Food seemed ok, but for the price, was feeling like the execution couldve been better. My wife told me that her grits were a little watery and seemed to lack a smooth creamy texture. My Risotto seemed a bit on the salty side. My sons steak for Med rare, seemed a bit charred. Would be willing to give another try at a later date and see how the cocktails are.

I don t typically leave bad reviews, or really, hardly ever. I m also a huge supporter of local business and a former server. We came in to celebrate a special day for us. We had our second bad time at this restaurant in a row. The first time, we waited 30 minutes for our drink orders to be taken in a non-busy restaurant while servers cleaned, rolled silverware, etc. the second, the same treatment in a restaurant that was half empty and a 1.5 hours from closing. Thinking we could try again after the first experience, we visited tonight and experienced very similar things, and more. We waited 30 minutes to be seen after being seated, and when we were, we were given water (awesome!) but never asked about wanting another drink. Money missed, as we would have ordered more! We were asked about food during our first interaction with our server, which is fine. Our French fries, which you DO pay a fairly high amount for, came out cold. More or less inedibly cold. However, we were never able to get a server to help us make it right. After about another 25-30 minute wait for food, we did very much enjoy our sliders, which were very good! Upon being ready for the check, we waited ANOTHER 23 minutes (I was keeping track at this point) to even see our server. She was nowhere to be found. In this time, another server brought us an extra dirty martini that we didn t order. No worries. Upon asking about the check with another server, they told us The extra drink was added to your ticket so they re working on fixing it and then it should be right out. Conveniently enough, our ticket was then magically ready to go not two minutes later! This was also the first time anyone had checked how our food was. As a former long-time server, I can tell you the working to fix it either was a lie, or these employees aren t being trained properly. It takes no time to fix that. Eventually we finally received our ticket (martini free!) and were able to leave after nearly 1.5 hours at this restaurant. The sliders were good, but in no way at all will we ever be back to try again just to get a third strike. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I can only handle so much!

Seriously? I ve been here a handful of times over the past three years, just moved to the area and love this place. The food s always great, I have yet to have anything I didn t just love. The cesar salad is fun, different, but makes a nice head nod to a classic cesar. The sliders are awesome, they cook the venison very well. Wings are solid, try the lemon pepper, you won t regret it. Everything s great. I ve only ever sat at the bar, but the bartenders know what they re doing, are nice, and the glasses and cutlery are cleaned well. 10/10 I ll be back and recommend this place to everyone I know. Edit. Their glasses are also super clean, with is a big plus. Parking: There s plenty. Some small spots and some big, you won t have trouble finding a spot though.

This is an overdue review. I ve been to The Republic a few times with my wife. Usually it s an alright experience. The last time we went though, over a year ago, it was early in the day and it was mostly empty. We asked for a booth and the hostess said it was for only large parties. That s the first time we were ever denied a booth and it was hilarious because of how empty the place was. We got sat right next to the only other people in there which was awkward. Before we could even order 3 more people walked in and were given a booth. At that point we just left and have never gone back. I don t see that changing.

The food was ok. Our eggs were cold. The coffee was old. Our waiter came by rarely to see if we wanted anything and instead spent most of his time talking to other staff behind the bar. It wasnt busy so theres no excuse for that. Looks like a nice place esthetically. The food was pretty in its presentation but lacked flavor.

My husband and I came here for the first time 3/8/24. We had eyed this place before but due to my food issues, it didn t seem like I could get much to eat. Well, they changed the menu since we looked a while ago. We gambled and decided to go. We showed up right at the end of happy hour, so a couple of things were a bit cheaper. So many things sounded great on the new menu but I wasn t sure how they cooked them. I let our server Emily know so had a dairy issue and she sent Adam over to have a chat. We started with the Mesquite Smoked Brussels & the Roasted Tomato Bruschetta. Sorry we were hungry and I forgot the photos. I moved the cheese off the bruschetta and it was still delicious! I do not care for brussel sprouts but let me tell you, they sure were yummy! I had the Maryland Style Crab Cakes cooked in oil vs butter. The hubby had the Texas Carbonara and they were both delicious and we highly recommend both. They catered to my dairy issue, but if I paid attention to my minor gluten issue I think I would have struggled a bit. I could likely have had the Venison Lettuce Wraps but I didn t check since I stopped Adam at the crab cakes. The atmosphere was pleasant, noise level just fine, bathrooms were clean. We will be back for sure! Thank you Emily and Adam for your help and excellent service! Dietary restrictions: See my review for restrictions. Thanks for reading!

