We had to have our Miss Sophie put down at 16 years old. Dr Aquilar, her tech, and the staff were very sympathetic and helped us through a very difficult situation. The paw print they made for Sophie is going to be a precious memory. Thank you. We highly recommend them.

People dont give altas palmas enough credit..prices can be high BUT the service thats provided is beyound amazing compared to other vets. I Cant express enough of how thankful i am to all the staff from front to back. 3 weeks ago i had to put my 21 year old cat to sleep and dr. Aguilar and her tech were amazing. With amazing bedside manners and making it a little bit easier process. A clay ornament of her paws and prints of her paws and face were given to me when i picked her up .. Thank you to dr. Howard for taking care of our baby Bella and doing her procedure this past week.. Thank you altas palmas.

Overall the Clinic is well respected, NOT AAHA ACCREDITED HOWEVER, prices are extremely high, conversational patient privacy is nonexistent - Sounds in Clinic reverberate severely. Action - absorptive materials on walls/ceilings or distributed music throughout to mask and provide conversation privacy. Also, while med dosage to pets is normal, consideration is lacking based on pet weight and side effects consequently pets experience multiple days to recover, verses the inoculation spaced to offset the animals size/weight. - Certainly all things considered they are a recommended Clinic. A bit more TLC needs to be extended...

Great staff. Xena loves the attention they give her. As I dropped her off a staff member carried her like a baby in which you could tell that she loved the affection given. Xena is a rescued pitbull that was in very bad shape when we welcomed her to our family. Altar palmas clinic has been there for us in getting Xena back to Great health. Thank you folks for your professionalism and attention you give your clients love ones.

This used to be an amazing place to bring my dog, recently I tried calling a week away because I travel from Corpus Christi and before I would travel from Houston, and they told me there was no availability. When Dr. Duran and Dr. Rangel were there I never had this happen. I could be a walk in and would be taken care of. Not the case anymore, they wanted to set me up for an appointment in August. No thank you, will go somewhere else.

Had a family member call this clinic wanting to get a dog we had recently found and decided to make part of our family. Upon inquiring within the clinic we told based off our rough estimate of age of dog of about 2 years and 45 lbs it would 700-900$ would not recommend to anyone and will be looking for a new clinic to take all our four legged family members to.

The staff love your four legged family member like they were their family. The respect they show for the end of life process is truly loving and personal. My 4 dogs have been loyal patients of AP since I moved to the RGV in 2017. I take them for boarding, their vaccines, and their preventatives. Im not sure if its greed or an incredibly conservative approach to vet care, but they want to convince me to do extra things that cost me a lot of money. They tried to convince me that the neuter clinic would botch my dogs neuter (I had a $25 voucher) so they tried to convince me to schedule a $400 neuter with AP. I did the neuter clinic, the procedure was perfect, and I saved $375. Now they wont sell me bulk heartworm preventives, saying theyll only sell me single doses until my dog has her next heartworm test, even though my dog has been on preventatives this entire year. Single doses are more expensive. While understand they must comply with ethics and licensure requirements, the one-year exam isnt a strict requirement. When my dog had her teeth cleaning , they kept pressuring me to pay for something extra- maybe it was anti nausea medication - for the procedure which my dogs had never had with any other clinic. They said it was optional but the amount of pressure made it feel mandatory. I feel that they have become less supportive and it feels like greed and its becoming so expensive for people who really work hard to provide quality care to their pets. After spending thousands in the last 12 months between boarding, vet care, and preventatives, I have decided to transfer service.

Scheduling an appointment takes 4 - 6 weeks if not longer. This entire area has such a shortage of vets it s really sad. Even after our Golden was attacked and needed medical attention I was told to call in the mornings after 7 and they may have a cancellation. More vets are needed Most of all Winter Texans have dogs.

I just canceled my appointment at Altas Palmas. I waited 5 weeks for an appointment that I made by phone. Today, I asked 2 questions. If my pet were in need of emergency care during regular work hours, would a vet be available? Answer no, go to McAllen. Question 2- how much is a spay surgery for a kitten? Between $500 to $550. I have been a client for over 25 years and this is no longer the Altas Palmas Clinic of Dr. Rangel and Dr. Dittman. My now 9 week kitten rescued from the streets will find a doctor that cares. Unfortunately, the overburdened Harlingen Humane Society does a much better job taking care of community pets. They re picking up the slack for this corporate run business.

The professionalism was evident right from the start. Treatment with both our animals and us for that matter was excellent. She explained all clearly, concise and thoroughly. Spoke with Ida this morning because I was told to call in the event that there were cancelations. She was short with me and hung up on me before I could ask her one last question. I have been taking my dogs there for at least 10 years so it is sad to just be dismissed that way. I felt scolded because they only have one vet today. Most pet owners are emotionally distraught over having to take the pet in to be seen. The last thing we need is someone being rude.

