the phone personally came and dropped off another order. Bravo, wish I would have gotten her name. I appreciate the extra effort for customer service here. Will order again.
