The Aquarium was soooo much fun. You get to go inside and interact with the animals. The staff are nice and explain everything to you. They also have a bouncy house room with games and a ball pit. Its a pretty big place. Will recommend to anyone to visit. My daughter held a snake, which she absolutely loved.

If I could give zero stars I would! I am beyond belief that this place still has visitors. If I were a kid who didnt know any better I would think this was a cool place. You get to touch and experience animals that you normally dont get to interact with. But the state of this aquarium and the care for the animals is awful. Most animals were in enclosures that did not seem adequate for a living habitat. The amount of touching and interaction that a lot of these animals had with so many children seems too much, and most of the animals seemed stressed. Some of the animal enclosures didnt even have an actual enclosure they were just an open space for kids to wander through and touch them. Some enclosures you would have to give tokens for and we felt like the tokens were very overpriced on top of admission. Our family got to experience the bird enclosure and the penguin enclosure and both times felt like they were not handled very well. The employees did not seem engaged, most of them were on their phone or absent. After leaving, my husband and I felt very weird about some of the things we observed there and did some research on this company. They have had in the past many investigations for smuggling, neglect, and abuse of animals. We will never go again. And we will never recommend anybody to go. Just dont! There are way better family attractions that are far more ethical.

Honestly a little depressing. Maybe it s my heart for the animals but seeing some of them and how they were being kept was sad. The penguins were literally standing all in a corner together with no room to go anywhere, fans barely blowing in their area, not sure what that was about just kinda sad. I guess if you have kids the stingray thing was cool and all but still not large enough for these guys. Please consider a bigger facility

We came with family for a fun family activity. We have been here before and knew not to expect a Monterey Bay Aquarium, or Mote Aquarium experience, but the upgrades that have been made here were very nice and welcome. We started out the the experience with getting to interact with Jason at the front desk. What a delightful and professional person. He was knowledgeable, considerate, and helpful. He set a high bar for the rest of the visit. As we came to the first area there was an activity center where you can experience fish nibbling on your feet/hands. The staff member, Justin, was going to lunch but when he saw that we were interested he insisted on staying and helping us to have a wonderful experience. He helped one of our party who was unsure about doing the activity to not be scared with no pressure, only information. His customer engagement was another delightful step up and kept the positive experiences happening. We moved on to the ever fun feed the rays experience. The food was no longer available in the coin operated machines so we went to the Iguana Bounce House register and bought fresh fish rather than the old pellets. That is where we got to engage with Antonio. Antonio was a compassionate, mindful, and helped each person. He was great to work with and helped the children feel comfortable with their excitement all while ensuring they minded the sock rule. :) I do wish we had the option to have branded socks to purchase, but appreciated having any socks to purchase. The penguin area was sad and a disappointment. Hopefully the advertised upgrade will happen soon. I was impressed with the staff member who was with the kangaroos and capybara who ensured that no one approached the animals and that the animals were the ones who were to do the approaching. He did so in a way that helped the kids feel special and respect their environment. All in all this was a fun and relaxed activity with plenty of opportunities for physical activity and learning engagement. The membership option made it easy to come back and save on multiple levels.

It s a fun, small, interactive aquarium but everything such as feeding and seeing animals cost tokens which are expensive (10 tokens was $27) They also charge a 3.8% fee on every credit card purchase. The military discount was $5 but they still charge additional $3.00 per admission so technically it s only a $2.00 discount and they only offer it for ONE entry not for family members. So it is a cute little aquarium but VERY overpriced for what s offered.

This was by far the WORST aquarium I ve ever been to. There were no staff members around the entire aquarium and treatment of the animals were up to the discretion of the parents as almost every exhibit allowed interaction with the animals. We were also surprised to see that there were no information signs or even signs labeling what animals we were looking at. There was a random bounce house area and arcade area which made no sense for an aquarium. The animals looked very sad and it was disturbing. The tanks were so small and overcrowded for the amount of large fish they had in them. Overall, this place was more depressing and disappointing than anything I ve ever seen. For a large city such as San Antonio, one would think their aquarium would be nice and animal friendly.