I would like to update this review by saying: This vets office, the vets, techs and office personnel continue to be outstanding and never fail to impress!!! They love their clients and it shows. They continually go above and beyond! Thank you for being wonderful. Though I havent used them much since covid since they wont let owners go in, I have nothing but, praise for them. They are always welcoming in an emergency, professional, and the staff is outstanding. They are a little pricier than other vets but, I find their professionalism, experience and love for my babies make it worth it. Id give them 6 stars if I could.

For over 30 years we have taken our animals to Altas Palmas. They used to have a great practice when Drs. Rangel, Dittman, Duran and Putnam were there. I really needed them (the new regime) recently when my 16 year old Lab, no longer could stand, eat or drink and probably needed euthanized. I was told that there was only one doctor there and there were four other patients to see the doctor, so I could get there in 20 minutes or call at 7:00 the next morning to see if there was an opening...can you imagine after being a devoted customer for all those years when you really needed them. Thank goodness for the Arroyo Vet Clinic who had some compassion and was able to get us in. I would not recommend the current Altas Palmas Animal Clinic.

There is still a wait period if you have concerns about a pet. The issue with my dog was not life threatening so waiting a week to be worked into a time slot was OK. They do not allow pet owners to go inside with animals, and my dog was unhappy because she is a rescue dog and Im sure she remembers being in a kennel. I would have provided proof of vaccination and worn an N95 mask to be allowed in, and gone to my car to give payment by phone. Pet owners have limited interaction with staff anyway. At any rate, the young man who took her from the car and brought her back was very good with her.

Where do I start. I took Lola because she had a lump size of a baseball on her neck. I took her in December, did test to see if perhaps it was cancer or had spread in other parts. All the test came out clear her body was in good condition and they recommended to remove it. Not knowing what it was. I dont have the funds to take her to do an MRI, I had to trust in the doctors. I took a week of thinking either to go ahead or not with the surgery. The lump was or will eventually obstruct her trachea and cause more issues. I decided to go ahead and do the surgery. It was going to be done by DR Duran. She came out of surgery they were able to remove the mass since it was Incapsulated. When i picked her up she was still very out of it, pale in color. Dr. suggested I take her home and bring her back early in the morning for more fluids. I felt Lola would be better at home with me than in the clinic since no one is there to keep an eye out. I took her the next morning, left her there and went back for her around 5pm. She was already looking so much better. She wanted to look outside the car window but was still a little tired. Fast forward two weeks, she is like nothing. Doctors were amazed at how good she had responded, but then again I was the once amazed at how GREAT the doctors had out done themselves. This was a risking surgery and they took such good care of her to bring her back to me. Her sutures have been removed, she is now doing what she loves to do best....RUN. She is a runner and she loves it. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT ALTAS PALMAS. To DR. DURAN AND DR ESPANRZA, TO THE TECHNICIANS TO DONNA TO EVERYONE...I know you took great care of Lola. Thank you

Everyone in this clinic shows a lot of love, patience, and care towards your pet. Phones are always answered and no question is a dumb question. I chose to bring my baby here because Donna took the time to explain what goes about with a dental procedure on the phone with me for about 10 min on the phone before I was even a customer there. Wait times are not long at all the times I ve had appointments. They were great with keeping me updated as the day went by about my dog status. I would recommend this vet clinic to everyone.

Dont take your babies to this clinic! This clinic does not post its billing charges. FYI, each office visit is $52. for 30 minutes. If it goes beyond 30 minutes, the visit is $75... How are customers supposed to know this? And, by the way, this time includes your intake with the technician who writes down the reason for your visit, weighing in, and documenting medications, etc. In all fairness, service charges should be posted, otherwise, it all seems arbitrary..and what happens when they decide to increase prices? Will the customer again be left in the dark?? This does not seem like a fair, ethical practice. The pandemic has been hard on all businesses in the valley, which is reflected in the vet services that are being up-charged, and the medicine, at the vets office, which is now going at 3x the regular cost. Wow! But none of this is ethical. They care about the almighty $$$. Yes, they should get paid for their services; however, the customer should Not be sledge hammered with additional costs at their sole discretion, and do a: Surprise! We are now charging you $$$ So, Please dont be naive in believing that they care about your pet, or any pet. The only one who has ever been nice and respectful to me and my babies was the 1 female technician that we met today. Otherwise, that place is a cold and indifferent, and detached from the reality that most people cant afford a $600+ bill every month --- even though the tests, lab work, and X-rays are less than 1 month old! But yet they want to do them again! And, each of my 2 dogs just needed 1 prescription filled--Thats it! They were happy, jumping and active in the vets office. They werent brought in on stretchers or severely ill . Altas Palmas shares the same Surprise-This is your bill! philosophy as another vet clinic in Harlingen that is toxic .. and thats probably because they share the same doctors! Cha-Ching! Cha-Ching! Its all rigged. Update: Altas Palmas, you are Not transparent in your billing, otherwise extra charges would be posted, plus I was 10 minutes under the unknown 30 min per visit per dog rule. So, by the same logic, shouldnt I be reimbursed for the 10 minutes that allowed your business to move along and overcharge someone else? And I will not subject myself to being demeaned and spoken down to again as I was on 9-18-21. The time issue happened because of scheduling, not my over use of the vets time. Your male tech came in angry, raising his voice, and threatening me that he had proof on his computer, then loudly accused me of not wanting to pay any of my bill. Clearly, he was trying to intimidate me and make a show of it all. FYI, I paid my bill, just not the extra charges, and by the way, I was coding on computers long before that male tech was even born, so no need to treat people like they are ignorant. And his attempt at intimidating me failed. I never raised my voice as he did to me, so, No, I will Not call you. I dont need to have you explain what I experienced that day at your clinic, and I do Not wish to hear you backpeddling the way you treated me. The whole reason for reviews, is so people can reasonable say: This Is So Wrong! My review stands, and you should treat people and their pets with consideration and respect. Update 10-8-21 This vet business will not fill even 1 prescription for 1 dog. I paid for 2 dog visits so each could get 1 prescription, $120, but they will not fill even 1 prescription. Wow! Unbelievable!

