The center was closed when we passed by and would not open for another four hours. But we were able to take a few photos and look about the outside. On the historical plaque outside it mentioned his real name was Holley but was misspelled on the record contract.

Went to see Von Tez in the open courtyard. At first we were kinda weary about the heat, but when we got there they had water misters going and it was quite nice. All the seating was taken close to them so we sat far but we still were able to feel comfortable in the shade. They had a pop up bar there with no non alcoholic drinks but the gift shop was open that did have drinks. They were not ridiculously priced just very limited variety. Plus they had sugar free non carbonated lemonade.

If youre a Buddy Holly, this is a must. There is a statue across the road from the museum, a building with wall art dedicated to Buddy. You get a tour around a small house belonging to one of Buddys friends, who was one of the crickets, and they wrote a few of their songs there. The museum itself is definitely worth a visit, lots of information to read, pictures, and items to look at. A few minutes drive away is the cemetery where Buddy and his family are buried, nothing fancy, its quite a humble grave. If youre doing a tour along the 66 I would definitely recommend a stop of for a couple of hours

Really great experience. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and the exhibits are fantastic. As a musician I learned some really cool, innovative things Buddy did in his recording. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, and really cheap. Make sure to pick up one of the pieces of paper that notes points of interest around town to check out some other places Buddy related nearby.

This is a neat little place to see some of Lubbocks history. There are two exhibits and a gift shop here. One exhibit is ever-changing with New art displays from various people. This exhibit is usually free. The other exhibit is all of the Buddy Holly memorabilia. There is a charge to enter this exhibit. There is a huge replica of Buddy Hollys famous glasses outside the center. This is a great photo opportunity. If you come on Saturdays from 10-1 (June-October) there is a farmers market with in walking distance.

I have visited the buddy holly museum for the last four years. Exquisite. A true homage to a true founder of rock n roll. Small & intimate a place to soak in the brief life of this legend ( not 26 like another reviewer stated but 22 when he died- the day music died). So influential to almost the whole genre of rock artists. I plan to drop by again in May.

Buddy Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas. The city has embraced the story of his short life...killed in a plane crash at the age of 26. The charming center walks you through his life. However, importantly it does a terrific job of showing his influence on musicians such as the Beatles, Bob Dyland and even opened for Elvis. The grounds are beautiful.

We went to see Shien Yun at Buddy Holly. It was amazing. Clear bag policy is in effect. We have been to events here the only thing they did not have this time was valet service. Which I was very disappointed in them. My husband is handicapped and can not walk long distances and the valet service sure helps him not having to walk great distances. I noticed other patrons pulling up as well expecting the service and having to park far of with their loved one. That is the only reason for the 3 stars.

Young and old alike will be whisked back to the days of Buddy Holly and enveloped with the heart touching story of this young superstars intrinsic life and all it entailed as well as the untimely and tragic death of him and his fellow musicians who were equally as talented. You get to see the iconic globally recognized black glasses as well as some surprising other artifacts that are little known but youll appreciate if youre a BH fan I highly recommend going, you cant say youre a fan of you dont!

I visited the center while visiting my son at Texas Tech, and I was so glad I did! The price was right ($10 - you cant get anything for $10 now), and there was more than enough to see, and I didnt feel overwhelmed by there being too much. In addition, with no extra cost, I was on the tour that got to see Jerry Allisons house right next door (Buddy Hollys bandmate). This was a fun and unique place to see, and I would highly recommend it. I am very confused by the negative reviews.

A well-made small focused museum devoted to the life and music of Buddy Holly. The bulk of the museum proper is items from Buddys life, including several guitars and the glasses that gave him his trademark look. Additionally there is an art gallery space currently featuring several signed album covers from various rock and roll bands. The biggest draw to the Buddy Holly center is Buddys Lubbock home preserved right beside the center with several guided tours everyday.
