We had a vow renewal over the weekend for my parent s 40th wedding anniversary and it was beautiful. The venue was amazing and beautifully decorated. The venue was nice and cool despite the high temperature outside. I opted for Kari and her team to complete the decor and make some choices on some of the decor on my behalf, which came out beautiful. Kari was very kind, understanding, accommodating, and responsive anytime I contacted her about anything. Our guests were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I will definitely use The Houston Room again for any future events!

Writing this review took me 3 months, but I wanted to spread the word about Kari Houstons amazing job. Ive never booked a venue, but I have seen many of them on social media. I had no idea that I would book a venue to commemorate my mothers passing. It was hard, painful, and a feeling that never leaves your soul. Kari Houston was a kind, professional, and caring person throughout the entire situation. We were truly fortunate to find her venue after rejecting overpriced venues, and there are no words to describe how blessed we felt. The terms of her contract and rules were clear and precise. I booked the venue before seeing it in person because the virtual website told me everything. The customer experience over the phone was amazing! The setup was gorgeous. She picked out everything for me and delivered on time! If youre curious, yes, Ill book it in the future. Hell yes, would I recommend it? The loss of my mom was too fresh of a reminder for me to post any photos. The reality is what you see is what you will receive! Kari Houston, I am grateful for everything and more! Beautiful venue but highly don t recommend. Service was good until day of event. Was told one thing about the time which made me book here and things changed the DAY OF and apparently no one knew what I was talking about. The team that came in, Tenesha and a Hispanic lady were so rude and told my party we need to get out while we were cleaning and argued and tried to physically fight with the guest and dj who is my brother. They caused a huge commotion when everything could have been settled with a professional approach and communication, instead their unprofessionalism and lack of knowing how to conduct business put a damper on what was a special day. Horrible experience, do not recommend

I rented The Houston Room - Premier Event Venue from Kari on May 2, 2023 for a 70th birthday party scheduled for October 7, 2023. I asked Kari to complete the decorations for the tables and different shades of blue and silver for the balloon arch. They also decorated a gift table and dessert table. The uplighting also added to the ambience in the room. When I made an appointment to see the room, it was very nice. Prior to the event; Kari and Michelle had the floors tiled in the main room which added to how beautiful the room was for my party. Kari and her staff did a wonderful job on what I requested for my decorations and my party was a complete success. The bartendar and the security guard were awesome as well, which added to how great the evening was. I really appreciate the professionalism and ease of the payment plan for my event. Thank you again Kari and Michelle! I look forward to any future events at your venue.

I just had my baby shower here last week. The venue is well kept and definitely met all of my needs. Even things like the chairs added a nice touch to my decor. The venue owner, Kari, was very easy to work with. She was very thorough with communication and answered every single question I had. If you re looking for decor, I highly recommend La Chantel which is affiliated with the venue. Every guest had nothing but great things to say about my decor and wanted to know who decorated. The Houston Room is like a one-stop shop. They have everything you need and want for your event. I will definitely be back for my next event!!

I hosted my daughter s baby shower at The Houston Room. Kari was very helpful with a pleasant demeanor from the very first time I contacted the venue to inquire about reserving the venue to the very end the event. She was very prompt in her responses whenever I reached out with questions or concerns. My event was on a Saturday morning/ afternoon and I received an email notification on the following Monday that my refund deposit had been processed. Be sure to read your contract thoroughly and abide by all rules. I will definitely host another event at The Houston Room as well as refer the venue to my family and friends.

This event center was recommended by a friend. We booked it for a co-ed bridal shower. The booking process and consultation was great. The room accommodations were setup as expected. The only issue we had was the air conditioning. It did not cool down until 11:30 pm so a few guests opted to leave the event early due to being uncomfortable. I do recommend this venue, but the air conditioning needs to be on at least two hours before the event. I realize that it s been extremely hot, but with the money you pay you expect to be comfortable. That s my reason for 4 stars.

If you can avoid booking here, I would highly recommend you to do so. The venue may appear to be nice aesthetically; however, the amount of unprofessionalism Ive had to deal with from the owner is just not worth it. I booked this venue in June from 10-4pm (w/ an extension request of 45 min which was not honored) and the owner booked another party to start at 4pm. Instead of scheduling enough time between reservations to allow preparation for the next, her and her team proceeds to interrupt my event around 3:25pm (definitely before 3:30pm) so they can clean up/prep for the next party. Removing table decorations while guests are seated is not something the guests should have to experience, especially when the event was still taking place. Also, although the owner mentioned she goes by the contract, I paid for a microphone (as included in the contract) which the owner did not provide and a security deposit which was never returned for unknown reasons. The owner never provided a reason for the security deposit to be held even after a request was sent 4 days after the security deposit was supposed to be returned. AVOID.

I had the best experience hosting a sweet 16 at The Houston Room. The space is perfect. It is a blank slate and you can make the room whatever you want it to be based on your decorations. The owner is wonderful to work with. As I told her she is like the Easy button- she is pleasant, helpful and accommodating. She works with you to make sure your event is exactly what you want it to be and ours definitely was. It is a night my daughter will remember forever!! Thank you Houston Room!

