I have been wanting some good tender ribs, I went here and bought some today....they were horrible -- no meat on them..too much dry rub on them..nothing but fat everywhere. I will NOT be going back!!!!!!!!!!

Ordered a brisket plate and and a chicken plate and the chicken was burnt to hell and dry, then the brisket was not at all satisfying. Not to mention the baked Mac and cheese and green beans are terribly seasoned. The only good thing was the banana cheesecake pudding. Definitely not worth $44 at all

I recently visited Pettys BBQ on a Friday night around 7 PM and was left disappointed by my experience. The restaurant itself was clean, which is a positive note. However, I encountered several issues during my visit. Upon entering, I noticed only two other customers waiting for their DoorDash orders and a family seated at a table. My companion and I stood at the counter for about five minutes without being greeted by the two workers present. Despite their acknowledgement of our presence, they did not approach us to take our order. The lack of attention was surprising, especially considering the place wasnt busy at all. After waiting another five minutes without any further interaction, we decided to leave in search of another dining option. This experience indicated a concerning lack of customer service that suggests they may not fully understand how to run a business effectively. Overall, I was disappointed and would likely not return.

The staff was very friendly. Ribs was amazing. Meat was very tender. Sides were okay. Bbq sauce was wonderful. The place was very clean. I recommend ordering before if youre in a rush. I waited in line for about 20 mins. It didnt take long to get my food once I ordered. I didnt mind the wait because I was dining in. Also, the ribs were so good that Id definitely wait again. Tbh, we have some nasty bbq around. I really only like 3 other places outside of this one within 100 miles. This is the only bbq Ill eat in Killeen for sure.

1st time here. Absolutely what I was looking for when I said, I want bbq. Most other bbq places were closed for Labor Day, and my bf and I drove from Cove to check this place out. We were beyond pleased with the quality of food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and there was no wait. I recommend their brisket and banana cheesecake pudding. Definitely will be going back!

Extremely friendly people and quick service. Just dont eat here. Not sure how they got 4.3 Stars. I read the bad reviews and they matched our experience. Chicken was great. The moist brisket for all 3 of us was dry. Pulled pork and pork ribs were dry as well. Perhaps they expect customers to pour sauce over everything as the food doesnt stand on its own. Baked Mac n Cheese was flavorless. Cabbage side dish was overcooked and mushy. Cucumber kimchi was just sad. Potato salad was very sweet for those who like that. On several cases, we took one bite of different things and stopped. We threw away more food than we ate as we just didnt want to eat anymore. Be known that the banana pudding desserts are Jello Brand, and certainly not up to a restaurant quality. I think we did a disservice not telling them how bad most of the dishes were. I would expect this level of BBQ perhaps in California and not Texas, but we havent had BBQ this bad in California either. I dont think its not for trying, just not that good intentions are enough and perhaps some lessons in BBQ making are needed. Will not be back and will make sure our friends know to stay away

Whats in a name? If you want some petty a$$ bbq then waste your hard earned $$ here because these guys cant be serious. Ordered 3 sandwich platters that comes with 2 dollops because there is no way these are considered sides. Perhaps I ordered from the kids menu or appetizers because at a whopping $14 each this is what we received. This just isnt the economy to play in peoples faces. The fatty brisket was drier than TX weather. Unless youre desperate or have money to blow, avoid Unserious BBQ!!

I got catering for 45 people on 24-hour notice. Everyone was friendly and responsive, and the food was wonderful. Best brisket Ive had in Texas, the baked Mac was creamy and delicious, and everyone talked about the banana pudding for days. I will definitely be back next time Im in town.

Please dont waste your money here! I ordered $89 worth of food for the 4th of July my family and I were extremely unsatisfied with the taste and quality of the food. Meats-The chicken tasted like raw chewy cardboard and the flavor was in the skin but the skin was the chewy par. The moist brisket was dry. The ribs were tough and hard to pull from the bone, and the pepper jack sausage was OK. Just ok. Sides- The potato salad was disgusting. It was mashed potatoes with mayonnaise and sugar. The green beans are absolutely from a can and tastes exactly like someone open a can and poured it into our pint container. Lastly the baked man n cheese had no flavor...how??? It was like cheddar stucco. Definitely not a cheese pull and not creamy. Desert- Banana cheesecake pudding...this was decent but the bananas were already brown in desert container when it was given. This picture is the definition of looks can be deceiving. Customer service was good though!

My bf and I went for their free breakfast last week and this week. We are financially struggling right now and Pettys was testing their breakfast menu. Anyway, the food and the service was amazing! My bf is a Veteran and he was impressed by the display of medals and the folded American flag on the wall! We also met one of the owners last week and he was very kindhearted and courteous! Five stars. It s that good! I have the sampler plate to try it all Brisket is moist w great flavor. Pepper jack sausage was good. Ribs tender and flavorful I thought the pulled pork was a bit dry, but I could have just been me, or wrongfully compared to the brisket; so I will give it a pass and try again. My associate got the wrong thing: the sandwich, and called it average. The beans were excellent. And a must try is the fried cabbage. Even the kids will eat theses veggies!! Eximiois!!

Randomly decided to pull in here when passing and I do not regret my decision. Perry s did not disappoint. Not only is this food AMAZING (sorry I couldn t take a picture, ate it too fast) but so was the customer service. I was very impressed with the size of the sandwich and sides for the price. One thing you do not see many places in Killeen is a clean and sanitary environment. You can see into the kitchen when ordering and it is clean as well as the entire restaurant which is a major plus. I will be back time and time again. I have found a new favorite place.

