I have many complaints about my wife and my treatment by Silverleaf. My wife previously hit a few lowlights in our interactions with the firm. We were notified that we had to come in to sign the documents. We told them we had a number of corrections and wanted to have Tom explain how the various provisions would work. We specifically explained we did not want to visit with some kind of legal assistant. We wanted to meet with Tom. When we showed up we where ushered to a room with a legal assistant expected us to sign off. I asked where was the attorney. I was told he was meeting with another client and was not available.

I contacted Silverleaf legal group because first my father and then my mother passed away and the brother who is supposed to be executor is not communicating nor bringing the estate to probate. This is not the first law firm I have contacted but it is the first one I agreed to pay for a consultation with as I am fed up with my brothers arrogance and feel he needs to pay rent to the estate, etc. I liked the attorney and he seemed to know what he was talking about, and stated they would have a plan and start getting things going to see if they could make my brother produce the will. So, I paid them a 7500 dollar retainer out of which the 350 would be taken. Today I get a link to their my case software, I was contacted by another attorney whom I never spoke to and she wants me to fill out forms I don t have with information I cannot access until I am made a dependent administrator by the courts which was represented to me as the first thing needing to be done. This software is so that every time you converse on it they bill you billable hours ($350), so even though it limits characters and they may not reply to your responses if you read their agreement you are being charged. Heck, they re gonna charge you for literally everything, even supplies you would expect any office to have, even paper clips if I m not mistaken- which are reusable. So I objected strongly and Meghan was supposed to call me, but never did, and Tara denied being the legal assistant even though their receptionist Teri said I m transferring you to the legal assistant for your case and no one answered why they didn t contact me with an actual game plan or why he didn t list on the legal pad in their conference room what he needed or what he planned.Or ask for what he needed. He didn t even ask for the address of the estates major asset, and brothers residence, my parents house. Then some old guy calls me and basically fires me ( which is fine, these people are scam artists), they want your entire inheritance and they re going to nickel and dime you to death to get it. He said I objected to them working on my case, but Meghan never replied even on the software, and Tara said she didn t know anything about it. So then he says I ve only had your case for two days , but he still should have known what we talked about and not been asking me for something he knew I could not provide.At the consultation He said he would inform my brother I was represented and was applying for dependent administrator to see if he would produce the will. Then we would apply for dependent administrator and once approved we would need a probate intake to file the actual estate. They were just acting stupid because they thought I was stupid, to pad their pockets, and drain me financially so they could ask for a percentage of the estate. Stay away from these people. They need to put a red light on their porch.

My husband and I can not recommend Tom or Tara. We were impressed with Tom during our 1st meeting but it went down hill from there. I could write a book but the short of it is I kept finding errors. Tara got the spelling of my name wrong about ½ the time. I pointed out my son s DOB was wrong. She responded she would correct my husband s DOB. We are a blended family and she listed my husband s daughter (who has his last name) as being my child and she listed my son (who has my last name) as being my husband s child. I owned a house before I married Tara listed the promissory note under Joint Assets and the Deed of Trust under my Assets . I gave them copies of the titles to the three vehicles we own. Only two of them were entered. There was much more. If you choose to use Silverleaf Legal Group my advise is to go over the Trust very carefully and don t get pressured to hurry and sign the Trust documents.

Toms seminar on retirement planning was high in useful content and practical advice, low on sales pitch. He has a comprehensive understanding of the topics, explains them well, and connects well with people. But more than that, he sees the bigger picture, outside of just the services he supplies, and looks to help people anticipate their needs. I will look to him for a periodic review of my documents and he is the person I recommend my wife and kids turn to when the time comes.

My wife and I were very unsure about whether to set up a trust account for ourselves, or just have wills drawn up. Tom and his team at Silverleaf were so helpful during this very difficult decision. The number of times (and there were many) that they met with us and helped us via phone/email was extraordinary. When it came time to actually sit down, go through the entire package, and sign the documents they made the experience very easy. I had the misfortune of scheduling an appointment with this so-called lawyer Thomas Fortenberry, only to be left utterly disappointed and disgusted by their complete lack of professionalism and disregard for their clients time and needs. Despite making an appointment over a week in advance, I received a last-minute email informing me that the lawyer, Tom, was double booked and couldnt bother to honor our scheduled meeting. Not only is this incredibly unprofessional, but its also downright disrespectful to waste someones time like that. To add insult to injury, instead of offering a sincere apology or attempting to rectify the situation, they had the audacity to push their responsibilities onto someone else and demand that I fill out a lengthy form and provide additional documentation. As if their incompetence wasnt enough, they had the nerve to mention their exorbitant retainer fee of $5,000.00 per month, as if that somehow excuses their unprofessional behavior. I refuse to work with someone who clearly has no respect for their clients and cant even manage their own schedule properly. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of this so-called lawyer and their disgraceful practice. A one-star rating is generous considering the level of incompetence and disrespect I experienced. Avoid at all costs.

This law firm came to my rescue when I needed them in a situation where I had no clue on what or how to do what needed to be done. They were nice and very professional with a smile and reasonable. They got on my case right away and assured me that they had my back and not to worry and they took care of me in a quick time zone. And answered me back when I called or emailed as well as let me know what was going on step by step I was so pleased and thankful till I had to cry because I felt like a family member of theirs.
