I have always liked this mall, been coming here since a kid. Yes, this mall is emptying out, and that is sad for Harlingen. All this mall needs is for the residents to just come back and shop here, send the message you want it. And the management of this mall simply needs to work with business owners. Offer really low rent to start, until business is back up. And also, reach out to established restaurants and do like la Plaza mall and bring in tons of great restaurants. You got the food, people will come and shop too. Simple business plan. The residents of the area should realize all the job opportunities for themselves & their children are right here in this mall. And their is no real savings at the outlet mall, so area residents just spend more money on gas going over there.

If they dont solve the many problems of this place, it will end up like the abandoned shopping malls in northeastern Ohio. Also the kohan retail investment group has a large troubled past.

Another dying out. Only 2-3 stores keeping this place up. Occasionally the lights are turned off because bill wasn t paid by owner. This would be a great location for market days. Or bringing in small vendors and small businesses. A lot of old small business say the rent is too high. Maybe this is another building doomed to a tragic ending.

Their cameras don t work and also what s funny is that he knew exactly what my wallet type was. I will never shop there again, nor will I have family that shops there.

Its shameful and out right pathetic that Harlingen can not bring in more and better business into the cities commerce. Whats going on? The mall is way behind when it comes to having business. Where is the pride this city once thrived on. McAllen and Brownsville malls are doing way better and even their rinkadink shoppers centers are doing great. Instead of trying and working on pushing people out you should be working on bringing people in.

My childhood memories of shopping and spending time with my grandma & momma; then a few years later taking my son back to school shopping, oh how we loved this Mall. It was sad to see the shell it is now but such fond memories I can still smile just remembering the beauty it once was. Branding Iron Burgers & China Pantry are open and still serving the delicious foods, we had a wonderful time and great lunch. Will return to mall walk and have lunch again soon. Hope someone puts some TLC into the building and brings it back to its former glory.

This mall is a joke. While the malls in both Brownsville and McAllen are thriving, this mall is on life support and is about to die at any moment. Same can be said for this city as well, but thats a completely different topic. There are more empty stores than filled stores. An entire section of the mall that led to where Sears used to be is completely closed off. Communication with mall management is almost nonexistent. If i try to call the number on Google i get a this number is no longer in service message. I even tried calling the number i was given on a business card and couldnt get it to ring. If i walk into the office to ask for assistance i can only talk to security guard and if i ask to speak to someone in charge they tell me they dont get into the office till after 12 p.m. Bathrooms are abysmal. One bathroom never has soap and stinks all the time while the other one has broken sinks so literally everyone is walking around with dirty hands afterwards. During the summertime the mall gets warm because they dont always turn on the AC when its hot. If youre a vendor for their market days or you work at the mall youll be walking to your car at the end of the day to a pitch-black parking lot because they cant even afford to turn on the lights in the parking lot. And speaking of parking lot you can hardly see the stripes on the parking lot so people are always parking wrong. Not to mention they have no security cameras in the parking lot and no longer have a security car driving around the parking lot, even during the Christmas holiday when security is needed most. This mall does absolutely NOTHING to attract new business to it and honestly it all starts with ownership and management and clearly neither of them care enough to do anything to make things better. In all honesty the best thing that could happen to this mall is that someone buys it and knocks the whole thing down and builds a new mall in its place. If i could give this place a zero out of five stars i would because even one star is being too generous for this worthless mall. The mall is literally the heart of Harlingen and it being an empty husk on display for all the people who pass by our city seeing it along the highway is extremely embarrassing. The owners and management have no shame and take no pride in anything they do. Oh and i forgot to mention that there are times you cant even get into the mall because they forget to pay their light bill sometimes.

The days of the shopping mall are over with! Too many anchor stores have gone out of business or went online only. Retail theft has been a contributing factor but the internet, the rise of Amazon and other online shopping, and of course Walmart that has killed off most local businesses is the most significant. This day it appeared that the mall walkers were more plentiful than shoppers. On this trip I didnt go to the mall to shop. A friend invited me for lunch at one of the few remaining spots in the food court. I havent shopped at this mall in over 5 years. IMHO, in 5 more years or less Valle Vista Mall will no longer exist, (as a place to shop anyway).

Liminal looking mall. I absolutely ADORE the backroom feeling it gives! Its rumored this mall may close soon... and by the looks of it, its probably true. I visited this place two days ago, saw lots of senior citizens doing walks, barber shops, and very old fashioned looking stores. Some sections were closed, and there werent many food options. The security guard was really nice, and they allowed me to take pictures. The people were nice as well, I give it a 10/10 for the architecture of the building. Oh I almost forgot, theres not a lot of cold a/c. Which was cool in a way, because I felt as if I were in the actual backrooms.
