The food was amazing, the spices reminded me of traditional Indian cooking, the servers were kind and very enjoyable to talk to. All in all, an amazing place to visit, be warned however, the spice levels are serious, if you cant handle a jalapeno stay with the first couple levels of spice. Also, puff puffs are well worth buying an additional order. Edit: Near a year later, my family visited again, the puff puffs keepus asking for more, the rice has a nice mix of flavors, and the service makes us smile. I do feel bad about ordering three orders of puff puffs, but when they come 6 for $3, i just cant stop.

UPDATE: Ashley was playing games on the phone Saturday night. I ordered on DoorDash this last time and it seems they purposely interchanged my requested order for what they wanted me to have. Then she called me twice begging to remake after i told them i was calling my bank to reverse my payment. I trashed the food because something has changed. I have visited this place pretty much every week the past year and now they want to play with my food. I dont play about my kids, my money and my food. It was the young lady with the short cut hair calling unless there was another female on the schedule. Well it was a wonderful year up to now but I guess it was good while it lasted. I can NEVER seem to catch the goat and okra soup on the menu at the same time. Im here for trying every chance I get tho.

Ate here 8/2 and had the Taste of Africa medium spicy with chicken. Juicy meat that came off the bone (entire drum and thigh) served alongside a filling spicy rice with a tomato base and a side of plantains. Medium spiciness had a lot of flavor to it and a slight kick. I sampled my friends rice who got his rice in the Africa rating spiciness and it definitely had much more kick with a slow burn afterwards. Service was really good and drinks were kept topped. The waitress was also very forthcoming with her opinion on the dishes and gave good advice. Very open and inviting environment/layout. I very much enjoyed my first outing here.

Came here for takeout while passing through the town and so glad we came across this place. I wish we had the opportunity to sit down and eat in because this place had a great vibe to it and was very welcoming! The food was incredible and had us wishing we ordered more! We got the Fried African Delight and Taste of Africa and also the meat pies. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the rice was so flavorful. Both of our meals were devoured within minutes. We ve been roadtripping from Washington and so far this place is one of the best we have eaten from throughout our trip! Definitely recommend stopping by and grabbing some amazing food or even takeout!

Very good food, good price, very good service, and a cool atmosphere. Ive eaten a few times here with my family and the only sour notes were a cold fufu and a goat meat dish that was mostly fat and gristle but still tastefully seasoned. UPDATE: thank you for your response, please note that these were two minor issues in an otherwise excellent meal!

I ate here for the first time a couple of days ago, and when I say that the food has flavor, it makes me wish I could eat there at least twice a week! I purchased the Sea Pride with a side of Jollof rice (Spiciness: Medium), and when I say that the presentation was straight out of a magazine, I didn t even want to eat my meal because it looked so beautiful. You can tell the fish was prepared with love and a little kick. The plantains were very soft and lightly sweetened. And the Jollof rice brought the meal full circle with its bold seasonings and the perfect spice level. I look forward to trying this dish again in the couple of weeks because the fish was just unbelievably delicious! Dietary restrictions: They have plenty of gluten free options which was great because I have a sensitivity to gluten.

Great atmosphere and the food even better! Had the meat pie, braised goat(Saturday specials) and the jollof rice. If you are a spice head, I dare you to try their African spicey level, all others, stay clear away from that level, youve been warned. 10/10 will be back.

Scotch egg seemed old and some of the meat was pink. The flavor was good, but the egg was overcooked for my liking. The cole slaw was the prominent flavor on the swarma, so I didnt get much of the chicken and the spices. The spices and flavor of the swarma was on point, it just wasnt dominant. I ordered the kids tomato stew and it was actually very good. The jasmine rice was perfectly cooked and the chicken was tender and well cooked. The tomato stew had a good flavor, but no heat. It was a kids plate, so that may be expected. It was a doordash pickup order and I went to pick it up and the woman acted like I was trying to steal food and was not hospitable. The tomato stew was well cooked and comforting, but Im not sure if Ill be back.

We had dinner here around 6:00 on 4/18. We were warmly welcomed and told to sit wherever we wanted. Our server was very kind and did a great job taking care of us during our visit. I started with a nice cold beer. The Mutzig was crisp and refreshing. I highly recommend it. The 33 Export was yummy as well. We got a chicken pie and a scotch egg for our appetizers. They were both so good with spices and seasonings that we were not familiar with at all. You just have to try them. Then for our main course, we got the Taste of Africa and the Savannah Seapride. The chicken was beautifully cooked with more fantastic unfamiliar flavors. The rice was delicious with a red sauce that was bold and rich in flavor. My fish was delicious and full of more wonderful flavors, but if you ve never eaten a whole fish before, please be very careful to avoid the very small bones throughout. The coleslaw was unlike any coleslaw I ve ever experienced. It had a wonderful, almost fruity flavor. And the plantains were tender and delightful. Then we had Nana s cake for dessert. It was amazing. If you like banana bread, then you will love this dessert. Soft moist banana cake topped with creamy ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Yum! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a good time!

