I visited Game X Change looking for GameCube games. While I get it s a used game store, I was concerned when I overheard an employee mention a deep scratch on one of the games I was looking at. Decided to pass on that. Then I saw The Simpsons Game for Xbox 360 priced at $54.99, which after tax came to $59.53. Excited, I took it home, but when I put the disc in, my Xbox 360 kept saying open tray. To make sure it wasn t my console, I tried Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and that worked fine. I rushed back to the store before closing, only to discover the The Simpsons Game disc had deep scratches around the Xbox logo and was obviously not in working condition. When I explained the situation, the employee s attitude shifted the moment I asked for a refund. I was immediately told a refund wasn t possible only store credit. Another employee brushed it off with, That s unfortunate, which made it clear that they don t care about their customers. If this was an $8 game, fine, I d take the credit. But this was a $60 game, supposedly premium since it was behind glass. The fact that this game clearly wasn t tested before being sold at such a high price shows a lack of responsibility. It s clear Game X Change doesn t care about quality control or their customers. They ll take any game, slap a high price on it, and refuse accountability when it doesn t work. That s bad business, and I won t be spending another dollar here. I ll take my business elsewhere.

Absolutely love this Game Exchange. Since it was established years ago, it s been a staple of Georgetown s retro games and gaming community. I ve always loved the staff coming in, they are friendly, happy to help, and always excited chat about games. As well as point you to a game you may never have heard about!

NO REFUNDS If you can go somewhere else, you should. leaving this review based on the booth set up at Classic Games Fest in Austin. Wanted to buy a Gamecube, and decided to shop with them due to competitive pricing (on consoles). A quick once over of the games should have been enough to turn me away, but unfortunately i was optimistic. Most, if not every Gamecube Game they had was horrible scratched more than ive seen in any game store. All the boxes were destroyed, and the prices they expected for games were laughable in this condition. So whatever, Ill buy the games somewhere else. I asked for a gamecube at the front. It was wrapped up in a cardboard box, and yes i should have had them open it then snd there to look at it, but i did not expect that box to have a dirty, sticky, colored on, and internally uncleaned console. They also advertised the consoles at $80 and somehow i wound up paying $100 on the dot. Definitely my fault for not taking more assurance before purchasing, but there was no reason the console could not have even been dusted off before they wrapped up. The service was different depending on who was walking the aisles, but apart from one dude who was actually helpful, the other employees were basically acting like i was crazy for checking the disc condition and asked for a (slightly) better price on two games. I really doubt these are issues exclusive to this event, so id advise anyone to just shop somewhere else, and if Game Xchange has a better price, maybe go for it then. (Also, NO REFUND POLICY, they only offer in store credit for returns)

I checked this place out last week after a failed attempt to find games elsewhere. Great atmosphere and there are tons of games to look at. The quality of the games might not always be very clean, but you can tell theyre doing theyre best. They also actually talk to the customers, which is always a plus in a game shop.

Im upset. 1st interaction was with a manager and 100% deserves 5 stars. Paid with cash, no receipt, called ahead of time explaining my situation and he returned and swapped my faulty Switch dock NO problems. I then came in a bit less than a month later to return the same dock as the 2nd one was also giving me connection issues. (my fault, didnt grab a receipt again and paid with cash again.) I explained to the new employee (who was also on shift during the 2nd exchange) the situation and he just said, nah I dont remember you and refused the exchange. I even tipped him last time I saw him, explained the other customers that were in when this happened. Giving as much detail as possible other than a receipt. This long hair employee RUINED any repeat clientele from me. Never coming back. Be like your manager and help people.

Shady game store. I came in to buy a Fall out New Vegas game. They sold me son a cracked disc. When we noticed it on the car we tried to return it minutes later. They would not refund me the money. Said they could only offer store credit. I guess these guys have never heard of a chargeback at the fraud department of your credit card of choice. I also guess this is how they get sales. Sale you a busted product you want and return it for store credit for store thats 90% someones old over priced garbage. To top it off there was a older man selling a big ol bag of handhelds and games that totally got taken to the cleaners. They were looking at a multiple game boys and turned it on to show the black bar where the word Nintendo would be if a game was inserted and told him this meant it didnt work but they can give him something for it. It wasnt broken. Thats what game boys do with no games in it. Sell your stuff on eBay you will get much more. Quite a scam they got going here. Please believe other reviews when they say they sold trash and couldnt get their money back.

