BEWARE! This place is very ODD. We tried to book a room for Saturday 09/28/2024 . The FAQ page said all rooms are private but then when you try to book online it states that you need to buy all tickets to make it private (AKA not private). I tried calling but the number only takes you to automated message giving you information you can find on google/website (I.e. opening hours, location). So we decided to drive up and book up front, it showed availability on the site but we wanted to make sure it was private first, we were okay with waiting for next available game. We went in asked to book, we were informed you can only book online, which is fair. There are 2 of us wanting to play, my boyfriend and I have done many escape rooms, just us 2 with no issues then we were informed that conveniently for THEM on Saturdays they only book rooms with 4 people so we would have to pay entry for 4 people even though it was just us 2. I looked everywhere on the FAQ and on the booking site and no where does it state this you can even go on the site and book for 2 people with no warning that you won t get to play. It seemed very off and like they were trying to take advantage of the situation. Overall, there s way better escape rooms out there so don t even waste your money here. The escape hunt is pretty close to this location and much better, and a little bit further out exit lab Houston is great!

Horrible experience. Did the Jurassic Park room and paid over $100 for 3 people. Done tons of escape rooms in the past and had great experiences. This was the first time trying Escape the Room. Room was vague and no clues that worked correctly. Couldn t get A clue until 10 minutes passed but there was no timer to show the remaining time. No backstory told. The game master kept changing and if a clue was given it was cut off halfway through. Waited about 15 minutes with no help. Worst experience in an escape room ever.

I ve done a few escape rooms this summer with friends. This was the poorest run room by far. We did the agency which they said was a harder room. When we started we noticed a clue that seemed to be broken and asked the cameras what to do. They said nothing. Come to find out it truly was broken and they didn t let us know until we had 5 minutes left on our timer. Stood around clueless for over 40 minutes with no help from the workers. Also whenever we solved a clue there was no feedback of something unlocking or opening. All around just a bad experience and a waste of money. I ve read reviews about other rooms that were fine but I ve seen a lot of negative stuff regarding the staff which is where my problems lie. The staff seemed to not care about making the room ready before we got there. When we walked in we stood around for about 10 minutes before somebody finally walked in to greet us. There were no instructions on the room except for basically don t break anything. They failed to mention broken things that lead to our negative experience.

We went to the Huston one in Midtown for the Jurassic Escape. For the amount they charge you would think they would properly reset the room for the next group. Half of the puzzles were unlocked we spent half the time trying to figure out where a key went and what the point of a camera. Turns out the camera is to be used to see a key that you need to unlock the door but in the low light and the door is already opened. The main piece you need to solve the puzzle was also unlocked and open.We even tried asking when we discovered it and tried asking the voices in the sky we got no response. Very poorly ran. Booked the theater that morning. When we arrived for our game, before game time, nobody in the lobby. We were then told to pick another game because we weren t able to do the one we booked?? Apparently it was broken all day, but nobody bothered to inform us of that fact until game time AND we were still allowed to book a broken game. We chose the agency instead. The room was falling apart and had no atmosphere. Majority of the stuff in the room are just red herrings. Several tickets, papers, and cyphers were meaningless. A myriad of locks just for show. A set of bar taps on the back wall with an accompanying sheet of paper that corresponds with it apparently not apart of the game even though our game guide kept GIVING US CLUES TO IT! We escaped barely. There s no story or narrative, nothing in the room helps you understand what to do next. It s just mediocre puzzles in a poorly designed room. It s not worth the price at all.

This establishment is poorly managed. When we arrived no one greeted us and we finally knocked on the door where they have the cameras and microphones for the rooms. It was basically a bunch of young adults just hanging out and having a chill session. This proved even more true once we got into the Jurassic Room. The person who was our game master never said his name asked if we had done a room before or anything. Basically told us we couldnt climb or pull on things and good luck. Good thing my husband and I had done escape rooms before otherwise we would have been out of luck. After our first clue at the 10 minute mark we spent the next 30 minutes trying to figure things out. Since we were with my nephews (one who is on the spectrum) we wanted this to he fun for them and be about them trying to figure things out. We asked for a clue about 10 minutes after the first one and absolutely no response from the game master. Literally stood in front of the cameras waving and yelling for attention. Got zero help. Finally at 20 minutes left we got asked is we needed a clue, uh yeah only been asking and talking to yall with no response. Clearly they were more busy hanging out than paying attention to our room. The room itself was falling apart and had literally trash from previous guests. Picking up used tissue bout did me in! After spending $170 I expect great customer service and we did not get that at all. The game master was kind enough when we did interact but not a great quality for sure. Spend your money elsewhere.