I have been taking my two Chihuahuas, Missy and Mia to Altas Palms for 5 years and the first time my little Baby has a problem that scared me (a nose bleed) they cant see her. I am a senior and when you are old your pets are everything to you. She is my precious baby. I am very concerned and worried. I am taking her to another Vet on Monday. After using Altas Palmus for over 2 years with our 4 dogs, we will be changing vets. We went into today with 2 of our bigger dogs for shots and yearly checkup and was surprised by the pushy service and then the surprising $900 plus bill we shockingly recieved at the end. That was more than triple of what it was last year. Our old vetenarians retired along with their great service and were replaced with the current vets. Not happy, not coming back. Stay away!

Recently moved to area and needed a new vet for my pets. Was referred to Atlas Palmas by a trusted friend. From the first phone call, I knew I was on the right path. I waited a whole 5 minutes for the techs to come to the car to take my dogs inside!!! Less than an hour later, BOTH my dogs were examined and I was updated on the complete process. This was their annual full workup with all vaccinations and preventive treatments. The vet even came out to my car to explain everything. She is amazing, to say the least. Everyone on the staff was incredibly professional, friendly and helpful.This was the most positive experience I have ever had! Anywhere! EVER!

My first time coming here. Even though I couldnt go in with my doggie, Pupper Potts (her brother was named Tony Bark- for you Marvel fans) they were amazing over the phone and those that came out to pick up my dog were very nice and very gentle with my pup. I observed all the other patients were treated the same way. Absolutely loved the experience.

Not what it used to be. I miss the old doctors and staff. Theres no longer that atmosphere the place had. I received great fast service and they did an amazing job helping my pet but I miss the old days. This is where I put my 17 year old friend down so I have many great memories of the times they helped us manage his illness. I hope things get better soon. I recommend this place but not the one they refer you to in Mcallen, that is where dogs go to die and the worse part is they charge you for services your pet does not need since they know fully well not much can be done to save them. I know this because that was my friends and cousins experience here.

They gave my cat the most expensive haircut ever! LOL $15 for a shave behind the ear. I have been here twice (same cat), and they have been so professional and very thorough examining my cat and explaining. Yes they are pricey, but thats what you get into when you are a pet owner. I will continue coming here, probably with same cat since hes always getting into trouble. I included a before and after picture. 5 days apart, and hes doing so much better! Thank you! Btw Dr treated him with an antibiotic, she didnt just give him a haircut Lol!

Took dog in to have lumps (3) removed. Only removed 1. Stitches came out so took her in for restitching. Requested to speak with Vet. Still waiting 3 days later. Service has gone down badly in the past few months. Have been going there since 97. Am considering move to another Vet. They dont allow you to be with your pet. You get to sit and wait in your car. There is also no conferencing with the Vet during the visit. They call you with your bill, bring out your animal and thats it.

Expensive. Prices have been increasing. They ve adopted a new app that creates barriers to checking in your pet. Had appointment at 2pm. Arrived early to check-in. They forgot about us, until I messaged them again, 25 min after our appointment time. Another time, we came to get flea meds for our dogs. Cost ~50 per pet for an appointment which they required to get the medication. This doubled the cost would would pay just for the meds. Only reason for the appointment was to weight our dogs - we already knew what they needed. My previous vet gave us a discount for multiple pets and didn t cost this much for one visit.

They are caring and very compassionate, especially in difficult times. When my dog of 16 years died, they helped with arrangements and even sent a bereavement card signed by the staff. It was such a heartfelt gesture.

I took my baby boy Diego there most of his life with no particular Vet and always felt so good on how they took care of my baby boy,had to put him down 2 weeks ago due to Callopsed Trachea but they were so good ...I wouldnt go anywhere else even if it was more convenient...love all employeespet lovers

They are apparently always busy my dog had gotten hit by a car a needed to be seen right away. We called this place and they said oh we are so sorry but we are busy why dont you try going to MaCallen. We live in san benito we had to drive all the way to macallen to get medical treatment for my dog.