Republic recently updated their menu. Ive been working my way through it. Everything has been great. The previous menu was okay, but nothing to write about. The new menu takes is a whole different level. The Vension Lettus wraps are a great way to start or a great Keto option. Of the Entrees the Texas carbonara (pork belly instead of bacon) is great. The shrimp and grits is one of the best Ive had. The flatbreads are good. The crust is a little thick for what I consider a flatbread but that doesnt take away from the flavor. My favorite is the Angry Primo - Ive renamed it the Angry Puppy. Its spicy... somewhat north of Jalapeño... but if you can take the heat try this one. Then there are the sliders. One of the things that has kept me from trying other things on the menu is the Buffalo Chicken sliders. great spice, the right amount of blue cheese, a little brightness from a pickle, and the perfect bun. I just looked at the clock and its 9pm and the kitchen is closing. If it was earlier I would have gone over and ordered some. Paul

Some of the items were good. Fries and their chicken taco were amazing. We also ordered jumbo wings but guess what !!! we rather got the crispy buffalo and we asked about it, they were like oh sorry, we will get you wings. We thought they didnt took the crispy wings coz they already placed on our table.. BUT they actually charged us for both and didnt even showed us the receipt while billing. They just made us pay for their mistake. I was surprised by the behavior coz I have been to several states in U.S and never had anyone behave so... I didnt say anything coz we ate those crispy wings as they are better than the other jumbo ones.. but I guess we are never going back to that place, not because if food but because of lack of courtesy..

Was disappointed with your place today. Our son and daughter in law brought us in to celebrate Veterans Day. Dad is an Air Force vet and did have on his Air Force hat and a flight jacket with Viet Nam patches. Now we were not looking for a free meal, like some places do give Vets today, or a Veteran discount BUT a thank you for your service from any employee would have been a nice gesture. You advertised that it was Veterans Day but no one at your establishment ever acknowledged an actual Veteran. Disappointing no effort was made on your part . Food was ok, nothing great. My hamburger was tasteless and my husbands catfish was over spiced. Bloody Marys were good. Our waitress was efficient and attentive. But my biggest disappointment was your lack of respecting the day ..

Waitress was good and fried pickles were decent. Bummer, we wanted to like it!

UPDATE as of Sept 29: Had to come back and sit at the bar for dinner and general festivities. My wife and I got a couple of the last happy hour seats. Plenty of tables available. There was a large HH party next to the bar keeping things rolling. Plenty of regulars that make it fun. Alex and Cam were awesome. Enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak...A MUST HAVE! Excellent service, excellent food, fun patrons. Meet up and enjoy on a Friday evening. Boosting all stars to 5. Totally overcame the previous visit. Original Review: Popped in for an early dinner on Friday, September 8th...about 5pm. The parking lot was full so I thought theyd be packed but it was wide open. Got a booth immediately. We came here after having a beverage at elsewhere. Wanted a really good burger and was not disappointed. Full bar, varied menu, and decent atmosphere. It took a few minutes for someone to take our drink order but that gave my wife and I a chance to settle in. Dove straight into a dinner order with the Big Tex Burger and Buffalo Chicken Salad. I asked for medium and burger came out closer to medium well but the meat made up for that with a perfect level of juiciness. Excellent fat content for a fantastic mouth feel. The fries were great too...just above shoestring size. Loved them. The Buffalo sauce had a tangy zing to it but I think thats fairly standard for that type of sauce. Not a personal favorite but was tasty for sure. I remember having their salsa on a previous visit and it had a bite to it so they may tend to be on the spicy side for similar items...not enough data to be sure yet. I was craving dessert and was surprised that the server didnt offer anything. Usually servers are always trying to upsell so Im not sure if Im happy they didnt offer or not. As a matter of fact, the server brought the bill before asking if we wanted anything else...not another round of drinks, no dessert, no water, nothing. None the less I soldiered on, opened a new tab, and ordered Cheesecake and coffee. The cheesecake must have been frozen. You can tell when its not fresh. Was disappointed but the flavor hit the spot even if the texture didnt. The server was friendly and attentive but seemed rushed, like she was trying to turn the table. There was a short wait by the time we finished dinner but the apparent rushing was all dinner long. The prices were as expected for this day and age. Looks like a nice atmosphere for HH and/or dinner at the bar. Im sure the service was an anomaly. Want to come back and try the Country Fried Steak! Overall, I liked it.