I was extremely disappointed. My granddaughter that i only had for a few hours on May 18th went to this Escape room because it was something she had been wanting to do for a very long time. So we get there at 4:50pm. We wanted to do the Theater room, but was told that due to the storm 2 days ago it was not working and the only one available for right now was the Jurassic room. So I told them thats fine, well do it. Then I was told I would have to buy 4 tickets because they wont do it for 2 people. So I had to buy FOUR TICKETS. Then a we were going through the room, the guy kept coming on the intercom informing us that certain things didnt work and certain videos didnt work and certain things were not working completely right. So first we were told that the Theater room was not working, but that the Jurassic room was the only one working. But if you knew that a lot of things were not working in the Jurassic room, why did u not only make me buy FOUR TICKETS, but at least inform me that a lot of things were not working before making me buy FOUR TICKETS. I would think that since the room was not working properly, you should have let me and my granddaughter go in with just purchasing two tickets since we were not going to be able to experience the room as it would normally be when it is fully operating correctly. Extremely poor customer service and disregard for doing what is right.

Horrible service. Their website glitched after I had gone to it beforehand and then revisited without being able to select the city I wanted to and made the reservation at the incorrect branch. Need to work on fixing their website, Im an IT guy, know what Im doing. Refuse to give refund will be filing a charge back with Amex. Learn customer service. 4 guys wouldve given tons of business here with other friends, we play many escape rooms, now cant wait to tell people to avoid this location.

I brought a group of 11 (ages 20s) and it was fun. We did The Apartment and almost beat the record with zero hints. I think The Apartment is suitable for children and elderly since it was slightly easy, at least compared to the 10+ people escape rooms I ve previously done (such as Escape Game - Playground ). Excellent service; they helped me manage my booking easily. However, Escape The Room TX looks like a literal apartment on the outside and was difficult to locate at first.

We went and did the outbreak room and one of the machines was not working properly we used many hints because we thought we were doing it wrong, after using all of the hint as realized we were doing it correctly but the machine was messed up. This took almost the entire hour and when we told the workers all they said was oh sorry we spent a whole lot of money to play a game that was broken just to get a sorry. They could have given us some of our money back or a coupon or let us do a different room but no. Don t go here. A lot of there stuff is broken don t waste your money.

I am an official Escape Artist in that I ve done over 75 rooms in 4 different states. I am always looking for another good game. Doing the games at Escape the Room has been a wonderful addition to my escape game experience. A very important part of the experience is the Game Master and working with Carissa was AMAZING! She is very focused on the success of the gaming experience with all the patrons and she does an OUTSTANDING JOB all the way around paying attention to every detail. . I did teo rooms with Carissa and both were enjoyable experiences with successful escapes. It takes a special person to work at an Escape Room and Carissa has a passion for her job and she is definitely on her way to upper management in the future! She is one of the best examples of how game masters should act to optimize the best experience for everyone participating. I ll be back for more at Escape the Game Houston.

This was my second trip here. The first room I did was okay, but the one I did more recently (The Apartment) was extremely disappointing and bad. It felt very poorly thought out, the quality of the decor and theming was abysmal, and it had virtually no puzzle aspect to it. It was almost entirely finding stuff in ridiculous hiding places with no reason to believe itd be hidden there. It wasnt fun at all and I felt bad spending $95 on it.

We paid $230 and didnt get anything we paid for. Absolutely embarrassing for several reasons. 1) Made a reservation for my family from out of town a week in advance to find out the room we reserved was not ready and we had to pick between 2 remaining rooms no one wanted. It can happen, so wed just go along with it we thought.. 2) Shortly after we started the alternative room, we were kicked out bc it was reserved for a different group... 3) So we had to start over again in the last escape room no one wanted, but some of the clues were already solved/unlocked and the secret door was already open.. like wth? Destroyed the whole experience for my family. The guy said in that case we just get a head start... This also made the game frustrating bc we didnt know if clues we found were connected to the stuff already pre-solved, or if they were for new things to find. 4) Later something else we were supposed to find wasnt powered on, so the room wasnt even solve-able until then. When we arrived no one was around to greet us, and when they did he looked like he just woke up, which Im assuming is connected to why none of the rooms were ready. Idk how they could still charge us that much and not provide what we paid for, then additionally kick us out another room, then make us settle for one that was already partly solved.. absolute waste of money.

