These guys robbed me out of 5600 I gave this law firm 7600 and they did absolutely nothing but find ways to charge me I asked them to discontinue there services over a month ago and return my remaining portion of funds and I had the feeling they where going to find every way they could to keep a good portion of my money, I asked to stop the services when my balance was 2000 now I receive my final bill for 4900 and there was absolutely no progress made in my situation. Drove for 57 minutes to attend a consulation scheduled over the phone with Mandy. On our phone conversation, Mandy asked me to complete an intake form consisting of a long full disclosure of personal and business information including social security, DOB, and more from me and my spouse whom she has not given me authorization to release. I replied to Mandy I was not comfortable giving so much information before meeting with the attorney in person to clarify a number of questions I had. That this was actually the reason for my consulation which I was happy to pay and I paid. Mandy replied it was ok and an appointment was set. When I arrived at the appointment, I was asked once again to fill the intake form which required my information and my spouse SSN, DOB and more. I reminded Mandy that on our call I already expressed I wasnt comfortable giving so much information. That I would be happy to provide it after my consultation was completed should I decide to proceed. Then she asked me to wait and that she would call the attorney and when the door of the conference room opened again was Mandy to tell me IF I was not going to fill the form there would be no consulation. I was in shock as #1, I was never told it was company policy without the intake form there would be no consulation #2, how she lied in person telling me she told me over the phone. I asked then IF she told me over the phone and I replied I would not fill that intake form until consulation was completed WHY an appointment was given to me? She could not answer. And #3, how is possible that a company with 15 years of existance dont release the consulation policy at the 1st call. An appointment should have never been given.

Update: Since I m his WIFE now - not a roommate I figured I d update again I did directly interact with the owner & my significant other signed a disclosure saying I could join a meeting he had w/the owner which we have a copy of, SO as much as Bowen wants to claim I knew nothing - I met directly with them with their client face to face, so I knew EVERYTHING. Also since they did in fact leave a snarky response condemning me in public for adultery . My testimony of how God redeemed me is free for anyone to know. Bowen, if you know the Bible so well, you d also recall that Jesus stood by a woman who was about to be stoned for adultery John 8:1-11. If you re going to throw shade at my life please make sure it s accurate since our family is 100% blended. His ex has a new baby & baby daddy prior to the signed divorce decree but were the ones committing adultery I leave you with this; Such are the paths of all who make profit dishonestly; it takes the lives of those who receive it. Proverbs 1:19 CSB Original Review: I spent awhile watching my significant other s downward spiral while using the services of this firm. All this law firm saw with him was a $$ sign, they never saw him as an actual human being, or a father with rights to his children, or a man that had served his country faithfully for years, then injured during a deployment & returned to then endure years & years of mental, physical, & emotional abuse from his former spouse. After agreeing to take on his case, they cleverly flipped the script & allowed his former spouse to continue her abuse the legal proceedings of their divorce. Literally running him into financial ruin while he was fighting for a mere snippet of time with his children. Never advocating for him on small things like that in the state of Texas having the expanded possession over standard. The lawyer assigned to his case, even after repeated correction STILL could not even get his client s name right, which his name is very common. This same attorney also made reference in regard to me in the form of derogatory names in emails to his client. Which we still have retained copies of those emails. The attorney was unassigned from his case at one point due to the request of my significant other however somehow he ended up back on the case. It was very clear that this attorney had sided with my significant other s former spouse by the comments he would make. Example; he would always state that she deserved this & that while downplaying the abuse that my significant other went through. It was by chance luck that we found the lawyer that ended up taking on my significant other s case & undoing all that Bowen Law Firm did. He was an absolute God sent Angel. When he took one look at the temporary orders that Bowen Law Firm had told my significant other was a heck of an agreement and he wouldn t get any better , the lawyer stated he wouldn t have let my significant other sign that order because it was absolute garbage & he was right. It was garbage & thank goodness that nightmare is done & over with. We re still financially unwell from Bowen Law Firm & for that, I will sing to whomever will listen. We spent 75% less on the second lawyer & that lawyer literally did more court appearances, more leg work, more emails, more phone time, more zoom meetings, more in person meetings, more filings, & he drafted the final decree IN LESS AMOUNT OF TIME which is more than Bowen ever did. Please please PLEASE do some heavy researching prior to actually committing to a lawyer. There are so many out there & there are still some genuinely GOOD hearted lawyers out there who are truly grinding it out for their clients because they know that they are human beings & they are not a dollar sign. JUST TO CLARIFY - No, I was not a direct client, but my significant other was & it directly affected my future with him. What this did to him had a lasting effect on him, me & innocent kids whom I love/protect fiercely.

