I would highly recommend Monks Law Firm for your legal needs. I was referred to Mr. Monks by a co-worker who has used his services in the past. I had a court appearance this morning for a double offense traffic violation in the Cullen courthouse . The constable was present. The attorney representing me from the firm was Kathryn Mccredy. She was way more confident than I was! Judge Wanda Adams, as pleasant as she appeared, was there to do business. My case was dismissed!! Such a relief! Thanks Monks Law Firm!

I received a call from Pat and while I was explaining my situation, he immediately started talking and yelling over me while I was talking. I asked him to allow me to speak. He continued to talk and yell over me and then hung the phone up in my face. He is rude and very disrespectful! I would not recommend him.

I found out about Mr. Monks through a YouTube video of his and was impressed with his credentials and knowledge. I decided to reach out to his office and got an answering service as it was late in the day. After the woman I spoke with passed on my message, Mr. Monks personally called me only minutes later. A lawyer friend advised me to hire someone for my traffic ticket through off the record app. I got matched with Pat Monks and his team. Everyone on staff was always super responsive and even Pat Monks himself always texted or called me when I had questions. He gave me a run down of how court was going to go since I ve never been in court before. He even called and texted me when I had questions when he was out of town on a Friday. I made a phone call to this firm and within a few rings they picked up, they where in the middle of something at the moment but made a point to let me know that they would call back as soon as possible. I have no idea why I am even giving them a one star. I assigned them as they are the ones my company refers to. They delayed the court date by 13 months yes more than a year, assigned it to an incompetent lawyer (Not clear, not friendly as a defending lawyer and saved the folks represented by Monks for the very last) who represents the law Firm along with a bunch of other law firms and I still paid money to court on top of the regular law firm fee . Four hours later, I am still at the courthouse.

Do NOT hire Monks Law Firm to probate a will. Its bad enough that the bereaved have to go through all the arduous legal hoops and processes to handle the estate of a recently lost loved one, but dealing with this law firm made it so much worse. Our engagement with Monks Law Firm went awry quickly through poor communication, which consisted of no communication at all sometimes, followed by requests for immediate turnarounds from us; asking for information that wed already clearly provided (they told us that they get hundreds of email a day, so they couldnt be expected to keep up with each one); multiple, unnecessary, confusing email threads (that often omitted one of the two of us involved) discussing information that had already been provided; and meandering, detailed explanations of obvious matters, such as how to find contact information in an email signature. But my family had already signed on with them, so we thought we should just continue through the process with them while dealing with our grief instead of starting over elsewhere. After a month of no progress, we wrote to Monks Law Firm and told them that we no longer wished to work with their firm, and directed them not to proceed with filing the probate application. The paralegal who was handling our case asked us to change our mind, but we politely (and clearly) declined. The next day, against our explicit wishes, Monks Law Firm began work on our case and filed the application with the court and had it accepted by the county. Despite their seeming efforts to lock us into their services, we expressed our displeasure and requested a refund and immediate stop. (We received only a partial refund, and we were told that additional fees would be required to undo the filing they submitted against our wishes.) Our family engaged a new firm to take over our case. After a brief conversation with us and a bit of digging on their end, the new firm informed us that we in fact did not need to go through months of probate that Monks Law Firm had advised; instead, we could file a single, immediate document to resolve our case. Any other law firm could and should have looked into the court s records to see the legal legwork our deceased family had already done to make our lives easier prior to their passing, like the new firm did. So not only did we receive poor quality work from Monks Law Firm, we received (lazy at best, malicious at worst) legal advice that would keep us unnecessarily engaged with them for a greater amount of time for a greater amount of money. I m not typically one to write reviews, but taking advantage of grieving people feels worthy of one, so others don t have to go through what my family did.

I received a ticket during the lockdown and never received any letter nor court date letter and wasn t on their online system as well which they charged me this year for not appearing in the court plus two tickets. And on top of that, they had put a hold on my driver license which the firm cleared it just within few hours and were also able to remove my court fees and processing the fight for my ticket against them. No one likes traffic tickets. I got my first traffic ticket in 14 years, and I found Monks through OffTheRecord. They took what could have been annoying, time consuming and stressful and made it easy. I was able to get a deferment and keep the ticket off my insurance so I m happy with the results. Would not reccomend if you are innocent of a crime. Mike will just reset you over and over and work a deal with DA that you could have gotten from public defender. I had to plead guilty to something I did not do. If you are truly innocent, I suggest finding a real attorney.