Took my younger son for dinner at this local place; front door service was quicker than expected which should have been the clue to things to come. For dinner service, the restaurant was very empty. Waitress was attentive but not confident in the food quality when asked what she recommended; Brussels sprout appetizer my son ordered was so undercooked a steak knife couldn t cut through the stalk; entrees came out-I had to ask the waitress if this was the adult portioned catfish (4 bite-sized pieces) and a mound of over cooked fries (if you were blindfolded you wouldn t know they were fries); shrimp scampi was lame and tasteless until the last bite where all the spices were hidden; overheard our waitress literally talk down the food to patrons next to us

3rd time is not a charm. The first time we came the food and drinks were great but the bar was backed up and took forever to get our drinks. Understandable and since we enjoyed our meal we decided to come back. The 2nd time was worse. Our server was rude and downright terrible. We had difficulty getting what we ordered, got our food before our drinks and then when we ordered another round of drinks we got the check instead. Of course the check included the 2nd round we never got. We had to flag down a manager to get those drinks. He did promptly deliver but didnt say a word just dropped them off. We felt rushed and like they just wanted us to pay and get out. Today we tried again but we didnt even bother to order. When we were being sat down (party of two) we asked for a booth. The hostess said that the booths were reserved for larger parties but right next to us were two ladies in a booth. Why was our party of two not good enough for a booth but theirs was? I could understand if they were busy but there were several open booths with plenty of seating right away. The menu is limited, the service is atrocious, and the attitude of everyone there is unexcusable. The only good thing I can say is when they made us angry enough today to where we turned around and walked out it prompted us to find a far superior restaurant. Dont bother with The Repulic but rather go down the street to Moonshine or hop over to Round Rock and enjoy Whiskey Cake. Both restaurants are far superior in their menus, taste, drinks, and service.

My family and I were seated quickly and directly in the front of the restraint. The place was busy, but as someone who has worked in restraunts, it was not more than at best an average rush. We sat for almost 10mins without even having a server look in our direction. As we were contemplating leaving we had a sever come and tell us she would ask where our server was. She walked up to a male server at the bar who was chatting with someone, he promptly looked over and waved his hand in our direction and went back to talking. That is when we decided to leave and as we were walking away he made a half step forward as if he wanted to say something and then stopped and simply watched us walk out while he went back to talking with someone at the bar. Ive heard good things but as a first experience this was the worst service Ive received. I cant rate the food as I never even got water and the atmosphere was nice but ruined by the service. I have never walked out of a restraunt before and it took some convincing by family to do it this time. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Sadly, it seems the Republic has gone downhill. The service was absolutely terrible last Friday night. Slow, so painfully slow, and we had to ask for water 3 times. The chicken sandwich had a good flavor. However, the chicken breast was thin. There was a deep fried onion and lettuce that made the sandwich look larger. The fries also had a good flavor, and the number of fries was good. The added spice tasted salty, but with the ketchup, they were perfect. The beer was large and cold. The dining area is set up nicely. There are a couple of large TVs mounted on the wall with sports on them. I will say the service was outstanding from the moment I walked in the door. I hate giving one star but I ve never been to restaurant that won t serve you because our party was too large. There two tables seated in the restaurant. We had 16 people and asked to broken into 4 tables of four. We were told no. Staff was polite as were we, but they sat a party of 6 (who came in after us). They said they only have 2 servers, but only two tables were sat. 2 servers can t service 6-7 tables?