It s always fun to see animals and don t get me wrong I know it has to be expensive to take care of them but this place is way over priced.cashier was rude when I asked why the price we were asked to pay didn t match the prices on their board, finally pointed to a small sign near the card reader that said we would be charged three extra dollars per head. Most of the animal enclosures are subpar to say the least. The kangaroos are miserable and the penguins look down right sick and hot laying in their poop.

This is not a real aquarium. There are small sharks, some turtles, sting rays, koi fish and a small tank with jelly fish. That is it for water animals. There are more birds and farm animals than water animals. So if you re looking for an aquarium experience I would not come here, specially not for the price.

My oldest son is an avid animal lover and we come here often from South Texas. The admission alone runs me about $150 for my family and myself, so I believe the I-guana Jump attraction should automatically be included in the admissions price, or the animal interactions. The entire visit runs you up about $300 if you want to make the trip worthwhile. Way too pricey for such a small experience.

HORRIBLE!!!!! The Animals look absolutely miserable, one of the penguins was missing feathers and most of the animals seemed insanely depressed!!! There was a Lemur which looked absolutely restless. He just kept doing the same repetitive movements over and over again running back and forth and then jumping on a little pole stand thingy and he would just like freak out. One of the kangaroos looked very ill, and was limping. there were TWO animals missing an eye. A Lemur, and a kangaroo. The penguins and multiple other animal exhibits were covered in feces. Like they were just walking all over it. The black silky chicken appears to have had his vocal chords removed. I watched many times when he opened his mouth to squawk and NOTHING came out. The other animals in the exhibit with him looked incredibly depressed. Absolutely deplorable treatment of animals. I dont understand how it has such positive ratings when they treat their animals so horrifically. NEVER COMING BACK!

Not an aquarium by an means, of which there are some fish tanks. The staff was nice, but this place is really just an abysmal petting zoo with arcade areas mixed in. Enclosures look WAY too small for most of the animals, you can feed them if you want (which makes me concerned about their overall diet), and its just not what I was hoping to see.

The people taking care of the animals are great. You can tell they care about the animals and like to see happy kids. Hats off to them and hope they realize their dreams involving care of animals. Unfortunately, this place is all about churning up money and fairly gross. The added cost to experience versus watch the exhibits are a quick money suck ($2 for two cut pieces of anchovy to feed rays). You have to walk through a very bright arcade room with lights and sounds to go from the front to back areas. Theres a random bounce house off the rays and sharks area. Gift shop has non-specific random cheap toys. The rays exhibit is cool for the kids but might be hard to keep them from wondering in to the extra cost bounce house area. Its like Walmart mated with a travelling carnival and birthed a zoo .

I recently visited this so-called aquarium, and I am absolutely horrified by the conditions here. This place is a TERRIBLE environment for animals. The animals looked completely neglected, with obvious signs of poor care and distress. Their enclosures are shockingly small, most no larger than a typical bedroom, giving these creatures barely any room to move or express natural behaviors. To make matters worse, this is NOT a city zoo, despite what the name might suggest. Dont be fooled! This establishment is privately owned by individuals who are only interested in making money, with no regard for the well-being of the animals they claim to care for. This place is nothing but a cash grab and a blatant abuse of animals. It should be shut down immediately, and these animals deserve to be in a proper sanctuary where they can live in humane conditions. Do not support this business. The authorities need to intervene before more harm is done.

2024-August. There were lots of parking spaces on the side or at the back of the building. We got free tickets to this aquarium when we purchased our tickets to the Riverwalk Cruise. To have a single interaction with the animals, you have to buy tokens. Like petting the lemur will cost you 1 token. Going inside the cage (with the staff) of the lemur costs 4 tokens. Feeding the alligator is 3 tokens. The fish pedicure is 2 tokens. 10 tokens was $30. The staff was nice and friendly. Some animals are a little cramped. My child loved interacting with the animals. The restrooms were clean. There was an arcade, a mini cafeteria, and a souvenir shop inside. Hope you have a great visit.

