While visiting Cedar Park, TX this week we chose to try Kai Sushi, based on some of the pictures we saw of their food. We got a sampler plate for starters and then ordered a variety of items to take back to our Airbnb. When enjoyed watching the owner prepare our food. He is a total perfectionist and both the food and presentation were spectacular! Looking forward to visiting this establishment again the next time we re in the area.

This is such a great place. Its BYOB, which is incredible for a restaurant like this. Dont worry, they have wine glasses! You MUST try the When Beef Met the Sea Roll. They lay kobe beef on top of the roll and then TORCH IT! That bad boy ments in your mouth and keeps giving flavors as you chew. Their bento box at lunchtime is off the charts, too. Overall, its a great spot to go to lunch by yourself or take your whole family to dinner. Also, if you show up right when they open and sit at the bar, you can see the attention to detail and respect they have for each ingredient.

This is our 3rd time me and my husband has come here. Each time is a new and exciting experience. It s very clear the chef takes pride and joy in his craft. We ordered the Kai combination for 2 and the presentation was stunning. Me and my husband agree we would recommend this restaurant for a Michelin Star and recommend this to anyone looking for a great quality place to eat. We will be back each and every time!

Kai sushi did not disappoint. We love sashimi especially and got a few pieces of unagi, fatty tuna and the Leander roll. All delicious!! We were immediately greeted and our waiter was Jenny who was amazing even though the restaurant was very busy and she was the only waitress. She was attentive and very friendly. In all honesty some of the best sushi Ive had, the fish is always very fresh and the speciality rolls are creative and delicious! Ive been to a lot of high end sushi places but this one ranks way above all the rest!! I recommend it constantly to my friends! Dietary restrictions: They work well with whatever allergy you have, my mother is allergic to soy so they make all her rolls without any of the soy based sauces and still make it delicious!

The food is great tasting, and the portions are excellent! Our server and all the other staff were so friendly. My husband and I ate here as a special night out with our two toddlers, and we all were full without spending too much. We were driving through the area on a hiking trip, and sat down 20 min before close on a Friday night. The food tasted great, was fresh, and was prepared with care. Hidden Gem This is my fav sushi restaurant in Austin and the best I really love that this place is near my house and in Leander! I dont need to go all the way down to downtown to eat amazing sushi. Lunch Special is a steal and such a good deal and the nigiri and sashimi quality is really good and was literally melting in my mouth I tried high quality sushi places in Austin and Dallas and I would say this restaurant beats all of em. Weve ordered takeout a few times now and enjoy getting sushi here. I appreciate that they label the rolls and rubber banded them to avoid falling in the bag. I got the sumo and red dragon rolls. Limited vegetarian options and price on the higher side, even for lunch (took away 1 star for higher price) Lunch special was tasty with reasonable portions especially for the bento box lunch (see pictures) but pricing still feels tad higher than it should be. The fish is extremely fresh, the rice perfectly cooked and seasoned. I was surprised by the excellent variety of seasoning on the nigiri, I was skeptical seeing it but really, its game changing. It is always a pleasurable experience with Kai Sushi. Their quality and service exceed expectations. I knew their sushi is one of the best from previous visits. The cooked rolls had both cool fish and warm exteriors on the fried rolls, and were topped with spicy, sweet, and savory sauces. Sushi was great. I had the Faith Sushi plate and all the sushi was great. Wife had tempura roll and the fire ants on a log roll. Was excellent quality and good seasoning and toppings. Wasabi was real and good edamame for starters. Little longer wait to get food but totally worth it and more time spent on date. Great service and really friendly.

