I went in one place to order a beer so I could sit outside and smoke, she opened the Corona, put the lime in it and said $11 I walked out Came here and got a draft beer for $3.50 & a good stick for $8.99 Awww, the life!

Had some time to kill in Houston, found this place by googling Irish Pub. The atmosphere is decent- nice looking, standard Irish pub, but the bartender was very off-putting. She was very condescending and clearly thought we didnt notice. She made a few references to our age- my wife and I are over 50- and thought she was being clever. Not appreciated. It would also be nice if a pub actually offered food- all you can get here is frozen pizza, not really traditional Irish fare. I doubt Id ever come back.

The bar is located on Main Street, in the heart of Downtown. Theres no parking, but this is Downtown, so that should be expected already. They have a lot of beers on tap and a full bar. The bar is well decorated and has a nice seating area. The homeless can be a problem if sitting outside. Every time I come here, the staff has been polite.

Couldnt dance at the 80s place down a few blocks, so my husband and I wanted to just get drinks and head back to the hotel. Passed some clubs, but decided to come back here to the Irish Pub we passed. So glad we did! Music rockin, great bartender, chill old school masculine leather and dark wood vibe. On my second round right now, and Im so glad we came in!

A true Irish pub in the middle of downtown Houston. I was introduced to Jameson Irish whiskey here 14 years ago! When I asked why everyone was drinking Jameson, the bartender responded; Ai, you ve never had a Jameson, lad? The first one is on me, the rest will be on you. Thus began my love affair with Irish whiskey.

Me and my wife experienced some heavy discrimination last night. We walked in to the bar and soon as we got to the bar we were told to leave with no reason why. We were also the only black ppl there. I will be reporting to HR and the BBB.

This is the place, the place where me & my friend fell in love with Scotch Whiskey, we ordered ever expensive shot they had, $600 bar tab later it was love for the rest of our life, this was about 12 years ago but till this day I will never forget this place or all the nights Ive spent in it, Irish Pub until my death ill always remember you

Over last few years, this bar on Main Street side of Rice Hotel morphed from a quiet Scotch & Wiskey haven into craft beer mug-alike. Covid era crowd is younger and boisterous, and also more diverse -- think Houston compared to Ireland. Wait staff know their drinks; your Fav Irish drams are mostly there. To combat Houston heat, Shay Mac added 3-gal lemon/water dispensers for self service by customers -- truly an oasis for the weary walker. Older patrons can still reprise the wood-paneled, cozy neighborhood bar setting on weeknites.

A couple of my friends and I made a trip to Houston to watch a Texas Rangers game. We stayed the weekend to experience the atmosphere and see how the Houston experience differed from the Dallas experience. Which is where we are from. We decided to do a pub crawl and we started off here at Shay. It was a pleasant experience and the bar tender Tiffany was amazing. We wound up leaving to go experience the nightlife. We came back to this place because this was the best experience, and Tiffany took such good care of us. I highly recommend this bar for your Houston experience.

Far from being a regular, but when the Mrs and I are in the downtown area well come in for a couple of drinks, and snacks. We are whiskey drinkers, and I enjoy the variety they carry. The club sandwich was delicious; though I didnt think much of Southwest eggrolls. Hey, who comes to an Irish pub expecting good Tex-Mex snacks, anyway?