I first meant Kari almost 7yrs ago when she was recommended as a wedding planner. Her and her team were awesome, they helped keep my somewhat over 500 guests in order, making the wedding flawless. Kari makes sure to listen to the needs of her clients and most important she deliver your dreams! So of course when she opened the Houston Room event center I could do nothing but take all my business there. I threw my good friends baby shower at the Houston and to was too cute and perfect. They are very accommodating and make the process easy and as stress free as possible. Just like my wedding the staff continues to help make visions come true! If I could give them 10 stars I would!! Kari and her team went above and beyond to make sure that my aunts 60th surprise party was everything we needed and more. Hosting an event with majority of our guests coming from out of town is already stressful enough so having a hassle-free experience was much needed and appreciated. We received so many compliments from our family and friends and my aunt was in love with the decor and set up. Thank you so much. On Friday, I attended an event at The Houston Room and I was surprisingly disappointed. The website is beautiful and the decor options are plentiful, but the customer service was sour and unacceptable. Not to mention, the pricing for the rental decor items is ridiculous; I d even call it highway robbery. The acrylic stands listed under other rentals for $30 each were dirty, scuffed and wobbling. At one point, 3 people were trying to reposition one of the stands, since it was broken and wobbling uncontrollably. One of the toilets in the men s restroom was broken and had to be serviced prior to the party starting and well into the party. The gentleman who was fixing the toilet seemed nice enough, but he women who seemed to be there just to supervise him, was rude, dressed unprofessional and was taking pictures of things in the main room during the party. When asked if she needed help with something, all she said was a snarky I work here, I can photograph whatever I want . This was exceptionally odd to me since we were also not only being recorded by the on property camera, but watched live for most of the party. I arrived at the party at 7:07pm the bartender walked in at the same time as me. I also read on the website that the venue supplies the bartender, and the bartender supplies cups and ice. Well she showed up late with no ice. She was in Adidas sweatpants and a black crop top. This was a formal event it is utterly unacceptable for the bartender to be dressed that way. I have a TABC license, I d love for someone to explain to me why the bartender took a GIFTED bottle of top shelf tequila that was UNOPENED/COMPLETELY SEALED and said that it could only be on the bar based on Texas state law. Then She proceeded to OPEN the bottle even after she was told it was not for the party. Then the audacity of her to then remind guests to tip her every single time she served them. In addition to rearranging the already decorated bar to accommodate her TWO tips jars AND phone screen with her cashapp. I had second-hand embarrassment for her. The security guard was late. The event started at 7pm. The alcohol was supposed to be ready to serve right at 7pm, if the venue REQUIRES you to have security AND only allows their own security, why would he not be there at 7pm? He was an off duty cop, which is preferred, but was it included in the security guard fee to feed him multiple plates of food (since he inquired about getting a plate multiple times) or to pay for him to be on his phone constantly? As a business owner, you have to know when you don t have the right people in the right places for your business to have continued success. Everyone makes mistakes, but only people with integrity own up to the mistakes. Kari, you should reevaluate your chosen team, and ask yourself what your ROI is with each person. Your team is only as strong as your weakest link.

I would recommend The Houston Room to anyone looking for a upscale and sophisticated event center. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and talented. Not only does she own a wonderful space but also offers the best event planning services that can compliment your needs and style. The parking lot was large enough to accommodate all my guest. Plus the fact that it was free was an extra bonus. Kari was excellent with responding and setting up my event. She is very professional and full of knowledge and style. One of the bathrooms did not work, you cannot plug in anything without the entire building circuit going out, you will be recorded and watched live during your event, the staff included with pricing such as bartended and security will be very LATE, there will be stuff there that cannot be moved that is NOT shown when booking such as a huge green and gold Christmas tree and the venue owner gave attitude the entire planning process and just wasn t a easy person to work with. I do not recommend planning here for important events.

The bartender and the security guard was late. Toilet was broken too. I don t recommend this venue. The owner literally made this way more difficult than needed. Went to this venue this past Sunday for 2 of my friends baby shower venue is really nice ,the layout is good . Parking lot has plenty of it .. But the reason why my review is low is because of our experience with the security guard. Idk if hes contract by a 3rd party company or is a direct employee. So the guy kept insisting we should start packing up at 8pm , he kept flickering the lights which I think is very disrespectful and annoying.. to my knowledge my friends had the place rented out till 9pm. Which i would completely understand if he started telling us to wrap it up closer to 9pm. Picking up for a small venue wont take to long . And if it go over for a few minutes as a client I wont see the big deal but thats just me.. its the small details that helps you retain clients and possibly get new ones. Thank you

A1+ venue for such a diversity of events. It s a blank canvas yet elegant and sophisticated while also still giving room for art and creativity to happen. Not to mention, they have access to a big parking lot that is free, which is a major plus. It s also in the cut yet still easy to access. Kari is such a beautiful light to work with. Very professional, sweet, and fun. She completes the package of having an excellent experience throughout the rental process and beyond. Highly recommend. I ll absolutely be back again.