Weve been in Texas two years now from California, land of sushi, and have tried several places all over Austin. Kai Sushi is definitely the best sushi weve had in Texas, period. Its a bit pricey, but we did eat a lot for two people, and it was worth every penny. Try the fatty tuna, the wagyu nigiri, and the most excellent unagi for a great taste trio. The squid salad is also a must. Going back once a month minimum from now on, for real. I do have three issues that stood out in a negative way: at these prices, please NO PAPER NAPKINS. Just no. The chairs are small, hard, and uncomfortable. Mine creaked under me and Im 135 pounds. My husband is 64 and 230 pounds and was worried his wouldnt hold up. And lastly, BYOB, really? Well ok, now that I know, I will. At least there is no corcage fee.

The fish was delicious! The wasabi was amazing, we appreciate a fresh wasabi. Best chirashi bowl ever. Each piece felt carefully prepared, with different sized cuts to compliment the different flavors (thick cuts often highlight the freshness of the fish). Amazing, definitely our go-to spot from now on.

Food was good but not great - don katsu was quite dry. The tables are too close together which meant we felt like we were dining with the family next to us. Asked to move and was told they were expecting a large party (which didn t arrive while we were there). Decent food but if you want an intimate dinner date this isn t a good choice.

Even though this restaurant is a sushi restaurant, it is a pork cutlet restaurant. The pork cutlet sauce is also delicious, the meat is soft and the fries are thin but crispy. Highly recommended for kids Of course, the sushi quality is also good. The combination is very cost-effective. In the combination menu, the super crunchy agedashi topping and spicy edamame are both very delicious. We mainly ate the Kai combination. The servers are all friendly too.

Really decent sushi option in Leander. I always forget about this place and went today because Sushi Fever was closed. We opted for less traditional today (normally I only get nigiri and sashimi) and it was all very tasty. The ninja roll was a stand out for me.

It s a lovely surprise. As a Korean owned Japanese restaurant, Kai has outstanding, in-Japan level Nigiri and sashimi. If you ve been to Japan you know it s a compliment. Wasabi was just like that but I rarely had real wasabi in the states anyway. The rolls are great as well but it s in American standard.

I have been eating sushi for years in the Leander cedar park area. And I can easily say that Kai sushi is the best around! The service is impeccable! And the sushi I don t have words to describe how good. Never in Texas have I had sushi this fresh. 100% a must try and my new go to spot. We recently moved from seattle which had some of the best sushi around. One of the fears we had moving to Austin was that there wouldn t be good sushi. For the first few months, our fears became reality until recently when we found Kai Sushi. This is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants not only in Austin, but defiantly comparable to the ones we frequented in Seattle. This places is a gem! I came after hours. The chef is super kind and took the time to make my order even though it was technically 10 min after closing time. Wonderful fresh sushi! Godzilla rolls are SO delicious as is everything I ve eaten there, including their miso soup. Friendly sushi chef and staff. Like sitting at the bar and watching the art of sushi being prepared. No alcohol served however you can take your own but will be charged a fee that I think was about $10.

An absolute must for sushi lovers in the area. The quality of every dish we ordered was worth every penny (we splurged on a 4pc order of Otoro and holy balls, it melts right in your mouth). I visited here the other night and i loved it. The foods are nice, i only took two pics(main dish and dessert) but other appetizers like Takoyaki and baby octopus and the roll(forgot the name but im sure all of them are good) i had were reaaallyyy good as well!! Kai Sushi just became my favorite sushi restaurant in Austin area. The quality of sashimi was fantastic, and the price was reasonable! And the interior of the restaurant is modern and fancy. By far the best sushi we have had in our three years in the Austin area. Im not sure if its the ingredients, the preparation, or a mix of both, but the sushi is phenomenal. If you go, order the lobster tempura roll. You will not regret it. Also, there is no alcohol on site, but you are able to bring your own booze in case thats your thing.

We had an excellent experience here. I especially recommend their otoro nigiri (fatty tuna) and Chirashi don. You can tell they use really fresh fish! Otoro literally melts in your mouth and Chirashi don offers a generous portion with various yummy sashimi pieces to enjoy over rice. All our other orders were really good as well.