Seven of us went to Republic for dinner, it was my moms 94th birthday. The bar tender was our server. He has been there since day one, I believe he said they started in December of 2020. He was fantastic. Was a great experience, and the desserts they gave my mom for her birthday were huge and delicious. This was our first trip to this restaurant, but it will not be our last. My son is moving near this restaurant and he was so impressed he said he will become a regular customer.

Despite admitting that they were understaffed, we never felt it. The food came out perfectly on time, the drinks were mixed with care and were amazing. The environment was friendly and warm. What a great place. But id say that the staff was really what makes this place so special. Someone knew what they were doing when they hired them. Parking: Plenty of parking space outside.

Update: The Republic has sadly gone downhill. I don t know if there is a new owner or what but the quality of food has declined. Also, there was a rotten egg smell by the bar, maybe the pipes? The nachos were fine but the chicken sandwich was a very thin piece of meat. I don t need to return. The Republic Kitchen + Bar is a great place in Leander off Parmer/Ronald Reagan. It has been around for about a year and I m mad that this was my first trip. I guess that means I ll have to make up for lost time. We got the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. There was a sweetness to it with the apples and honey and candied pecans. So good! For dinner, I got the Pan-Seared Chicken and had to say yes to that when I saw that the chicken was on top of risotto, my favorite. The chicken was a small piece but very flavorful. I got the tots and also some chili which was spicy! Thanks The Republic, great place. I gotta get one of your large cocktails next time too.

This place has gone way downhill. First of all, today was the second time we have had to wait 30+ minutes for a table despite there being 5 or 6 empty tables. My kids ordered the chicken and waffles which came with very little chicken. The worst thing was that my wife ordered the hash, but we were not informed that they were out of the breakfast potatoes. Instead it was a bowl of soggy fries with egg and cheese. Will not be returning.

My fiancé and I tried to have lunch on a Saturday around 1pm. We had previously been for dinner about a year ago, and both loved the food. It s not the most convenient place to go location wise for us, but we had wanted to go again after the first visit. When we got there, we were given our menus. Lots of options, and everything sounded great. We ordered the fried pickles to start. Our server, who was very nice, returned a few minutes later saying that we had been given the wrong menus for that time. Apparently it s only brunch until 3pm which seems very odd. Neither my fiancé or I really wanted any of the options provided. I understand a full menu can be difficult to have prepped all the time, but the brunch menu seems very limited. It also seems pretty lazy of the hostess not to pay attention to these kind of details. When we left their wasn t any concern as to the short stay, nor did the hostess even look up from her phone to enquire about the sudden exit. It was very disappointing.

On 11/26/22 my family and I went in with another family. Weve all ate here several times before, but this was the first time with the new menu and new chef. I ordered my usual- the Steak Salad. It was brought out with chopped cilantro covering the steak. Im super allergic to cilantro so I kindly asked the server for a new salad without the cilantro. He explained that with the new menu it comes with cilantro lime dressing, so I asked for ranch instead. After waiting 20 min. it was brought out with chopped cilantro AGAIN! This time I asked to speak with the chef. Instead, Frank came to speak with me and told me Its not cilantro, its green onion, the kitchen doesnt even have cilantro. Thankfully I know the difference between a green onion and cilantro. I know exactly what Im allergic to! If I had listened to Frank and an ambulance was called, it would have been on The Republic! My severer was apologetic and kind about the situation and I know he has nothing to do with the kitchen. But, the kitchen needs to quit arguing with me and get it together.