Avoid This Unethical and Inhumane Aquarium wish I could give this aquarium zero stars, as the overall experience was completely unacceptable. From the nauseating stench of human urine in the lobby to the outrageous pricing - they charged $70 for 25 tokens - this place is solely focused on exploiting visitors. The conditions for the animals were absolutely deplorable. The alligator enclosure was far too small, the lemur exhibits crammed 6-8 animals into tiny spaces, and they even encouraged visitors to handle the lemurs - a completely unethical practice.Navigation through the facility was poorly designed, and the stingray exhibit area posed serious tripping hazards due to the uneven, dark carpeting.Perhaps the most disturbing was the penguin enclosure - a truly sad and inadequate space, despite the aquariums claim that they were working on a new one. I was also appalled to see a 23-foot snake confined to an enclosure barely 5 feet in size.I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this aquarium at all costs. Their blatant disregard for animal welfare and shameless profiteering make this a place that does not deserve any support or funding. I left feeling deeply saddened and disappointed by this horrific experience.

The fish are stuffed in small areas with turtles and hardly any room to swim in. This place is clearly not run by ethics or morals but rather just a cash grab profiting at the expense of the animals wellbeings and health. Definitely should be reported and investigated.

I would call this a cute little indoor zoo more than an aquarium. There is more land dwellers than aquatic animals, which is fine, just not what was expected. We walked through the whole aquarium in about an hour. For the price it is really not worth it. For myself, my wife, and our two kids (2yrs&3yrs) it was $85.00 after tax for the most basic walkthrough (no tokens to hold animals). Included in that number is two surcharges that equaled to $9.00, I have no idea what that s about. The kids had fun so in some way it was worth it, but with the prices the way they are, we will not be returning.

First time here and we did not expect this to be as disappointing as it was. We walked in to buy admission tickets and the ammonia and stench from all the animals hits you in the face like a ton of bricks. It smelled so bad. I immediately wanted to walk out and leave but my husband insisted we still try to make a day out of it still. The smell did eventually go away or we just got used to it, not sure. The price of admission for one adult was $25. They also sold tokens for petting/feeding the animals for an additional price. We didn t want to purchase tokens originally but the staff members really pushed for us to buy some. It was only my husband and I so we bought 5 tokens to share between us. So our total for the day was about $75, which in my opinion was absurd (and you ll see why)! As we walked around, we got to use our tokens to feed and pet some animals, which was cool! However . We were not expecting to come up on staff members in fairy costumes and mermaid costumes throughout, blasting the High School Musical soundtrack over the speakers and also witnessing staff members in fairy costumes karaoke singing to a range of songs while pacing the exhibits. We were not expecting an unsupervised stingray/shark touching and feeding station. We were not expecting to see and interact with low and open koi fish tanks with no staff members around to supervise guests. We were not expecting having to walk through an arcade, ball pit and a bouncy castle area to get to the rest of the exhibits. We were not expecting to see 2 domesticated cats being apart of an exhibit. We were not expecting seeing so many empty tanks or seeing exhibits that were too small to house the animals within while they waited for an exhibit upgrade. We were not expecting to see so many exhibits with no signs or information regarding the animals that were placed in there. We were not expecting having to deal with clueless and rude staff members, but sadly we did encounter a few. There were apparently shows with posted times but when we asked a staff member where the shows were located so we could watch it, one staff member said oh. I don t know. I didn t know we had shows here . And another staff member shrugged his shoulders and said he was new. No announcement or nothing to guide you to the shows . How disappointing! We were not expecting to walk through the whole aquarium and hardly saw any information about any of the animals within, or any information in general about marine life, mammal life, plant life, etc.. And we were definitely not expecting to get done with the whole aquarium in 1 hour from start to finish. And that was with us stopping multiple times along the way to interact with some animals. So in our opinion was it worth the $75 we spent to get in? No. Absolutely not. Save your money and go elsewhere. Was it fun to interact with the animals? Yes. But again, not for the amount you pay for. I wouldn t waste your time or money here

This place should be shut down. Animals are cramped and sitting I their own feces. Workers are super young and probably have little to no training. The only places they seem to care about are the enclosures that require token payment. Kids were shoving hay into the tortoises mouth, picking them up, and parents were not caring about them running around in havoc. There were no workers to monitor open pen animals. Alpacas are in a small pen with mats and an old metal shed. Waters are murky, dirty, and the whole place smells disgusting. Not even in the way of theres water animals smell. Like an old we dont clean smell. Penguins are in a 6x8 enclosure they look miserable. Kangaroos wont even get up. They look like they have foot problems. They however have a HUGE indoor jumping castle area fir small children. Of course that could be used to give the animals bigger enclosures and actually teach children about animal safety and make sure their animals live a healthier lifestyle. Theyre also building more small enclosures for God knows what. The only reason Im glad I went and spent 215$ is due to the fact that they made some money to actually feed them.

