1. Food was NOT good at all. 2. Why is it soooo dark in this restaurant? I can barley read my menu. 3. No SWEET tea? 4. Service wasn t that attentive and handed us hot plates instead of coming to our side of the table to place it in front of us.

This is a regular place for my husband and I to go. We live their Queso Maya and beef fajitas. We ve recently went to another Mexican food restaurant and got fajitas and it was not the same level of goodness. We are here the next day to get our fajita fix to cleanse our pallet. Dining room WAY too dark. 4:30pm and unable to read the menu. Ate in bar area. Everything else made up for it! We have a new winner for fav! The fajita quesadilla were meaty and flavorful. I had the very large Queso Flameado and oh yum! Plenty for two with fresh pico and delicious chips and salsa.

3rd Review!!! We always have a great experience at Texican Cafe in Kyle! Being a vegetarian Texican Cafe is a go to for me because the beans are not made with lard. YAY! We live in the 55+ community across the street Sage Plum Creek & A group of us went to Texican Cafe in Kyle on Friday night 8/30/24 at 7:03pm, Table #206 & our waitress was Stephenie! Our dinner was super great as always & the vibe is always amazing! Stephenie was so amazing! She not only had out big table, but she also had the table behind us with a bunch of FUN & Energetic guys that we all kind of had fun together! Stephenie is an amazing waitress & we are so thankful we got her! We will be back very soon & hope to see Stephenie again! Thank you to the manager here as well! We live across the street in Kyle, Texas. Soon after moving in we received a gift certificate to Texican Cafe so we walked over to eat. Our waitress was HALLE and she is AMAZING!!! Right off the bat we loved the vibe at this restaurant! The chips! OMG! The salsa was so good & the hot one is even better! I m a vegetarian & I was able to order a guac taco & it was great! I also ordered a virgin pina colada and it was SO GOOD!!! My husband ordered enchiladas & those were amazing as well! We used our gift card & left so excited that we found a great Tex-Mex restaurant with amazing staff! If you go Sit in Halle s section Tell Halle or whomever Kim & Tim sent you! Happy Eating! Halle brought over the manager GASPAR & introduced us to him. GASPAR is such a hands on manager. He was helping out all the staff & that was great to see. Gaspar really takes pride in this restaurant & all that goes on. Gaspar brought us this rum cake & OMG it is soooo GOOD! It s our new favorite place to eat! This place in Kyle Texas was recomended. It was average. It is very casual. The shredded taco salad in the shell does not come with rice and beans. It had no flavor. The verde enchilada was pretty good. Chips were served warm and Salsa was pretty good. The Texas margaritas was good!

I dined alone, was seated promptly and after a few minutes my waitress came and took my order. The food (carne guisada) was quite good. My server wasn t horrible by any means, just not very attentive. I did, however, see other servers busting their rears to give good service. This was my first time visiting this establishment and will very likely return.

I enjoy going to the Texican, but here are my two negatives. Number one, every time Ive ordered chicken here (except for fajitas) it has been very dry. Number two, they keep the lights so dim for the atmosphere that I often have to use the flashlight on my phone to see the menu.

A safe place a land if you re looking for some outstanding TexMex food. The atmosphere is great and the staff are hustling. My fiancé and I have been coming here for years and our only complaint is that they won t open their doors before 11am. We make do as there is a large assortment of stores in the immediate area to kill time with. Our general go to is the San Antonio enchiladas that feature carne guisada in lieu of the typical molida which makes for a great rendition. Not to steal the spotlight from a classic but the guisada was a great idea. I wonder if they could take a crack at some fajita enchiladas? Anyway! Great salsa and great food. I will vouch for the aforementioned as well as their salsa, chips (because they matter to), flameado, beans and rice!

My friends and I had a great time at Texican Cafe! We went for a late lunch after floating the river and it was SO GOOD! Our server Josh was super attentive and kind. And the food was fresh, filling and hot! We ordered the queso with ground beef and guac, which was so good!! The chips were super crispy and salted perfectly. I got the fajita beef quesadilla, which was full of flavorful meat! They did not skimp out. We also ended up getting a vanilla flan for dessert, and when I tell you it was probably the best one Ive had, I mean it! It was smooth, creamy, full of vanilla and caramel flavor! Absolute perfection. I highly recommend stopping by for some quality tex mex!

This was my first and last time eating at the Texican Cafe in Kyle. Many of the places l go, l like to see the reviews... I was impressed. So here comes the problems on a Monday evening.... They Do Not serve sweet tea! What the heck! Were in TEXAS! This is like going to Fredericksburg with No peaches! Hugh...they dont make any sense. This place is for the desired taste of certain foods! Ask plenty of questions, prior to ordering! I ordered 1 Oz of shrimp 8.99- what a mistake! There no bigger or less than the size of a quarter. You cannot cook these without them being hard to eat. Do Not order unless you like chewing for a long time! FYI, drink plenty of something if you do. Tamales, no bueno!!!! Enchiladas..., pick something else! The waitress very nice and apologetic. I left paying 29.99 for 2 Enchiladas, 8 tiny hard shrimp, l didnt eat nothing, l picked around, and l was done! Oh..., and by the way, that nice waitress told me, they were getting complaints of the food all this evening, including the couple sitting next to me. Good grief... Thank God for hotdogs and chili...!