Lets go back 2016 i get ticket I call monks law firm everything cool I pay they go to court reset twice ok no problem didnt here anything again so I thought things got taken care of good dam lawyer today 11/6/2020 I get phone call from officer with outstanding warrant and had to pay 700 to get my license back all because this law firm failed to have simple communication with its customer and failed to keep there end of the deal I understand they have bigger cases than traffic ticket but you could of said no to my case from the get go and I would of happily looked somewhere else

I received a referral and the attorney was very uncooperative. You cant predict a judgment without all the facts. Im disappointed since he chose to support slum lords instead of providing advice. Also, we had no order in our conversation. Maybe someone should check his law license.

In march Texas DOT pulled me into a scale house and found what they thought was a brake our of adjustment and wrongly issued me a citation. I made it clear to the trooper that he was wrong. I know not to argue with the police so I just made my disagreement known and signed the ticket. Leo handled my ticket and got my citation dismissed and got me one day of deferred adjudication. Great people here will be doing business here again and anytime TexDot wants to jack with me.

Recently I was trying to resolve a parking ticket out of Houston and after being told no by numerous law firms out of Houston and San Antonio I was finally connected with the Monks Law Firm. I spoke with Mr Monks personally and advised him of my situation, 3 parking tickets for the same violation. I told him I missed the deadline to dispute online and that i was from San Antonio and would not be able to go in person, he asked when i received the ticket and was aware that the deadline (before late fees) was the next day. He had no hesitation taking my case and said he would go the very next day. He in fact went the next day and was able to get my fees reduced by MORE THAN HALF!! Very respectable person over the phone and never once shamed me for waiting so long to get the issue resolved. Will highly recommend him to anyone i know in Houston that has a traffic issue A+++

I highly recommend Monks Law Firm. To begin with Mike has a demeanor that will put even the most anxious defendant at ease, help calm your nerves, and his smile says he will guide you through this process from beginning to end, never leaving you wondering, well, what do I do know? Second, Mike s Paralegal, Shanna is the compassionate arm (8 arms really) that makes it possible for Mike to be as effective as he is. You ll notice her not only by here grace as she strides in quickly behind a busy-body Mike Monks, but the aura of peace she bestows upon clients, especially first timers. That being said she knows her stuff as well and is one of the top paralegals in Houston. Finally, how could one review Monks Law Firm without acknowledging good old Pat Monks. Pat mainly handles civics cases, but has a way with people, that I recommended entrusting him with your traffic tickets and moving violations and watch the District Attorneys and Judges work with him (with an extremely high success rate) S soon as he starts flashing those dimples. Now, that s not to say pay isn not sharp as a tack and will go to war for a client when need be. Overall monks Law Firm is an excellent law for for all sorts of legal needs. UPDATE: Pat Monk saw my review and called me from Germany. He was out of the country for a legal conference and had another firm covering his traffic court cases while he was gone. Linda with his office also called. Both were courteous and professional, more in keeping with my expectations. Pat agreed to refund the $100 for handling the ticket. Five stars for customer service and follow-up. Although my ticket wasnt dismissed, I was ultimately happy with the way this firm handled things and would use them again. Standing behind the service you provide and making things right is rare these days. If I could give zero stars, I would. Court started at 8:00. At 11:00 I was the only person in the courtroom. My attorney was the last lawyer to show up (9:15 a.m.). My police officer showed up and I was told she would find him and talk to him. At 10:30, still no lawyer. An attorney from another law firm showed up at 11:00, allegedly helping out my attorney. I waited so long, the judge felt bad and reduced the Deferred Disposition from $229 to $180. The lawyer for the other firm was extremely rude when I questioned where they had been and why I was left waiting an hour after everyone elses case had been disposed of. I could have done Deferred Disposition myself when I got the ticket and been 60 days into it. Instead, I paid Monks $100, the attorney was late, barely spoke to me and then was a no show on the follow-up.
