Seemed understaffed, so it took forever for service. Went for a late lunch on a Wednesday. Tables were dirty, plates looked like they weren t cleaned properly. Forced myself to try the food very bland. Restrooms were a wreck and falling apart.

Went for dinner and got a basic chicken quesadilla and it was delicious and the half order would be considered a full order at most places. Service was okay but we were sitting outside so maybe that had something to do with it. Otherwise I recommend coming here for food and drinks.

You cant beat taco Tuesday, its a great reason to stop in and grab a bite. Its always a busy day since they are closed on Mondays. They have a great atmosphere built up of friendly regulars and a helpful staff. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The beers are cold and the food was on point. Youre missing out if you drive by and never stop in.

My experience was great in the past but today I went there with my girlfriend we ate the fajitas for two and an appetizer we both had two margaritas and two beers and they said that we had enough and to close out my tab.I am 52 and my girlfriend is 60 years old so I know when I have had enough to drink.I will be taking my money someplace else and I have spent alot of money at your restaurant.

I had to leave halfway through my meal due to the smell of sewage coming from the bathroom. This started after I had received my food. The bartender put bleach down the sink which seemed to intensify the smell. Felt sick the entire drive home. Still feeling sick to my stomach and cannot bring myself to finish my meal.

My husband and I were just passing thru looking for a good place to eat. Everything was really good. Prices were reasonable. Staff was very attentive and cracked a joke or two. Everytime we pass thru we will be stopping. We would love to make this a weekly spot if we decide to move closer to the area. Thanks for the great food and service.

1st time there, we had a good time. Loved the vibes, we got there right before the kitchen closed they served us anyway thank goodness we were so hungry. Then off to the karaoke bar. We will definitely make this a stop when ever we stay in Hitchcock or Texas city. Prices on food very reasonable and plates are plentiful.

This is going to be a long one. We got there and they immediately brought chips and salsa, and got us our drinks shortly after. It took 20+ minutes to get our order in, which the waitress did not even come to our table. We had to go to the bar and put in our order, for food and more drinks. It was another 20+ minutes to get our food. I ordered shrimp, beef and chicken fajitas. When it arrived I did not even have shrimp in my fajitas. Not to mention, when we got there it wasnt very busy, tables that got there after us got their food first, other tables our waitress went to multiple times and didnt even check on us. Had to go neck up to the bar to tell them they didnt put shrimp in my fajitas, then they messed up AGAIN and made something else. Ended up telling them it was fine and asked for the tab. Service was extremely poor. Food had zero flavor. Overall extremely disappointing experience. There is not many places I wont give a second try. But I will never be back. Overall a terrible experience.

It has a nice atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful. Jane our server took great care of us . Today was taco Tuesday and they had specials ..The tacos were just right with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese . They didnt skimp on anything . Jane was very attentive and made sure we plenty to drink .We got water and coke to go .They have a big menu with a wide variety of food items . The prices are reasonable. They serve alcohol also . The restaurant was clean and well maintained. I liked the friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place.

Wait time was ridiculous. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the drink order then 30 minutes to place our order. At some point my friend tried to find a server only to be yelled at and still we waited. Then we watched several people come and go (unserviced). The only reason we stayed was we had eaten everthing else in the 3 restaurant town 2x already. The owner finally came to take our order and promised to make things right, which she did nothing at all!! Dont believe her sob story. If I could score 0 I would!!!!!

Margaritas had no hint of alcohol whatsoever...never again...server was good but reaked of cig smoke and while we were there she went out 4 times to smoke while there...never again..

Better than Baja, its Bayou Vista! Cold beer and tasty texmex food in a casual south Texas environment. Whats not to like? The people running the place treat you like family, but the side you like! Check out the tacos al pastor or the chicken flower and black bean dip. Vegetarian options too. Good times on the Bayou!

The food was nasty. Not to mention the knats kept landing in our food and drinks. Knats come from maggots. Obviously there is a health issue here. We ordered fajitas. They came out of a frozen bag of stir fry beef and bell peppers. They were so salty and nasty we only ate half a fajita each before the knats took over. The waitress was so so. I would say a 5 out of 10. Will never ever ever ever return here. I dont care who owns it or how many times the name changes. This place is ruined for me. Forever!!!!!!

A much needed respite from the seemingly endless onslaught of cut and paste fast food chains, built like golden shrines to their out of town owners. The Baja Cafe isn t simply a port in a storm. They serve savory fairly priced delicious food, ice cold drink, and fresh samplings from the gulf. Shorts and a T-shirt are preferred attire but only when accompanied with a laid back attitude and a empty belly. Salty dogs or day trip city dwellers, all are welcome here. Eat here without regret my friends.