Upon entering the building it has an old fishy smell. The passes they sell dont include tokens that they sell extra for certain exhibits they have throughout. This place has smaller exhibit space for the animals than I was expecting. Some of the animals sadly looked stressed out. I really tried to not compare it to the only other aquarium that Ive been to (Monterey Bay Aquarium). Towards the end, near the exit it looks like they are trying to add extra exhibits but I really wish theyd expand some of the animal exhibits that are already there. They do have a bouncy section for kids which had a good selection for kids and seemed clean. I think the sting ray section seemed the biggest but some of the sting rays were missing their tails. They were coming to the surface a lot to which seemed a bit odd but Im not that familiar with their normal behavior. I think they have a big selection of animals and sea creatures. The staff seemed friendly and the bouncy area is nice but because the animals seemed stressed out I probably wouldnt want to go back.

Strange place. Not bad, not very good. Very dirty. A bit dingy. Some animals were super cute but others looked hungry and sad or dirty. It had just rained and we walk in and the whole place is leaking from the roof. There were some cute animals but aggressively hungry stingrays lol and dirty tanks. We walked into the cafe and immediately saw a baby roach and I walked out. Can t tell you about the food but it was not clean in the aquarium I can t imagine the kitchen. When we finished we went back to let our kids play in the bounce house and my kids take their shoes off and their socks get wet from the leaky roof. I m not a safety tech but why are there electrical units on the ground with wet flooring? Massage chairs were also on the wet flooring? I just don t understand the logic. Then a little girl comes up to me saying where s my mommy and I take her to the front so the staff can help me find the mom. Well I tell the girl at the bounce house ticket counter and she stares at me blankly then goes to converse and laugh with her coworker. Well that infuriated me. I told her look this baby can t find her mom are you going to announce anything, help her, get a manager or ?!? She tells me oh I m just telling my coworker, hang on so obviously this worker doesn t have a missing kid protocol or she s just messing around. I could not bring myself to leave this little girl with this knuckle head with no sense of urgency. Not only that she didn t even think to comfort the little girl. So I have this dummy that works at a kid place with no child interaction skills what is that?! ODD PLACE. Intriguing, but beware. Don t leave your kids unattended as I fear they will not be taken seriously if they get lost lol. For a few bucks more for each ticket I d do seaworld.

As soon as we walked in we were met with an awful smell. Just the ambiance itself was the most awful Ive experienced. I was thankful for the register staff as they helped save some money by signing up for the annual membership so we can use it as sister locations that are closer to where we live. The enclosures were WAY too small and awful to look at. These animals were sitting on concrete and tile flooring. It was so hot inside the building that Id rather be outside in the summer heat. The staff looked as if they didnt want to be here or be of help. Find somewhere else to spend your money. Its HERENDOUSLY overpriced for the experience.

The staff on the other hand, were some of the rudest people my family has ever encountered. Talk about treating adults like they are talking to a bunch of 2 year olds. Show me how we pet a lemur just using our 2 fingers. Im sorry, but can you make sure you tuck your thumb in or youre not going to be able to pet them and I wont be able to give you back your coin. Very expensive for the experience. If you want to waste your money, go here. Not worth it.

It is a great attraction for kids, especially 12 and under. However if you are an adult expecting an aquarium experience that highlights preservation of species, or something as nice as the atlanta or New Orleans aquarium, then i would look elsewhere. I certainly did not expect to find an arcade AND a bounce house area in here. when we walked in i immediately knew this wasn t was i hoping for and i saw some animals enclosures built on top of cheap tile floors. the vibe of this aquarium in general was not inviting, also included song selections from kids movies which i didn t care for as that s not my preferred ambiance. We bought our tickets online so I made the most of my paid experience and enjoyed the touch pools, koi walk, and lemur experience. Families, children, and older adults can enjoy this place, but the presentation of the aquarium itself is disheartening people like me who love marine life.

This place is a joke. Don t buy into anything anyone has written about it being good at all. You pay to get in and then they want you to pay for tokens to do things. You pay for tokens to do things which are not refundable and then you don t actually need the tokens to do everything. You then get stuck with these tokens that are now usable in the gift shop or cafe but not at the value at which you paid for them. It s all a scam. Do some research on the owners and you won t want to waste your money. Avoid this place.