Overly Disappointed with my purchase, I bought a Rock Band xbox 360 guitar controller and I asked the clerk if it works and can he test it out for me. His response typically we dont accept the controller if it doesnt work so I took my chance because I bought 5 games for it and I get home to find batteries inside are corroded and leaking, I cant replace them and I was sold the equivalent of trash. I want my money back

Fraudulent Sale. Sold an xbox 360 missing an internal hard drive. Long story short this company stole my money by selling me something that literally has an internal component missing and then only gave me store credit to retain the money I had spent. My story and experience is down below. I have been wanting to play skylanders again and a console that has all the games is an xbox360. Because of this and what I ve seen in stock previously at Game x Change I decided to stop by and pick up the game a figure and an advertised tested and working 250 gig console. The factors leading up to me writing this review start with that when I got home and opened the game I found no disk in it. I immediately called and the employee on shift at the time and he said he forgot to put it in. Unfortunately this meant that I had to drive back to pick it up. So I decided to wait to open the xbox. That night after my 1.5 hour total commute there and back with much excitement I tore through the packaging after returning home and noticed a very profuse smell of soot. While this is not optimal and very annoying I didn t really mind because I would just take extra time to deep clean it and hopefully that would fix the issue. When I plugged in the console there was nothing worrying at first aside from the smell and after going through the menus and making sure my controller worked (it didn t but I had old ones so I didn t mind) I decided it was time to make an account. But to my surprise and shock when I clicked the button to make one it told me that I had to pick a storage device to save it to. But it showed none to choose from. I thought that was weird so I went to system settings and was taken aback when I found that there was no hard drive or ssd. An internal component was missing, and somehow my experience gets worse! I immediately called not even 24 hours after buying the xbox 360 and asked if I could bring back the console and get my money back. The same employee that sold it was very understanding over the phone and confirmed I could indeed get a refund. I arrived at the store less than 24 hours later and I put it on the counter mentioned who I was and that I had called and asked for a refund. The employee then asked refund? Not an exchange? I said yes and he said okay. He then handed me a piece of paper with a code for store credit. I told him that I needed my money back because he sold me an advertised tested console that literally had an internal component missing and he said that due to policy they couldn t give me my money back. I said that I understand that policy if the xbox worked but they literally sold me an xbox360 with a missing internal component, so it s just a plastic box with a green light. And then they would not let me get my money back. On top of this he would not give me his managers phone number and I had to call 3 other stores before finally reaching someone that would give me the corporate office phone number. I called and explained my situation and the way its set up I had to leave a voice mail. About half a week later I got a call back and was told that my answer was coming from the president of the company and this is was she said on his behalf, it took to long to get your message so in store credit is all we can offer you I find it interesting that the president of the company does not have the power to give me my money back but thats neither here nor there. I have never had a situation like this so I wasn t sure what to do and I know that freaking out wouldn t be helpful so I decided to write this instead. Do not come here.

Brought in a brand new, pretty much out of the box wireless controller that came with the purchase of my console. Since I have an extra controller I thought I would take it in to game exchange for some extra cash in hand since keeping it was pointless pretty much. I arrive at the store to see a family in front of me making a purchase with their 2 kids. about 15 minutes has passed now from standing in line (totally fine with waiting) only for them to be charged for a game they didnt have in stock. immediately hear the staff say they cant do a cash refund even though they sold them a game they didnt have in stock anymore. While the argument takes place the second employee finally seems like hes willing to help me out while they argue about a refund. finally acknowledging me while the argument with another customer takes place right beside me. He takes my controller ( battery powered) and rummages through a drawer of old chewed up USB cables. Then plugs in my controller for about 5 seconds, to then hand it back to me and tell me its broken and wont connect. He doesnt even try another cable or attempt to try again after I mentioned it was brandnew. never have I witnessed such unprofessionalism and carelessness. Curly hair guy with the glasses needs much more training and a better work attitude. If I was the owner someone like that could destroy my business and would definitely be fired before he gets the chance to continue bad business interactions.

Bought a copy of guitar hero: smash hits for xbox, clerk says it works and I still paid reg. price after he says hell take tax off. I get home and the game is unreadable. Called the store today and they picked up the phone twice, and hung up on me twice. Not buying from here if they cant answer the phone to help.

Inventory doesnt change much. They should consider how they price games that are scratched, dont have cases, etc. Looking on eBay and other sources you can get complete sets for what they charge for disc only in poor condition. I prefer to support local business but its difficult when their inventory consists of old sports titles and poor condition games.

