This is only remarkable for its architecture. Staff are nice and I am guessing they do more for the culture behind the scenes . But for a tourist visit come to, it s a superficial and disappointing experience. Definitely not worth 15 usd a ticket. No art, little culture, superficial information. It does not reflect the richness of Asian cultures of Houston.

I have been following Mr. Xu Bing for about 20 years, starting from his ghost wall Book from Heaven Book from Earth A B C Tobacco Project Introduction to Square Words Dragonfly Eyes Phoenix Installation Stories Behind the Works, etc. to the latest creations exploring space in the name of art. Along with my decades of artistic creation, I had the honor to watch Mr. Xu Bing s solo exhibition at the Houston Asian Association. I am also grateful to Mr. Xu Bing for taking the time out of his busy schedule to have a face-to-face dialogue with us. It was really a blessing. [Hands together]

Chinese New Year was well organized. A bit crowded in the main hall, yet a variety of activities for kids of different ages. The dragons danced rather well, although the music was so loud our daughter covered her ears the whole time (wouldve been more appropriate outdoors).

I went to a wedding reception here and the place was gorgeous but the elevator was broken. The reception was upstairs so every time you needed to use the restroom you had to go up and down the stairs which was very hard considering it was a formal occasion. My shoe ended up breaking so we had to leave early. But the venue was gorgeous and I think other than the broken elevator it was a lovely event and nice atmosphere.

Asia Society Texas Center undoubtedly stands out as the premier educational museum and cultural center in Houston. Their unwavering dedication to promoting and encouraging Asian culture through various mediums such as artist exhibitions, concerts, and opera collaborations makes it an invaluable asset. Attending the Chinese Lunar New Year event at Asia Society has become a tradition for me, and each year surpasses the previous one. The level of dedication and effort they put into this celebration is truly astounding. The Dragon Dance, in particular, captivates everyone, from kids to adults, making it both entertaining and educational. The event provides a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about their own culture through art, Asian cuisine, and engaging activities. The display of childrens artwork is a testament to the talent and creativity of the younger generation. Witnessing their creations adds an extra layer of joy and appreciation for the educational aspect of Asia Societys events. Furthermore, the Tiger Ball and other events hosted by Asia Society are exemplary, showcasing the centers commitment to creating diverse and meaningful experiences. Asia Society Texas Center has consistently proven itself to be a top-tier venue for any event dedicated to Asian culture. I highly recommend it and will continue to refer friends to join me at their various enriching events.

Ive visited the Asia Center a few times in the past and have always been impressed by their exhibitions. I was a bit upset when after taking our money (15 dollars each for 4 adults and then 9 for a kid) that only one very mediocre exhibit was open. I undersrand exhibits change and things happen based on what collections are around but this wasnt communicated. Very bad experience and communication. Huge waste of money and it takes advantage of a family wanting to see some art. Such a shame.

a beautifully designed center for Asian culture and art in Houston Midtown. I love the events they showcase and the Asian Night Market they host annually. They make sure to showcase art from all areas of Asia, including South, Southeast, and East Asia to highlight the diversity within Asia itself. Furthermore, their exhibit in the gallery rotates and showcases new, fascinating art. I would recommend this place as a museum stop for sure for any age. They also have a new interactive exhibit titled Explore Asia that, well, allows you to explore Asia through touchscreen displays. The museum is gorgeous and well thought out. Their parking lot is paid but street parking is free. Also a fantastic place to volunteer.

I actually came here for a meeting but was treated to a great tour by Jennifer and Nina. I loved the bullet train exhibit where you visit the different countries simulating the train. I thought that was pretty cool. The exhibit in the front of the building with the globe was awesome as well. One of the best exhibits was the interactive food menu inside the café. You can learn about different food from various countries. Again, really cool stuff I would suggest anyone to visit there

At the time of this review, Thursdays are free entry. Definitely worth a visit and I plan to go back again.

Since the Houston Museum District lists this site as always free, we were surprised to discover that it costs $15 to enter. The space and exhibits were nice, but not really worth the cost. Better to spend your money at HMNS or MFAH. Additionally, there was a huge school group present when we visited so we were crowded out of several rooms. I am delighted that school groups are going to the museum, but crowd could be managed better.

I love this place! It s so beautiful and serene. The second floor has an infinity pool that looks like it let s off steam, giving it a misty quality every few minutes. The water looks like it is running off the edge of the pool. So cool! I like the combination of the rich wood paneling of the walls on the inside of the building and the glass window walls on the outside of the building that looks out onto nature. The bistro downstairs serves delicious food, and has a glass wall that looks out into a garden-like area. You can sit outside to eat when the weather s nice. And the Society hosts four artists in residence at any given time. With permission, you can get a tour of their art space. I was with a group of art teachersteachers who participated in a hands-on workshop. The culmination of our session was visiting the artists and asking them questions about their art. They were gracious enough to let us take pictures of their art. It was the highlight of my day!

I have been to this center for an event they had for free. Not much to see because its small so dont pay or buy tickets. You had to pay more to enter in specific areas. Its pretty boring, and I expected much more from this center that would represent Asian cultures. The only thing exciting is the entrance near the cafe and the cafe itself which is amazing!!! The food is incredible! What I hated is that I order my food and while I waited, I went to the restroom. THE RESTROOMS ARE DISGUSTING AND SMELL HORRIBLE. Dont go inside the restrooms if you order food because you will lose your appetite.

Good for learning Asia culture but it is very limited, it s a super condensed instruction trying to tell you everything about Asia. I think it needs a better format of sharing, might exhibit in a Asia tour style doing it country by country instead of showing a tiny bit of every country. The place is very small and limited.

Decided to visit during their open house. There were some very brief interactive displays that gave you one short fact about various categories of each country. Like a rice dish for all of Korea. There was a rooftop pond and a bullet train simulation. Pretty lame. Drove a long way to get there. Saw everything in 15 minutes. No real displays just kiosks. Would no recommend or take visitors. There are better places. It was Air conditioned........

Asia Society Texas Center is a premier organization located in Houston, Texas, that is dedicated to promoting the understanding and appreciation of Asia and Asian culture. The facility is located in a beautiful building in the heart of Houston, which is easily accessible and provides ample parking space for visitors. The center offers a variety of programs and events throughout the year, including lectures, exhibits, films, performances, and cultural festivals. These events are designed to showcase the diversity of Asian cultures and promote a deeper understanding of the regions history, art, and traditions. For example, which I attached from a multi-disciplinary performance piece Mekong: SOUL Emmy Award-winning musician Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ and composer Jonathan Berger tell three powerful and multi-sensory stories about life on the Mekong River in Southeast Asia. Through music, the audience follows a journey along the river and hears the sounds of Vietnamese, Khmer, Thai, Lao, and Burmese communities. Through dance, they see the pains of departure from the homeland, as well as the struggles faced by those torn from the river. Through spoken word and moving images, they appreciate the bonds of the mother who sustains life whether on the river or in diaspora. Joined by artists from Southeast Asia, Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ and Houston s Apollo Chamber Players present stories about one of this planets greatest natural phenomena, which sustains not only life, but also mind, body, and soul. Overall, Asia Society is an excellent organization that is committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. Whether youre a local Houston resident or just visiting the city, the center is an excellent destination to learn about Asia and its rich cultural heritage.
