We are new to the area and they recommended this place to us. From the moment we arrived the people were very friendly, we ordered the fried food tray and everything was really delicious. I also recommend the chicken in Creole sauce with mofongo and meat with shrimp and mofongo. I loved everything everything!! Without a doubt a good place

The first puertorican food spot i discovered when coming to texas (military). I fell in love with their food almost instantly. I have been here many times in the course of 3 years and i still dont know the owners name lol but he is very atentive to his clients , always checking if we are ok , need anything and if the food is good. He is easy to have conversations with and he pushes his staff to do the same , never had a problem with the staff either , never have a long wait time for my food , i always recommend this place to new hispanic soldiers i meet and they all feel the same , not many puertorican food spots around this area but La Garita would still be on top even if there were.

Despite a prompt greeting and seating, the long wait for appetizers and cold chicken certainly detracted from the overall dining experience. Additionally, the use of instant rice was a letdown, indicating a lack of attention to quality ingredients. While its understandable that they may have been short-staffed with only one waitress, the slow service compounded the frustrations. Overall, the combination of delays and subpar food quality left much to be desired.

Ordered food online through Uber eats and the first two times we had this place it was so good but my God this food went down hill. My skirt steak was dry and over down. La Garita restaurant is really a great experience. Service is excellent and the food delicious. This Puerto Rican culinary wonder will worth your visit if you are in the Killeen area. And if you are hungry, you get plenty for your money. The Mofongo, Puerto Rican style rice and beans and all the entrees are authentic Puerto Rican flavor. I felt I was visiting my grandmother back in Puerto Rico, it took me back to my roots. I definitely recommend this restaurant 100%.

Lets start with the food. It definitely reminded me of PR and was very flavorful. The service was great and the atmosphere was cozy, it even had domino tables! My recommendation would be to play different variety of latin music, my experience was all Juan Luis Guerra so the music made it less interesting. Also, add more decorations that represent Puerto Rico I saw great opportunities to make this place shine. Highly recommend you stop by and try them out! Parking: It has a number of parking that makes it difficult to find a spot when the restaurant is busy.

How can I even start. Is my first time taking my time to leave a review cause this type of service is embarrassing. One of my friend order an Alcapurria and was undercooked, they brought another and it was undercook as well. I order a trifongo with churrasco which by the way the charge me extra 4$ which is not stated in the menu, the menu clearly stated mofongo,bifongo or trifongo nothing about additional cost. The worst part the churrasco, worst churrasco I had in my life and believe I have eaten alot of them, terribly seasoned, small, literally taste like it was just a couple of hours away of going bad if it wasnt bad already and probably was the reason for the bad taste. Pretty much spend 40$ + tip on 1 piña colada, 1 alcapurria and the trifongo/churrasco plate. It was also barely a trifongo, pretty sure it was just a bifongo with 1 or 2 small pieces of sweet plantains if that was the second ingredient. Is being 5 hours and still burping garlic from the trifongo. Told one of the waitress about the extra 4 dollar and she made a joke about it about being in small letters, told her about the churrasco which I only took 1 bite and left the rest and she didnt care either. They may have couple of things decent from the menu but 90% of 8 people table didnt like the food. To be honest I dont even know how a place like this still standing when they have multiple restaurants of the same within 2 miles of each other and are by alot way better in prices and food quality,taste,service,location etc.

The first time I went everything was fine and I paid in cash and the second time I went I paid by card and the employee was very friendly and the food was delicious but the employee Yeslin gave me the card for two different amounts, one of $33.29 which was correct and one of $15.00. the two transactions at the same time and without having given me the ticket to sign and say how much tip I wanted to leave, they had already made those two transactions to my card. When I sign the ticket and choose the 15%, which was $4.61. When I check the next day to see if it was a mistake on the part of the employee, it turns out that no, it was that he made two transactions on my account, I call the Restaurant and report what happened, Angélica answers me and tells me that she is going to talk to the manager about what It happened to me but apparently the employee had not understood and took a $15 tip to which I told him it was impossible because before I signed the tip he had already charged the two transactions to my account because the employee Angélica stopped calling me, I am still waiting for Call me and refund the 15 dollars they billed me as a trick to my account. Debut and farewell I will never return. Be careful because there is a lot of scam

I went in looking for some Puerto Rican cooking and I have to say they definitely threw down in that kitchen ! I had the yellow rice with pigeon peas and roast pork shoulder with sweet plantains! This is an excellent restaurant for traditional Puerto Rican dishes. The owners provide a personal experience and can make any dish you can imagine from your youth. I highly recommend this location for people in the Killeen area.