Decent BBQ meat but the sauce was a bit too vinegary. Prices are way too high; $8 for a sandwich on a unbuttered, unheated bun with no sides or drink. Being located on Rancier doesnt help with attracting a crowd who can afford these prices except the soldier at Cavazos who dont seem to mind being ripped off. No offense but I dont see this place being open too long due to prices that dont match food or atmosphere quality.

Go for the meats, leave the sides. The meats are absolutely phenomenal! Brisket is moist no matter if its lean or dry. The pork ribs are smokey and flavorful. The sausage was tender. The sides leave something to miss though. Mac n cheese is bland. Green beans are okay, but they definitely come from a can. Fries are good, but they are just fries. I would definitely come back for the meat, however, I wont be getting any sides.

A solid BBQ experience. While not fancy, Pettys restaurant is well lit, organized, and clean - no sticky tables or overflowing trashcans. The four-legged sampler is a great value with a rib, pulled pork, brisket and sausage. The meat is smoky and mildly spiced, and you can have the sausage as hot or pepper jack. Be ready - the hot is hot! Enjoyable sides of pinto beans, cornbread (slightly sweet and worth the .50 cent surcharge), fried cabbage (slight sweet and crunchy) and cucumber kimchi which was a really nice surprise - crunchy with a light touch of garlic. Helpful and ethusiastic counter staff, open kitchen, and Pettys is a winner!

I had heard this was a fabulous restaurant. I ordered online and went to pick it up. I ordered the mild sausage plate with mac&cheese and green beans. Food was surprisingly awesome! Surprisingly because its off rancier and no place my family has visited on this street has been worth returning to. We are coming back here. Portions were large and prices was good. We dont eat swine so very happy sides werent made with pork. Clean and quality dining seats and tables. Kitchen was very visible and reassuringly clean. I got the 4 leg sampler with potato salad, pinto beans, fried cabbage, corn bread and peach cobbler. The first glaring thing was that the potato salad was more like mashed potatoes mixed with a little mustard/mayo. The pulled pork was dry. The brisket and the rib were ok but not mouth watering. The fried cabbage was good, they added chopped brisket for flavoring but the cabbage was smothered not fried and way too mushy for my taste. The jalapeno/jack sausage was the best thing on the plate. Pinto beans were good as well, they had chopped brisket in them as well. Cornbread was good but needed a little butter as it was a little dry. The cobbler was horrible! The crust was dense and doughy I just ate the peaches. This is a new location for them so they are working out the links so we will go back and try it again once they settle in. The employees were great though!

My business partner are in Killeen from Kentucky. Kentucky has some great BBQ and this place holds its own. Well done. One of the owners, Matt, greeted us and staff took over from there. The first thing you should know is that Matt is a retired Chief Warrant Officer with 31-years wearing the Nations cloth. Chiefs are known for being meticulous and the restaurant reflects an attention to detail that reflect a Chiefs leadership. Super clean. I had a dark local beer on tap that was fortified to my liking. For me, the sampler platter was fantastic. My partner had a pulled pork platter and he had great things to say. The potato salad is from a Korean recipe....so we had to get seconds. I regret not having my phone to catch some pics but theyd have fallen short of how appetizing the plates presented. They have a hot sauce called FIRE that you dont want to mess with. It is fire. Support local. Promote Veteran-owned businesses. Weve got two days left and were going back.

I got the sampler plate with Mac and cheese and tater salad. Mild sasuage was great. The tater salad was sweet, not a fan of sweet tater salad. Pork was moist and smokey, woulda like to be able to taste some seasonings. Brisket o asked for no fat and thats all i got and the little brisket I did get was dry and had no seasonings. All and all it was basic bbq. Nothing to write home about.

It s difficult to find good BBQ around here, most places either skimp on the portions or serve dry brisket. So I took a chance with Petty s and was pleasantly surprised with the best BBQ I ve had in the Killeen area! The brisket was perfect! I could have made an entire meal just from the pinto beans and Mac and cheese. The positions were large and the staff very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming back.

Went there twice in my visit to Ft. Cavazos. Got the pulled pork sandwich plate and the Brisket plate. Both were delicious and the two young gentlemen behind the counter were hilarious and had a good vibe between each other. The banana pudding and banana cheesecake are delicious and will put you to sleep. Definitely recommend.

I m a huge bbq foodie, but this place really missed the mark. The ribs were so tough and didn t even have good flavor so we didn t bother eating them. Tasted like they only used black pepper and then over cooked it. The green beans were really good, the pinto beans were awful, the Mac n cheese was really plain and the potato salad was ok. My bf and I were disappointed today as we attempted to pick and scrape the meat off the ribs. I can t speak on the other meat options but if you re looking for ribs, get em somewhere else.

First timer. This will be coming from two big eaters . Paid $60 total w/tip. I bought two large 4 legged specials and half of a chicken to go. I had high hopes but yall let me down. No meat on the ribs, pulled pork and chicken so dry I wouldnt even torture my dogs with it. Sausage edible-barely. Weird sweet taste in potato salad. Coleslaw just dry. Smoked meat is great! They could use a few more sides on the menu; they dont have fries. If they ask if you want bread with it, they mean 2 slices of regular, plain white sandwich bread and not cornbread. Still recommend, just know before you go.