What a great, interactive place for younger children. There is a wide variety of token based activities once in the facility. Interact with a mermaid, play video games, have live interactions with various animals, etc. If you are a teacher, military or first responder, dont forget your ID as you get in free! I was disappointed at the amount of actual acquatic animals in this aquarium. It felt more like a petting zoo. We spent a log of time with the stingrays who were super friendly and came up to observers to be touched and fed.

Place was interesting and disappointing at the same time. Penguin enclosure seems very small for 5 or 6 penguins to live/hangout in. Quite depressing. Octopus seems to hide most of the time and I understand. If small, annoying punk kids kept provoking me, Id be annoyed/anxious too. Bought tokens to feed the alligator but since the alligators were lethargic/not in the mood, I pretty much bought tokens for nothing. There should be designated times to feed certain animals. Tried feeding the small mammals but they were full (female employees were chilling, sitting around and feeding them snacks so they werent hungry for paying customers to feed them) not really a good experience. I quickly got bored and left that area, seems like the female employees just wanted to have the furries to themselves. Must be nice to sit in the A/C and feed the furries as if they were personal pets and get paid for it. Overall place is good for a 1 and Done visit, big enough that you get your moneys worth somewhat. And please keep your gross child goblins from throwing trash in the koi ponds. The front staff was cool but I like how (sarcasm) some of the floor staff are strict with some animals (cute/furry) but dont watch after the other less popular/less cute ones. The food court was laughable and cheap looking, I didnt bother to step in there. Gift shop was overpriced junk with dollar store quality. Im sure Temu would have better items. The 2 stars is for the very friendly rays and lovely koi fish ponds. They were the best part of the exhibit. Overall, the place is not much of an aquarium, the other negative reviews just reaffirm what I was thinking throughout my visit here. A dimly lit animal prison.

Decided to visit since it was hot and we had a toddler who loves animals. Big mistake - this place felt like it was run by a someone preoccupied with making money by any means possible while using animals as a lure. A few of the many issues: - enclosures way too small - reeks of feces upon entering - very poor lighting throughout (to obscure lack of cleanliness?) - random arcades, bouncy castle area, paid massage chairs you d find in a mall - very sad food area (do not recommend eating there) - a lot of random props / under construction / roped off areas that feel incredibly kitschy and unmaintained - a time share scam company at the exit pestering everyone who leaves to talk to them in the sweltering heat - an employee was checking the temperature of the lone boa constrictor next to the gift shop and left the door to the entirely too small enclosure completely open. A child could have easily gone in. Many more examples to pull from but overall 0/10, and very concerned for the safety and wellbeing of the animals.

The ticket price does not include tokens, which are needed to interact with or feed the animals. The amount of tokens required varies for different things but is clearly listed. Some animals you can feed for 1 token and the most expensive you can interact with for 20 tokens. You can pet the sting rays and some other animals for free. I recommend buying the tickets for cheaper on a 3rd party site. I did not know going in that this is really a petting zoo, not an aquarium. There were mostly non-aquatic animals. The animals did not seem to have a lot of room (especially the penguins).

If you want any of the experiences offered (i.e. feeding/petting) you have to pay even more. Even though I didnt buy any of the experience tokens, my receipt still included an extra charge - a $3.00 admissions surcharge even though I went on a Wednesday and payed in cash - the cashier said they are working to change the ticket price on their website, but this seems like an excuse to reel people in and rip them off. The establishment was not that exciting (yes you can feed and pet some animals but that costs tokens). You typically have to wait to pet some of the mammals, which is understandable but the frustrating part for us was being constantly told that it was just going to be a 5-minute wait but when it already has been 15 minutes we were disappointed (we ended up leaving due to our schedule). The lone penguin: All other exhibits visited at various zoos or aquariums have showcased penguins in a colony, not alone. This particular exhibit is in the far back of the aquarium near the back door that leads to other outdoor exhibits. It was swimming alone, just 1 penguin in the tiny exhibit. Left super early: After about 20 minutes of walking around, it was time to leave. It was difficult to enjoy and see how small the exhibits were for the sizes of the animals.