I do not recommend playing with this company! I took my family (ages 17-66) during Thanksgiving weekend and we had a terrible experience. We did the Outbreak room in Midtown, Houston which had too many technical difficulties and was one of the hardest rooms. I wish there was a ranking system on the website so that I would have know to pick a less difficult room for our first escape room experience. Other members of the family had done escape rooms before and they said their experiences were vastly different. We didnt get any help from our game master. At one point he told us that there was nothing he could do to help us and that we need to figure it out alone. We were trying but the computers were not responding. Turns out the computers had froze so we wasted 15 mins trying to figure out clues on a frozen computer. When the game master reset the computer it took an additional 5 minutes to get the computers back up and they still didnt properly work. The game master never full closed our door so we just left when nothing was working. When the game master stopped us in the courtyard he had no answer to any of our questions as to why things happened. Very unprofessional and we will not be coming back!

I ve been to the Woodlands location 2 times and others and have had a blast! This was the absolute worst waste of money and one hour that myself and 7 family members can t get back. Nothing worked in the room, the game master was absolutely horrible. He wasn t even paying attention to us at all. We played the Outbreak room, which is a difficult room, but when the guy doesn t pay attention and we had a walkie talkie he gave us to talk because the had technical difficulties . They also had technical difficulties w the game. Found out at the end none of the machines worked. Dont waste your money

I do not recommend playing with this company! The Theater room had way too many technical difficulties and ruined our experience. Many electronics malfunctioned and the room was not set up properly from the beginning. When we reached the end and knew the final code with 15 minutes left the safe locked us out (which we were not aware it would do). We stood there for 10 minutes with a broken safe just waiting for the guide to say something and he never did. When the time ended and the game guide came in he had no answer to any of our questions as to why things happened. He blamed us and the previous worker for setting the room up wrong Very unprofessional and we will not be coming back!

We were visiting from out of town and have went to many escape room and unfortunately this was not a great experience. There were many faulty things in the theater room and when we ask questions they were never clearly answered. There was a safe in the room that we were never told how to properly open. We sat there for 15 min waiting for the game master to come in the room because it wasn t working but we had the correct code the whole time.

Did The Apartment escape room. It was a cool concept and had great potential but essentially all it involved was finding numbers around the room and trying them in about 8 different combinations locks. At one point we unlocked a cabinet that was seemingly empty. The game master insisted the key was inside it. We finally found it hidden behind the door of the cabinet in the corner. There was also a safe which was had a sign stating we only get three tries at opening it. We saved it for last but the combination we tried was not working. The game master told us we needed to press # after pressing the numbers. These felt like sneaky tactics designed to make us waste time/clues. Luckily there were unlimited clues because we probably wouldn t have escaped without them. It also seemed like the game masters weren t really paying attention because when we would ask for a clue, they would say Have you done xyz yet? or would give us a clue that was the last thing we had just done. Overall it was very underwhelming and not worth the price. It just seemed kinda lazy

I love escape rooms usually and rarely have anything bad to say but please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. This experience was absolutely terrible. Hector was our game master and he was very dry and didn t follow along at all. When asking for hints he would ignore us and come back ten minutes later to give a clue that was completely irrelevant. We told him some of the equipment was not working after trying for thirty minutes with the right code and he said damn ..try it one more time. And it magically worked. This was a total waste of money and time. There are much better places to go with much better customer service.

Great group activity!!! The more people you book for, the less you pay per person!! :) Would recommend having at least 3 or 4 people per group, but having 6-8 people per room booked is ideal!! Try booking The Apartment if you want a beginners level game experience while still being challenged.

