We went on Friday 8-24-24. And let me tell you, YOU WILL BE CRAZY NOT TO MAKE THIS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE!!! We just moved up here and we been looking for a good Mexican, American comfort food, let me tell you, we looked hard. Not realizing it was right next door to our home. The dinning room is really cute. Atmosphere, the young lady, the food, well you cant find better. And trust me I tried. So like I said you will be crazy not to eat there. Only thing I have a compliment about, is they are not open when I leave the house at 6:30 am lol. ok Im done chatting. PEOPLE JUST GO THERE. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. ( unless you are that person who compliments about everything). Great job on making us feel comfortable

The Sour Cream enchiladas and Fajitas are great! The salsa is fresh. I cant give it 5 stars because the Chicken Fried Steak is awful. Other than that one dish, would definitely recommend. Food : 3/5

Went there during the lunch time and was looking for some southern cooking. I ordered the Grilled Chicken, black eyed peas, Mac and cheese, southern string beans. When I say there was not 1oz of southern style cooking in any of the food I ordered, I am telling the truth. First the string beans came out of a can and didnt even seem to have been cooked fully. They probably added one or two onions in there and no seasoning. The mac and cheese was runny like as if they had added too much water. The black-eyed peas were can bought and was also lacking in ner flavoring. The grilled chicken also seem like it could have been cooked longer. The only thing that was good was my coke and my roll. The other part of their menu is Mexican food so I really think they might need to stay with that and take the so-called southern food off of the menu. Will not be going there ever again. But I will say that the ladies that work there were very nice.

The buildings a bit hidden away but it looks like they get most of their business for lunch. Its nestled perfectly between a bunch of office buildings. We went for dinner. The decor was very interesting and they had the three stooges playing. Overall the food was okay. I did notice most things needed more salt though. The burger was pretty good. Everything was quite affordable. The service was amazing. We might be back but most likely just for lunch. Overall, Im glad that we tried it.

This used to be a wonderful place to go, now the servers and cashier all give off the impression that they are doing you some big favor by letting you eat at their restaurant. They dont check to go orders either and tie the bags, so just be warned, check your order BEFORE you leave Last 3 times, something was wrong with they orders I placed.

Smelled like sewer. The hostess was very pleasant, and only reason I didnt put down 1* for service. The older woman bringing out the food was rude and short with us. My chicken fried steak was disgusting. Shriveled up slimy processed meat patty Id expect from a $2 microwave dinner. Obviously poor quality prepackaged frozen cafeteria grade, but charge customers 14 bucks for it. I didnt even eat it.

Food was cold. Meatloaf was dry with very little seasoning. Chicken fried steak was okay but have had better. Rice tasted old and no flavor. Fries and okra were cold and soggy. Dr Pepper that was given was off brand and sweeter than normal. Only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes. Used to come here when it was home cooking now its geared toward Louisiana cooking.

They really need to not serve home cooking and stick with Mexican food because my chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken was horrible. I am not sure what kind of meat the steak was. Great people my family used to come about 25 of us..very pleasant staff great atmosphere..the food was to die for.. I never anything i didnt like...everything great! Vegetarian options: The vegetables are fresh steamed...delicious steamed to perfection and lightly seasoned Parking: Plenty Kid-friendliness: The gave the children colors and a sheet of paper to occupy them they also have a big screen tv mounted on the wall for all of the big kids....(men) Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible i know i have a daughter with a tbi from car accident and she gets agitated and sometimes has outbursts of bad language when neuro- transmitters are misfiring they placed our 20 people bunch in a private setting. It was packed with lunch hour patrons. I expected a very long wait for service and even longer to receive our order. However, Maria took our drink order and we went ahead and ordered our food. We deferred on the chips and salsa only cause we didnt want to spoil our appetite. Took a few mins as we talked for awhile but our food was served, promptly, hot and delicious. I had the fajita plate. Great! Vegetarian options: They have different omelettes but the veggie omelette with home potatoes is our favorite. And theyre served all day long from 7am to 8pm Mon thru Sat & 7am to 4pm Sun Longer hours when COVID restrictions are removed. Parking: Theres always an abundance of parking space because Recipe is located on a very large corner lot with 3 convenient entrances. Kid-friendliness: Kids, of course, are very welcomed & happily catered to, especially, if they bring their parents. Lol! Wheelchair accessibility: Theres only one handicapped assigned parking space with with wheel chair access on the north corner of the bldg but lots of parking in front.

Ate here for the first time today. The chicken lemon rosemary is mid it needs more seasoning and the rice was served with Mexican rice. Have been dining occasionally at Southern Recipe for over 15 years. Used to be located on Rochelle. And now this location for many years. Great for calling in an order and picking up for lunch or dinner. Also has grubhub now for delivery. Mexican or American food, or breakfast all day available for when you want breakfast for dinner. And they recognize the regular customers even when youve been absent quite awhile. Highly recommend.

Been here several times, hit and miss. They have breakfast and lunch, not sure about dinner? Big menu, alot to choose from, breakfast, Mexican and home cooking. Cant go wrong with meat loaf, I think they use the same meat for chop steak, just different sauce on top. 3 sides, broccoli and cheese was ok, mashed potatoes with gravey was good, than mac b cheese, it was sour, did not like! Might be old and reheat. Service is slow even though it was not really busy when I went 11:45am.

Had food from here three times. The fried catfish is among the best I ve ever had anywhere. My wife says the same thing about the chicken flautas. Vegetables are also good, especially the fried okra. Pecan pie is fantastic.

I love this hole in the wall restaurant. Staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious if you enjoy Southern/Mexican food. The chips and salsa are the BOMB!! The menu has a variety of different dishes. Got my Father in law hooked on how great the food is, and the caring of the staff is for their customer.

Were looking for a different restaurant which was already closed for the night and stumbled across this place. There was only 2 people when we walked in the door and by the time we were seated there was another 8 behind us. Our waitress was the only one serving the dining Room as she had sent her staff home early for the night because it was slow, or so she thought. Even in spite of her having 6 tables with multiple patrons at each she did a spectacular job keeping everyone taken care of and the food brought out really quickly. The food was good the service was even better considering the circumstances and will definitely return.

This is a very inviting restaurant. The food is high quality and prices are very reasonable. Try out the country fried steak and eggs, you will not be disappointed. It was amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and the service was great.