I wanted to like this place, but it just wasnt there. I brought my daughter here to eat and we loved the atmosphere and the staff was nice. The food however is where it falls apart. It took upwards of 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered a Cornish hen, which was $21. I got the smallest piece of chicken that I have ever seen. I wouldve been better getting a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. It wasnt cooked well and was flavorless. I felt jipped. They did a good job on my daughters chicken sandwich however. She got fried instead of grilled and they accommodated her. Overall just a lackluster experience. I may give it another shot sometime and pick something else, but this definitely wasnt worth it.

Upon entering we were quickly greeted and showed to our table. Unfortunately that is where the good points stop. The floor was sticky, the table felt a bit oily, and the glasses were dirty. The metal chair was designed for toddlers, the seat was so thin. I do not have large hips, by any definition, but had to sit at an awkward angle to feel like I did not have metal bars squeezing my hips. That aside, wife and I heard good things about the restaurant. So we decided to stay. Our waitress took a good 10 minutes before she stopped by to get it drink request. After we put in our request, I had a question about the sausage, which was not answered till after the food was brought out. I then asked for bacon instead. What was brought out, could be called bacon I guess. Barley two pieces, that were exceedingly thin, and cold. I could not finish them, and I love bacon. The omelet was all but flavorless. Salt to the rescue there. In the end, nearly 50 dollars for two people to eat brunch. Lack of service, lack of flavor, lack of cleanliness, lack of good chairs. We will not be going back. I do not recommend anyone else going either.

After another 5 minutes finally was helped and received food. Once getting food home it was a joke. The photo here is of the $9 kids quesadilla that was supposed to come with tater tots. Laughably bad. Small portions and high prices. Salad ordered came with wrong dressing as well. Avoid, many other better options in the area.

The food wasnt bad, mind you (Although not good either), or anyone rude or anything, but ..it just felt like they arent really trying to impress anyone. Meh Oh, about the tables.. They were very disgusting. They were sticky and you could see the yucky stuff in the wood, someone really should do a scrub as it looks like no one did it in years. Also no server cleaned our table before we sat down(and they sat us down). In that sense it was very negative.

When we got there they couldn t find the reservation but it was no big deal because we were early enough that they weren t super crowded. The atmosphere was great and the food was yummy!!! The reason I m only giving it four stars is because the air conditioner was out and they were really short on servers. The gal we had was pleasant but she could only handle so much. Nachos and Guac was under flavored so we added the sloppy joe meat to the nachos in hopes it would make it better. Sadly the only thing it did was ruin the sloppy joe...... Just moved everything to the side hardly eaten. Server came back, noticed the full plates, then we ordered some soup that was ok, a little to salty. I would have had a better chance getting my server if I just went to the host stand and ask for more water. Im big on customer service and it wasnt crazy busy or anything. Talk about 5 star service, tucked away in Leander! . When I walked in, the hostess greeted me and walked me over to my seat in the main dining area. But I was more fascinated by the bar lounge, so I found a good spot at the bar. . The bar stools are one of the most comfortable chairs I have sat on. Its the perfect height to the bar and the bar countertop is a good size to where the bartender is a comfortable space from you. . The inside of the restaurant was clean, and it felt like you were eating at a downtown restaurant. . At the bar, I ordered the shrimp and sausage plate. It tasted so good! I asked the bartender if the chef owns the place, because it felt like the chef had served me a masterpiece. . Talking about the bartender, I have to give a huge shout out to the management team that trained the team members at this location. Everyone was professional, courteous and most importantly fun to chat with. Also, the bartender made a mean pineapple margarita! (Highly recommend you get it!) . The inside of the restaurant was broken into booths, main dining, bar, game area, and patio with a game outside as well. . The management team at the Republic hired a great interior designer. The restaurant felt complete when you walked in, and the service definitely made a strong impression on me to return back.
