I reached out because I had a simple hearing regarding an Enforcement of Child Support. The day we had the consultation I paid my full retainer fee. Many said I didnt need a lawyer, but I felt peace of mind knowing that I had back up. During the consultation I tried giving information regarding the NCPs character that I felt my lawyers may need to help with the case. I remember whomever I spoke with stating, lets hope we wont need any of that. Looking back now, I wished I would have stepped away then and saved myself some money. Moving forward to a couple days before my hearing, I called their office because I hadnt heard from anyone other than the invoices coming in. I expressed how the hearing is in a few days and was wondering what the game plan was, her words to me were- Well, let me ask you, what are you expecting or wanting to happen? I was taken a bit back. I responded saying, I dont know, I payed $3000 for representation, maybe request lawyers fees, a lump sum, I dont know. She responded saying we cant ask for lawyers fees etc. Which is fine, I dont know the rules, but ultimately the sense I got was there was no game plan and her words to me, Its up to the judge -that statement was obvious to me. So I asked her, So I am paying $3,000 (retainer) for you to tell me its up to the judge? Right there I requested their withdraw of representation. I wish I would have been told this during the consultation instead of wasting over $1,100 on emails and communication. Fast forward to the hearing after a continuance request. I overheard the numbers his defense was offering to pay before we went up to see the judge, theyre excuses on why the defendant wasnt able to work and why he currently couldnt pay. Luckily, with that information, I was able to put together my closing argument. I represented myself while his lawyer tried to intimidate me and tarnish my character in front of the judge. (Ironically, the information during the consultation that I was told lets hope we dont need) The judge saw eye to eye with my defense. I was granted what I requested with the exception of putting a lien on their house (Hes in a huge amount of arrears $60k+) which I felt with the proper education and knowledge or proper representation I may have been granted. The judge told me he knows I am not a lawyer, but there is a right way to submit certain evidence. ( His defense attorney stated he didnt have any assets under his name, which was a lie, I had proof that their $650k home was under both their names. But clearly that evidence was considered hearsay.) I was very disappointed thinking that Carlson Law firm could have been there to better represent me or guide me, Instead, I got - Its up to the judge. This is just my experience. I hear them advertising for Injury a lot so maybe thats what they specialize in, but not family law, as simple as my case was, (clearly, I got through it with a win without representation) I felt truly disappointed. I even emailed them on 06/30/2024 at [email protected] as they typically suggest in their bad reviews, I have yet to hear back. Do extensive research when seeking a lawyer for your particular needs, ask lots of questions.

Both Jami and Alejandro were there anytime I needed to speak to them, they offered compassion in difficult situations through the process, and reassurance that my case was being handled with the utmost care, respect, and best interest of my son. I selected Carlson Law Firm to represent me because they were local, had a good reputation and had the resources to act in my behalf. When I talked to my representative, Rubi, I stated that in the end I wanted the firm to handle all the bills and pay them, and I wanted some money to buy a new bicycle. Rubi handled the bills, assisted in finding doctors and services to help in my recovery and I had enough money to both buy a new bicycle and get on with my life. I am very pleased with how the whole process was handled. All total it took about 10 months from injury to finalization. I recommend Carlson Law Firm to anyone needing a personal injury law firm.

The only reason that I am giving Carlson law firm a one-star rating is because the communication is extremely poor. There is never another lawyer or individual who can speak to you about your case or answer any questions that you may have. It was really a horrible breakdown in communication. Also I did not like the fact that because my grandchildren were minors it was not explained in the original communications that they would be considered for less and how that process worked and so I was a little bit disappointed in that. I didnt believe that everything was done that could have been done to ensure that they did not have future damages. I felt as though these are little children they are expected to recuperate or recover and did not take into consideration that one of my grandchildren had seatbelt underneath his neck and across his shoulder. These are scars that will forever be there as a reminder of this accident. They are both currently to ride in the front seat. The agent for us read a statement that was accepted into the file that was a definite lie. The word of an ER professional stated that the children were laughing and giggling and playing on tablets or cell phones and none of those things were present or in our possession the night during our ER visit. I will say that they fought extremely hard for my son and Im assuming that was because he ended up having to have surgery so his injuries were more massive and quite naturally that came with a lot more compensation for the firm but anyway I believe if they would do a better job with communication and not making excuses for not having someone that can answer questions once the compensation has been issued they would probably go a long way.