After escaping from a fantastic room out in Katy, my group was itching for another room. Some of us had done The Dig at Escape The Room back in 2019 and had a fantastic experience that we wanted to share with the rest of the group, and man how the room has deteriorated. A puzzle with moving pieces had gotten rough around the edges that added to its difficulty. The lights in part of the room were not on, so we figured we had to finish this puzzle to get the lights on. When we asked for assistance, the employee proceeded to rapidly walk us through the ENTIRE room. The lights wound up actually being broken and it was expected that we use our phone lights, even though it was communicated earlier to not use our phones for photos or videos at the start. We escaped 22 minutes into the full hour, having done maybe half a puzzle. The employees gladly took our money for what was a slow walk through a decrepit room. I was contacted and offered a voucher for a free session for our group, but we declined and requested a refund since a few of us had done most of their rooms and had no confidence that the others would be any better. We were told wed be contacted about our refund; we have heard nothing since. Tl;dr my group of six handed some folks $200 to walk into a room for 20 minutes.

We were disappointed with our escape room experience in The Dig 2, especially given the higher price point compared to others nearby. The puzzles were multi-layered and complex, which was potentially going to be very interesting but there were two elements in our room that were broken which allowed us to move forward without actually having to solve correctly. Additionally, there was a lighting issue that made things more frustrating.

We had come here a few years ago and had a wonderful time. This most recent visit was absolutely terrible. When our group of 6 arrived, the doors to the main entrance were locked, leaving us to wait outside. At one point early on, an employee had asked if we wanted a hint. We said yes for the particular puzzle we were working on. From that point on, we were basically given the answers to all remaining puzzles. No rules were explained to us about cell phone use. We were feeling around in the dark until an employee told us to use the flash lights on our phones. Between not explaining the rules fully and giving out too many hints, our group was disappointed in the quality of the escape room operation. We finished a 1hr escape room in 30 minutes. Sadly, It was clear to us that the employees just wanted to get us out of there and go home.

We visited this week and did the agency room. It was excellently designed, had a perfect theme and the puzzles were just the right amount of challenging. Our game master was always on hand when we needed a clue and took care of us very well. I would highly recommend escape the room and will be back again to try another room in the future.

I went with my friends to the Midtown location and we did not have the experience that we expected: 1) We chose the Rec Room and saw that several projects were not well maintained, and a major piece to solve the challenge at the end was broken (told the staff but he was dismissive about the situation) 2) We tried getting the staffs attention for hints in the escape room, but a lot of times they did not seem attentive to our asks (for example asked multiple times to switch off the music) 3) We reached out to the manager via phone several times about our experience, but never got a call back. The same thing happened the first time I went there to ask about an existing credit I had with the store, but had a lot of difficulties communicating with manager and staff This was the second time I went to this escape room (first time went to The Agency and has a similar experience with broken objects), so I returned to see if I would get a better experience but that did not happen. I will not be returning to this location and hope to find a good escape room in Houston that I can go with my friends. I do not recommend this location if you would like to get the value of your money in return.

I have a few friends that when we travel we try and find a place where we can do a couple escape rooms back to back, and since we ve played a few dozen rooms we look for quality games. The photos and positive reviews of Escape the Room made it look really promising, unfortunately the registration process and later game play ended up being major disappointments. When we tried to book the first room online i was past the cart, page saying that our room was reserved for 10 minutes while I could enter payment information, however as I was entering that in I was unexpectedly kicked out of the page and the room and time removed from the page. After 10 minutes it was still unlisted and when I called someone else booked the room, so if you want a room, especially near future, don t waste time. Despite missing our first pick we signed up for The Theatre (our intended second room if the first was good) and while that registration went a bit smoother, was still surprised that digital waivers were never sent and we could only take care of that when we got on-site (and had to scan QR codes to sign digital waivers) Eventually we got into the room and while the aesthetics looked great, the gameplay was underwhelming. Fairly linear game, which if fine if there s some direction built into the game, but there wasn t. Lots of keypad combinations and memory requirements which can be frustrating with no whiteboard or pen and paper provided. Several of the puzzles gave little if any positive/negative feedback. For one of the puzzle pieces we worked for a few minutes, eventually asked for a hint, the game op (who didn t seem to be paying much attention to our room in the first place) basically said we already finished that one and other things were unlocked. Extremely frustrating for a room that had a lot of potential. We obviously didn t do a second room at Escape the Room and at a different site we talked with our game op and they confirmed the puzzles at Escape The Room Houston are really hit or miss. Theatre room is definitely a miss