This is the first review I ve ever posted, Drove 30 minutes to find a game store that wasn t game stop to try some games you can t always find, Bought an Xbox 360 and a game, all good. Took it home the game didn t work it was too scratched to last 20 minutes. Drove 30 minutes back, noticed the receipt said in store credit ONLY no returns to get your money back. Spoke to the employee was kind of irritated I couldn t get my money back that made no sense to me since I was just there. So I took my loss exchanged for a different game, drove 30 minutes home and the game I just bought won t work, tested on a different system still won t work, comes back as damaged. I m not even going to waste my time going back they can keep the $20 they got from me. If I could ve gotten my money back I d consider being a return customer but I ll just continue to use GameStop since their more reliable and return policy actually makes sense. Please be very wary if you come here and if you buy any used games, there s no way they re tested properly.

This place could ve been a cool find. However, the customer service, the attitudes of the staff, the atmosphere it s oddly lackluster. I went in recently w/ my gf (our 4th consistent experience, btw), and sat at the counter waiting to be acknowledged whilst 2 people behind the counter rummaged through packeted discs for a solid 15-20 minutes. Odd thing: when you walk in the door, you get a fast-food service level of greeted enthusiasm, which is later followed with absolutely unremarkable and unenthusiastic customer service. Always a WELCOME IN!!! followed with a jaded and tired attitude when you actually want to do business. My gf and myself both work in the video game industry at times (myself as a composer, she as an arranger and educator) it s sad that this store could be great and be a place of game culture and passion. Instead it s in fact bereft of anything good beyond a smattering of dated sportsball games for every console from A-Z, and a barely changing selection of rarities. I ll literally drive anywhere else within 50 miles to avoid this place 8 minutes away. Completely lost case.

A really well stocked game store with good to great prices. They have a pretty huge selection of games, cards, accessories and consoles. Console and controller prices here are really great and are way closer to online prices than you find in other physical stores in the area. An example is a $39 working PS one. Staff were quick to help me look through a couple of things and check me out too.

The game Soul Caliber we bought didnt work but they had a Sega Dreamcast!!! We cleaned up the console and controllers and it powered up just fine! I had to order a few games online but so we cant enjoy it yet but my inner child is so happy I found the favorite gaming console of my youth!

Employees flat out lie about return policy and manager backs them up. I bought a new Wii Remote but had concerns that it would not be compatible with my Wii. I asked the employee about this, and she stated that I could return the item within 24 hours for a refund. After she ran my card, she highlighted something on the receipt and handed it to me (the timing of this is important later, AFTER SHE MY CARD). Sure enough, I had issues connecting the remote to my Wii, so I brought it back in box with the receipt early the next morning. I was then told that I could only receive store credit and that Game XChange does not issue refunds of any kind. I spoke to the manager, who was firm on the policy regardless of what the employee said. He directed me to the highlighted portion of my receipt that states they only issue store credit. He even told me that if I were to return the item 10 seconds later, it would only be store credit. He also stated that since she highlighted the receipt, policy was followed and so he cant make any exceptions. This is why I feel that I was completely conned. I was told I could return for a refund. My card was then run. Afterwards I was informed that the employee lied about the return policy by a highlighter and no words. So, even if I had read it right then and there, according to the manager I could not get a refund. This is 100% fraudulent business practices and I recommend you never set foot in this store.

I just went from a mediocre 3* rating down to a 1* rating for this store because of what I consider miserable business practice. I picked a movie marked $4.95 and was told at the counter that the store was going through a restructuring and now the movie I picked was $6.95. Im sorry you are going through some changes, but charging people now then the marked price is a joke. Get your repricing done overnight and dont cause your customers and under stress and irritation. Its gonna be a while before I spend my money here again.

I did find a DVD no Disney live action Jungle Book with Jason Scott Lee about a month ago. I went in for their 20 for 20 sale and their disc resurfacer was out of commission. Could not buy DVDs at that time because the discs I wanted could not be cleaned/resurfaced and 50% of those selected needed work.

This place is amazing. Thanks to this store I have built an incredible old school gaming collection. Usually their prices are even lower than youll find online, with some exceptions (looking at you Wii sports). If you like gaming, youre guaranteed to find something you want here.

The best video game store in town. Ask for any one of the guys Levi, Preston, or Kegan! They are knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. Before this staff, it was horrible. They would take forever to process your trades, lack in knowledge (for example one past employee thought a nes cart was a tape cassette ), and one guy was upset that I traded in stuff that he threatened to spit in my face. This store came a long way finding the right people to run it and hope they stick around because I will hate to see them go. Keep up the good work!