I dealt with Langdon Southworth and his team during the presentation of my claim in the BSA class action lawsuit. I was in a motorcycle collision a few years back where I was rear ended by another motorcycle. I was referred to Carlson by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. Not ever dealing with a law firm I had thought I was going to be represented by Russ Brown. What I didnt know was they are only a referral company and that cost me $2,500 out of my final settlement. My experience with Carlson was fine at first, then I signed the papers and things changed. Firstly, I was being represented by a Carlson branch that was 135 miles away so I never saw the firm in person. Then once they spoke to the other insurance company it was a big push to get me to sign and agree on the final settlement. Not being poor I wasnt in a hurry. They did not like that. Next came the rude calls and harrasment and I mean rude, then the threats about suing me for the money in the settlement. I told them it was like they were churning and burning clients and to my shock he said yes, thats what we are doing. Then I knew I was just a pawn for quick money. This was not a law firm that was in anyway a zealous representation for the client. This wont ever happen again if I need a lawyer. My advice; never use a referral firm and only hire a lawyer that somebody you know knows the firm and their ethics. And sit down in person with them. I have since contacted in person Russ Brown and they apologized and said they will remove Carlson from their referral list. If they did it I dont know. There are wolves out there, be smart.

After speaking to quite a few law firms in the area, I decided to trust my intuition and have Mr. Lopez represent me for a relatively difficult child custody matter. I want to highly commend the help that I received from Kinsee Tumlinson, with my case, in my opinion, she went above and beyond, in helping me to resolve an issue concerning my deceased husbands claim. She made me feel at ease during the process and walked me through it until the very end. I was having trouble receiving a link to complete his claim and the deadline was within one day. I could not receive the link and was going to give up, but Ms. Kinsee assured me she would be working to get this resolved. And guess what! Not a great experience so far as part of the 3M earplug settlement for veterans. I hired a different firm but they hired Carlson to handled the settlement paperwork. Communication from the lawyer has been impersonal (eg dear client) and they have been unresponsive to questions. I finally put my foot down and said I want to speak to the lawyer representing me, not a legal assistant, and its like pulling teeth trying to schedule a phone call. I dont feel like a valued or respected client. I dont think I would ever hire Carlson after this experience so far.

Was going through a divorce, Carlson Law firm gave me the bare minimum help they could get away with, nor would they help me with a payment plan(fixed income, with 100% disability), to hire a full time lawyer, which meant I had to go the whole divorce with no legal support and I lost EVERYTHING in my divorce. Carlson wanted $6000.00 upfront as a retainer fee, being on a fixed income I cannot afford that much upfront.

My experience with the attorney who represented me, Kyra Leal from Carlson Law Firm was abysmal. Even though, I did not require an attorney, I hired her due to saying she could bring the court hearing date sooner than the 90 days that the court sets, although she did not make it happen. False promise. On the 90th day, the court hearing was set by the state and Mrs. Leal wanted to extend the hearing for an additional 90 days and for me to plea guilty, in which at all costs I was not guilty nor felt guilty from the start. She proceeded to extend the date with the prosecutor without talking to me first. After the prosecutor did not respond, she then calls me requesting me again to plea guilty and in 90 days it can be dismissed. I told her I would be in court the next day as scheduled and will plea NOT guilty. Which I did the next day at the court hearing and the charge was dismissed.

I had the pleasure of working with Caitlyn Tellez and Gerry Avila (Killeen Office) with my auto accident where I had some medical issues. Gerry set up a time for all of us to meet at the firm, I explained what happened in the auto accident and showed pictures and explained my medical issues and concerns. They had no problem taking on my case and explained to me how the legal process worked in these types of cases. I have never been in an accident and much less needed a lawyer for anything. I was very please how fast I was able to get in to see some medical doctors and to start receiving some treatment. Caitlyn and Gerry told me up front my job was to make all my medical appointments and not to miss them and not to worry about anything else and their job was to fight for my medical treatment and compensation. And that is exactly what they did. Yes, there was several months that went by with no contact and that was to be expected because I was receiving medical care. Once the medical treatment was complete then they would go fight for compensation. Gerry would call when he needed to update me on my case and when I had a question I would call or email him, and he would get back with me in a timely manner. I let the process work just as it was explained to me in the beginning by Caitlyn and Gerry. I am very thankful I had those two working for me and on my side. Edited to shorten: I signed a contract with this firm in 2017 or 2018. I was confident in their abilities when we spoke over the phone prior to my first consultation with them. After signing the contract, they dodged my calls, they misled me about what was going on, and wouldn t tell me the actual settlement amount. An assistant slipped up and told me the amount one day but wouldn t tell me what my portion of the settlement was. These people are dishonest. My attorney was Jody D Leak. I made a complaint to the bar about him when everything was over. If you want good representation, don t look for it here.
