About two miles up Village Creek. Put the canoe in at the primitive boat access ramp where FM 327 crosses the creek. Lots of rain lady night, so paddling upstream is very difficult. Would much easier in normal flow levels. Very peaceful. The Ray Larsen Nature Sanctuary is on the east Bank. Great hiking woods and the sanctuary had about 6 miles of trails.

If you don t have time to hike 3 miles to the Sandylands at Big Thicket, you get there right from the parking lot here. Great trails and diverse plant life with both a high pines trail and a blue trail with great shade that s almost 95% covered shade and great river beach spots and views.

The Roy E Larsen Sanctuary is an amazing place! I hike through here quite a bit! The scenery is gorgeous and extremely peaceful! There is a lot of wildlife to see if you are quiet enough to not scare them away!! Beware of the flies; they are the size of house cats!! Also the poison oak and ivy!!

Beautiful Nature preserve with 3 different trail options. ~0.8mi, ~2mi, and a 4mi trail make it a great place for anyone of any fitness level. Popular place to take photos especially around the holidays. If you re a plant enthusiast the park offers a list of species you can find! All in all a beautiful place

This is a great trail to see the diverse landscape in this area in a reasonable hike. Following the Flood plain trail then returning back via the Long Leaf pines will show you starkly different terrains. The hike is just under 4 miles with the return to the car park which was perfect. The diversity of plants, insects, and birds was quite good. Leaves are just starting to change colors on the Cypress with other trees soon to follow.

Beautiful hiking trail along Village Creek. The floodplain trail has some challenging terrain with varying elevation and small streams to ford. The map says the trail is 2 miles, but to make it back to the parking area, its right under 4 miles. The views of the creek are worth it.

This place is the best public nature trail Ive seen. The trails are CLEARLY marked. Well maintained and the underbrush is at a minimal so the views are pretty also. My friend and I walked the .8 mi trail and the 4 mi this week. It was peaceful and easy to follow. We past another family and an elderly man who also were out that day. So when I expected it to be isolated and creepy I was wrong. It felt solitary but not so secluded that it was alarming.