Using Bowen Law Firm has been the worst experience Ive ever had in my life and I feel terrible for putting my daughters life and well being in their hands. My case is very simple my daughter lives with me the mom has bailed and hasnt filed any answer there hasnt been any resistance at all from the mother and its been 11 months and Ive paid over $7,000 not including the retainer and still not finished. We have had 2 final court appearances where its just me and my lawyer and were are just going up against air (the mother is not present at court) and we have lost both times. The way the judge explains the mistakes made by my lawyer sound pretty egregious like very simple things any lawyer should know. The first final hearing was May 13th the second June 10th now we have another date August 19th. They also have the nerve to charge me for the court hearings where the mistakes have been on my lawyer. Its been 11mo since I called them my 10yo daughter has lived with me for 13mo and Im still paying child support! This is not competent representation I have a grievance going to be filed. Many times months went by where nothing happened with my case I just continued to get $800 and $1000 bills each month and the only time anything got done is when I called upset about what was happening with my case. Its a terrible feeling to be stuck in a situation like this with your childs well being at stake I wouldnt wish this on anyone and I pray this review helps someone avoid this disaster im in right now. Edit: Ok just to be clear the mistakes being made by my lawyer in the courtroom are not nuanced mistakes and my daughter s mom has at no point tried to fight this case. In any event I think we can agree that holding myself responsible for what s been going on is in no way appropriate. It s not too late to fix this however and I very much so hope that is what happens. Also anyone reading should know they handled the issue of my attorney improperly filling out the paperwork and then not giving the other party enough notice before appearing in court and then charging me for all of that by dropping me as a client. Just imagine for a moment being represented by these scumbags before you call. DO NOT under any circumstance put the fate of your children In these people s hands. I gave a very fair account of my experience and I hope you save yourself and your children the lost sleep and stress I have had. You know things aren t going well when everyone that asks about how your case is going feels bad for you. You are absolutely correct my problem is with the cost. $12,000 and 12 months for a no answer. There was a date my case was to be finalized and you redacted my daughter s date of birth and the judge scolded you. Anyone who would like to be charged for that mistake and ongoing charges after that effectively holding the client responsible, these are the lawyers for you! Just don t say anything about it or they will charge you $2500 to file a motion to withdrawal or whatever it takes to eat your retainer. If your looking for confidence in the courtroom look no further.

Michael Mac Krocker is a terrible attorney. He doesnt know standard court procedures to file motions in Harris County. We have back to back court transcripts of him being admonished by the judge for simple paperwork mistakes. He doesnt care about his clients whatsoever. Its strictly a money grab for him. He will drag your case out as long as possible to milk you for as much money as possible. He hung my family out to dry with absolutely no remorse, simply because we didnt want to pay thousands more for his egregious mistakes that resulted in continous court appearances. Do yourself a favor and avoid this guy at all costs! Do not use this firm unless you want to be utterly embarrassed in front of the judge and opposing party. This crook stole our whole retainer fee and dropped us as a client when confronted for his poor quality of work. He is clearly an inadequate lawyer who will soon be disciplined by the state bar. Im sure they will try to give a long generic response using big words to try to justify his malpractice.

Unfortunately I can t say that I had a good experience. I had high hopes with the reviews and my initial meeting with Boe. It may have been the lawyer(s) I was assigned but I did not get anything that benefited me during the time I had retained the Bowen Law Firm and left only with a high total cost for services when I changed firms. Boe has a lot of charisma and is very likable but I did not get the same experience from the actual representation I had while with this firm. I would highly recommend searching elsewhere and for a firm that does not charge you for a retainer they do not use until your final bill. The retainer is more of a guarantee for the firm to get money towards your final bill for the services they say they provided. I can honestly say this is among the worst experiences I ve had with a business, especially in my time of need. I had a consultation with The Bowen Law Firm approximately one month ago. At the time of my consultation, I was dealing with a whirlwind of emotions, having just welcomed a newborn into my life and navigating the stressors of purchasing a new home. Under these circumstances, I was particularly vulnerable. During the consultation, I was provided with information and words of encouragement that left me feeling optimistic about the potential outcomes of my case. I was also given an overview of the retainer agreement, which included a promise of refunds for unused services. Admittedly, in my haste and with an upcoming hearing on my mind, I did not thoroughly read the retainer a mistake I fully acknowledge. I must emphasize the importance of reading such documents thoroughly; its a lesson Ive learned the hard way. Now, approximately 1 month after my consultation, my optimism was shattered. I was informed that I needed to come up with an additional sum of approximately $40,000 or possibly more to achieve the best possible outcome for my daughters mental health. Whats more, I discovered that the retainer agreement contained a specific billing clause that required me to pay additional fees on top of the already substantial retainer. While they did say they will uphold their promise to refund unused services, it will only be applied to the final bill. I reached out to The Bowen Law Firm, hoping to convey the significant challenges I was facing including unexpected hospital bills and plumbing issues, compounded by the demands of a newborn and a new home. Unfortunately, their response lacked the compassion I desperately needed during this trying time. Instead, it was a strictly legalistic response along the lines of, You signed the retainer, and thats what it says. The fact that they already possess more than double the funds necessary to cover the bill they presented to me adds to my frustration. Despite my pleas for leniency or understanding given my circumstances, they have shown no willingness to reconsider. My stress levels are through the roof, and its disheartening to experience such a stark contrast between the friendly and compassionate demeanor during the initial consultation and the subsequent handling of my situation. This has been a costly and emotionally draining lesson for me, but I hope others can learn from my mistakes. Regardless of how friendly, compassionate, or kind an attorney may appear, always take the time to thoroughly read and understand their retainer agreement. Your future peace of mind may depend on it. 9/19/23 - Response to Owners Reply Like your doctor that delivered your baby... we need to be paid for our hard work, too. Thats the thing, the retainer I paid was double the amount I was invoiced. I understand replenishing retainers after a certain threshold, a practice typically used by law firms that bill by the hour. I understand the need to get paid... so pay yourself from the high retainer fee you charged me. ...four our hard work, too. During my mediation, all we did was copy the Postnuptial Agreement I drafted for me and my ex. It took 3.5 hours to get that done. Meanwhile, when the mediator was in our virtual Zoom room, my attorney was chatting her up about her home, restaurants in her area, other professionals in the industry, etc. Finally, when discussing the situation about my biracial daughter being exposed to racist comments by a family member, my attorney said (not verbatim), We all have that family member who is a little racist, probably named Billy Bob. No. Im sorry. We dont all have racist family members. I truly didnt appreciate that response when I was talking about the mental health of my daughter. Nor were you asked for $40k... I didnt say I was asked for that amount of money. I said I was told I would need to come up with about that amount of money to achieve the results I believe are in my daughters best interest. Why wasnt I made aware of this during the consultation?