We used to love texican cafe but recently we called to notify them of our 19 party coming to visit from out of town. When we called we said we could be there in 10 mins but they asked us to wait 1 hour. We showed up an hour later ready to go, we were then told that it would be another 2 hours since they now had a wait list. The host offered to get her manager to clear everything up, when he approached us there was no apology or attempt at rectification he said they don t do reservations and he could not help us. We offered to split our group into multiple tables to which he denied and continued to blame us for calling and not just showing up. We love the food but the attitude the manager gave us with no attempt at rectification is unacceptable and we will not be returning to this former family favorite.

We went for an early dinner here at the Kyle location. We had a party of 7. The restaurant was not very busy yet, only a handful of tables occupied. We ordered 5 meals between the 7 of us as two couples shared a meal. One of the meals ordered by someone in the party was for beef tamales. The order was never entered. Everyone was served except her. When we asked the server, she realized she didnt enter the order. Once she did and brought it out, she brought a sour cream chicken enchilada platter. We told her that was not what was ordered. The next order she brought out was a beef enchilada plate. Still not the beef tamales. At that point we asked for the manager. Instead of the manager trying to support her staff, she put down the server saying it was her fault. The manager then said she would write down exactly what it was supposed to be to make sure it was right. When she finally brought it out, she did not make eye contact or say anything to anyone. She put the food down and immediately left. They comped the incorrect meals but we still payed for the final meal that took 3 tries before it was right. ( She ended up taking it to go since everyone else was long done.) Also, the waitress must have been afraid of us because we asked for refills on some waters we never got and had to ask mutiple times to get tortilla chips. There was no sincere apology or any other corrective measure. We will not be back.

Texican can always be counted on for great margaritas and the best chips around, which makes happy hour here a no brainer. There are food items on the menu that arent to my preference, but the chicken tortilla soup is outstanding, and you cant go wrong with the San Antonio enchiladas (topped with carne guisada). Service is usually good, friendly, fast.

I have been going to Manchaca location since the 90s. I went to this location for my birthday today. First all they put us in an area where it was dark. We could not not even read the menu. Told the waitress if we could have more. Light. She said lights were on a single mode but never addressed the issue. Had to use my phone light. Most of the food was good for the most part. except my plate with tacos and rice and beans was cold. The queso flamado was good not has melted.The beef fajitas were good as was the chips and salsa. I think I will stick to the Manchaca location. Just a little disappointed.

This isnt typical Texmex, its El Paso style Mexican food that uses various peppers and sauces such as Adobe. Did not quite understand this. So it did bring down the feel of brunch. Weve been to many places for brunch between 10:30 and 11:30 and no issue with ordering a mimosa! The room was really dark which is okay in the evening. On this Sunday adventure, my husband selected from the brunch menu San Antonio Migas. The portions were bountiful. My favorite is healthy Stuffed Avocado with Shredded Chicken with toppings on side. Traveling home with an overnight stop in Kyle, we decided to stop here for dinner. It is the first time we have eaten at any Texican Cafe. We got the queso w/ground meat & guacamole (on the side). Charro beans mmmmmm! Hubby had the El Paso cheese enchiladas which were similar to ones in New Mexico w/red sauce.For dessert, Sopapillas with cinnamon sugar and drizzled With warm honey. The sopapillas were light and airy, it was like eating cotton candy just less sweet. Next trip I want to try the Margarita flight.

Love this Location in Kyle. The atmosphere is quiet, not boring, just chill. The waitstaff is friendly and will give you suggestions if you ask. Food is fast, fresh & delicious . Ive been here twice since I discovered it. My new go to for TexMex. The first time I ordered the porkchop plate. It was flavorful and tender and for dessert fried ice cream. It was so good I had to go back and try another entrée. Second time I ordered the tacos AL carbon they were good. Same visit I also tried the chicken verde enchiladas ooooomg those were worth the second visit. For dessert I had to have the fried ice cream with the Carmel and pecans on top. I believe I have become that person, the one that saves room for dessert . That Fried Ice cream gotta go back soon. Try this place in Kyle its worth the drive. Oops forgot to mention they have dosxx on draft another plus. Parking: Theres plenty of parking.

The food is always on point. ALWAYS. The location was rather small and the floor is slippery with just normal shoes. Our server was amazing. She got everything right and checked on us often. The drinks from the bar were not good though. They need more training on how to make a margherita and Mexican Martini. Too much sweet and sour, not enough alcohol. The Mexican martini was very bitter and tasted like pickles. The color was a light green. I would suggest taking the bar staff to Trudys or Chuys bc their drinks are on point.

Enjoyed lunch at Texican Cafe with my grown kiddos today and we were excited to try the new restaurant in Kyle. Our waiter Kelly was friendly and very attentive. The food overall was decent to good all though I think that many of the dishes lacked a bit of flavor. We will definitely come back!

The salsa and chips are hands down the best I ve had in Austin and Kyle both. Just that delicious. So much garlic in the salsa yummy!! The food is good too. The margaritas could be better they re too sweet but the food makes up for it. I recommend the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. And the fajitas are good too! Try the Queso flameado , it s quite delicious

Pescado cozumel was delicious! Onions and peppers could have been a bit more cooked for my taste. But the fish was so tender and flavorful. Edit: went back and veggies were cooked to perfection this time but mostly everything was very salty, my dishes and the other dishes at our table, everyone complained that it was too salty. Steak fajita enchilada was delicious but chicken enchilada was quite dry. Service was great both times. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs.