I d been craving scotch eggs like heck. Usually I d find them at a Brit type of pub, but here in Lubbock, you ll find the most amazing of them at Vizo s!! Husband & I dined in house on Valentine s Day and loved everything thoroughly. The regular menu ranges from spicy hot to spicy flavorful. I m keen on the latter, while husband is all about the former. Unfortunately that day, apple decided that my 13 mini deserved extra obsolescence, and was straight dead. Hence no pictures. BUT we ordered delivery from them this evening, and as shown, those scotch eggs are legit! Likewise, we went to town and made sure that Vizo s will be our main meals at home for easily the next day or so! Obviously, highly recommended. Soooo satisfying, and also incredible value! If dining in, must also try the hibiscus drink!!!

First time trying this place/African food in general and left completely blow away at how great everything we ordered was. The 33 Import beer from Cameroon was nice, the schwarma was a fantastic appetizer, roast chicken with friend rice was insanely flavorful and perfectly cooked, the fried plantains were perfectly crispy, and lastly the stewed beef with white rice had the most flavorful and rich broth Ive ever had. The service staff was polite, attentive, and timely. Lastly, the prices are great compared to the quality of ingredients, seasoning, and portion sizes you receive here. This level of gastronomic ecstasy is hard to find outside of Dallas and other bigger cities. Simply put, this is the level of good food where you have to put your fork down mid-meal and simply process just how great the food really is.

We went on a Friday for early dinner and the place was not packed, service was fast and staff were pleasant. Our server Paa gave recommendations as it was our first time to try African food. He was very polite and attentive. We started with drinks. The Piña Colada was good. I tried the scotch egg and my friend had a fish pie which were both with bold flavors and in a good way. We ordered two entrees the Taste of Africa with chicken and Fried African delight. My friend and I both loved the chicken and rice in African delight though both dishes were good. Serving was generous as each plate would be good for two. We loved the fried plantains which came as a side; they were ripened just right and cooked well without being too oily. We ordered shawarma for to go but didn t get to taste it as my son devoured it The flavors in their food was delightful to the tastebuds and refreshing from the usual food we eat day-to-day. Recommending to friends and will come back again. I am happy we have this restaurant in Lubbock because we need more diversity in our culinary scene here.

Most places in town, which are listed as restaurant/bar will continue to serve alcohol, but not food. The food was delicious! I ordered the Suya, Plantaines, Fish pies and puff puffs. The restaurant also has a small dance floor area...so of course my friends and I were on it! Its one of the few places weve found with good food after 10P which is non-smoking, not expensive and doesnt put emphasis on drinking. I would highly recommend checking out this hole in the wall!

Yvonne was a great surver. The appetizers are great. The egosu soup was horrible and so was the red beef stew. The smell of horses was overwhelming. If you nevef had it do not order it, its very strong in smell and taste. The fufu tasted good. I rather pair it with different foods. To be honest this place is super simple nothing exciting. Very very diffrent I wont be coming back.

This is one of my #1 recommendations to other people all the time. The food is always amazing, but the service is on point each and every time. The place has a wonderful atmosphere, it s open, and makes you want to come back over and over. We have tried many things off the menu and each dish has been fantastic.

This is the best place in town to eat African food and also get a taste of the African culture. The friendliness of the place makes the food digest with ease. We at Briefify love Vizos Kid-friendliness: Seats are low enough and baby seats are available as well.

When you first walk in, the restaurant is very inviting and cozy. Staff are super friendly and very helpful on recommendations with the menu. Prices are definitely right for the amount of portions they give you on your plate. This restaurant uses bold flavors that will awaken your taste buds. It was a really pleasant experience and we will be back again! We ordered Suya grilled beef (fiery) as our appetizer which was super hot but very good! Taste of Africa with chicken and Red with a twist (chicken) as our main entree. You can choose the level of spice for your entree and we decided on medium which was a little less intense than the fiery appetizer. All were very good and filling!

The staff was very friendly although not very attentive. Drinks never got refilled and we waited a long time for our cards back after paying. I got the taste of Africa and the chicken was very dry. The rice was amazing though. My friend got one of the soups that comes with the fufu and neither of us could eat it but I think that was just because we are not used to that type of flavors. The fufu was very good. My friend ordered the ribs after and they were also good. We got the banana bread dessert with ice-cream and that was the favorite part of the experience.
